LACC Basketball Coach Mike (Michael) Miller Reveals Facts About His Innocence on TV show After Being Found Not Guilty On All Charges In Jury Trial

LOS ANGELES, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- Los Angeles City College Coach Mike Miller, who gained fame as the most winning college basketball coach in the country from 1997-2006, with a winning percentage of .885 and a record of 241-38, was found not guilty by 12-0 vote in a jury trial verdict in Los Angeles Superior Court; announced the California Basketball Association (CBA).

Coach Mike Miller was aggressively prosecuted and charged with 13 misdemeanor counts by the Los Angeles City Attorney Chadd Kim, who waited almost an entire year to bring the misdemeanor charges in case number 4CA00067 on November 17, 2014.

Because of Coach Miller's past successes as a college basketball coach and a noted author, the case received major media attention, specifically from KTLA Channel 5 News who falsely reported that Coach Miller was the owner of a Prep School and that he ran it out of his house as well as going to great lengths to detail the accusations made against Coach Miller. Neither Channel 5 News nor the L.A. Times bothered to provide further updates, nor subsequent articles on the outcome of the matter.

After a three week jury trial, commencing on June 8, 2015 and ending on June 30, 2015, the jury unanimously found Coach Miller not guilty of the serious charges of (i) Penal Code Section 243.4(E)(1) (i.e., the sexual battery claim against Miller) and (ii) four counts of Penal Code Section 242 (i.e., the battery claims against Miller). The court also dismissed all eight counts of Penal Code §647(J)(3)(A) (i.e., the claims that Miller used a concealed camera to view a person's body in a private room) in the furtherance of justice.

The Los Angeles Times article and KTLA Channel 5 news stories read in a vacuum and without further context of Coach Miller's resounding exoneration, is ultimately misleading to the public about the truth of the matter.

"Sex crimes are very easy to make up and very hard to defend," stated Former Prosecutor and Miller's defense attorney Joe Weimortz.

Throughout the proceedings Coach Miller steadfastly maintained his innocence and reflected on the absurdity of the charges: "This was like an abnormal psychology text book coming to life."

Miller stated in a recent exclusive interview on his own TV show: "It was like she (L.A. City Attorney Chadd Kim) didn't want to prove I was a vegetarian, she just wants to prove I don't eat meat."

After his new experience in the criminal justice system, Coach Miller is currently writing a book highlighting the insanity of the criminal justice system and in some cases the abuse of power that occurs by police and prosecutors.

LA Watts Summer Classic Boys and Girls Basketball Tournament Finals June 24, 2017 at Crenshaw High School and East Los Angeles College

LOS ANGELES, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- The annual LA Watts Summer Classic Basketball Tournament returned to action last week on June 16, 17 and 18 at various sites throughout Los Angeles. Over 20 boys and girls teams participated in the basketball event announced the California Basketball Association.

The California Basketball Association (CBA) led by Commissioner Dr. Michael Miller, announced that Crenshaw High School located at 5010 11th Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90043 will be the site for the boys basketball semi-finals and finals.

Dr. Miller excitedly announced the competing teams for the 2017 summer championship on Saturday morning June 24, 2017 as defending L.A. City Section Division 1 Champions Crenshaw HS led by coach Ed Waters; defending L.A. City Section Division 2 champions Gardena HS led by coach Ernie Carr; and the third boys team is L.A. City Section Division 4 runner-up Augustus Hawkins HS led by coach Tamao Kawai.

The schedule of games at Crenshaw HS on Saturday morning June 24, 2017 starts with the first semi-final at 10 a.m. between Gardena HS and veteran former college coach Ernie Carr against coaching newcomer Tamao Kawai and his outstanding team from Augustus Hawkins HS from South Central Los Angeles. The loser of this game goes on to play Ed Waters and the famed Crenshaw HS Cougars in the second semi-final at 11 a.m. The winner of the second semi-final game plays the winner of the first semi-final at 12 p.m. for the championship.

CBA Commissioner, Dr. Michael Miller is elated over the quality of teams and talent that will be on display in the Crenshaw HS gym.

He was quoted as saying "Any of these outstanding teams is capable of winning two games Saturday morning to take home the crown of 2017 LA Watts Summer Classic champions." Commissioner Miller went on to say: "We are also excited about having the finals hosted by Crenshaw HS and express our deep gratitude to principal L. Remon Corley and the rest of the Crenshaw staff for allowing us to use this historic site for the boys finals."

The girls basketball finals will also be held on June 24, 2017 and will be held at East Los Angeles College in Monterey Park, the California in the men's gym. Games times for the girls site are 9:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. followed by the championship game at 12:30 p.m.

The competing teams on the girls side are led by defending L.A. City Open Division champions Fairfax HS and coach Chuck Harrell. The field also features defending L.A. City Section Division 3 champion Torres HS led by Coach Walter O'Neal. Torres high school is located right around the corner from East Los Angeles College and comes into the event as the sentimental choice by the locals. Upstart Rancho Dominguez HS led by coach Box will be attempting to become the first small school to win the ladies crown in LA Watts Summer Classic history.

Admission prices range between $5-$10 and are good for all games at both sites.

Commissioner Miller said: "This event is all about bringing people together from all of walks of life and from diverse areas of Los Angeles. The intent is to experience, through sport, a common bond and enjoy friendly competition through sport."

Coach Michael ‘Mike’ Miller Recognized as First Coach in California History to Win State Titles for High School and Community College

LOS ANGELES, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- Coach Michael "Mike" Miller has been recognized by the California Basketball Association for being the first coach in California history to win State Titles at the high school and Community College levels announced the California Basketball Association.

Coach Miller is also the youngest coach to ever win a state title at the high school level and community college levels. Coach "Mike" Michael Miller led his Ribet Academy boys' basketball team to a division V state title in the Oakland Coliseum in 1991. Coach Miller was 27 years old and already in his fourth year of being a high school varsity head coach.

Six years later a 33 year old coach Miller led his Los Angeles City College Cubs to a state title at the community college level. In doing so coach Miller became the first coach to ever accomplish this duel feat. Again, the location was Northern California, this time at San Jose State University over the local team from San Jose City College.

Coach Miller was not only the first coach to win state titles at the high school and community college levels but also the youngest coach in California history to do so.

After Coach Miller achieved this unique accomplishment, a second coach, Reggie Morris completed the dual achievement. Coach Morris won his high school state title at Manual Arts high school and his community college championship at LA Southwest College. As of this time they are the only two coaches to ever complete this feat.

Currently Coach Miller is coaching a professional team in the California Basketball Association and Coach Morris is retired from coaching.

California Basketball Assn. Holds Draft – Center Renardo Sidney Is Men’s First-Ever Player Selected

COMPTON, Calif., Jan. 21, 2016 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Former Mississippi State star Renardo Sidney was the first player taken in the inaugural California Basketball Association's draft Sunday January 10, 2016.

In all, 48 players were selected by six different CBA men's teams over eight rounds to play in the new professional basketball league. Free Agent tryouts are Saturday January 23, 2016 at 5 p,m. at the USESS Center in Compton, California.

Sidney, a 6-10 center who was one of the nation's most recruited players out of Fairfax High School in 2009, has the distinction of having his name called first by CBA Commissioner and CEO Mike Miller. Sidney's professional playing experience consists of stints with the Los Angeles Defenders of the NBA's D-League and the Guaros de Lara in Venezuela.

Sidney, who also starred at Artesia High and was a McDonald's All American, was taken by the Compton Airmen, coached by Russell Otis, the former Compton Dominguez High School coach, who guided the school to five state championships.

With the second pick of the CBA draft, the Long Beach Shoremen selected Ephraim Ekanem, a 6-7 forward who starred at the Northern Arizona University.
