ASHEVILLE, N.C., Dec. 3, 2015 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Filmmakers Dylan and Melanie Trivette of Trivette Images were recently recognized as bronze winners of the 36th Annual Telly Awards for their documentary "A Unified Presence" in the non-profit organization category, Four Seasons Compassion For Life announced today.

Founded in 1979, the Telly Awards are considered the premier award among film and video professionals working across a range of mediums. In 2015, the winners were selected from more than 12,000 entries from the United States and abroad by a panel of 650 industry peers who judge each work based on merit.

The Four Seasons Compassion for Life documentary features the cross-continental partnership between the leading North Carolina care provider, Flat Rock, and the Palliative Care Alliance of Zambia. Filmed on location in the sub-Saharan, southern African nation and North Carolina, the film highlights the global need to improve access to quality palliative care during serious illness or at end of life.

Zambia provides a compelling backdrop to the need for palliative care across the developing world. On average, Zambians have a life expectancy of 48 years, about half of that of North Carolinians, due to high incidences of HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis, and cancer.

Four Seasons Efforts to Improve Palliative Care in Zambia Featured in Documentary

ASHEVILLE, N.C., Sept. 26, 2013 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- A premiere screening of "A Unified Presence," a short documentary film featuring Four Seasons Compassion for Life, Flat Rock, and its cross-continental partnership with the Palliative Care Association of Zambia is slated for Tuesday, October 15, at Asheville Community Theater, 6:30-9 p.m.

The Zambian partnership formed in 2011 to provide support to a country with limited access to this compassionate form of medical care. Then, in 2013, Four Seasons sent a medical mission team to Zambia to assist with care, develop strategy, and create a mutual vision to increase the reach of the Palliative Care Association of Zambia. Four Seasons partners with PCAZ because their missions align, according to Janet Bull, M.D., chief medical officer, who helped formulate the partnership.

On average, Zambians have a life expectancy of 48 years, about half that of North Carolinians, and high incidences of HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis, and cancer. With fewer than 800 doctors nationwide, expert consensus is that the country's medical system remains ill-equipped to take care of the needs of the seriously ill and dying.
