The Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress Launches Project Commemorating America’s 250th Anniversary

WASHINGTON, D.C., Feb. 13, 2025 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — The Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress (CSPC) is excited to announce the launch of its Quarter Millennial Project, a multi-pronged initiative marking the 250th anniversary of the United States in the lead up to July 4, 2026. Through digital exhibits, story telling, and events, the project will examine the nation’s history through the lens of innovation as we approach this important milestone for the country. Today, two centerpieces of the project, a “Life in 1776” digital exhibit and an interactive “Innovation Timeline,” go live for public access on CSPC’s website.

The digital exhibit on “Life in 1776” offers a deep dive into early American society and the Revolutionary period. Viewers are able to explore nine modules on a range of topics including voting, education, and commerce. The modules feature photos, newspaper clippings, and videos that bring together the collective work of museums, historical societies, and academic institutions. By learning about the origins of our nation, we gain a greater appreciation of the progress that has shaped American history.

The “Innovation Timeline” showcases over 50 key innovations in technology and science spanning from the founding of our country to the present-day. It allows visitors to explore major milestones and lesser-known achievements from the launch of the first successful commercial steamboat in the 19th century to the modern-day discovery of CRISPR gene editing technology. Through this multi-media timeline, users will gain an appreciation for the role innovation has played in America’s success and learn more about the inventors and explorers that have propelled the nation’s progress.

As we collectively reflect on 250 years of history and look towards the future, this project aims to spark an exploration of the nation’s past that inspires the next generation of American innovators.

Nate Morris Endows Fellowship at George Washington University

WASHINGTON, D.C. /ScoopCloud/ -- The Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress (CSPC) is proud to announce The Nate Morris Fellowship at George Washington University, the third endowed Presidential Fellowship launched in collaboration with Morris, an alumnus of the Presidential Fellows program.

Each of the fellowships are being funded by the Morris Foundation. Other Nate Morris Fellowships have been established at the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs and the University of Kentucky's Gatton College of Business and Economics. All three provide leadership development opportunities for students at each institution of higher education.

The Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress created the Presidential Fellows Program in 1970 to inspire higher education students to become the public servants that would guide our nation's future. The Presidential Fellows program provides top collegiate students with a year-long opportunity to study the U.S. presidency, the public policymaking process, and our president's relationships with Congress, the media, and the American public. Former NATO Ambassador David Abshire created the modern iteration of the center.

Morris is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress.

Morris, of Lexington, Kentucky, is the founder and CEO of Rubicon, a widely acclaimed software and technology company setting a new industry standard and dubbed "America's technology company" operating in the waste and recycling industry. Morris was also part of the historic Presidential Online Town Hall with Bill Clinton held on George Washington's campus while he was a student, the first-ever engagement between an American President and the public through the internet.

While a full-time student, Morris worked in the United States House of Representatives and Senate, the United States Department of Labor, and the White House. In addition, he worked on several Federal and State campaigns.

This gift is the second Presidential Fellowship endowed by Mr. Morris, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress, joining the Nate Morris Fellowship at the University of Kentucky's Gatton College of Business and Economics, and creates a new opportunity for graduate students at Princeton.

While a fellow, Morris's fellowship advisor was the former United States Congressman and then faculty member the Honorable James A. Leach ('64) who was the John L. Weinberg/Goldman Sachs and Co. Visiting Professor of Public and International Affairs and served as a member of Princeton's Board of Trustees from 2002 to 2006.

This fellowship will expand the Fellows Program to include a participant from the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs, where Mr. Morris was selected to receive the fellowship at the Center for Study of Presidency and Congress during 2008-2009 academic term. The fellowship is specifically for graduate students at SPIA and the second fellowship for Princeton Students at CSPC which includes The Gerald L. Parsky Fellowship for undergraduate students, created for the former Princeton Trustee (1981 - 1991) and former member of the advisory council of the School of Public and International Affairs, Gerald L. Parsky ('64).

The Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress created the Presidential Fellows Program in 1970 to inspire higher education students to become the public servants that would guide our nation's future.
