Midland Public Schools (Michigan) Selects Synergy Education Platform

Midland leadership began looking for a new student information system (SIS) when the SIS the district had used for nearly 20 years could no longer meet critical needs. The district assembled an inclusive evaluation team ranging from district administrators to classroom teachers and special services staff, with cohorts led by subject matter experts from all major functional areas. Following a rigorous, months-long review of four student information systems, MPS selected Synergy Education Platform.

Kids Read Now continues literacy partnership with schools, eliminating the summer slide for Michigan students

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. /ScoopCloud/ -- Kids Read Now has partnered with school districts across Michigan, including Brighton Area Schools, Grand Haven Public Schools, Forest Hills Public Schools, and Coopersville Area Public Schools, to mail books directly to their students' homes over the summer. The number of students in the Kids Read Now program continues to grow with almost 400,000 books being mailed to students in 2020 alone!

Most students will experience reading skill loss over a typical summer break from school. Creating home libraries is key to preventing a steep learning slide due to summer break and recent extended school closures. "Kids are excited to receive books at home by mail, and not only eliminate the summer slide, but gain up to 2.5 months of learning during the summer," said Leib Lurie, CEO of Kids Read Now.

The ninth book of beautifully illustrated creative writing prompts concludes the program so children can write their own stories. Best of all, kids keep their new books!

Edupoint Selects Genesee Intermediate School District in Michigan for 5th Annual Partner for Life Award

Bob Weathers, Edupoint Founder and CEO, and Rob Wilson, Edupoint President and Chief Innovation Officer, recently notified Gilliam about the award by phone.

GISD is an educational leader in Genesee County, Michigan, delivering high-quality, innovative educational programs and support services to students, parents, and educators across its consortium of districts. GISD partnered with Edupoint in 2012 when the district selected Synergy as the SIS provider for its member districts.

"When we first implemented Synergy, Bob Weathers came to visit and was surprised to find a small team with many new people," Sue Gilliam said. "Typically, we would have rolled out a project this size over three years, but everyone was so excited we decided to do it all at once. I was impressed with Bob and Rob Wilson from the get-go. There was so much integrity and helpfulness. They did whatever they could do to make us successful and it was huge to have that kind of support."

The Edupoint leadership team was impressed with Sue and GISD as well. During a period of rapid growth in 2014, Edupoint recruited GISD to provide Synergy training support to some of the company's implementing districts across the U.S. In 2016, GISD became Edupoint's Synergy support provider in Tennessee. The district's Technology & Media Services team currently provides support and training services to 34 districts and charter schools in Michigan and 37 districts in Tennessee.

"Edupoint saw us doing good things and their response was to reach out and ask us to do more with them," said Luke Wittum, Assistant Superintendent of Technology and Media Services. "That partnership has helped us grow as an organization, supporting our own systems right here in Genesee County and continuing to grow our expertise, which benefits our constituents. Sue Gilliam retired in July after 12 years with GISD. In recognition of Gilliam's and GISD's valued contributions, Edupoint has awarded $10,000 to GISD to be granted as a student scholarship based on criteria of the district's choosing.

Greenville Public Schools Becomes First School District to Select Synergy Education Platform Through Michigan REMC SAVE Bid Project

GREENVILLE, Mich. /ScoopCloud/ -- Edupoint(R) Educational Systems has been selected by Michigan's Greenville Public Schools to implement the company's industry-leading Synergy(R) Education Platform, replacing PowerSchool in the semi-rural district serving approximately 3,800 students. Greenville is the first Michigan school district to contract with Edupoint through Michigan's REMC SAVE Bid Project, a cooperative purchasing program that saves schools money and simplifies the procurement of educational resources. REMC SAVE is a project of the REMC Association of Michigan on behalf of all Michigan schools. Edupoint is providing Synergy implementation and training in conjunction with its Michigan-based business partner Computer Management Technologies (CMT).
