TIPP CITY, Ohio, Nov. 18, 2014 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- The East Palestine City School District expects to save more than $56,500 annually by partnering with Energy Optimizers, USA, to improve energy efficiency at all three of its school buildings.
Lighting, temperature controls and boiler upgrades will significantly reduce the district's utility and related maintenance costs, freeing more dollars for student resources. Funding is provided through the Ohio School Facilities Commission's House Bill 264 program, enabling the district to make these cost-cutting improvements at no expense to taxpayers. Projected energy savings are guaranteed, and the payback for the upgrades is just over 9 years.

In total, the project will involve:
* Replacing interior lighting with more efficient lamps and removing unneeded lamps to cut waste.
* Replacing exterior lighting with LED technology to improve energy efficiency while enhancing building safety, appearance and security.
* Replacing dated boilers with more energy-efficient models.
* Installing smart kitchen exhaust and walk-in cooler/freezer controls to cut back on wasted electricity.
* Installing a main power surge protection to improve building safety and reliability.
* Extensively training district staff on how to make the most of the improved efficiencies.
The energy efficiency gained by the district will be equivalent to saving 42 acres of trees or taking 28 cars off the road. The project is expected to begin in the near future and be wrapped up by the summer of 2015.
