American Gem Society Asks Jeweler Moms What Fine Jewelry Trends to Expect This Mother’s Day

LAS VEGAS, Nev., April 29, 2026 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Fine jewelry has long been one of the most beloved Mother’s Day gifts. It’s personal, lasting, and chosen with love. To help find the perfect piece, the American Gem Society (AGS) turned to three AGS member jewelers who are also moms, asking them what trends they are noticing for Mother’s Day.

“This Mother’s Day, we anticipate jewelry trends that feel personal, effortless, and meant to be lived in. Clients are gravitating toward pieces with meaning; birthstones, engravings, or symbolic designs because they tell a story rather than just making a statement. There’s a strong move toward ‘quiet luxury’—beautifully made gold pieces, soft organic shapes, and subtle gemstone accents that she can wear every single day,” says Alexis Padis, CGA, Padis Jewelry, San Francisco, Walnut Creek, and Napa, CA. “Color is also having a moment—emeralds, sapphires, and unique stones set in modern ways feel fresh, joyful, and incredibly giftable for moms who want something a little different.”

“What we’re seeing for 2026 isn’t just a shift in style, but a shift in mindset. Mother’s Day jewelry is moving away from overtly sentimental, one-time gifts toward a more style-driven approach with pieces that become part of her daily uniform,” says Courtney Sivard, CSA, B.C. Clark, Oklahoma City, OK. “Think refined, enduring staples: sculptural gold, modern pearls, classic dress watches, and diamond essentials that feel effortless yet intentional. It’s less about personalization and more about creating a signature look that’s practical for her life but polished enough to elevate it.

“We are trending with multi-shape diamonds, particularly mixed bezel and prong settings in earrings, necklaces, and rings that are perfect for anyone who loves a little edge with their elegance,” notes Sarah Person, CG, Exclusively Diamonds, Mankato, MN.

In addition to these experts’ trend tips, here are a few practical guidelines for anyone shopping for fine jewelry this Mother’s Day:

  • Think long-term wear. The best gifts are pieces she’ll reach for every day, not just on special occasions. Look for styles that complement what she already owns and fit her actual lifestyle.
  • Ask questions. A trustworthy jeweler welcomes questions about metal quality, gemstone grading, and care instructions.
  • Consider her lifestyle. The most cherished jewelry is jewelry that gets worn. Think about whether mom favors understated everyday pieces or loves to make a statement, then shop accordingly.
  • Don’t overlook the presentation. For a gift this meaningful, the moment of giving matters. Ask your jeweler about gift presentation options.
  • Shop with an AGS credentialed jeweler. AGS credentialed jewelers must recertify annually in order to maintain their credential. They are trained to guide, not pressure, and to help you find the right piece for your budget and her taste.

Pearls, Moonstone, and Opal: The ‘Cloud Dancer’ Gems to Know for Valentine’s Day

LAS VEGAS, Nev., Feb. 6, 2026 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — On the heels of Pantone’s 2026 Color of the Year, Cloud Dancer, the American Gem Society is sharing Valentine’s Day inspiration featuring luminous white gemstones like pearls, moonstone, and white opal, timeless pieces that feel modern, romantic, and easy to wear long after February 14.

“White gemstones are resonating with jewelry lovers because they strike that rare balance: classic and current,” said Katherine Bodoh, CEO of the American Gem Society. “They’re romantic in a way that’s more personal than predictable, and they’re easy to wear long after Valentine’s Day.”

For shoppers who want their gift to feel thoughtful (not last-minute), white gemstones offer beauty with built-in symbolism. Their light tones pair with nearly everything, and their subtle shine creates that “wear it every day” factor that makes a gift feel truly loved.

THREE GEMSTONES TO CONSIDER FOR VALENTINE’S DAY

Pearls: timeless, with a modern edge
Pearls have moved far beyond “formal.” Right now, they’re showing up in fresh, easy styles that feel modern and confident, from simple studs to statement strands. Pearls also come with a story people connect with: they’re formed over time, layer by layer—exactly the kind of sentiment that fits Valentine’s Day. The draft also notes that many pearl farms support healthy water ecosystems, and pearls are produced without mining, making them a compelling option for shoppers who want to consider sustainability, too.

Moonstone: a dreamy glow you can’t fake
Moonstone is known for its soft, inner shimmer, a luminous effect that seems to move as the stone catches the light. It’s romantic, flattering, and distinctive without being flashy. Moonstone also has a long history in jewelry, and vintage or antique moonstone pieces can add another layer of meaning for gift-givers who love a little story (and a more sustainable way to shop).

White opal: calm on the outside, color underneath
White opal has a smooth, milky base with flashes of color that appear as it moves—like a secret only the wearer gets to fully enjoy. It’s a beautiful choice for someone who loves jewelry that feels personal and a little unexpected.

A QUICK CARE NOTE FOR SHOPPERS

As with all fine jewelry, it helps to choose the right piece for the wearer’s lifestyle. Pearls and opals can need a bit more care than diamonds, and a trusted American Gem Society jeweler can help shoppers choose settings and styles that suit everyday wear.

This year, whether you’re celebrating a longtime love, something new, or treating yourself, consider a softer take on Valentine’s Day. To find the perfect piece near you, shop with a professional, credentialed American Gem Society jeweler. Visit https://americangemsociety.org/findajeweler to find an AGS jeweler near you.

Want a Sparkling Valentine’s Day? Follow These Six Jewelry Buying Tips

LAS VEGAS, Nev. /ScoopCloud/ -- Whether you are staying at home this Valentine's Day, or plan to have a romantic evening out, the American Gem Society (AGS), a nonprofit association dedicated to consumer protection, has some advice to ensure the jewelry you buy adds extra sparkle to you and your loved one's celebration.

1. Have a general idea of the kind of jewelry you want to buy? If it's a gift, what does the recipient like? Consider the type and color of metal, the gemstone, setting, as well as the type of piece. Would this person want a watch, bracelet, necklace, or ring?

2. Shop with a credentialed, professional jeweler who is a member of an organization with a strict code of business ethics, such as AGS. An ethical and knowledgeable jeweler will share facts about the gemstone in your jewelry, like whether it is enhanced or treated, natural, or a laboratory-created gemstone.

3. Do your research online but visit the store so you can see the piece in person. You might love the way something looks on the screen, but when you see it up close, you may feel differently. Maybe it's the color or sheen of the metal or how the setting looks. Get an up-close look before making a significant purchase.

4. Ask about the return policy. If the gift misses the mark, you'll want to return it!

5. If a discount seems too good to be true, it might be. You've heard of the practice where a retailer inflates a price by a certain percent, then advertises it at a slightly lesser percent? AGS members must adhere to standards of business conduct that strictly prohibit this practice.

6. Buying diamonds? Ask for a diamond grading report from an independent laboratory. A thorough grading report covers all 4Cs-cut, color, clarity, and carat-so that the jewelry buyers know and understand the quality of what they are purchasing. AGS founded AGS Laboratories as a nonprofit diamond grading laboratory that shares its mission of consumer protection. This mission ensures jewelry buyers will receive an unbiased opinion on the quality of their diamonds.

-- Well-cut diamonds sparkle in candlelight or low light. Set the mood with the right lighting and watch the diamond sparkle on your loved one.

Inflation-proof Investments Made Possible with Luxury Diamonds

BOCA RATON, Fla. /ScoopCloud/ -- Last month, Rosenberg Diamonds & Co of Boca Raton, Florida, whose primary focus is high-end diamond and jewels, announced record-breaking sales for the second year in a row - despite the ongoing pandemic. And they aren't the only ones. One study showed that from January through May 2021, overall U.S. jewelry sales surged a very impressive 41% from the same period, two years earlier.

Of the company's continued rise in sales David Rosenberg, Founder, and President of Rosenberg Diamonds & Co said, "During the pandemic year of 2020, we broke records sales. What is remarkable is that in 2021, we have seen a tremendous increase from last year and have broken last year's record by mid-year."

All of this, in the face of not only a pandemic, but also rising inflation. But as Rosenberg explains, a diamond is a brilliant investment. "We're seeing some of the highest inflation we've seen in decades. Whether you are purchasing a luxury vehicle, yacht or private jet, prices are exponentially higher these days. But you can take comfort when purchasing a diamond. Luxury diamonds do not require a lot of space for storage, they are durable, and, unlike cars or yachts, you can enjoy them without any concerns about decreasing value. So while stock and cash investments remain flat, diamonds increase in value, making them an excellent hedge against inflation."

Rosenberg is starting to see a pent-up demand for luxury purchases and as many galas & functions make their way back on the calendar, customers are looking to dazzle on the red carpet. Even gifts for special occasions such as birthdays, holidays are becoming much more substantial. After all, luxury never seems to go out of style and diamonds continue to be everyone's best friend.

About Rosenberg Diamonds & Co:

David Rosenberg Diamonds is a high-end jewelry and diamond boutique located in Boca Raton, Florida. Rosenberg Diamonds & Co maintains exclusive relationships with some of the world's most prestigious and successful mines. As a result, they offer breathtaking white, D-flawless, natural fancy color diamonds and high-end jewels designed by David Rosenberg himself. GIA and AGS Award 2nd Annual Beatrice Shipley Scholarship to Ohio Jeweler

LAS VEGAS, Nev. /ScoopCloud/ -- The second annual Beatrice Shipley Scholarship - created by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and the American Gem Society (AGS) in 2019 - was awarded to Rachel Burazer, a sales associate and custom designer at Argo & Lehne Jewelers, an AGS member store in Columbus, Ohio.

The scholarship will cover complete tuition for the GIA Graduate Gemologist on-campus or distance program in Carlsbad, California, along with the costs of the AGS Way Course and entry to the 2021 AGS Conclave event in Dallas, Texas, September 12-14.

AGS and GIA jointly established the Beatrice Shipley Scholarship, which was announced by Susan Jacques, GIA president and chief executive officer, at the 2019 Conclave. AGS administered the application process and awarded the scholarship.

"AGS would like to thank GIA for their ongoing commitment to AGS and for partnering on this scholarship. Beatrice Shipley, along with her husband, changed the course of the jewelry industry," said Katherine Bodoh, CEO of the American Gem Society and AGS Laboratories. "We are so pleased to award Rachel with this scholarship. She is passionate about the jewelry industry, bettering herself, and serving her customers. I know this opportunity will propel her career forward."

"Beatrice Shipley was a trailblazing businesswoman who believed in and helped establish GIA and AGS and our shared mission to protect consumers. At the core of this mission is educating the next generation of jewelers, and we are honored to do this together with AGS, our sibling organization," said Susan Jacques, GIA president and CEO. "Congratulations to Rachel Burazer! I look forward to her continued success as a GIA alumni and member of AGS."

"Earning this award demonstrates that patience, determination, and loving what you do can get you anywhere in life," said Ms. Burazer. "I am so grateful to have this help to advance in my career and invest in my future. What an honor it is to represent my company and Beatrice Shipley! Thank you."

Born in Northeast Ohio, Rachel moved to Chicago, where she obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Design. After working in the food and beverage industry and at Bloomingdale's, Rachel realized that she needed to combine her hospitality experience with a more refined retail environment. She first worked at an AGS member store, Steve Quick Jeweler, where she was given the knowledge and trust to accelerate on her own. With that experience and success, the transition to Argo & Lehne was smooth. Currently, Rachel acts as a mentor to her colleagues, a liaison with many vendors, and an employee trusted by the customers.

Both GIA and AGS were founded in the 1930s when Robert and Beatrice Shipley cashed in their savings to create two organizations with the goal of educating jewelers, professionalizing the industry, and creating a guild for these jewelers to join.

About the American Gem Society

The American Gem Society (AGS), founded in 1934 by Robert M. Shipley, is a nonprofit trade association dedicated to promoting a high standard of ethics, continuous education, and consumer protection within the jewelry industry. AGS awards credentials for its members, who are held to the highest ethical and professional standards in the industry and must pass annual recertification examinations to maintain their titles.

About GIA

An independent nonprofit organization, GIA (Gemological Institute of America), established in 1931, is recognized as the world's foremost authority in gemology. GIA invented the famous 4Cs of Color, Clarity, Cut and Carat Weight in the early 1950s and in 1953, created the International Diamond Grading System™ which, today, is recognized by virtually every professional jeweler in the world.

Through research, education, gemological laboratory services, and instrument development, the Institute is dedicated to ensuring the public trust in gems and jewelry by upholding the highest standards of integrity, academics, science, and professionalism.

PORTLAND, Maine /ScoopCloud/ -- Zootility, a design-driven US manufacturing company, announced the launch of wearable Vaccinated Tags, in response to the U.S. officials easing face mask guidance for COVID-19 vaccinated people.

The bar shaped pendants have a bold, easily readable "Vaccinated" message that allows others to be aware of the individual's vaccination status. The subtle size and minimalist style make it versatile and easy to wear, yet instantly recognizable. The pendants are made from 3mm sheets of stainless steel or solid brass, materials that are easy to care for and are durable.

This distinctive jewelry is laser cut in small batches and demonstrates the attention to detail and uniqueness of the product. Being a made-in-USA product, it supports jobs locally, assures quality, and ensures confidence in timely fulfillment.

"The most recent CDC guidelines lifted the outdoor mask-wearing mandate, both in recognition of the lower risk and to provide an incentive to get shots. With vaccinated people not needing to wear masks outdoors when knowing the vaccination status of others, social interactions in public or with friends, neighbors, coworkers, or classmates may create a lot of questions regarding vaccination status. With global vaccination efforts continuing to be strong, but with many still hesitant, we thought this jewelry would help start, or even avoid, potentially awkward conversations," says Nate Barr, Founder of Zootility.

Visit Zootility's website at http://vaccinatedtag.com/ to order a vaccinated tag or pendant for yourself or gift it to a loved one.

Zootility designs, launches, and manufactures exciting functional everyday products that solve interesting problems, using clever solutions, quality materials, and futuristic technology. For more information on Zootility, please visit http://www.zootility.com/.

JewelryBund.com Continues to Make the Mark on Excellent, Decade-long Wholesale Jewelry Service to Fashion and Jewelry Boutique Owners Worldwide

EMERYVILLE, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- After more than ten years of success, JewelryBund Inc. continues to become one of the biggest professional fashion and jewelry manufacturing and wholesaling business. In its service to the wholesale jewelry industry, the company shows distinct leadership to the brand with JewelryBund's customer-oriented mindset that gained the trust of over 600,000 customers across 200 countries.

Founded in 2008, JewelryBund Inc. revolutionized the business of providing top-quality jewelry and accessories for the sole purpose of reselling. Starting a jewelry business has its challenges, especially when it comes to securing the products. The traditional approach to negotiating with manufacturers is to physically shop for the items. Retailers and business owners never had the luxury to solely buy their stocks online due to the fear of having an inventory that wasn't evaluated properly.

Bigger online platforms like Etsy and Faire have been bridging the gap between manufacturers and resellers. Their online marketplaces revolve around the business strategy that lets individual sellers post their own listings for their clients to see. Both of these platforms, like other online marketplaces, thrive on having as many sellers post as many products as possible. This strategy allows the platforms to have a wide range of items in their catalogs.

However, buying on these platforms means dealing with thousands of different sellers who are also communicating with their own manufacturers just to fulfill the order. The look behind the scenes will tell you that in most cases, these indirect purchases lead to a higher procurement cost with a time-consuming and inconsistent service level experience.

That is where JewelryBund effectively changes the scene of manufacturing and wholesaling. Through JewelryBund, their customers were able to browse, order, and receive items in bulk from direct factory sources without the need to travel back and forth for negotiations with resellers. All items that are sold on the company's website are owned and produced by JewelryBund which made quality-control more efficient and effective. Jewelry resellers can buy all demanded jewelry items at one-stop without worrying about the potential troublesome multi-rounds negotiations with many sellers.

By having self-owned products, JewelryBund takes full guarantee in providing fashion and jewelry items of high-quality catered for reselling. Consistency is highly regarded in the products which makes it suitable for rebranding and reselling. Even without physical evaluation of clients, the quality stays the same.

Over the past ten years, JewelryBund operates three jewelry and accessories factories in China, making the company well-equipped for handling large-scale orders at the lowest costs possible. With such a customer-oriented goal, JewelryBund became one of the leading one-stop sources for all kinds of jewelry products.

In an incredibly competitive market, JewelryBund understands the importance of being first in the fashion trends so their clients can also be the leading jewelry shops and boutiques. Every piece curated under JewelryBund is backed by careful market and customer research to pinpoint all the fashion needs and wants when it comes to Western and Eastern jewelry trends.

The product catalogs under JewelryBund refresh daily to stay true to that goal. Designs are constantly added to capture the newest trends of the market while the old ones are phased out to make sure that every piece of an item bought by the clients is market-competitive and worthy of selling.

Aside from having the best products at the market with the best prices possible, JewelryBund is also highly coveted due to the company's track record of holding steady relationships with the clients. JewelryBund helps its clients embrace the success of jewelry reselling by having professional clients' service support available at all times through their live chat, email, and official community pages.

In addition to that, the company goes beyond the basic means of customer support. JewelryBund also offers business supporting services for would-be entrepreneurs planning to start their own online jewelry business on eBay and Amazon. Despite being a large company, JewelryBund places high importance on every start-up business of every size and provides every support manageable in order to secure their client's success.

As stated by JewelryBund vice president - Cynthia Wong, "We take customers' satisfaction as the first priority because we consider our clients as our business partners who will grow up with us for doing jewelry sales business. We win trusts and maintain long-term business relationship for a bilateral success."

All the heartfelt efforts of JewelryBund certainly paid their due. The company, along with its clientele, continues to grow after such a strong decade. With their belief in "One World, One Jewelry Wholesale Price", JewelryBund continues to push the boundaries to be the leading manufacturer and wholesaler of refined, quality products.

The company's senior business development manager, William Lee added, "Our world-class customer service will guide start-up jewelry businesses all the way to become profitable with rapid business expansions and developments and offer valuable resales experience."

New App Connects Shoppers to Professional Jewelers and Simplifies the Jewelry Buying Process

LAS VEGAS, Nev. /ScoopCloud/ -- The American Gem Society (AGS), a nonprofit association dedicated to consumer protection, gemological education, and business ethics, is excited to introduce their new app, AGS Go. AGS Go is designed to help consumers who are interested in buying fine jewelry by giving them the information they need to find the perfect piece of jewelry.

Users can download AGS Go and access a variety of tools to help them find fine jewelry for their jewelry wish list or gift list. The Find a Jeweler search connects consumers with professional AGS jewelers in their area and gives them information on the jeweler's credentials, gemological education as well as important store information. They can search on either a jeweler's name, stores in a particular radius to their location, or find an appraiser.

Additionally, they can access the American Gem Society's social media sites and browse jewelry for ideas and inspiration. They can also learn more about AGS, or their nonprofit diamond grading lab, and verify their AGS Laboratories diamond grading report on the site by simply entering the report number.

"We wanted to provide access to easy tools and useful information that helped jewelry buyers connect with jewelers they can trust, and who can help them find the perfect piece of jewelry," said Katherine Bodoh, CEO of the American Gem Society and AGS Laboratories. "When you are buying something as valuable and meaningful as fine jewelry, there are a number of factors to consider, from preference to price, to knowing which gemstone or metal is right for you. AGS Go enables jewelry shoppers to simplify the shopping process and enhance the experience, all in one convenient location."

AGS Go can be downloaded for free from either the Apple Store or Google Play. Search for AGS Go.

Fall Trends to Transition into Winter

LAS VEGAS, Nev. /ScoopCloud/ -- Jewelry lovers, the American Gem Society has a message for you: this is your season. This fall, some of the most stand-out fine jewelry you will see comes from members of the American Gem Society, a community of jewelry professionals dedicated to protecting the jewelry-buying public through a high standard of ethics and ongoing education.

According to Katherine Bodoh, CEO of the American Gem Society and AGS Laboratories, these five fine jewelry trends will provide the added detail you need this season to complete your ensemble. These pieces are also instant classics that can easily transition to winter, spring, and beyond. Be Zoom ready with any of these trends.

Medallions: this summer favorite is not slowing down. You can wear medallions alone or layer them or go bold and dazzle with medallion earrings and bracelets. Medallions stun in gold, but silver tones also make an unforgettable impression.

Restored Jewelry: do you need a jewelry makeover? Your local American Gem Society jeweler can work wonders on heirloom jewelry. Diamonds and gemstones can be removed from a ring or any piece of outdated or worn/well-loved jewelry and transferred to a modern piece of wearable art for your ears, neck, wrist, or fingers. If you can think it, they can most likely create it. A number of AGS designers also update older pieces by using recycled diamonds, other precious gemstones, charms, and much more to create contemporary designs.

Big Links, Long Chains: an extra-long chain is sophisticated and helps complete a look, especially one with higher necklines. Plus, let's face it: it also means no fiddling with a finicky clasp. This fall's styles feature big links for a bold statement, an homage to eighties jewelry. Slip it over your head, wear some diamond stud earrings, add a classic watch, and you are good to go. Or go short: choker-style chain necklaces in a high-polished metal provides an edgy yet glamorous look.

Pearls: the popularity of this organic gem endures. Staying with the big links trend, pair a chunky link with a drop pearl and you have a showstopper. Or, layer long strands of pearls with a couple of silver or gold link necklaces for a style that says there is nothing wrong with a wrist party!

Bright Colors. If you are a fan of seventies jewelry, the jewelry gods have smiled upon you. This season, think jewelry painted in enamel or treated in bright hues of red, blue, green, and yellow. Brighten up a dark outfit or enliven your mood on a rainy autumn day. If you plan to invest in one accessory this year...this is it!

New Advanced ASET Diamond Reports for A CUT ABOVE® Hearts and Arrows Diamonds

HOUSTON, Texas /ScoopCloud/ -- Whiteflash today announced that they will be providing an Advanced ASET report on all new A CUT ABOVE® hearts and arrows diamonds. The proprietary platinum report from the American Gem Society Laboratories (AGSL) is the most exacting diamond report available and includes comprehensive light performance based cut quality information in the form of grading and graphical light mapping.

Previously the A CUT ABOVE® report included two light maps; a face up map showing light return, contrast and light leakage, and a second pavilion view showing the facet precision of the hearts and arrows patterning. Because the amount and distribution of contrast is so critical to diamond light performance, the new Advanced ASET will add a second face-up light map. Going forward all AGS certificates for A CUT ABOVE® Super ideal diamonds will come with three light maps - face up at 30° and 40°, as well as the pavilion view. The branded AGS A CUT ABOVE® proprietary certificate with Advanced ASET is the most comprehensive diamond document available in the market, and the first diamond report to contain three separate light maps.

Standard platinum reports feature a single face up light map printed at 33.5° of obscuration. This is a compromise between the 30° and 40° that is assessed by the mathematical calculations performed by the computerized ray tracing system pioneered by AGSL. The grading algorithm assesses contrast at both 30 and 40. The default ASET environment is structured at 30 which is the approximate angular range that light is obscured by an observer's head shadow at normal viewing distances. But if the observer is near sighted and observing the stone at closer than normal distance, head shadow can obstruct closer to 40°.

It is important to know that a diamond does not go dark from obstruction at very close viewing, even as it may perform well at standard viewing distance. The grading algorithm factors 2 parts 30° and 1 part 40°, hence the 33.5° on the standard report. The advanced report will provide the consumer a graphical look at both close and closer viewing distances.

For more details on the benefits to diamond shoppers of the upgraded report please see our page on the Whiteflash Advanced ASET - https://www.whiteflash.com/diamond-education/ags-advanced-aset-diamond-certificate

It is the mission of AGS to provide the best in consumer education and protection. As AGS members it has always been the goal of Whiteflash to provide our customers with the most complete set of evaluations and diagnostics available on the diamonds we offer.

Connecting with Customers in a COVID World

LOS ANGELES, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- Today, small businesses struggle to find their stride of maintaining relevance during a pandemic. One local Los Angeles entrepreneur - Kim Ashley, founder of Kim Ashley Design - found a meaningful way to connect with her customers.

Ashley has built a successful online business selling her signature stackable gold bead bracelets, chokers and link chains to clients across the nation. "I wanted to find a way to address COVID-19 that struck a positive helpful note for my customers," says Ashley. "I wanted to say be safe by gifting them something useful. It's not about sales right now, it's about reaching out. As a female entrepreneur I've always been focused on empowering women and now more than ever we need to come together to create that spark."

Ashley settled on an easy to carry hand sanitizer pen and sent it to every customer as a gift. There was no purchase involved. "I loved getting my pen!" stated Julia Martinez, a customer. "It was something unexpected and thoughtful. I think new habits are going to stick with all of us and hand hygiene is probably top of the list. This pen is great, I carry it just like sunglasses always there in my side pocket."

As small businesses, the engine of the American jobs machine, find courage and commitment to come back to life, they must create new customer connections. This language between business and patron has to say both we understand the world we are coming back to and we have not forgotten the world we came from just 9 weeks ago. Offering gestures of support during this time will go a long way to strengthen ties between re-starting the American economy boldly.

Kim Ashley Design sells handcrafted stackable gold bead jewelry adorned with gemstones. She lives and works in Los Angeles and her product is American made.

Tips from the American Gem Society on Selling Your Fine Jewelry in 2020

LAS VEGAS, Nev. /ScoopCloud/ -- The diamond necklace from an ex, the gold watch that sits in your jewelry box, the ruby necklace that you loved-a decade ago. We all have jewelry that we no longer wear. Selling your old jewelry is an option, but it can be hard to know how and where to get started. Here are a few tips from the American Gem Society (AGS) on getting the most from your rings, earrings, bracelets, and necklaces.

1. Know the worth

You may love your jewelry, but the emotional value you assign to your jewelry often has little to do with the current fair market price of your piece. Many factors go into determining the current value of a piece of jewelry, including fashion and style, current condition, designer (or not), and wearability or repair needs. Remember, that chain or gold watch is always worth its weight in gold, but may not be worth any more than that.

The best way to determine your item's value is by due diligence. Let several jewelers evaluate it and ask for a purchase offer. Have an AGS trained Certified Gemologist® (CG), a Certified Gemologist® Appraiser (CGA) or an Independent Certified Gemologist® Appraiser (ICGA), recommend an accurate replacement value. Keep in mind that your used item will not bring the same price as a new comparable item.

It is important to know the new price in order to determine the selling price. You should expect low offers in comparison to the replacement value, because any jeweler who purchases it will try to resell it, and in effect becomes the middle-man who will sell it for a higher price to make a profit.

2. Be informed

Consider how quickly you want to sell your jewelry. If you want an immediate sale (i.e. cash in hand today), your options will be limited on where you can sell, and how much cash someone might be willing to pay immediately. Many jewelry stores offer a consignment option, where you leave your piece with them, and upon sale, they pay you. This is often the best way to maximize the money you receive.

If you are able to wait, researching some other possibilities could net you a better price for your jewelry, or provide other options, like re-setting gemstones from your jewelry into a new piece.

Visit an AGS jeweler who buys jewelry (not all do; make sure to call ahead) and learn your options to sell your piece or work out another solution.

3. Be realistic

Have a range in mind of what you would accept for the piece and be willing to accept an offer in that range. Be aware you may get offers that are higher, or possibly lower, based upon all the factors previously mentioned.

If you are looking for a jeweler in your area who might be interested in purchasing your jewelry, or if you are interested in re-setting your gemstones into a new piece, visit http://www.ags.org/findajeweler.

Talon International Inc. Joins CFDA’s Supply Chain Collective

LOS ANGELES, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- On Friday, Dec. 13, 2019, Talon International and the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) announced their partnership for the CFDA's Supply Chain Collective, the not-for-profit trade association's new initiative designed to bring even greater value to the nearly 500 American womenswear, menswear, jewelry and accessory designers in their membership.

"The Supply Chain Collective aims to help alleviate hurdles related to topics such as sustainable solutions for materials, packaging, hangers and plastics, logistics for fulfillment, warehousing and distribution, inventory management, size inclusivity, and artisan sourcing, among others," wrote Cal McNeil, Program Manager at the CFDA on Friday. "The inaugural Supply Chain Collective partners include: ApparelMagic, Arch & Hook, Bergen Logistics, KEDIC Fashion Workshop, Nest, SwatchOn, Talon International, Inc., and TIPA."

Founded in 1893, Talon International's story began with fulfilling one of the fashion industry's most basic needs via the zipper. It's that revolutionary invention that set the company's deep roots as a fashion forward accessories supplier now celebrating 125 years as a pioneer in the industry. Talon is an integral piece in moving fashion forward with its offering of trim, packaging, Adjustec(r) stretch technology, and more that have all evolved within the industry.

As such, Talon International will now be the CFDA's Supply Chain Collective provider of zippers, trim, packaging, stretch technology, as well as providing a variety of sustainable and ECO like solutions. The latter will be fulfilled, in part, with their use of materials such as Ocean Waste, Recycled Polyester, Eco Plating, BCI Cotton, Oxo-biodegradable Polybags, FSC Paper, and more, along with offering full sets of marketing materials curated to give CFDA members an edge in the industry.

Having longstanding partnerships with many of the CFDA's existing members already, Talon International's CEO Larry Dyne shared his excitement to begin collaborating with many of the organization's other members, as well as the contributions Talon will be making to the Supply Chain Collective's sustainability initiatives.

"As a provider of single-use zippers, trim, and packaging products, we are finding imaginative ways our customers may re-use our products rather than just throw them away," says Dyne. "Whether it's our sustainable hang tag that can be planted to grow trees, our Ocean Waste Ghost Nets material that can be transformed into zippers, buckles, D Rings, buttons, and more, we focus on reducing our impact on the environment."

American Gem Society Offers Tips for Holiday Jewelry Purchases

LAS VEGAS, Nev. /ScoopCloud/ -- The American Gem Society (AGS), a nonprofit association dedicated to consumer protection and the ongoing education of jewelers, is providing tips for consumers to keep in mind this holiday season before hitting the stores to make significant diamond and jewelry purchases.

* Be aware of inflated pricing. If a discount seems too good to be true, it probably is. AGS member jewelers must adhere to standards of business conduct that strictly prohibit inflating a price by a certain percent, then advertising that it is that same percentage off.
* See it. Touch it. Feel it. Though the prices for jewelry found online are sometimes lower, AGS recommends that consumers see, touch, and feel the jewelry they are considering purchasing - especially diamonds. Online purchases can look different in person than on a screen.
* Ask for a diamond grading report. It's important to ask for a diamond grading report from an independent laboratory. A thorough grading report covers all 4Cs-cut, color, clarity, and carat-so that the jewelry buyers know and understand the quality of what they are purchasing. AGS Laboratories was founded in 1996 by AGS as a nonprofit diamond grading laboratory that shares their mission of consumer protection. This mission ensures jewelry buyers will receive an unbiased opinion on the quality of their diamond.
* Ask for Credentials. AGS encourages jewelry buyers to shop with a credentialed, professional jeweler, who is a member of an organization with a strict code of business ethics, such as AGS. By shopping with a jeweler who knows and understands gems and metals, jewelry buyers will feel less stress and more confident with their purchase.

To find a credentialed AGS jeweler, visit https://www.americangemsociety.org/find-a-jeweler.
