A one-day immersive experience transforming Los Angeles' historic railway museum into a living storybook of migration, memory, sound, movement, and avant-garde fashion

LOS ANGELES, Calif., May 26, 2026 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Anima Initiative, the Los Angeles-based nonprofit dedicated to supporting independent and underrepresented artists through interdisciplinary programming, presents “VENIA’s Dear, Sincerely,” — a one-day immersive cultural experience taking place Saturday, June 6, 2026 at the historic Travel Town Museum in Griffith Park.

Created in partnership with Los Angeles avant-garde atelier VENIA and with the support of Travel Town Museum Foundation, “VENIA’s Dear, Sincerely,” transforms the iconic railway grounds into a cinematic living storybook exploring migration, memory, industrial romance, and collective imagination through large-scale installation, live music, choreography, immersive sound, digital storytelling, and theatrical fashion presentation.

Marking Anima Initiative’s first large-scale public arts experience, the event brings together emerging and established artists across visual art, music, movement, experimental sound, and fashion within a single site-specific environment open to the city. Inspired by the symbolism of rail travel during the Second Industrial Revolution, the experience unfolds through a five-part narrative arc — Discovery, Adaptation, Memory, Integration, and Departure — tracing the emotional landscape between leaving one world behind and arriving in another.

From 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM, guests are invited to explore immersive activations and live performances across the museum grounds.

Featured acclaimed collaborators include visual artists DeAngelo Ableidinger and Dilan Torres; avant-garde saxophonist Patrick Shiroishi; pianist Nelson Diaz; experimental musician Dylan Fujioka; layered environmental sound design by Dolce Wang; and an original audio composition weaving stories from Ukrainian refugees by award-winning composer Luke Mombrea and award-winning arts journalist Polina Cherezova.

The experience will also feature a newly commissioned ensemble choreography by Masha Cherezova, alongside digital collaborations with immersive media company 4DV and inspirational shopping agent app VIBA, curated alongside Zoey Zhu.

At 6:00 PM, the evening culminates in VENIA’s theatrical runway presentation accompanied by a special live performance from Arcana Nomadica — the internationally renowned chamber ensemble featuring Luanne Homzy, Felix Korchendorfer, Nikolai Sivchuk, and Marco Perciavalle.

Changing Climate, Changing Communities Art Exhibition – Local Reflections on a Global Issue

OXFORD, Ohio, Feb. 27, 2026 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Engaging for Climate in Oxford (ECO) proudly presents the fourth iteration of the Changing Climate, Changing Communities art exhibition at the Oxford Community Arts Center. This lively and thought‑provoking show, organized by ECO—a grassroots group dedicated to fostering new ways of talking about climate change—invites both amateur and experienced artists to share their creative expressions of what climate change means to them.

This exhibition emphasizes dialogue rather than debate, encouraging communities to reflect on how climate change is perceived and how it impacts our daily lives. Its purpose is to inspire deeper connections to our relationship with nature, even as perspectives and priorities continue to evolve.

“Climate change’s impact can be observed in drastic ways depending on where you look. Yet its effects are everywhere—and they are happening now, right here in the Midwest,” said Shafkat Khan, Director of Conservation, Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium.

Through this exhibition, the greater Oxford community is invited to engage in conversations on climate change as a local challenge with real‑world implications.

Viewing works of art from diverse perspectives allows people to learn about climate change in ways that resonate personally,” said Katie Feilen, Director of Project Dragonfly, Miami University Department of Biology.

The 2026 Changing Climate, Changing Communities exhibition is free and open to the public, including the opening reception on Friday, March 13, 2026, from 6–9 p.m.

Echoes of the Forest was founded to honor the trees lost in our region by transforming them into meaningful works of art. Through the hands of local artists, these salvaged remnants become powerful symbols of renewal—supporting the creative economy and showcasing the resilience of our artistic community. By placing these “Echoes” in areas impacted by natural disasters, the initiative promotes restoration, inspires environmental awareness, and strengthens community connection.

The Echo project represents a powerful blend of art, nature, and resilience, designed to honor the recovery of one of western North Carolina’s hardest-hit regions after Hurricane Helene. This first Echo is a symbol of transformation both for the land and the people who call it home. Created by Chester Shuey of Appalachian Joinery, this masterfully crafted piece is made from an 800-pound piece of Hurricane Helene salvaged white oak. It’s sure to evoke reflection and encourage hope and healing.

“When Liisa first asked me about getting involved with Echoes of the Forest, I knew immediately that this was a special project and one that I couldn’t wait to get on board with. Within a few days, I got my salvaged white oak wood and was ready to get started on my bench. Right away, I knew what I wanted to design. After a challenging experience with postpartum depression, Book turned to her craft as a source of solace and healing. While his portraits are more than simple individuals; instead, capturing autobiographical moments and a broader humanity. In the area of visual arts, the exhibition will present the works of Brazilian painter and illustrator Niege Borges, Japanese sand artist Naoshi, Lebanese mix media artist Hildos, Hongkongese artist and milliner Penny Chu, Iranian Illustrator Elham Ataeiazar, and Spanish painters Amaia Marzabal and Aida Miro. Macedonian visual artist Mensur Bojda, Ukranian surface and texture artist Maksym Kazarin, and Indian multidisciplinary artist Kuldeep Singh are also taking part in this show.

In the area of photography, the show will include three distinguished professionals, including the fashion and documentary photographer from Sweden, Izabella Demavlys, the Canadian fine art and wedding photographer Erica Reade, and the boudoir and fine arts photographer from Mexico, Gaspar Marquez, who is also involved in the production of the show.

Additionally, the event will include the works of exceptional creatives in the field of design, such as English graphic designer Crissy Bogusz, Chilean art director Nicolas Mardones, Indian urban designer Uttara Ramakrishnan, Spanish architectural designer Ana Avanzini, and the Czech 3D designers Johana & Maxim Kroft. In the area of fashion, the show will also count on the works of Chinese creative director Churou Wang, Japanese costume designer Saori Mitome, and Chinese bespoke tailor and designer Yuecen Cai.

Adding to the exhibition and organized with the support of Brazilian producer Roberta Fernandes, the event will also host two special performances and presentations. Spanish actor and producer Edu Diaz will present an excerpt from his successful play Fantastic Mr. S, recently presented at the United Solo Festival. The Brazilian editor and astrologist, Larissa Xavier, will also participate in the show with a presentation of her collaborative project "New York Women & The Zodiac."

An Innovative Approach to Bringing Historical Roots to Contemporary Art

LOS ANGELES, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- Over the past four decades, Kaloust Guedel has worked in diverse styles and techniques, constantly searching for the "perfect" resonance, ever aware that his search is an endless one. His next experiment was to combine a painting he had painted with a sculpture he didn't particularly like.

"I thought something was missing with it, but couldn't put my finger on it," he said. To see what would happen, he cut out the shape of the figure in hand and placed it inside the cut area, unaware that he had stumbled upon an old inlay technique.

Guedel's rediscovery of inlay through art is a pioneering achievement in contemporary painting. Guedel calls the inlay work "an investigation of immersion in painting."

The use of inlay is very widespread in decorative art. The earliest example of the inlay dates back to 2500 B.C., and it comes from Mesopotamia's Sumer civilization. There are also examples from China dating back to 400 B.C. Sculptures of inlay work are found in various periods. It was later popularized in Europe by Andre-Charles Boulle (1642-1732).

Guedel's prior work was based on the idea of excessivism. He was instrumental in bringing the movement to the masses. He curated the inaugural exhibition at a Los Angeles art gallery. As the movement's popularity grew around the world, other artists, fashion designers, and musicians joined in, transforming it into a global art movement in line with globalization. Even Gallero magazine went so far as to call it, "... truly a millennial movement in all senses of the word."

Guedel talks about his work with the utmost passion. "What interests me is the relationship between the elements that I find captivating for my curiosity at the moment of creation. I see my work as a body of records of ideas, thoughts, and feelings. The timeline can be traced by going back to my earlier works and determining my feelings and thoughts at the time of their creation," he said.

He adds, "To me, art is a form of communication in which you express yourself about something; you do so from the depths of your spiritual being; a place where consciousness cannot fully penetrate. I suppose that is what makes art so mysterious and so individualistic."

Slaughter

Jovan Slaughter was crucial to the development of GCCP's structure, assisting the people of Flint to better represent themselves in the media. Slaughter has been assisting the communities of Flint for over 5 years allowing opportunities for the residents to speak on an open forum of their personal endeavors. As such Slaughter has in-depth knowledge in the field of Community Advocacy and Promotion including the operations side (e.g., running day-to-day operations) and the business management side (e.g., staffing, marketing, etc.).

High Tied

Jaden Switalski was responsible for editing the footage scheduled by Jovan Slaughter after being captured by Jaiden Hogan. Switalski specializes in skills such as Video Production, Editing, Scripting, Graphic Design, Audio Engineering, and Google and YouTube SEO (Search Engine Optimization) since his beginnings in content creation in 2013.

Jonathan McKay, the founder of Keeping Tabs, started a partnership in February with Jaden Switalski, to develop digital assets and launch High Tied Productions in the Web 3 Digital Space. High Tied Production is owned and operated by Jaden Switalski. Studying the inner workings of social media marketing through its peak he became aware of the gaps in the industry that needed to be filled. High Tied Production was founded to fill those gaps in content creation.

Keeping Tabs has since premiered the first High Tied Augmented Reality Filter with technologies provided by the Meta Suite and Spark AR and began development on the first model for the High Tied Metaverse, "High Tied Island." Van Der Plas

Jonathan McKay was contacted by Van Der Plas Gallery's online curation department for the exhibition, "Flight of the Butterfly," which hosts Virtual Gallery tours post-show. Van Der Plas is a core part of the contemporary and underground art scene in New York.

McKay and Switalski paired with painter Jessica Peterson, to create a 20 x 36 acrylic painting on canvas of High Tied Island. Continuing to push the boundaries of traditional media and be a driving force in the development of artists and content creation through the rise of digital curation.

Al Diaz who is well-known for his collaboration with Jean-Michel Basquiat on SAMO(c) was also featured in the Flight of the Butterfly.

Linnea Moritz is an artist who specialized in cubism; an art style specialized in capturing the essence and energy of an object, scene, or person, rather than focusing on the physical representation as we see it. This summer she was selected twice to exhibit at the Van Der Plas Gallery in the art exhibits "Rays of Light" and "Flight of the Butterfly" on the Lower East Side of Manhattan in New York City.

Linnea Moritz has also collaborated directly with Model Jonathan McKay to create a multimedia art piece for the 'Art Groove' show at Bowery Art Room. The art piece was created as a testimony to highlight McKay's important role as an influence; his travels and partnerships through Flint Innovative Solutions allowed him to have a positive impact on his local community.

NYC Artist Andy Golub Combats Hopelessness at the 9th NYC Bodypainting Day

"The news cycle is more like a worry cycle. It can lead to feelings of hopelessness whether we realize it or not," said organizer Andy Golub. "So we decided to put hope at the forefront of Bodypainting Day this year."

The theme of this year's Bodypainting Day is Hope.

Fresh off the success of his Naked Theater production of Freedom Dance and live body painting at Pridefest, Golub continues to add color and joy to the streets of New York City. In 2011, he was arrested for painting nude models in Times Square. Today, he is hosting body painting events around the city, joined by other artists and models, spreading the message of free expression, empowerment, and acceptance of all people.

National Nurses Week Kicks Off with Virtual Portrait Exhibition Honoring Pandemic Healthcare Workers

One winner from each age group was selected based on scoring from the judging panel. Exiled Afghan Artist Paints Without Arms or Legs – Inspires Hero Award

Denied the usage of her arms and legs by a birth defect, Robaba started painting at age 12, learning to hold brushes in her mouth. Not only did she exhibit her paintings internationally by 16, but in 2019 she founded a school in Kabul, the Robaba Art and Cultural Center.

When the Taliban took over Kabul on August 16, they evicted the Center's employees and shut it down. Now it is rebuilding itself online.

The Center's latest project is the Hero Award (heroaward.net) which recognizes significant achievements on behalf of the UN's 17 Agenda for Sustainability Goals. Previous winners hail from Kenya, Bangla Desh, Indonesia, Colombia, and Malaysia.

"Robaba's immense courage and persistence, shown by her overcoming a profound disability to build a career as an artist, as well as being a mentor for others, is something that can inspire achievers all over the world," says Chang, "and that is what the Hero Award is designed to do."

The Hero Award is conferred monthly upon those who demonstrate extraordinary achievement. In some cases, sketches, caricatures, GIFs, memes, and paintings of the Honorees will be offered as NFTs on Robaba's marketplace. Artist Zoya Cherkassky recently detoured from her usual practice to explore the topic of female sex work in a series called "Women Who Work." In this drawing, Cherkassky beautifully and hauntingly portrays the disassociation and alienation many women experience during sexual intercourse and intimacy. Inspired by the horrific story and subsequent Russian mythologization of Viktor Mokhov, who abducted two teenage girls in 2000 and held them hostage as enslaved sex workers for four years in a bunker, the drawing highlights the power dynamics, abuse and fear that can accompany sex and the sex work industry.

Specially designed in 1890 by French cabinet-maker Louis Soubrier for King Edward VII (1841-1910), the Prince of Wales and King of England from 1901 to 1910, who was also known as "Dirty Bertie," the love chair enabled the infamous playboy prince to partake in sexual amusement with minimal exertion in numerous ways, including with two ladies at once. Le Chabanais, one of the extravagant brothels of nineteenth and twentieth century Paris, kept the original chair in a private room for the future king's personal use. While the exact chair used by "Dirty Bertie" is now owned by Soubrier's great-grandson, the example on view at the Museum of Sex is one of just two replicas based on the original design. The only other known replica is on view at the Sex Machines Museum in Prague. The chair has been featured in both BBC and Smithsonian documentaries such as the "Private Lives of Monarchs."

As part of the rotation of new objects into "Artifact [xxx]," the Museum has also recently hung Keith Haring's "Bad Boys" (1986), a set of 6 framed silkscreen prints on loan from the Keith Haring Foundation until February 2022. The exhibition also features objects on loan from the Kinsey Institute for Research in Sex, Gender, and Reproduction at Indiana University Bloomington, Stanley B. Burns, MD Collection & Archive and the Dittrick Medical History Center at the College of Arts and Sciences at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH.

The manifestation and creation of the 400 pound "Mating Dance of Hummingbirds," now standing on historical Duke Street in downtown Kingston, is a tremendous testimony to perseverance, resilience and the magnetic power of creativity. Hoyes withstood the isolation of quarantine, the scarcity of the pandemic and even his own battle with Covid to rise majestically victorious, much like the hummingbirds, the national birds of Jamaica, atop his monument.

Hoyes, best known for his vibrantly, vivid oils on canvas renditions, is no stranger to sculpture. His six-foot "Roots of Pegasus" bronze figure for a private collector and his eight-foot three-ton granite rock carving of a blue fin tuna, crafted in Fuzhou City in the Fujian Province of China, cemented the artist's ability to encapsulate life-force in a variety of mediums. "Mating Dance of Hummingbirds" maintains his legacy, with two glorious, chrome steel body and winged hummingbirds resting atop a twisted, spiral helix intertwined around a shared axis. The helical structure, like the shape of our DNA, is a symbol of eternity and life, and the foundation of sacred geometry, coded with evolution, infinite growth and longevity. Lucite rods stabilized within the wings also encase solar LED lighting offering enhanced reflective color features that add vitality to his design.

"I sequester myself when creating all the time. For me it provides a confrontation with the chosen medium and discipline I'm working with. But there is a marked difference between self-imposed isolation and an enforced quarantine. Seclusion usually provides me a safe haven, whereas the shut down during Covid created a vibration of eerie inaccessibility," explains Hoyes.

"The entire crafting experience, including me suffering through Covid, and personally packaging and delivery the work, served to intensify the intentions instilled in this art piece. A multi-dimensional metaphor evolved for me. 'Out Of Many, One People,' is Jamaica's national motto. 'The Mating Dance of Hummingbirds' speaks to the ever-evolving procreation of all species, reminding us that we all share common DNA and we are all connected in this together," shares Hoyes.

The history of mass media is one of political and social discrimination against forms of illicit content. When the first motion pictures came out, they were attacked and deemed too titillating for the masses. Since the first films appeared in the nineteenth century, pornographic content has moved slowly but surely from the edges to the center. While sex has always been culturally relevant, the creative revolution of the 1960s inspired a more open environment in which erotic material, called "porno chic" was embraced. Today sexual material has seeped into all aspects of mainstream mass media, energizing a variety of cultural genres and sparking the sex positivity movement. This shift of erotic content from the margins to the mainstream has been part of an overall liberalization of popular culture since the 1960s.

The exhibition will feature subversive art films by Carolee Schneemann, Natalia LL, Hannah Wilke, Ximena Cuevas, Mike Kuchar, and Shawné Michaelain Holloway. It will also discuss infamous cultural figures in advertising and music such as Jimi Hendrix, Edie Adams, Donna Summers, Prince, Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, Fabio, Salt-N-Pepa, Rihanna and Cardi B. Iconic scenes from films like "Midnight Cowboy" (1968), "Deepthroat" (1972), "Fatal Attraction" (1987) and "Moonlight" (2016) will scintillate visitors. Audiences will enjoy a nostalgic look back on the popular culture of the last six decades through the moving image and marvel at how our attitudes toward erotic content have changed.

His mark on now three of NJWeedman's businesses are important contributions to the culture of cannabis creativity. "It was important for me to have Sano leave his artistic impression on both my Trenton and Miami locations. I consider his imprint a blessing to my businesses. He has artistically documented my marijuana legacy in a way that words could not capture. If a picture is worth a thousand words, the spirit of his images is worth 10,000 words. I think my favorite is his mural outside of NJWeedman's Joint in Trenton. It's called "The Battle of Trenton 2" and is an accurate depiction of how I won my fight against the prosecutor's office in Trenton for unfair charges filed against me (see https://nj1015.com/nj-weedman-promises-to-give-prosecutor-legal-ass-whooping-after-major-bust.")

"It's no secret that marijuana and hip hop art are like first cousins," adds Sano, an avid partaker of the herb. "It has been an amazing journey to illustrate the story of NJWeedman with my art. I deeply appreciate his patronage over the years and am excited to have my work adorn both locations in Trenton and now in Miami, particularly in the Wynwood Art District which is famous for Art Basel and street art. Our work is sometimes overlooked and underrated in the contemporary art world but is an important component of our culture."

A cult figure in the marijuana legalization community, Forchion has since become one of the most vocal and controversial members of the pro-pot movement. He is the founder of the Legalize Marijuana Party of New Jersey and has run previous campaigns for Governor, U.S. Senate, Congress, the State Legislature, and the Burlington County Board of Freeholders. After decades of public persecution, Ed Forchion is finally being acknowledged for his decades of activism. He has spoken on virtual panels at Stockton and Princeton University, was featured on NBC News in New York and he is slated to appear on an upcoming segment of Vice TV and ABC-TV Nightline.

While NJWeedman's Joint in Trenton, NJ is a bustling marijuana themed eatery and smoke shop with his partner, Debi Madaio, The Joint of Miami is an extension of the NJWeedman brand, offering a more inclusive cannabis experience. The Joint of Miami, located in the Wynwood Art District, will be an art and music marijuana lounge with 'members only' access. Slated to open midsummer, The Joint of Miami will be a franchise operation and NJWeedman is already fielding inquires in other cities.

‘GROUNDED’ opens at the SLEEPCENTER Gallery

NEW YORK, N.Y. /ScoopCloud/ -- RE:ARTISTE International Art Organization and The Espejo Organization for the Arts are pleased to present "GROUNDED," an art exhibition juried by award-winning visual artist Mensur Bojda that will be hosted at the SLEEPCENTER Gallery from May 10th to May 20, 2021.

"The word 'grounded' means 'well-balanced' and 'sensible,' while it also means 'prohibited from doing certain things.' During the past year, we have been forced indoors by the pandemic and the quarantine measures. But what happened to artists' mental and emotional stability and confidence? Did they feel grounded and if so, in what way?" explain curators Natalie Burtluskaya and Kika Espejo about the concept behind the art show.

"We selected artworks that appeared recently in a process of self-reflection and introspection. The artists were encouraged to submit pieces that inspect the feelings on a threshold of imbalance and sensibility. Having taken history, literature, theater, politics, science, and arts as inspiration, the artists kept creating art, and it helped them stay afloat during the unprecedented year of the limited opportunities to work, travel, or feel safe," explains Mensur Bojda, the juror of the show.

The list of selected international artists includes Jeremie Queyras, Igor Kovalov, Hildos, Aida Miro, Maksym Kazarin, Amaia Marzabal, and Kuldeep Singh.

The opening event will take place on May 13, 2021, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and will follow all COVID-19 CDC guidelines. The exhibition will also be open by appointment between May 10 and May 20.
