Celebration of Resolution Paves Way for Cheyenne, Wyoming to Become the Climate Wellness Capital

CHEYENNE, Wyo. /ScoopCloud/ -- Mayor Patrick Collins, members of the Cheyenne City Council, Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce, Encore Green Environmental and Wyoming's Carbon Asset Network (CAN) have jointly announced a celebration of commitment to work on "Climate Wellness through Soil Health" Friday, April 22, 2022 at the Cheyenne Botanical Gardens, 3 p.m.

A resolution will highlight the agreement that Encore Green Environmental signed on December 28, 2021. The desire is that the Resolution will be impactful in stewardship of our environment by the very people who work the land.

Speeches by members of the Cheyenne community will be part of the program, including the proclamation by Mayor Patrick Collins, comments by Dale Steenbergen of the Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce, and John Robitaille of CAN. Letters of support sent to the city council include the Wyoming Stock Growers Association.

"Wyoming has been a leader in everything from the first female governor to water innovation with Buffalo Bill Cody. We, again, are leading the way with Cheyenne to become the Climate Wellness Capital," said Mayor Collins. "There's no better place than Cheyenne where sprawling land and experienced land managers now team with blockchain to render our environment cleaner and safer."

Moving forward the City will work with CAN to develop the program with any additional agreements, MOU's, or contracts developed between the City and CAN to be submitted for approval by the Governing Body.

CAN's program supplies land managers with grants and the tools to help increase their soil's health. Increasing soil health increases the ability of the soil to capture additional soil organic carbon. Increasing soil organic carbon leads to cleaner air, as the carbon is displaced from the air to the soil through increased plant growth and photosynthesis. The end result is that empowering better soil health leads to a better environment for our children and grandchildren.

"The Mayor and the Council's vision blends nicely with CAN's mission of Climate Wellness through Soil Health."

Carbon Asset Network (CAN) is a Wyoming company that networks together land stewards - from ranches to farms to golf courses - who commit to a 12-month customized plan with CAN's agronomist to change practices to become more regenerative. These land managers are provided grants from the nonprofit Synergy for Ecological Solutions to purchase new equipment or implement more expensive but sustainable practices designed to help improve the health of the soil and increase soil organic carbon.

CAN uses blockchain technology to verify the soil samples are sent to a certified laboratory, which reports the results directly to the blockchain, which creates a transparent process where all actions and partners are accountable. CAN is expanding these blockchain operations to create NFT Soil Tokens.

An additional announcement will be made regarding a successful partnership developed with a school district in Iraan, Texas, which allows students hands on education in soil stewardship, photosynthesis and produced water reclamation for grades 3-12.

Synergy for Ecological Solutions Makes Grant for Soil Health and Climate Wellness

LOS ANGELES, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- The nonprofit Synergy for Ecological Solutions made their first grant to Carbon Asset Network's landowner member, Hellyer Ranch. This grant will enable the ranch to execute a customized plan for greater soil health developed by both Hellyer and Carbon Asset Network's certified professional agronomist, Neal Fehringer.

The increase in soil health is a result in improving plant production, which causes an increase in photosynthesis. More photosynthesis removes additional carbon dioxide from the air and, in turn release more oxygen into the air and secures more carbon into the soil by increased root growth from more vegetative growth. This is the basis for 'carbon sinks' and 'carbon sequestration,' which is Nature's method of cleaning our air.

"Sometimes it's not understood that there's a natural connection between improving our soil and reducing carbon in our air," says John Robitaille, Director of Carbon Asset Network (CAN). "CAN works with the manager of the land to develop a customized science-based solution to increase soil health and meet their land goals. This is the new way forward."

The manager of the land, called Land Stewards, enlists in the You360 program, which provides funding to develop the soil for one year. The Land Stewards can be ranchers, farmers, or managers of any open land, such as parks or golf courses. This is not connected to any government program and the funding comes from donations to the nonprofit, Synergy for Ecological Solutions.

The nonprofit has developed a unique way to fundraise for climate wellness, using donated funds to clean our air, which empowers individuals and businesses to be advocates for the environment.

"There are many people who wake up each day, concerned about our climate. And, businesses are looking for ways to meet ESG goals. Yet, until now, the only solutions offered were to eat vegan, recycle, and perhaps protest fossil fuels. SYNERGY gives the opportunity to donate in order to improve soil health," says Jeff Holder, Director of Synergy for Ecological Solutions. "We encourage a change of mindset. Rather than wishing for a carbon neutral future in the next few years or decades, let's make a change right now, today. Finally, everyone can do something that has a direct impact on our climate."

In the You360 program, donors can donate towards one acre of land for $30 a month/$360 a year. It's a one-year commitment and the funds pay for agronomy/soil testing and development, with the lion's share going directly to the Land Steward.

The funds are often used for additional equipment such as a no-till drill or for fencing and labor to help with mob grazing, a practice that has proven to sequester more carbon.

"We celebrate this new way to help ranchers improve their soil," says Jim Magagna, Executive Vice-President of the Wyoming Stock Growers Association. "With funds from CAN, the rancher is able to adjust their operation with the result of healthier soil and healthier land."

"At Hellyer Ranch, we have taken some steps towards soil health, but with this grant, we can accomplish major goals," says Jim Hellyer. "You'll never find a better steward for our environment than someone who manages land."

New Webinars Advocate for Climate Wellness Through Soil Health

CHEYENNE, Wyo. /ScoopCloud/ -- Synergy for Ecological Solutions announces a series of free webinars that promote climate wellness and increased air quality through improved soil health. This new paradigm meets ESG and Sustainability goals.

"The key to climate health is soil health. The new program, a joint venture between nonprofit Synergy for Ecological Solutions, Carbon Asset Network and Encore Green Environmental, raises donated funds from individuals and businesses who want to create climate wellness for our environment, and then grants those funds to landowners for soil health project to meet their land goals.

"We all understand now that ESG is critical for a business's success - in the board room and with consumers," says Darlene Nash, CEO of Encore Green Environmental. "Until now there was not such a direct way to meet ESG goals."

"This program empowers the stewards of our lands to improve soil health. We have yet to meet a landowner who isn't committed to that," says John Robitaille of the Carbon Asset Network.

The Webinars are sponsored by the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce and will link with other Chambers nationwide.

"We're proud to host these webinars because our communities need to understand how they can improve our environment and help their businesses along the way," says Dale Steenbergen, President and CEO of the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce.

The webinars are hosted by Steenbergen and Lou Harmon, a leading expert in environmental engineering. Jim Magagna from the Wyoming Stock Grower's Association will also be on hand, along with other civic leaders.
