Just Like Magic, It’s Snowing in Hollywood at L. Ron Hubbard’s Winter Wonderland

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- It was 70-something degrees and clear skies on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. But there was a layer of real snow on the ground around Santa's cabin at L. Ron Hubbard's Winter Wonderland. This holiday village is a tradition that began in 1983, when author, humanitarian and Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard first provided a 60-foot Christmas tree as a gift to the people of Hollywood.

An annual tradition, L. Ron Hubbard's Winter Wonderland attracts thousands of residents and tourists each year. On the Sunday after Thanksgiving, marking the start of the holiday season, Santa glides down Hollywood Boulevard in his sled as the finale of the annual Hollywood Christmas Parade. As he rides by Winter Wonderland, he lights up the tree and village with a wave of his hand.

Made possible by the Friends of L. Ron Hubbard Foundation, throughout the holiday season, Winter Wonderland hosts live performances by community vocal and instrumental groups. Santa and his elves pose for photos and provide holiday gifts to the children.

Winter Wonderland has welcomed generations of children annually. Along with the giant fir tree and a forest of evergreens, the annual celebration includes a Santa's cottage on a vintage Hollywood Winter Wonderland set. A banner at the entrance includes Mr. Hubbard's immortal words: "On the day when we can fully trust each other, there will be peace on Earth."

Visitors to Winter Wonderland can expect holiday entertainment, face painting, and photos with Santa, who gives away toys and fiction storybooks.

Angelenos and those visiting from out of town are invited to come and enjoy the fun through December 25. Winter Wonderland is open Monday through Thursday 5 to 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 2 to 9 p.m. Admission is free.

Congressional Recognition for the 40th Anniversary of L. Ron Hubbard’s Winter Wonderland: Making the Holidays Special for Hollywood Families

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- On behalf of U.S. Congressman Luis Correa, his community liaison Ms. Gabriella Lemus presented the Church of Scientology with a certificate of special recognition from the United States House of Representatives in honor of the 40th anniversary of L. Ron Hubbard's Winter Wonderland.

"I join with Congress to celebrate the 40th anniversary of L. Ron Hubbard's Winter Wonderland," the recognition begins. "Thank you for sharing your tradition of spreading the spirit of Christmas and the promise of Peace on Earth."

Winter Wonderland has welcomed generations of children annually since 1983. It was then, in the spirit of Christmas, that author, humanitarian and Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard first donated a giant Christmas tree to the Hollywood community. And the tradition has continued ever since.

Giant Christmas Tree Arrives for the 40th Anniversary of a Hollywood Tradition Begun by L. Ron Hubbard

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- The Hollywood Christmas season got off to a great start November 20 with the arrival of a giant Christmas tree to mark the 40th Anniversary of L. Ron Hubbard's Winter Wonderland. Passersby on the Hollywood Walk of Fame watched in awe as the 6,000-pound giant grand fir was hoisted into place next to the Church of Scientology Los Angeles Information Center by a 40-ton crane at the end of its 900-mile journey from Sheridan, Oregon.

Since 1983, Winter Wonderland has been the holiday home of a massive Christmas tree and holiday setting first presented in 1983 as a gift by L. Ron Hubbard to the Hollywood community. The tradition has continued ever since, and features Santa's House and a performance stage surrounded by a forest of evergreens. This holiday tradition has provided joy to tens of thousands of children and their families each year.

The Winter Wonderland banner carries Mr. Hubbard's timeless and universal message: "On the day when we can fully trust each other, there will be peace on Earth."

Santa will officially ignite the lights on the giant Christmas tree Sunday, November 26, with a magical salute as he glides by Winter Wonderland in his sled -the final float of the 91st Hollywood Christmas Parade.

Friends and officials will join the Church of Scientology Western United States and the Friends of L. Ron Hubbard December 3 to cut the ribbon, launching L. Ron Hubbard's Winter Wonderland in celebration of its 40th anniversary.

L. Ron Hubbard's Winter Wonderland will provide children's concerts and other entertainment and family fun including photos with Santa and gift giveaways throughout December.
