It will include 24-hour access to the films and in-person, feature prime industry panels led by top entertainment professionals. Opening Ceremony that introduces the filmmakers with short trailers of their movies, is always a highlight of the event.

The BHERC YDFF is one of the longest-running youth film festivals to focus on diversity. YDFF filmmakers share short narratives, animation, and docu-short films from various topics related to what youth are experiencing today.

Director of the YDFF, Robert McCune states, "Storytelling is unique in that it is not bound by age. And that is what we see in the films offered by the Youth Diversity Film Festival, storytelling in its purist form because it is rooted in the belief of young people. These are the storytellers that will write the next generation of this world's history. And each film is a new page in that history."

YDFF goes beyond the definition of a festival by providing guidance and life-changing experiences that go beyond filmmaking throughout the year. With nearly 2,000 submissions from more than 8 different countries this year, the YDFF continues to grow.

Sandra Evers-Manly, President of the Black Hollywood Education and Resource Center stated, "We are excited with the continued growth of the festival and the students focus dealing with diverse issues."

A vital component of the festival is the panels featuring professionals in the entertainment industry. These panels provide real-time real-life career information, experience, and learning. Set to provide mentorship and inside, by some of the best professionals in the television and film industries. This year's festival will provide two different panels, with the topics to be announce in the coming week.

Founded in 1996 by Sandra Evers-Manly, BHERC is a nonprofit, public benefit organization designed to advocate, educate, research, develop, and preserve the history and future of Black images in film and television. Just Like Magic, It’s Snowing in Hollywood at L. Ron Hubbard’s Winter Wonderland

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- It was 70-something degrees and clear skies on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. But there was a layer of real snow on the ground around Santa's cabin at L. Ron Hubbard's Winter Wonderland. This holiday village is a tradition that began in 1983, when author, humanitarian and Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard first provided a 60-foot Christmas tree as a gift to the people of Hollywood.

An annual tradition, L. Ron Hubbard's Winter Wonderland attracts thousands of residents and tourists each year. On the Sunday after Thanksgiving, marking the start of the holiday season, Santa glides down Hollywood Boulevard in his sled as the finale of the annual Hollywood Christmas Parade. As he rides by Winter Wonderland, he lights up the tree and village with a wave of his hand.

Made possible by the Friends of L. Ron Hubbard Foundation, throughout the holiday season, Winter Wonderland hosts live performances by community vocal and instrumental groups. Santa and his elves pose for photos and provide holiday gifts to the children.

Winter Wonderland has welcomed generations of children annually. Along with the giant fir tree and a forest of evergreens, the annual celebration includes a Santa's cottage on a vintage Hollywood Winter Wonderland set. A banner at the entrance includes Mr. Hubbard's immortal words: "On the day when we can fully trust each other, there will be peace on Earth."

Visitors to Winter Wonderland can expect holiday entertainment, face painting, and photos with Santa, who gives away toys and fiction storybooks.

Angelenos and those visiting from out of town are invited to come and enjoy the fun through December 25. Winter Wonderland is open Monday through Thursday 5 to 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 2 to 9 p.m. Admission is free.

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- On behalf of U.S. Congressman Luis Correa, his community liaison Ms. Gabriella Lemus presented the Church of Scientology with a certificate of special recognition from the United States House of Representatives in honor of the 40th anniversary of L. Ron Hubbard's Winter Wonderland.

"I join with Congress to celebrate the 40th anniversary of L. Ron Hubbard's Winter Wonderland," the recognition begins. "Thank you for sharing your tradition of spreading the spirit of Christmas and the promise of Peace on Earth."

Winter Wonderland has welcomed generations of children annually since 1983. It was then, in the spirit of Christmas, that author, humanitarian and Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard first donated a giant Christmas tree to the Hollywood community. And the tradition has continued ever since.

And those visiting this weekend, despite clear skies and 70-degree temperatures, were also treated to snow.

Angelenos and those visiting from out of town are invited to come and enjoy the fun through December 25. Winter Wonderland is open Monday through Thursday 5 to 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 2 to 9 p.m. Admission is free.

FYC’s ‘The Next Big Hit’ – a martial arts musical comedy and micro-budget film, has been included in the big list of SAG and Oscars Awards

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- Mark your calendars for Dec. 15, 2023, as Laemmle in Town Center 5 Encino is proud to present a film that is set to be nothing less than awe-inspiring. "The Next Big Hit" is a masterpiece that promises to inspire you to think outside the box and embrace originality, says director Zak Lee Guarnaccia, and founder of production company LightRow Productions, LLC. It is a diverse cross-genre marvel that combines martial arts, music, and comedy into a unique and spectacular experience.

Zak Lee Guarnaccia's 40+ years of experience in the entertainment industry from Italy to the USA has culminated in this awe-inspiring creation.

"My brainchild film is driven by the unyielding pursuit of my creative vision, which is reflected in my unique martial arts musical comedy. I fearlessly take risks, push boundaries, and break new ground. I always aim for the stars, and eventually, I'll land on the moon!" said Zak Lee Guarnaccia.

Zak embarked on this mission to bring one of his creations to life after over 3 decades. After having an epiphany in Rome, Italy, in 1985, this actor, stuntman, and executive producer at LightRow Productions, LLC has been driven by the challenge of doing what has never been done before. He finds the same rush of excitement as an adrenaline junkie and is eager to share his passion with the world, believing that audiences are ready for something new and exciting.

"The Next Big Hit" is an action-packed comedy about a down-and-out stuntman and his flamboyant, high-strung movie-producer cousin on the run from a loan shark.

Their luck changes when they create the world's first martial arts musical, but making a masterpiece requires a hilarious buddy story. The film combines martial arts, mobster, action, musicals, and LGBTQ+ themes for a fresh take on cinema. Despite a microscopic budget, this action musical genre is just the beginning.

The film boasts an impressive talent cast, which includes:

* Zak Lee Guarnaccia (Red Notice, Barry, Judas and The Black Messiah, Live By Night, and The Morning Show).

* Cerina Vincent (Cabin Fever, A Disney TV series Stuck in the Middle, Not Another Teen Movie, Power Rangers Lost Galaxy).

* Perry Anzilotti (Gang-Related, Crossworlds, Bean).

* Marlyn Mason, a veteran talent who starred in one of Elvis Presley's final films and the critically acclaimed 70s series, working alongside James Franciscus and Bruce Lee.

* Pat Battistini directs a hilarious comedy based on Zak's vision with a dash of Italian attitude for spice.

This indie micro-budget film made it to the list for a possible nomination for the Oscars and SAG Awards. Although Zak doesn't have any expectations, it's great to know that the Academy Members and SAG Nomination Committee are watching the film. This concept that blends multiple genres is unique and has the potential to become a franchise.

L. Ron Hubbard’s Winter Wonderland Celebrates 40 Years of Making Christmas Special for Hollywood Families and Visitors in Town for the Holidays

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- Traffic came to a standstill on Hollywood Boulevard Sunday, December 3, as Santa Claus drove up on a red Harley-Davidson Electra Glide to cut the ribbon, opening L. Ron Hubbard's Winter Wonderland adjacent to the Church of Scientology Los Angeles Information Center. He was joined by his elves, Los Angeles Fire Department Deputy Chief Richard Fields, and nationally syndicated radio show host Kerri Kasem to the delight of hundreds of cheering children.

Just a week earlier, Kasem had her first opportunity to see this year's Winter Wonderland when she rode by on a float in the Hollywood Christmas Parade. The theme of the float was the precept "Love and Help Children" from The Way to Happiness, the nonreligious moral code written by Mr. Hubbard.

"Winter Wonderland is a beautiful annual tradition," said Kasem, "and it is wonderful to see so many children enjoying themselves for the holidays."

Once the ribbon was cut, the fun began, including live entertainment, face painting, and Santa, who held court with his elves in his cabin where he gave out Christmas gifts and posed for photos with the kids.

The tradition of L. Ron Hubbard's Winter Wonderland began in 1983 when author, humanitarian and Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard first presented a giant Christmas tree in a holiday setting as a gift to the children of Hollywood. The Friends of L. Ron Hubbard Foundation and the Church of Scientology continue the four-decade tradition, providing a safe and beautiful location for families throughout the holidays. "We hope to welcome everyone to enjoy this setting for many more generations to come," said Friends of L. Ron Hubbard spokesperson Louis Ricketts.

Winter Wonderland features a 6,000-pound grand fir in a forest of evergreens surrounding Santa's home and a banner carrying Mr. Hubbard's timeless message: "On the day when we can fully trust each other, there will be peace on Earth."

Jenna Elfman Hosts ‘Christmas Stories’ To Benefit Underserved Children

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- The Church of Scientology Celebrity Centre presented "Christmas Stories" December 1 and 2. Artists, including Golden Globe Award-winning actress Jenna Elfman ("Fear the Walking Dead") and Emmy Award-winners Nancy Cartwright ("The Simpsons") and Michelle Stafford ("The Young and the Restless"), performed holiday-themed skits and songs to raise funds to benefit the Hollywood Police Department's youth development programs for at-risk youth. Show proceeds also support the Hollywood Police Department's annual holiday toy give-away for underserved children.

The Christmas Stories stage is a 1930s-style radio show setting. Since 1993, the annual benefit has raised more than $500,000 for these community programs.

Hollywood police youth programs are operated by the police officers themselves and include educational, recreational and athletics activities as an alternative to gangs. This approach furnishes positive role models for Hollywood youth while providing them leadership and life skills.

Organized in cooperation with the Hollywood community, the Hollywood LAPD holiday toy give-away provides toys to local children who would otherwise have no Christmas gifts. Hundreds of toys are delivered in person each year by LAPD officers.

Stepping to the stage at the beginning of the "Christmas Stories" second act, LAPD Hollywood Division Captain Michael Rippe delivered a heartfelt message of appreciation to the Church and its parishioners. "Drive any boulevard here in Hollywood, you will see the investment that has poured in over the past two decades," he said. "What we have gained in Hollywood is not by accident. It is because of the strong partnerships we have, including the Church. It takes strong partners to raise a community, and that's what we've done. And we end up with a vibrant community where families, and kids and the people that we have reached out to, that the Church has reached out to and touched, know they are going to be supported. They know they will not be forgotten, and they know they will not go without. And that is again, because of your generosity and the partnerships we have created."

Celebrity Center Vice President Greg LaClaire echoed these sentiments. "We present 'Christmas Stories' each year to support our police officers in their efforts to create a safe environment for children in Hollywood," he said. "We believe in and participate in programs that support the safety and wellbeing of the children of our community.

"Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard wrote, 'When children become unimportant to a society, that society has forfeited its future.' And we work to make sure their future is bright by supporting Hollywood Police Department's youth development programs and other humanitarian initiatives."

25 Years of Service to the Community Honored at the Church of Scientology of the Valley

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- Serving the North Hollywood community since 1998, the Women's Auxiliary of the Church of Scientology of the Valley has established a reputation for always stepping up with help. They celebrated their 25th anniversary with a banquet and award presentation along with a silent auction to raise funds for their charity work.

The group raises funds for Scientology-supported humanitarian and social betterment programs and to assist underserved families in North Hollywood and the San Fernando Valley.

In an episode of I Am a Scientologist on the Scientology Network, Lisa Malm, president of the organization, describes the members' dedication to carrying out community projects. If they hear of a group needing winter jackets for foster children, for example, they immediately put out a call to their members and fulfill the need. Whether collecting canned goods for shelters, or making sure local children have a Christmas gift each year, whatever is needed, they take it on.

"Our mission is really to help people," she says.

The Women's Auxiliary was inspired by L. Ron Hubbard's belief that "a community that pulls together can make a better society for all."

The Church of Scientology of the Valley is an Ideal Scientology Organization, dedicated in March 2017 by Scientology ecclesiastical leader Mr. David Miscavige. The Church services Scientologists in their ascent to spiritual freedom and serves as a home for the entire community - a meeting ground of cooperative effort to uplift people of all denominations.

The Holidays Have Arrived in Hollywood With the Opening of Winter Wonderland

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- Actor Jason Dohring, best known for his role in "Veronica Mars," joined Santa and his elves for the opening of L. Ron Hubbard's Winter Wonderland on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Dohring cut the ribbon and was joined by human rights activist Alberto Godinez; media executive, director and journalist Rolando Nichols; Hollywood Chamber of Commerce board member and chair of the Board of Trustees for the Hollywood Sign Jeff Zarrinnam; and the assistant chief and battalion chief of the West Bureau Los Angeles Fire Department.

Winter Wonderland has welcomed generations of children annually since 1983. That was when L. Ron Hubbard first donated a giant Christmas tree to the Hollywood community. And that tradition has continued ever since.

"It is a beautiful setting for families to come and take their picture with Santa," said Zarrinnam. "It is perfect to have this right here on Hollywood Boulevard."

In keeping with its iconic location at 6724 Hollywood Blvd., Winter Wonderland is designed as a Hollywood set with a 60-foot Christmas tree, Santa's house, and a forest of evergreen trees.

Come for the entertainment, the complimentary cocoa and cookies, and gift bags for the children. And have pictures taken of the kids or the whole family with Santa and his elves.

Angelenos and those visiting from out of town are invited to come and enjoy the fun through December 25, Mon-Thursday 5-9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 2-9 p.m.

And for more Christmas cheer, watch the Holiday Concert on the Scientology Network on DIRECTV 320 and streaming at Scientology.tv, on mobile apps and via the Roku, Amazon Fire and Apple TV platforms.

Family Fun at the Holiday Lights Festival at the Church of Scientology

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- Hundreds of families headed to the Church of Scientology for an afternoon and evening of family fun. The annual Holiday Lights Festival included a special appearance of Santa and his elves. As is his custom in Hollywood, Santa arrived in a yellow mustang. This year he brought with him kids from Inner-City Shakespeare, who entertained the crowd by singing "All I Want for Christmas" and dancing to "Santa Claus is Coming to Town."

The young performers were each presented with a Teddy bear and then joined Santa on the red carpet, where they helped him flip the switch, illuminating two city blocks of magical holiday lights.

The deputy fire chief inaugurated the L.A. Alliance's annual toy drive. He stressed how rewarding it is to give back during the holidays and that the Church of Scientology embodies this now and throughout the year with its community functions. Drop off a new gift at the toy drive station at the Church of Scientology at 4810 Sunset Blvd. and help ensure a Merry Christmas for underserved children in the community.

In preparation for the annual Winter Street Fair on L. Ron Hubbard Way, the North Pole was installed, including the kid-sized ice-skating rink and snow slides. From 3 p.m. on, children skated and played in the snow, had their faces painted, and posed for selfies with Santa.

Mr. Jeff Zarinam, board member of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and chair of the Board of Trustees for the Hollywood Sign, which will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2023, presented the Church with a certificate of recognition:

"On behalf of the Hollywood Business District, we would like to extend our sincere appreciation to all Church of Scientology volunteers in Hollywood for your tenacity and tireless hard work in keeping Hollywood beautiful and contributing more than 4,500 volunteer hours to de-litter, pressure-wash, landscape, paint and beautify our Hollywood cityscape this past year."

"You are stellar examples of being great civic leaders for your dedication to Hollywood and East Hollywood communities and making our city a better place to live, work and play.

"Thank you all for brightening this holiday season with the 2nd Annual Holiday Lighting Festival and for being angels in the City of Angels."

Guests were also invited to visit Winter Wonderland with its 60-foot Christmas tree, Santa's house, and forest of evergreen trees. Winter Wonderland opened Saturday, December 3, at 4 p.m. on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6724 Hollywood Blvd. Humanitarian, author and Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard began this tradition in 1983 when he personally donated the first giant Christmas tree to Hollywood. Winter Wonderland has continued bringing joy to children and their families every year since.

Scientology Churches Organize Volunteers to Clean Up the Hollywood Christmas Parade Route

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- Scientology Churches in Los Angeles organize their annual parade route cleanup to make Hollywood shine for the thousands of visitors expected to line the streets of Hollywood for the 90th annual Christmas Parade. Anyone wishing to help make the parade special for paradegoers and those watching on TV is invited to join a team of energetic Angelenos Saturday, November 26, who will be making Hollywood beautiful while having a lot of fun.

Each year, Los Angeles Scientologists organize this pre-parade cleanup. But this year's promises to be unique. Not only will they be making Hollywood and Sunset Boulevards litter-free, they will also be upgrading the parade route by cleaning windows and painting out graffiti. And to help everyone join in the holiday spirit, a team of carolers has promised to come along.

Volunteers should arrive at 9 a.m. at the Association for Better Living and Education (ABLE) at 7065 Hollywood Blvd at 9 a.m., for complimentary coffee and donuts, and to collect their supplies. After the cleanup, they return at noon for pizza and sandwiches provided by local businesses that support the initiative.

The cleanup is cosponsored by The Way to Happiness Foundation, named for author, humanitarian and Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard's common-sense moral code. The Way to Happiness promotes universal values adopted by millions of people of all faiths around the world. Among the 21 precepts are two particularly appropriate for such a project: Set a Good Example, and Safeguard and Improve Your Environment, which points out:

"Care of the planet begins in one's own front yard. It extends through the area one travels to get to school or work. It covers such places as where one picnics or goes on vacation. The litter which messes up the terrain and water supply, the dead brush which invites fire, these are things one need not contribute to and which, in otherwise idle moments, one can do something about."

Not only does a cleanup raise the pride of those living and working in a neighborhood, it has also been found to be a deterrent to crime. According to a study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences from the University of Pennsylvania and other institutions, "neighborhoods where vacant lots were cleaned up experienced a 29 percent reduction in gun violence, 22 percent decrease in burglaries, and 30 percent drop in nuisances like noise complaints and illegal dumping.

"Residents living near those same spaces also reported feeling much safer post-remediation, with 58 percent having fewer security concerns when leaving their homes and more than three-quarters saying they significantly increased use of their outside spaces for relaxing and socializing."

Hollywood cleanup volunteers hand out copies of The Way to Happiness after the cleanup and place them in shops for their customers to promote simple, common-sense values anyone may use to make their neighborhood safer and more welcoming.

In addition to the annual Hollywood Christmas Parade activity, a partnership between the Church of Scientology, The Way to Happiness Foundation and the Los Angeles Police Department carries out monthly cleanups to keep Hollywood beautiful. The Los Angeles Churches of Scientology also helped organize the Faith and Blue neighborhood cleanup in October 2022, where more than 50 local businesses, nonprofits and faith-based organizations and some 460 volunteers cleaned 170 city blocks and beautified 200 storefronts under the banner "Unity in the Community."

Celebrate World Television Day With a Visit to the Scientology Network

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- Curious about Scientology? In honor of World Television Day November 21, with the UN noting the increasing impact of the medium on the lives of people everywhere, the Church of Scientology welcomes viewers to satisfy their curiosity about Scientology and learn the truth about the world's youngest major religion.

Every six seconds someone searches the question "What is Scientology?" And the Scientology Network answers this question by taking viewers behind the scenes to Scientology Churches on six continents, Church management, its publication and dissemination facilities, and humanitarian outreach centers and programs.

The network launched in March 2018 with a special introduction by Scientology ecclesiastical leader Mr. David Miscavige.

"You've probably heard of Scientology," said Mr. Miscavige from the atrium of the Church of Scientology spiritual headquarters in Florida. "There's a lot of talk about us. And we get it. People are curious. Well, we want to answer your questions, because, frankly, whatever you've heard, if you haven't heard it from us, I can assure you, we are not what you expect.

"So, while I could tell you Scientology is new, our approach is new, our answers are new, and that Scientology is not just something you believe in, it's something you do, well, I'm sure you would much rather see for yourself. And that's what the Scientology Network is all about. To show you inside Scientology, who we are, what Scientology is, and what Scientology can do."

The Network debuted, airing 24/7 in 17 languages on DIRECTV channel 320, with an array of original series, also available at Scientology.tv, and streaming through mobile apps and via the Roku, Amazon Fire and Apple TV platforms:

* Inside Scientology -- a behind-the-scenes look at the religion-its international spiritual headquarters and cutting-edge publishing houses, what happens on a typical day at a Church of Scientology, and the meticulous, painstaking efforts to preserve 75 million words of Founder L. Ron Hubbard's religious writings and recordings for future generations

* Meet a Scientologist -- an in-depth look into the lives of individual Scientologists from the frontiers of modern art, science, sports, entertainment and many other professions and interests

* I am a Scientologist -- featuring hundreds of Scientologists from every corner of the world and every imaginable occupation, giving personal accounts of how their lives have been enriched by the religion

* Voices for Humanity -- brief documentaries introducing change-makers of all faiths, cultures and nations as they extend help to their communities through Scientology-sponsored humanitarian programs

* Destination: Scientology -- bringing viewers inside Scientology Churches, showcasing the diversity of the Churches and the cooperation that weaves every Church of Scientology into the local community fabric

* L. Ron Hubbard: In His Own Voice -- a unique series chronicling L. Ron Hubbard through autobiographical vignettes in his own words and in his own voice. Scientology is the only major religion with the voice of its Founder intact, recorded in public lectures delivered over the course of a quarter-century.

* L. Ron Hubbard Library Presents -- with films exploring the beliefs and practices of the Scientology religion through the groundbreaking writings of its Founder.

* Citizens Commission on Human Rights -- an ongoing investigative series featuring the global advocacy organization taking on powerful, well-funded psychiatric interest groups to educate the public on abuses of psychiatry. These documentaries expose the truth about the marketing of psychotropic prescriptions, the dangers of those drugs and the industry's terrifying history

The second season saw the addition of:

* Documentary Showcase -- because fundamental to Scientology is its humanitarian mission that extends to some 200 nations with programs for human rights, human decency, literacy, morality, drug prevention and disaster relief. For this reason, the Scientology Network provides a platform for independent filmmakers who embrace a vision of building a better world.

The network also airs films on the beliefs and practices of the religion, answering questions about its philosophy and technology. These include:

Scientology Church Honors and Celebrates the Indigenous Michoacán Culture

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- East Hollywood's L. Ron Hubbard Way was transformed into a street festival in honor of the Day of the Dead and the traditions and culture of the indigenous people of the Mexican State of Michoacán. More than a thousand guests filled the street for the celebration, a Michoacán tradition that honors the ancestors and all who have passed away. It was also an affirmation of the culture of the Purépecha, an indigenous people of Michoacán, hosted by the Monarca Purépecha Association and the Church of Scientology Los Angeles.

Artisans displayed handicrafts, from jewelry to traditional clothing, in a street fair along both sides of the street. They set up next to food stalls where tantalizing aromas invited visitors to sample some of the region's favorite foods.

There was churipo, a spicey stew prepared with chunks of beef, vegetables and chilis. And pozole, a dish made from hominy and meat, often seasoned and garnished with shredded lettuce or cabbage, chili peppers, onion, garlic, radishes, avocado, salsa or limes. There were also tamales and tacos dorados, with ingredients tightly rolled up in tortillas and fried in oil. And to top it off, a steaming cup of chocolate atole, made with Mexican chocolate, water, and milk, spiced with cinnamon sticks and anise, sweetened with piloncillo, a raw form of pure cane sugar, and thickened with corn flour.

Along the street were ofrendas, flowered altars built on the Day of the Dead to honor those who have passed. They are usually made of marigolds, which blossom at this time of the year in Michoacán, and contain photos and other memorabilia to welcome those who have died and celebrate their lives.

Octavio Chavez Aguirre, Mayor of Lagunillas in the state of Michoacán, commissioned a custom artisanal brass plate and had it presented to the Church of Scientology in recognition of Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard and his support of the customs, traditions and rights of people of all cultures.

While this celebration was taking place on L. Ron Hubbard Way, the Guatemalan community was also marking the Day of the Dead in a commemoration reflecting their own unique culture in an event space set up in front of the Church of Scientology Los Angeles.

Day of the Dead Festival at the Church of Scientology Honors Ancestors

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- Members of the Los Angeles Guatemala community gathered at the Church of Scientology Los Angeles this weekend for a ceremony and Fiambre -- a 500-year-old Guatemalan custom in which families join in creating a huge platter of food that is then shared by all. It is held each year as part of the observance of the Day of the Dead to remember and celebrate the lives of loved ones who have passed away.

This year's Fiambre weighed 900 pounds and is thought to be the largest ever created outside the borders of Guatemala. It included 80 Ingredients from a variety of meats and seafood to vegetables, fruits, nuts, legumes, spices, juice, and an oil and vinegar dressing. It was followed by a traditional Guatemalan dessert made of ayote, a winter squash native to Guatemala, flavored with cinnamon and a cane sugar product called panela.

Los Angeles County is home to more than 200,000 Guatemalans making it the largest Guatemalan community in the U.S. -- a community that has grown more than 25 percent over the past decade.

Guatemalan-American community leaders believe in the importance of promoting the traditions, values and culture of the land of their ancestors some 2,700 miles away.

With entire generations growing up having little contact with their roots, a traditional Guatemalan Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration is one way to preserve these customs and keep the culture alive. Organizers believe that sharing the community's cultural heritage is vital to preserve the children's sense of identity and instill unity and national pride.

While families created the magnificent Fiambre, mural artist Oscar de Salcaja created a chalk painting in the Church of Scientology parking lot celebrating the culture of Guatemala.

"Thank you to the Church of Scientology for providing a place to keep our country's traditions alive," said Walter Batres, leader of the Guatemalan Migrants Network. "We want to preserve our heritage here in the United States and pass it down to our children. This is the second year we have been able to hold our Fiambre here at your Church and we are grateful for this."

The Church of Scientology has partnered with the Guatemalan community since the 1990s to provide tools to improve the quality of life and the future of Guatemalans in their homeland and Los Angeles.

Working together on food drives, the Church of Scientology Los Angeles and the Guatemalan Chamber of Commerce helped thousands of local families overcome food insecurity during the pandemic.

Those attending the Fiambre were invited to return for the Church's annual Community Holiday Lighting Ceremony Saturday, November 19, to help "flip the switch" on two city blocks of holiday lights and stay for the hot cocoa, live music, and winter-themed family fun.

Halloween Magic and Fun for Local Families at the Church of Scientology

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- A safe and exciting Halloween party for kids of all ages launched the holiday season at the Church of Scientology Los Angeles. Neighbors and friends joined staff and volunteers from the Church of Scientology to make Halloween 2022 a safe and memorable holiday for neighborhood children. More than 2,000 took part in the annual Halloween street fair in East Hollywood October 31 on L. Ron Hubbard Way.

There was plenty of popcorn and cotton candy. Ghouls, witches and skeletons joined Winnie-the-Pooh and a life-sized Minion to hand out 120,000 pieces of trick-or-treat candy and pose for Halloween photos. And face-painting and the reptile petting zoo vied with the pumpkin-carving booths for the most popular activity.

"So many people contributed to making this a special day for local children," said Susanna Kaneer, Church of Scientology Community Affairs Director for the greater Los Angeles area. "Neighbors and friends, local Scientologists, and Church staff who manned the trick-or-treat stations and photo booths and contributed candy and other treats had as much fun as the children and their parents. We love to see families attend our community events and then bring friends and neighbors with them to the next one to join the fun. That's what these events are all about. We are here for the community."

Families were also invited to come for the annual Community Holiday Lighting Ceremony Saturday, November 19, to help "flip the switch" on two city blocks of holiday lights and stay for the hot cocoa, live music, and winter-themed family fun.

Religious Freedom in the Spotlight at a Peace Day Forum at the Church of Scientology

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- Religious leaders discuss the importance of tolerance in today's world at a forum at the Church of Scientology Los Angeles. Freedom of religion or belief is often described as the "canary in the coal mine" -- a metaphor for a social issue that predicts danger or disaster. With a recent Pew Research Center study finding government restrictions on religion reaching a record high worldwide, the Church of Scientology Los Angeles marked International Day of Peace with an open house and forum on the importance of tolerance for people of faith.

The program featured religious leaders of several minority faiths whose members have experienced discrimination and worse because of their beliefs.

Speakers were Mr. Shahrooz Ash, trustee of the California Zoroastrian Center and founder of Lord of Wisdom, a cultural and educational organization that promotes Zoroastrian philosophy; Shaykh Qazi Asad, Pakistani-born spiritual leader and the first Islamic chaplain in the L.A. Police Department and L.A. County Sheriff's Department; and Professor Nirinjan Khalsa, executive director of the California Sikh Council, who has served as a commissioner on the City of Los Angeles Human Relations Commission for more than 18 years.

Each speaker described their own religious beliefs and the importance of religious freedom and tolerance to the adherents of their faiths.

According to the Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism, hate crimes in major U.S. cities rose in the first half of 2022 for the third year running.

Results of a poll conducted by the Pearson Institute and The Associated Press National Opinion Research Center for Public Affairs Research, released in October 2022, found that most Americans believe misinformation leads to extreme views including violence based on race, religion or gender.

The Church of Scientology supports United for Human Rights (UHR), a human rights education initiative based on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Over the past 20 years, the Church has seen countless instances of increased tolerance and decreased social conflict with the implementation of human rights education. Scientologist Kelley Pomerantz, a United for Human Rights volunteer, introduced those attending the forum to the UHR educational materials.

Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard believed in the importance of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and that "human rights must be made a fact, not an idealistic dream."

In appreciation for the work of the Church of Scientology in forwarding these ideals, Mr. Ash presented the Church with a gold pin representing the Cyrus Cylinder.

A human rights documentary that is part of the United for Human Rights educational program describes the significance of the Cyrus Cylinder. After Cyrus the Great conquered Babylon in 539 B.C., he freed all slaves and proclaimed that people are free to choose their religion, a revolutionary action. These rights were enshrined in the clay cylinder that was discovered in Babylon in 1879 and now bears his name.

From its beginnings, the Church of Scientology has recognized that freedom of religion is a fundamental human right. In a world where conflicts are often traceable to intolerance of others' religious beliefs and practices, the Church has, for more than 50 years, made the preservation of religious liberty an overriding concern.

The Church of Scientology Los Angeles is designed to provide ideal facilities for Scientologists on their ascent to higher states of spiritual freedom and to serve as a home for the entire community--a meeting ground of cooperative effort to uplift people of all denominations. It was dedicated by Scientology ecclesiastical leader Mr. David Miscavige in 2010. To learn more about the Church's many contributions to Los Angeles, visit the new interactive timeline on the Scientology website.

Church of Scientology Celebrates Latin Culture and Women’s Empowerment

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- The vibrant strains of Latin Music filled East Hollywood when the Church of Scientology Los Angeles hosted the Miss Hispanidad Festival. It was held during National Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15-October 15), set aside to honor the history, culture and contribution of those whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America. Miss Hispanidad Festival promotes women's empowerment and celebrates the Latin culture of the Americas.

The annual event, produced by Miss XV magazine, included traditional music, dance, and costumes celebrating unique cultures of the Americas.

South America was represented by the culture of Peru, Central America by Costa Rica, North America by Mexico, and the Caribbean by the Dominican Republic.

With their commitment to promoting and defending the human rights of all Angelenos, L.A. Scientologists believe in the importance of preserving and honoring the languages, traditions and heritage of the many cultures that call Los Angeles home. There are nearly 5 million Hispanics and Latinx men, women and children in Los Angeles County. They each have the right, as stated in Article 27 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, to freely "participate in the cultural life of the community, to enjoy the arts and to share in scientific advancement and its benefits."

The Church of Scientology Los Angeles partners with Hispanic and Latinx organizations to provide resources to celebrate and keep these unique and diverse cultures alive. According to UNESCO, there are over 7,000 languages spoken globally, of which nearly 6,700 are indigenous languages. Some 40 percent of these are at risk of disappearing, and, with the loss of these languages, a unique piece of humankind's history will also be lost.

The Church of Scientology Los Angeles is designed to provide ideal facilities for Scientologists on their ascent to higher states of spiritual freedom and to serve as a home for the entire community -- a meeting ground of cooperative effort to uplift people of all denominations. It was dedicated by Scientology ecclesiastical leader Mr. David Miscavige in 2010.

The Church of Scientology Los Angeles is featured in an episode of Inside Scientology on the Scientology Network, available on DIRECTV channel 320 and streaming at Scientology.tv, through mobile apps and via the Roku, Amazon Fire and Apple TV platforms.

For more information, visit the website of the Church of Scientology Los Angeles or the new interactive timeline on Scientology.org.

The Scientology religion was founded by author and philosopher L. Ron Hubbard. The first Church of Scientology was formed in Los Angeles in 1954 and the religion has expanded to more than 11,000 Churches, Missions and affiliated groups, with millions of members in 167 countries.

Community Comes Together in Support of the LAPD and a Cleaner and Safer Hollywood

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- With violent crime on the rise in Los Angeles, more than 50 local businesses, nonprofits and faith-based organizations joined the LAPD in a community coalition on Faith & Blue Weekend to reclaim the streets of Hollywood with a neighborhood cleanup launched by the Hollywood Community Police Station and co-organized by the Church of Scientology.

October 8 was no ordinary Saturday morning in Hollywood. As crowds gathered in the Capitol Records Building parking lot, tourists and locals soon realized something special was happening. Was it the presentation of a new star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame? Or an unexpected movie premiere? No. This was the launch of a coalition of more than 50 organizations that decided to take back the streets of Hollywood.

More than 460 volunteers gathered for a community cleanup -- the largest ever done in the area. Two local businesses donated the space and parking for the event that was organized by the LAPD and the Church of Scientology on National Faith & Blue Weekend under the banner "Unity in the Community."

The purpose of Faith & Blue Weekend is to create safer and stronger communities by engaging law enforcement officers and local residents through the connections of faith-based organizations.

Hollywood LAPD Captain Yasir Gillani welcomed the volunteers, thanking them and the many LAPD officers for their support of the project. He gave a special shout-out to the Church of Scientology for bringing the community together to support the program.

Faith & Blue founder Rev. Markel Hutchins, in Los Angeles from Atlanta, Georgia, to launch the Los Angeles Faith & Blue Weekend celebrations, spoke of a turnout like this being proof that when faiths, communities and law enforcement work together, we can bridge differences, increase collaboration and reduce bias and violence.

Those coming on board for a cleaner, safer and more beautiful Hollywood included the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, the Hollywood Partnership, the L.A. Office of Community Beautification, the L.A. Department of Sanitation, and numerous local businesses and faith-based organizations.

The volunteers divided into seven teams, each headed by an LAPD Hollywood Division officer. The City of Los Angeles Department of Sanitation and Home Depot equipped them with bags, shovels, brooms and trash pickers.

Teams cleaned 170 city blocks totaling 17 miles of Hollywood streets, and they beautified 200 storefronts by cleaning, painting and removing graffiti.

The trash was carried away by one of the L.A. Department of Sanitation's new zero-emission all-electric garbage trucks.

As the teams returned to the Vine Street staging area at noon, they were serenaded by a mariachi band while they enjoyed a complimentary lunch provided by local businesses including Pinks Hot Dogs, In-N-Out Burger, Tommy's Hamburgers, Domino's Pizza, Sharky's and Fresh Brother's Pizza.

The Church of Scientology, LAPD and The Way to Happiness Foundation have partnered in monthly neighborhood cleanups since 2018, including a special annual scouring of Hollywood Boulevard on the eve of each year's Hollywood Christmas Parade.

After each cleanup, volunteers hand out copies of The Way to Happiness, written by humanitarian and Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard. The Way to Happiness is a common-sense nonreligious moral code with 21 precepts to guide people to make better choices in their lives. With precepts such as "Set a Good Example," "Safeguard and Improve Your Environment," "Be Worthy of Trust" "Fulfill Your Obligations" and "Be Industrious," The Way to Happiness encourages people to point the way to a moral, less dangerous and happier life.

National Faith & Blue Weekend was created to facilitate safer, stronger, more just and unified communities by directly enabling local partnerships among law enforcement professionals, residents, businesses and community groups through local faith-based organizations. These connections are built through activities held in neighborhoods of every kind across the United States, jointly hosted by houses of worship and local law enforcement entities.

Opening Thurs., Sept. 15: ‘Veils’ The Musical Takes Center Stage Reminding Us of The Price Paid for The Freedoms Won and The Women Behind It All

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- The Black Hollywood Education and Resource Center (BHERC) has teamed with Restoration Stage (Washington, D.C.) to bring the popular musical "Veils" to the Los Angeles area for a short run Thursday, September 15, and Friday, September 16 at 8 p.m.; Saturday, September 17 at 2 and 8 p.m. and Sunday, September 18 at 8 p.m. at the Nate Holden Performing Art Center in Los Angeles, California. Purchase tickets at https://bherc.org/.

So much has been written about the men lost in the Civil Rights and Black Lives Matter movements. Unexplored, however, are the stories of the women whose lives are affected by these tragedies - the women who wear the "Veils." This musical is described as an emotional historical pageant of grief and resilience that pays tribute to women veiled in mourning, with a focus on Black lives lost in bloodshed during the sixties Civil Rights Movement to gain many of the freedoms we enjoy today.

BHERC believes that "Veils" on its own sends a powerful message of courage and sacrifice. However, as we find ourselves at the precipice of a democracy that is being contested, and the right to vote is being undermined as well as other freedoms, BHERC believes that "Veils" is truly a great example of the price that has already been paid for the gains being threatened. It represents the strong Women, like those who today are standing up and marching for justice.

"We are proud to bring this inspirational and compelling work to Los Angeles for a second time," States Sandra J. Evers-Manly. "The pandemic disrupted the performance in March 2020, but not this time. Everyone must come out to witness this incredible musical. It will inform, energize, and inspire you, with hope for our future as a people."

"Veils," the musical, is written by Steven A. Butler, Jr. with music and lyrics by Courtney Baker-Oliver and Christopher John Burnett and is directed by Courtney Baker-Oliver. Joining the West Coast production is soul singer, dramatist, educator, and activist Ayanna Gregory. The daughter of iconic comedian and civil rights activist Dick Gregory, Ayanna continues her father's work with deep awareness and concern for Human Rights expressed through her gift of music. More than entertainment; they are her mission. "She touches the place that is the deepest and clearest in my heart", Stevie Wonder. Filling out the cast are Bernie Alston, Steven A. Butler, Jr.*, Desire' Dubose*, Kandace Foreman, Bridget Garwood, Andrea Gerald, Robert Hamilton, Brandyn Marshall, Corisa Myers, Suli Myrie, Ayana Ogunsunlade*, Grace Pugh, Nakiea Washington Dade (*member of Actor's Equity Association). Stage Management by Ronald Lee Newman*, Musical Direction by Justin Thompson, Choreography by Kyra DaCosta *, Sound/Video Design by David Lamont Wilson*, Lighting Design by Stage Jerry Dale, Jr. Set and Properties by Courtney Baker-Oliver and Robert Hamilton, Costumes by Courtney Baker-Oliver & Luqman Salim, Technical Direction by Robert Hamilton; Executive Producer, Sandra Evers-Manly and Producers: Courtney Baker-Oliver and Steven A. Butler, Jr.

ACCOLADES INCLUDE:

"The singer-actors have created an exquisitely beautiful experience of enduring sorrow, honor, and healing." - John Stoltenberg

"The surprise is that with Veils two such multitalented African American young men have undertaken this profoundly womanist theme with such deep empathy and authentic respect. This, to my knowledge, is a first in theatre history." - DCMetroTheatreArts.com

"Tackles roles ranging from Sybrina Fulton and Mamie Till to Jacqueline Kennedy and Viola Liuzzo." - The Washington Informer

"I'm thrilled that my mother's story is one being told in this production which brings history to life and light." - Mary Liuzzo, daughter of civil rights martyr Viola Liuzzo

Church of Scientology Helps Nonprofit Strike Out Against Drugs

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- In the heart of Hollywood, the Church of Scientology Los Angeles joined forces with local nonprofit Strike Out Against Drugs in a musical tribute to drug-free living.

Visitors to the Hollywood Walk of Fame on International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking were treated to a different kind of rock concert this year. On a stage just outside the Scientology Public Information Center on Hollywood Boulevard, the nonprofit Strike Out Against Drugs organized the concert. And the message of those performing was: Learn the truth about drugs. Because knowing about something that can hurt you is half the battle of being able to defeat it.

Strike Out Against Drugs founder David Sanchez knows what he's talking about when he speaks about the importance of drug education. Introduced to marijuana by a neighbor at the age of 9, he soon progressed to heroin and crystal meth, and from there to a life of crime. By the time he was 18 he was serving time in jail and ended up doing so for a total of 22 years.

When he finally got himself off drugs in 2012, he opened a sober living facility called Beacon of Hope to help former addicts transition to a drug-free, crime-free life.

He and most of the men in his facility started on drugs when they were kids, which is why he is so passionate about reaching kids before they become statistics.

"I had to find an organization that was like-minded, that had the will and the want to get out there and make a change in the community," Sanchez says in an episode of "Voices for Humanity" on the Scientology Network. "Drug-Free World has the facts about drugs, the truth about drugs."

Learning that the Church of Scientology Los Angeles is active with the program locally, he visited the Church and they provided him with all the materials and assistance he needed to get his drug prevention program off the ground.

Sanchez delivers drug education in local schools. And he brings former addicts with him to talk to kids about what drugs are and what they do. "We are real people telling our real stories," he says. And he finds the Foundation for a Drug-Free World's youth-friendly materials get through to kids that the smartest thing they can do is to make the firm decision not to experiment with drugs.

To make his initiative available to anyone, anywhere in and around Los Angeles, Sanchez bought and refurbished a minibus, turning it into a mobile drug prevention theater where he shows the Foundation for a Drug-Free World public service announcements and "Truth About Drugs: Real People, Real Stories" documentary. He parks the bus at events, festivals-anywhere people gather.

To date, David Sanchez has reached over 1.5 million people with its anti-drug message and has changed the lives of countless kids.

"If I can keep one person, one kid, from having that type of lifestyle," says Sanchez, "then I've done my job, and I'm very proud to be able to do that."

According to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, "Prevention strategies based on scientific evidence working with families, schools, and communities can ensure that children and youth, especially the most marginalized and poor, grow and stay healthy and safe into adulthood and old age. For every dollar spent on prevention, at least ten can be saved in future health, social and crime costs."

Noting the role substance abuse plays in the disintegration of the social fabric, Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard wrote, "Research has demonstrated that the single most destructive element present in our current culture is drugs."

Foundation for a Drug-Free World was formed in 2006 to serve as the primary distributor of educational materials and to develop new materials to meet the challenge of continually changing drug trends. The Foundation has grown to a network of some 200 chapters around the world. Thanks to the support of the Church of Scientology and Scientologists, it provides the Truth About Drugs secular program and materials free of charge to drug educators worldwide.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- With its reputation as a hub for the entire community, the Church of Scientology of the Valley looks forward to helping neighbors turn the post-COVID new normal into "flourish and prosper." Following the dedication of its new home in San Fernando Valley March 19, 2017, the Church of Scientology of the Valley rapidly became a vibrant hub of community activities.

Then came the pandemic, and the hardships it created for local businesses, groups and families.

But with the recent relaxing of restrictions, the Church is celebrating this year's anniversary by helping community partners and individuals turn the page on the past two years. Its doors are open to all. And it offers humanitarian initiatives and life improvement courses to provide tools to tackle these challenges and thrive.

This incredible mix of ethnicities, backgrounds and artistic expertise has given rise to a culture all its own. And building strong ties among the community, giving them tools to create a better world, is the challenge this Church embraces on a daily basis.

Whether opening its 1,000-seat auditorium for use by local nonprofits, forging a partnership with local police officers to combat crime and drug use or racing to the front lines of a wildfire to support first responders, as this episode showcases, the Valley Church is the ultimate good neighbor.

Hear from local Scientologists, including those who work behind the scenes in the film and television industry, as they extol life in the Valley and the positive impact the Church has had on them and their community.

The Scientology Network debuted in 2018. Since launching with a special episode featuring Scientology ecclesiastical leader Mr. David Miscavige, Scientology Network has been viewed in 240 countries and territories worldwide in 17 languages.

Satisfying the curiosity of people about Scientology, the network takes viewers across six continents, spotlighting the everyday lives of Scientologists, showing the Church as a global organization, and presenting its social betterment programs that have touched the lives of millions worldwide. The network also showcases documentaries by independent filmmakers who represent a cross-section of cultures and faiths, but share a common purpose of uplifting communities.

Broadcast from Scientology Media Productions, the Church's global media center in Los Angeles, the Scientology Network can be streamed at Scientology.tv and is available through satellite television, mobile apps and via the Roku, Amazon Fire and Apple TV platforms.

Opposition to Los Angeles’ Burbank Blvd Street Widening Project – Burbank Widening Citizens Group

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- The Burbank Widening Citizens Group. ("BWC Group") announced today that it is organizing in opposition to the Burbank Blvd. Street Widening Project. The Group consists of businesses and residences situated along the affected Burbank Blvd., between Lankershim Blvd. and Cleon St. The BWC Group states, "On the heels of Covid, eighteen businesses are required to spend tens of thousands of dollars on property abatements.

"This highway project takes our property, parking, fencing, gates, and improvements and subjects the neighborhood to two years of noise, traffic disruption, and lost business, all for a highway nobody wants or needs. The call for public comment on this project occurred in 2009, as was the Project Impact filing. With the passing of twelve years since the Project CEQ Impact filing and public comment, it is mandatory that a Project Impact Re-evaluation and a re-opening of a period of public comment. The neighborhood description in the 2009 Impact statement looks nothing like the 2021 neighborhood."

The BWC Group also notes that "the Planning Department has targeted many businesses as scofflaws who have "built in the city right-of-way" despite City permits on the improvements. There has been a lack of transparency and a failure of communication between the neighborhood and Planning Commission." The BWC Group continues, "the bottom line is nobody wants this highway, and the neighborhood feels it's unnecessary. The neighborhood wants a road that fits the neighborhood, not the other way around."

The BWC Group has a petition in opposition on http://change.org/burbankblvd and the Burbank Widening Citizens Group website at https://burbankwidening.com/.

New Book Showcases the Career of Actress, Pinup and Artist’s Model Eva Lynd: A Lost World of Glamour and Men’s Pulp Adventure

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- The latest installment in the acclaimed Men's Adventure Library series from editors Robert Deis and Wyatt Doyle, "Eva: Men's Adventure Supermodel" (ISBN 978-1943444397) has been released. The book chronicles model, pin-up, and actress Eva Lynd's remarkable career.

Showcased are hundreds of glamour photos, paperback and magazine covers and interior illustrations Eva modeled for in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. It tells the colorful story of Eva's life and career in her own words. It also includes many previously unpublished photos from Lynd's personal archive.

"Eva: Men's Adventure Supermodel" is available in a big, deluxe 186-page hardcover and an abridged 114-page softcover with alternate cover art that focuses primarily on Lynd's work in men's adventure magazines (MAMs).

Learn more at: https://newtextureblog.blogspot.com/

A 40-page preview of the book is available on Issuu.com at http://bit.ly/2Oss1kM.

In the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, Eva Lynd's image was seen by millions of American men and women in TV shows, plays and movies, on the covers of men's magazines and women's romance and confession magazines, in paperback cover paintings, and in the wild cover and interior illustrations used by men's adventure magazines (MAMs).

Born Eva Inga Margareta von Fielitz, Eva is a bona fide Swedish Countess. She's the daughter of Count Asti von Fielitz and Countess Margareta von Fielitz. Eva's mother brought her from Sweden to New York City in 1950, at age 12.

By age 16, she was winning beauty queen contests. Soon, under the stage name Eva Lynd, she was appearing in popular TV shows produced in New York, such as the Steve Allen Show, Garry Moore Show, Perry Como Show and Jonathan Winters Show.

After moving to Hollywood in 1959, she appeared in various TV shows, including the "Thin Man," "Peter Gunn," "The Texan," "Hogan's Heroes," "Desilu Playhouse," "Bourbon Street Beat," and "Cagney & Lacey." She also had roles in several movies, including the 1960 cult horror movie "The Hypnotic Eye" and the 1975 caper film, "That Lady From Peking," in which she co-starred with Carl Betz, Nancy Kwan and Bobby Rydell.

One of Eva's most-seen roles was as the sexy woman who emerges from the tube in Brylcreem's 1964 "Girl the Tube" TV commercial (https://youtu.be/gC4y5ubsWSI), which Entertainment Magazine named of the "50 Best Commercials of All Time."

In the '50s and '60s, Eva was a popular model for pinup magazine photos taken by many top glamour photographers. She was also a go-to model for several top illustration artists who did cover paintings for paperbacks and cover and interior artwork for men's adventure magazines.

In some MAM cover paintings and interior illustrations, Eva is a damsel-in-distress being tormented by Nazis, Commies or motorcycle gang members. In others, she is an alluring femme fatale or a gun-toting heroine.

Eva is now 82 and living in Hollywood with her husband of over 40 years, veteran actor Warren Munson. Eva and Warren both still act occasionally and sometimes work together, as they did in a recent Campbell's Soup commercial in which they played grandparents.

Newest Mortgage Company on the Sunset Strip, Vantage Home Loans, launches and targets the Luxury Los Angeles Home Market

WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- In today's hyper competitive mortgage market with increasing competition from internet companies, Roger Mansourian has formed a new partnership and mortgage company - Vantage Home Loans - that specifically targets and caters to the creative financing needs of investors, small business owners, and luxury homeowners seeking a strong mortgage offering in California and Washington.

Starting with the firm's first transaction, a $3.8 million sale in the Outpost Estates in the Hollywood Hills, Vantage Home Loans launched its advanced mortgage services this year. To expand into this heavily competitive market, owner Roger Mansourian reached out and formed a partnership with Robert Rodriguez, the former California Division Director of SWBC Mortgage in Orange County, convincing him to become the Managing Director of Sales of Vantage Home Loans, located on the Sunset Strip, in West Hollywood.

Together, the two partners have assembled a dream team of driven, seasoned agents, that are familiar with the unique twists and turns that are involved in the California and Washington Luxury home market. This new firm also will be making heavy use of technology, by developing a custom mobile application, and mobile site, that provides real-time status updates during the processing of their loan application, underwriting, and document preparation.

Clients will be able to directly E-sign disclosures, upload documents by snapping pictures of the pages with their smartphone, and chat 24/7 with direct Vantage representatives about the process, status, or any questions they may have. Vantage is also creating a direct Realtor portal, for the partner realtors to also be completely apprised of the loan process and procedures, at any time.

Vantage Home Loans, as a company, is focusing on expanding consumer awareness, and has been developing an online streaming video library via YouTube, discussing different parts of the buying and loan approval process, new loan programs unique to certain situations, and weekly updates with the latest in real estate and mortgage news, as it pertains to California and Washington buyers and sellers. Vetted and well recommended resources such as roofers, handymen, and cleaning services are also made readily available.

Vantage has also chosen to keep a very active and strong social media footprint on Facebook and Instagram, since many of the newer buyers are more familiar and comfortable with these channels and want immediate access and answers to their questions.

"When clients choose Vantage, they do so because they feel their needs are heard, and they feel a sense of trust," stated owner, Roger Mansourian. "Using today's technology, we make sure they are completely involved in the process, are aware of what's going on at all times, and know that things are being handled efficiently and with personal care."

Led by two Los Angeles natives in this new partnership, Vantage provides a combined 26 years of specific experience in specialty wholesale and retail mortgage products. The company's goal is to bring their vast network of wholesale lenders to the local LA market, and help the quickly growing group of investors and first-time home buyers who may not fit the strict regulations of the large retail banking institutions.

An example of this is a very popular program that allows a buyer with 20 percent down, no tax returns, and no income statement qualify for a large California residential loan - solely based on credit score and future rentals of the property. Construction loans for development are also a specialty - up to $15 million.

About Vantage Home Loans:

Located on the Sunset Strip, Vantage Home Loans is locally owned, and heavily vested in the California and Washington communities. Providing a wide range of creative financial offerings for both home owners and investors, Vantage provides a wealth of local experience and history in the market to its clients. Each loan and client always receives local, one-to-one attention throughout the entire loan process from a Vantage Mortgage Specialist.
