Meet a Scientologist Cultivates a Growing Interest in Constructing Greenhouses With Ray Pound

LOS ANGELES, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- Scientology Network's MEET A SCIENTOLOGIST, the weekly series spotlighting the everyday lives of Scientologists from around the world and all walks of life, announces an episode featuring building entrepreneur Ray Pound, on June 18, 2024.

MEET A SCIENTOLOGIST airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Scientology Network.

Ray Pound builds extraordinary greenhouses. Starting with only a few employees, his company now constructs massive and innovative structures that help growers grow the food that feeds the nation and the world, and his buildings have helped save entire species of trees from extinction.

ABOUT RAY POUND

A native of Berkeley, California, Ray's passion for building sparked when one childhood Christmas he received a construction kit. By age 12, he was already working construction jobs, building fences and repainting walls in his neighborhood. Clever and creative, Ray was a self-professed introvert and "almost paralyzed socially." But after enrolling in the Communication Course at a Church of Scientology, he found himself becoming more outgoing and happy.

Soon after, he met the girl of his dreams, got married, and went into the greenhouse business with his brother. His venture into building greenhouses started when he realized he could do a better job of it than the companies he'd hired to do the construction. The company he founded, Ag-Con Inc., has now built over a thousand greenhouses. And by designing and building special greenhouses that protect against deadly infestations, he's helped keep California citrus trees from going extinct.

Meet a Scientologist Showcases Top Brass With Virtuoso Trombonist Gianluca Scipioni

LOS ANGHELES, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- Scientology Network's MEET A SCIENTOLOGIST, the weekly series spotlighting the everyday lives of Scientologists from around the world and all walks of life, announces an episode featuring professional classical trombonist Gianluca Scipioni, premiering May 28, 2024.

MEET A SCIENTOLOGIST airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Scientology Network.

Gianluca Scipioni is a professional trombone player whose love for classical music shines through every note he plays. As principal trombonist for the esteemed Royal Theatre in Turin, Italy, and as part of one of the most successful brass quintets in the world, Gomalan Brass, his trombone regularly rings out from the stages of prestigious Italian and European concert halls.

ABOUT GIANLUCA SCIPIONI

A native of Rome, Gianluca Scipioni's mother enrolled him in music school at the age of nine. But it wasn't until high school that he discovered the instrument that would inspire him to pursue a career in music - the trombone. Forgoing college to study with some of the world's leading brass virtuosi, he turned professional in his early 20s, performing with the RAI National Symphony Orchestra and at the Teatro alla Scalla. But his dream of finding a permanent home with an orchestra was, he felt, unrealized due to a persistent case of "audition nerves." And despite nailing his audition to become principal trombonist with the Royal Theatre in Turin, he still had unexplained fears about his future.

After reading "Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health" and receiving Dianetics counseling, he conquered his fears, going on to achieve success and stability.

With his newfound courage, he expanded his career by joining fellow world-class brass players to form Gomalan Brass, an Italian brass quintet that mixes virtuosity with humor. Their immensely entertaining and innovative renditions of classical pieces have introduced new generations to the genre.

Today, he continues to perform with Gomalan Brass and the Royal Theatre, fulfilling his purpose to uplift others through music.

Meet a Scientologist Shakes Things Up with Brazilian Belly Dancer Serena Ramzy

LOS ANGELES, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- Scientology Network's MEET A SCIENTOLOGIST, the weekly series spotlighting the everyday lives of Scientologists from around the world and all walks of life, announces an episode on classical Egyptian dance performer Serena Ramzy, premiering May 14, 2024.

MEET A SCIENTOLOGIST airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Scientology Network.

Serena Ramzy is a Brazilian-born belly dancer who is introducing the ancient art form to a new generation of dancers. With a deep knowledge of classical Egyptian dance, she has become a popular international performer and teacher, sharing her love and appreciation of belly dancing with audiences and students around the world.

ABOUT SERENA RAMZY

Serena Ramzy was born in São Paolo, Brazil, to an Italian Portuguese family as the youngest of five siblings. As a child, she took up ballet, displaying prodigious talent that won her a highly coveted scholarship to the São Paolo City Ballet. Serena not only found its low-impact nature allowed her to continue dancing, but she also developed a passion for studying, performing, choreographing and teaching classical Egyptian dance - ultimately helping to keep the art form flourishing worldwide. Crucial to Serena's being able to share her appreciation and knowledge was overcoming her anxiety about speaking in front of groups. She credits the skills she learned on the introductory Scientology course Success through Communication, which enabled her to comfortably express herself. Learn How a Simple Act of Kindness Inspired a Movement on Meet a Scientologist

LOS ANGELES, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- "I never realized until I had my first son just how much you can love another person and just how far you're willing to go for them," says Scientologist Cristal Logothetis. In an episode of Meet a Scientologist on the Scientology Network, Logothetis describes how she came across the image of a three-year-old boy who drowned off the coast of Greece at the height of the Syrian refugee crisis. She was then riveted by news reports of thousands of families arriving in Greece. Parents carried their babies and toddlers in their arms as they trekked across Europe in search of a safe place to raise their families.

Logothetis set up a crowdfunding website to collect 100 baby carriers for these families. The response was overwhelming. Within days, she had not merely surpassed her goal, she'd rented and filled several storage lockers with more than 900 carriers.

Meet a Scientologist travels with Logothetis to Greece. She was joined by another woman who simply learned about the project online and volunteered to go with her. They distribute these carriers, showing moms and dads how to use them, often having to resort to sign language.

Her simple act of kindness has grown into an international movement. Today, her nonprofit, Carry the Future, has more than 50 volunteer staff and some 6,000 global volunteers. It provides aid to refugees, especially moms and babies, in countries including Greece, Jordan, Cyprus, Yemen, Bangladesh, and at the U.S./Mexico border.

"One of the amazing things about Carry the Future is that it attracted people from the first day from all walks of life. And it all starts with one person helping one other person," says Logothetis. "For us, it was simply a humanitarian mission to make sure that the most vulnerable people on the planet have an opportunity to get help."

Carry the Future changed the narrative, because it showed people that they too could get involved. "At the core of our message is 'You can make a difference; you can do something about it,'" says Logothetis, "which also happens to be very much at the core of Scientology."

Meet a Scientologist Gets Tempted by Love and Chocolate With Master Pastry Artists Armando Siracusano and Gabriella Comis

LOS ANGELES, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- Scientology Network's MEET A SCIENTOLOGIST - the weekly series spotlighting the everyday lives of Scientologists from around the world and all walks of life - announces an episode featuring elite chocolatiers Armando Siracusano and Gabriella Comis on July 4, 2023.

MEET A SCIENTOLOGIST airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Scientology Network.

Armando and Gabriella take the art of chocolate to the next level in their chocolate and gelato shops in Sicily. The couple shares their journey, from falling in love at a bakery to the inspirations for some of their most extraordinary desserts.

ABOUT ARMANDO SIRACUSANO AND GABRIELLA COMIS

Armando Siracusano was born in Catania, Italy. Inspired by his grandmother's fresh-baked bread, he became a baker by the age of 15. One day, Gabriella Comis walked into the bakery where Armando worked, and it was love at first sight. But it wasn't happily ever after quite yet. With her father dead set against their relationship, the young couple ran away together. Soon after, Armando used his dough to buy his first bakery - later uncovering the business's unsavory past connection to the mafia. After a series of continuing adventures, Armando eventually established himself as a bona fide baker. Then one fateful day he tasted pure chocolate and fell in love with the confection. From that moment forward, he focused on becoming a chocolatier and gelato maker, studying with the best in the world. Through pastry skills and business acumen, their shop, Cioccolato e Gelato, became an instant success and is renowned as one of the best artisan confectionary shops in all of Sicily.

Meet a Scientologist Finds Sweet Success with Innovative Beekeeper József Hegyi

LOS ANGELES, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- Scientology Network's MEET A SCIENTOLOGIST, the weekly series spotlighting the everyday lives of Scientologists from around the world and all walks of life, announces an episode featuring beekeeper and entrepreneur József Hegyi, premiering on June 20, 2023.

József Hegyi turned his boyhood passion for beekeeping into a thriving business. His company, Honey Hill, harvests honey and bee byproducts from his apiaries in the Hungarian forest, creating and distributing a variety of award-winning health and beauty products across Europe. As a naturopath and author, he also helps people take advantage of the amazing benefits of nature's sweetest gift.

ABOUT JÓZSEF HEGYI

When József Hegyi was growing up in Polgár, Hungary, his father brought home beehives, and so began József's fascination with bees. But after a nearly fatal motorcycle accident, he decided to pursue his lifelong passion, building apiaries in the forests of Hungary and becoming a professional beekeeper. Before long he founded his company, Honey Hill, and started producing a variety of honeys that soon grew in popularity across Europe. His research into the medicinal properties of honey and bee products formed the foundation from which he would go on to create innovative and award-winning honey-based health and beauty products. Meet a Scientologist Carries the Future with Cristal Logothetis

LOS ANGELES, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- Scientology Network's MEET A SCIENTOLOGIST--the weekly series spotlighting the everyday lives of Scientologists from around the world and all walks of life--announces an episode featuring humanitarian Cristal Logothetis on May 23, 2023.

Cristal Logothetis started the nonprofit organization Carry the Future to send baby carriers to Syrian refugees after seeing news reports of the harrowing journeys that families fleeing with babies faced. What started as her simple act of kindness has grown into a movement of thousands joining in to help save the lives of children.

ABOUT CRISTAL LOGOTHETIS

Born in Madrid, Spain, Cristal Logothetis moved to the United States at only eight years old and remained keenly aware of the hardships she endured emigrating and trying to assimilate into a foreign culture.

One day while scrolling through her newsfeed, she saw the image of a three-year-old Syrian boy who drowned off the coast of a Greek island as his family was fleeing the violence in their homeland. The experience left an indelible impression upon her and ignited a sense of "radical compassion." Wanting to assist the refugee families in any way she could, she decided to collect 100 baby carriers through a crowdfunding website. Within days, she hadn't merely surpassed her goal, she filled storage lockers with over 900 carriers--which she then personally helped distribute to refugee families.

Today, Cristal's nonprofit, Carry the Future, counts over 50 volunteer staff members with 6,000 global volunteers and has distributed more than 30,000 carriers in refugee crisis zones around the world.

Join Three Scientologists Whose Work Is a Celebration of Light

LOS ANGELES, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- In honor of International Day of Light, the Scientology Network features the impact of light on the work of artists featured in three episodes of the original series "Meet a Scientologist." UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, sets aside May 16 as International Day of Light to highlight the role of light in science, culture, art, education and sustainable development.

In honor of the day, the Scientology Network spotlights three episodes of the original series "Meet a Scientologist," featuring the work of men and women for whom light is the inspiration and medium of their art.

* János Héder, enthralled by the constellations and nebulae in the enormity of black space, sought to recreate the wonder he experienced through the creation of chandeliers that transform the spaces they illuminate. He and his wife Judit, fellow designer and joint CEO of Manooi Light Creations, and their team of designers and staff bring beauty and luminance to the world.

* Christy Lee Rogers uses the refraction of light through water to create works of photographic brilliance that have been compared to the works of Titian, Rubens and Caravaggio. Her artistic and personal journey and her role in forging a new respect for photography in the world of art is the subject of her episode.

* Tom Rigdon transforms light by faithful use of techniques used in creating the magnificent windows of Gothic and Renaissance churches. Stepping in to take over the faltering company for the wife of his best friend who died suddenly, he built the enterprise into a thriving studio, inspired by his belief that light is the most powerful aesthetic there is.

For Earth Day, the Church of Scientology Shares the Work of an Ecological Visionary

LOS ANGELES, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- An episode of Meet a Scientologist on the Scientology Network documents how Peter Vajda is preserving the Earth's resources by salvaging barren farmland.

Each year on April 22, Earth Day raises awareness of the importance of safeguarding the environment. This year's theme is "Invest in Our Planet." And Scientologist Peter Vajda has devoted his life to doing just that.

"With the population growing and productive farmland decreasing, this is a race to save future generations," says Vajda in his episode of Meet a Scientologist on the Scientology Network.

Heavy chemical pesticides and synthetic fertilizers are leaving a devastating wake of barren farmlands. But Vajda is reversing this blight with his award-winning, organically based technology. His eco-friendly solution to desertification is gaining international recognition.

"Agriculture is in my veins," says Vajda. Fond memories of picking apples in his grandfather's orchard as a child led him to study agricultural engineering in college. But it wasn't until he graduated that Vajda realized that in 60 years there may very well be no apples - or any viable agriculture. The heavy use of chemicals and pesticides is destroying much of the world's best farmlands, creating a threat to the future of all forms of life on Earth.

Vajda began working for a company at the forefront of soil rejuvenation and eventually became its chief executive officer. With him at the helm, driving research and development, the company's transformation of barren farmland brings new hope that the world's food production can be brought back from the brink of extinction.

Meet a Scientologist is an original series airing on Scientology Network. Episodes provide an in-depth look into the lives of individual Scientologists at the forefront of art, science, fashion, entertainment and technology.

One Reason You May Love to Immerse Yourself in the Scientology Network

LOS ANGELES, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- Featured this week on the Scientology Network, photographer Christy Lee Rogers creates breathtaking photographic works of art using her own unique underwater technique.

In a melding of baroque aesthetic with modern technology, Rogers created her own genre. Winner of the Sony World Photography Open Photographer Award in 2019, she was also commissioned by Apple to create her Water + Light underwater images with the iPhone. Apple featured this in one of its behind-the-scenes process films.

In an interview with CNN, Rogers described how she named her most recent collection "Human" to embody strength during the pandemic. She later donated one of the works "to the heroic doctors, nurses and staff of Mount Sinai" in the hopes that it would bring them "hope and inspiration."

Meet a Scientologist provides an in-depth look into the lives of individual Scientologists from the frontiers of art, science, sports and entertainment. And no one qualifies more as "cutting edge" than this award-winning artist. Rogers' episode of Meet a Scientologist introduces viewers to the genius behind these otherworldly creations.

Born and raised in Hawaii and growing up in and around water, she developed an affinity for the element that would play a pivotal role in her future career.

As a teenager, she became passionately interested in photography, spending hours in a darkroom developing her images. After finding the courage to pursue her passion professionally, she presented her first collection - models submerged in water, surrounded by billowing gowns against a solid black background.

Because her artwork defied conventional categorization, Rogers found gallery owners hesitant to take her on. But the stunning luminescence, color and composition of her work garnered admirers and clients, and quickly become a gallery favorite. Today, her art is world-renowned, and the story of how she got there is a picture worth a thousand words.

Share the Excitement of Fashion Week with ‘Meet a Scientologist: George Kalajian’

NEW YORK, N.Y. /ScoopCloud/ -- February 11-16 is Fashion Week when the world's top designers present their new collections in New York. The Scientology Network takes viewers behind the scenes of New York's frenetic fashion industry as a master craftsman helps designers solve last-minute dilemmas.

"The last two weeks before fashion week are completely insane," says George Kalajian, the industry's go-to expert for pleating. "We love creative designers - designers who like to push the envelope. But they are always designing in the 11th hour."

Kalajian literally wrote the book on pleating - an art that dates to the Egyptian pharaohs and is used today by some of the world's hottest fashion designers. His roots in the garment industry go back generations, but Kalajian once turned his back on the family business.

His episode of Meet a Scientologist is the story of his turnaround - how Scientology helped him repair a strained relationship with his father and ignite his passion and purpose.

In the process, the quality of his work elevated him into the upper echelons of the fashion industry, with his creations showcased on runways, in film - even in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Meet a Scientologist is an in-depth look into the lives of individual Scientologists from the frontiers of art, business, science, sports, entertainment and more. It is one of eight original series airing on the Scientology Network.

Since launching with a special episode featuring Scientology ecclesiastical leader Mr. David Miscavige, the Scientology Network has been viewed in 240 countries and territories worldwide in 17 languages. Broadcast from Scientology Media Productions, the Church's global media center in Los Angeles, the Scientology Network is available on DIRECTV Channel 320 and can be streamed on Scientology.tv, on mobile apps, and via the Roku, Amazon Fire and Apple TV platforms.
