Move For Hunger Hosts Parade With A Purpose at Apartmentalize 2026

NEW ORLEANS, La., June 15, 2026 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Move For Hunger, a national nonprofit dedicated to reducing food waste and fighting hunger, will bring companies and communities from across the multifamily industry together for Parade With A Purpose, a Mardi Gras-style second line parade in New Orleans followed by a hands-on snack kit event benefiting local kids facing hunger.

The event will take place on Thursday, June 18 at 5 PM during Apartmentalize 2026, the National Apartment Association’s annual conference. Impact 100 Jersey Coast Awards $100,000 Grant to Move For Hunger to Address Food Insecurity in Monmouth and Ocean Counties

SHREWSBURY, N.J., Feb. 26, 2026 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Impact 100 Jersey Coast has awarded a $100,000 grant to Move For Hunger, a national nonprofit dedicated to reducing food waste and fighting hunger, to support expanded food recovery and delivery efforts across Monmouth and Ocean Counties.

Move For Hunger works at the intersection of food recovery and transportation, partnering with farms, food companies, distributors, and a national network of transportation providers to redirect surplus food—such as short-dated inventory and rejected loads—from landfills to local food banks and pantries at no cost to receiving organizations.

Food insecurity in Monmouth and Ocean Counties has increased by 25% since 2019, with approximately 121,500 residents now facing hunger, while nearly 38% of food produced nationwide goes to waste. This grant will enable Move For Hunger to deliver 160,000 pounds of food locally, including 100,000 pounds of fresh produce and protein, while eliminating transportation barriers by leveraging donated and discounted trucking services. Deliveries will be matched to real-time requests from local food banks and pantries to ensure efficient and responsive distribution. Move For Hunger will also host a community-based educational event in 2026 focused on food waste, hunger awareness, and expanding local recovery partnerships.

Move For Hunger’s Music City Drop Raises Over Half a Million Meals to Fight Hunger

NASHVILLE, Tenn., Nov. 20, 2025 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Move For Hunger, a national hunger relief nonprofit, successfully hosted its Music City Drop event in downtown Nashville, rallying the community and corporate partners to raise the equivalent of more than 680,000 meals for families in need.

The high-energy event invited 50 brave participants to rappel 20 stories down the Omni Hotel, turning courage into action in the fight against hunger. Thanks to incredible community support and ongoing donations, Music City Drop 2025 has already surpassed expectations—making it one of Move For Hunger’s most impactful events of the year.

DETROIT, Mich. /ScoopCloud/ -- It was just confirmed, Move For Hunger, a national non-profit organization that fights hunger and food waste, successfully broke the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the Most Cereal Boxes Toppled in a Domino Fashion with Topple Hunger.

The previous record, set in 2021, stood at an impressive 6,391 cereal boxes. Move For Hunger shattered that title with a staggering 12,952 cereal boxes toppled during the event held at the Henry Ford Detroit Pistons Performance Center, thus raising the bar and hosting the biggest cereal domino topple ever seen.

Beyond the excitement of breaking a world record, this endeavor also focuses on a nationwide crisis- raising awareness about the significant issues of food insecurity and food waste in the United States. The record attempt will help provide half a million meals to communities in need, and there's still time to support the cause. To help make this challenge possible, WK Kellogg Co and Kroger generously donated the cereal used in the topple attempt, and the United Dairy Industry of Michigan contributed a gallon of milk for every serving of cereal donated. Additional support came from Hellmann's, the Lineage Foundation for Good, University Moving & Storage, and the Detroit Pistons, who all strive for a world without hunger or food waste.

In attendance for the October 12th event were both Tony the Tiger and the Detroit Pistons mascot, Hooper. Tony the Tiger had the important responsibility and honor of knocking over the first domino - a box of Special K(r) cereal.

After the event, all the cereal and milk used were delivered to Forgotten Harvest and Gleaners Community Food Bank in Greater Detroit, ensuring that the food doesn't go to waste and reaches those who need it most.

Move For Hunger is asking the public to join in and make a donation to help continue the fight against hunger. All donations will be matched up to $75,000 by the event's generous sponsors.

Move For Hunger Recovers More Food Than Ever Before, Donating Over 4.5 Million Meals to Food Insecure Communities

By mobilizing transport networks to deliver surplus food to communities in need they have been able to distribute over 4.5 million meals across the nation.

Collecting food not only helps feed the 34 million people struggling with food insecurity, but also lowers the carbon footprint. In 2022, they removed 1,156 metric tons of CO2 from the atmosphere.

The grant will also help grow Move For Hunger's network of movers and multi-family properties which will increase the amount of food recovered and transported along with increasing awareness of the organization's mission.
