Atlantic Bay helps Roc Solid Foundation pack 16,000 Ready Bags for families facing childhood cancer

Inaugural Ready Bag Rally brings Roc Solid's mission to life through a hands-on community event

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., Sept. 24, 2026 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Atlantic Bay Mortgage Group LLC (Atlantic Bay) joined nearly 1,800 volunteers at Norfolk Scope Arena on September 18 for Roc Solid Foundation’s inaugural Ready Bag Rally. In less than two hours, volunteers packed 16,000 Ready Bags to support families navigating a childhood cancer diagnosis. The rally was Roc Solid’s first Ready Bag packing event of this scale, bringing families, corporate partners and community members together around the nonprofit’s goal of reaching every child diagnosed with cancer in the United States.

Ready Bags are provided to families near the time of a child’s diagnosis, when an unexpected hospital stay can leave them without basic necessities. Each bag includes toiletries, a blanket, a journal, chargers and other contents informed by feedback from families and hospitals. Roc Solid set its rally goal at 16,000 bags to match the approximate number of U.S. children diagnosed with cancer annually.

At the rally, Atlantic Bay CEO Brian Holland and his family joined Eric Newman, Roc Solid’s Founder and Chief Play Officer, along with other longtime supporters to pack the final five bags.

“Atlantic Bay has truly believed in our Ready Bag program from the beginning,” said Newman, himself a childhood cancer survivor. “They’ve been with us every step of the way, and we wouldn’t be where we are today, working toward reaching every family in the United States, without their support.”

“Roc Solid has a way of turning an incredibly difficult moment for a family into one where they know people are standing beside them,” Holland said. “We believed in what Eric was building from the beginning, and seeing 16,000 bags packed in one room shows just how far that vision has come.”

Atlantic Bay’s longstanding support for the Ready Bag program began in 2018, when Holland attended a Roc Solid fundraiser and heard a mother share her family’s experience with childhood cancer. At the time, Roc Solid was distributing only a few hundred Ready Bags annually. Holland made a long-term commitment to the program, which has grown each year with the support of Atlantic Bay and other partners. Last year, Roc Solid distributed about 5,500 bags in collaboration with 230 children’s hospitals nationwide.

As part of the initiative, Shannon Sharpe will visit military installations including Nellis Air Force Base and Fort Benning to spend time with active-duty service members and military communities. The visits are set up as private appreciation events centered on connection, conversation, and respect for those who serve.

“I have tremendous respect for the men and women who serve our country,” said Sharpe. “These visits are about listening, showing appreciation, and honoring the commitment and sacrifice of military families.”

The broader initiative will support awareness of America’s Gold Star Families and elevate stories of service and remembrance during Memorial Day and beyond. Organizers emphasized that the effort was built from a personal commitment within the Le Portier team and is intended to be an ongoing effort rather than a one-time campaign.

“We are honored to partner with Le Portier Cognac,” said Darin Funk, Executive Director of America’s Gold Star Families. “Their commitment to community and remembrance makes them an ideal ally in our efforts to support and uplift Gold Star families nationwide.”

The collaboration will support awareness and outreach efforts for America’s Gold Star Families – those navigating the loss of a spouse, parent, child, or sibling in military service – while reinforcing opportunities for remembrance, connection, and healing. The initiative is intended to elevate understanding of their mission and highlight the experiences of families within this community.

Coastal Windows & Exteriors Completes Fifth ‘Roof for Heroes’ Donation for Marine Veteran in Middleborough

Local contractor installs full GAF roofing system at no cost for veteran Lenny Szrlong as part of community initiative

MIDDLEBOROUGH, Mass., March 20, 2026 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Coastal Windows & Exteriors (CWE) of Beverly today announced the installation of a complete GAF roofing system installation at no cost for Marine Corps veteran Lenny Szrlong at his Middleborough home. This marks the 5th Roof for Heroes donation since the program launched in 2020.

Photo caption: Stephanie Vanderbilt and Marine veteran Lenny Szrlong at the Middleborough home during the Roof for Heroes installation.

Szrlong, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran residing in Middleborough, Mass., was selected for this donation through Coastal Windows & Exteriors’ Roof for Heroes program. The initiative reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to serve those who have served our nation.

“This initiative holds dear to our hearts and mission as a company,” says Stephanie Vanderbilt, Owner of Coastal Windows & Exteriors. “Providing shelter means making a promise — a promise of protection and security. Donating a free GAF roofing system is a great way to keep that promise, as its layers of high-quality protection work together to keep the home and the people inside safe from the elements.”

The energy-efficient roofing installation features America’s #1 shingle brand, offering multi-layered defense against weather damage. The winter roof replacement helped provide leak prevention, guard against moisture penetration, minimize attic heat buildup, and prevent ice dam formation during harsh New England winters. This winter, the Farmers’ Almanac forecast a “Chill, Snow, Repeat” pattern, reinforcing the importance of a durable roofing system to protect homes from heavy snow, ice dams, and freezing temperatures common across New England.

Szrlong expressed his gratitude for the life-changing donation. “I’d like to thank Coastal Windows & Exteriors for this incredible opportunity,” said Szrlong. “As a Marine Corps veteran, and lifelong Massachusetts resident, it warms my heart that there are companies like this who help local veterans through real action and tangible results. Most contractors I’ve dealt with didn’t know their product, and only wanted a sale. Theo, and the rest of the team at Coastal proved they were different. And for that I am grateful!”

Roof for Heroes addresses an incredibly important need for veterans across the region. Many service members face financial hardship after their military service, making major home repairs impossible without assistance. A failing roof can lead to structural damage, health hazards from mold and moisture, and significant energy loss. Poor roofing performance accounts for up to 25% of a home’s total energy loss.

A properly installed roofing system from Coastal Windows & Exteriors regulates attic temperatures and maintains consistent heating in New England homes. The timing of this donation is critical, as electricity rates have increased 31% since 2021. Over the past year alone, National Grid rates increased 13% and natural gas rates jumped 27%. With a cold winter bringing higher energy bills, a high-performance roof delivers both immediate comfort and long-term savings for veteran families.

“Thank you so much for supporting our amazing Veterans. GAF is proud to support Coastal in this Roof for Heroes event,” said Lisa Kingsley, GAF New England Regional Sales Director.

“Reaching our 5th Roof for Heroes donation is a meaningful achievement for our team,” says Vanderbilt. “Each veteran we help represents a life changed and a family protected. We’re honored to continue this mission and look forward to supporting more veterans in the years ahead.”

“We can’t thank Coastal Windows & Exteriors enough for honoring those who served with a free roof…there is no better feeling than helping veterans in need. The town and veterans applaud your company for its compassion and commitment to helping veterans!” said Stephen Adelman, Chief Warrant Officer 2 (Retired), Veterans Service Officer, Town of Middleborough. “This is wonderful what you are doing, and the Veterans Office and Town can’t thank you enough for what you are doing for Lenny.”

“The town of Middleborough is grateful to Coastal Windows & Exteriors to provide this roof for Lenny, a deserving Vietnam veteran and Middleborough resident,” said Jay McGrail, Town Manager, Middleborough.

“I am so impressed that Coastal offers these free roofs for our veterans and I’m thrilled that they chose to replace one for Lenny, a Marine Veteran here in Middleborough,” said State Representative Norman Orrall (Precincts 2, 4 & 5).

“Our veterans deserve to feel safe and secure in their own homes. The Roof for Heroes program is a meaningful example of a community honoring service with action. By providing a new roof for Marine veteran Lenny Szrlong, Coastal Windows & Exteriors is making a real difference, and I’m proud to join Middleborough in recognizing Lenny’s service and sacrifice. Thanks for all you do!” said State Senator Kelly Dooner (3rd Bristol & Plymouth District).

CWE earned the Minuteman Service Award in 2022 for outstanding dedication and leadership supporting active-duty American military personnel and veterans. As an SBA award recipient for exceptional community service, the company’s commitment extends beyond the Roof for Heroes donations, offering a $750 additional discount on top of any current promotion for all military personnel, plus up to 20 years of financing based on credit approval.

“You protect our country, we protect your home,” Vanderbilt adds. “That’s the foundation of our Roof for Heroes program. We believe actions speak louder than words, and this is our way of demonstrating gratitude to the men and women who have sacrificed for our freedom.”

U.S. active and military veterans interested in these programs can contact Coastal Windows & Exteriors for more information at https://www.mycoastalwindows.com

SHREWSBURY, N.J., Feb. 26, 2026 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Impact 100 Jersey Coast has awarded a $100,000 grant to Move For Hunger, a national nonprofit dedicated to reducing food waste and fighting hunger, to support expanded food recovery and delivery efforts across Monmouth and Ocean Counties.

Photo caption: Bridget Foley, Director of Multifamily Memberships at Move For Hunger, accepts the grant award from Impact 100 Jersey Coast.

Move For Hunger works at the intersection of food recovery and transportation, partnering with farms, food companies, distributors, and a national network of transportation providers to redirect surplus food—such as short-dated inventory and rejected loads—from landfills to local food banks and pantries at no cost to receiving organizations.

Food insecurity in Monmouth and Ocean Counties has increased by 25% since 2019, with approximately 121,500 residents now facing hunger, while nearly 38% of food produced nationwide goes to waste. This grant will enable Move For Hunger to deliver 160,000 pounds of food locally, including 100,000 pounds of fresh produce and protein, while eliminating transportation barriers by leveraging donated and discounted trucking services. Deliveries will be matched to real-time requests from local food banks and pantries to ensure efficient and responsive distribution. Move For Hunger will also host a community-based educational event in 2026 focused on food waste, hunger awareness, and expanding local recovery partnerships.

“Food should never be a luxury,” said Adam Lowy, Founder and Executive Director of Move For Hunger. “This support allows us to move more food, more efficiently, to neighbors who need it most—while preventing perfectly good food from going to waste.”

Support from Impact 100 Jersey Coast advances shared priorities of addressing unmet community needs, directly serving underserved populations, and delivering measurable, high-impact outcomes. Together, Impact 100 Jersey Coast and Move For Hunger are working to strengthen local food systems and build a more food-secure future for communities across Monmouth and Ocean Counties.

“Impact 100 Jersey Coast is honored to partner with Move For Hunger to expand access to fresh, nutritious food across Monmouth and Ocean Counties,” said Lori Mallon, Grantee Liaison for Move to Hunger at Impact 100 Jersey Coast. “By investing in Move For Hunger’s innovative recovery and distribution network, we are helping ensure that more local families, seniors, and children have reliable access to healthy meals – helping our neighbors thrive with dignity and security.”

Each year, the Above and ‘BEE’yond Teacher Essay Contest encourages students to nominate an exemplary educator with an in-person essay submission at participating Applebee’s® restaurants. Winners enjoy a $500 sponsorship for their classroom and a festive end-of-year class party.

Cartus Partners with Move For Hunger to Fight Food Insecurity

NEPTUNE, N.J., April 16, 2025 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Cartus, a relocation service company offering cutting-edge mobility and real estate solutions, technology, and industry expertise, has partnered with Move For Hunger, a national nonprofit dedicated to reducing food waste and fighting hunger nationwide.

Move For Hunger
Image caption: Move For Hunger.

This collaboration aims to rescue and provide 100,000 additional meals to food insecure communities across the country. Hunger exists in every single county in the U.S., and with current cuts to nutrition programs, delivering meals is more critical than ever. Together, Cartus and Move For Hunger are committed to fighting against hunger and making a difference one move at a time.

“Our team at Cartus are incredibly excited to be partnering with Move For Hunger in 2025!  As huge admirers of the work they do to combat food insecurity, we’re delighted to play a part in supporting their work providing meals to families across North America.” – Andrew Conduit-Turner, Director: Sustainability & Strategic Development

Food insecurity continues to be a pressing issue, with millions of Americans struggling to access reliable, nutritious food. Meanwhile, 38% of food in the U.S. goes to waste each year. Partnerships like this ensure we can continue to do the work and bring surplus food to those who need it most.

“As a part of our wider ESG priorities, we’re especially thrilled to be enabling the option for the hundreds of clients and thousands of families we move in the region, to support via the direct donation of excess non-perishable foods. Not only providing meals to families for whom it will make a huge difference, but in doing so, also helping families to ship mindfully, reducing waste, and lowering the impact of shipments by reducing unnecessary volume – All in all, helping us support people with moving better!” said Andrew Conduit-Turner, Director: Sustainability & Strategic Development.

Since its founding in 2009, Move For Hunger has rescued more than 58 million pounds of food, providing over 48 million meals to food banks and pantries across the United States and Canada.

“We are elated to have Cartus as part of the Move For Hunger network,” said Adam Lowy, Founder and Executive Director at Move For Hunger. “With food banks experiencing an increased demand and 47 million Americans facing food insecurity, it’s essential to do what we can to reduce food waste and fight hunger. With our new partner Cartus, we can make even more of a difference!”

Apparo Expands Impact in Atlanta, Empowering Nonprofits through Strong Corporate Partnerships

ATLANTA, Ga., March 25, 2025 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Apparo, a nonprofit dedicated to enhancing nonprofit effectiveness through skilled corporate volunteering and technology solutions, is calling on Atlanta’s corporate community to join their mission. Over the past three years, Apparo has expanded their footprint in Atlanta, collaborating with local nonprofits to drive digital transformation and operational efficiency. Through their partnership, leading corporations and Apparo are helping nonprofits streamline operations, secure funding, and amplify their community impact.

Apparo - Amplifying Nonprofit Impact
Image caption: Apparo – Amplifying Nonprofit Impact.

Since entering the Atlanta market, Apparo has engaged corporate volunteers to support 24 nonprofits with technology planning, process optimization, and cybersecurity improvements and has already delivered nearly $1 million in support and upskilled 200+ nonprofit staff members.

Apparo welcomes Atlanta-based corporations to explore partnership opportunities and make a direct impact on the nonprofit sector. To learn more, visit apparo.org/corporations.

Apparo’s ability to drive corporate-nonprofit collaboration is reinforced by its recent membership in CVC Atlanta (Corporate Volunteer Council of Atlanta). This strategic move positions Apparo to connect with Atlanta’s leading businesses, offering them meaningful opportunities to leverage their employees’ skills for social good.

“Our expansion in Atlanta has shown that when businesses and nonprofits work together, real transformation happens,” said Kim Lanphear, CEO of Apparo. “Through skilled volunteerism, corporate partners not only strengthen the nonprofit sector but also create lasting community impact. We invite Atlanta’s corporate leaders to join us in making a difference.”

A prime example of this impact is Apparo’s recent partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta (BBBSMA). With a 65-year legacy of youth mentorship, BBBSMA has grown rapidly, increasing its staff from 34 to 100 while serving over 2,000 children across 11 metro Atlanta counties. However, their technological infrastructure struggled to keep pace with this growth. Apparo paired BBBSMA with skilled volunteers from CapTech Consulting and Hylaine, who conducted a comprehensive technology assessment. The result: a strategic roadmap that enhances efficiency, strengthens cybersecurity, and streamlines processes—ultimately enabling BBBSMA to better serve Atlanta’s youth.

Adam Boitnott, Apparo Board Chair and CEO of Hylaine, emphasized the value of these partnerships: “At Hylaine, we’ve seen firsthand the power of skilled volunteering. The work we’ve done with Apparo demonstrates how corporate expertise can drive real impact for nonprofits, and I encourage more companies to get involved in this important work.”

Upon completing this Community Impact Project, BBBSMA anticipates significant operational improvements. By optimizing its ticketing system and increasing efficiency, the organization expects to reduce staff time on resolving technology issues. As Harold Mizell, a BBBSMA representative, explains, “When the Development Department is operating at peak efficiency, we can more effectively fundraise. On the same note, when we get the same amount or more work done while using fewer resources, there are financial benefits.”

Hylaine’s Debby Murphy, a skilled volunteer in this Community Impact Project shares, “Working with Apparo and Big Brothers Big Sisters was a great experience. The BBBS IT Team was already doing great things on their own, yet was very receptive to input from our project team. I enjoyed learning about the organization – the enthusiasm of the BBBS team was truly inspiring.”

Senior Communities Unite to Support Displaced Seniors After the Eaton Fire

LA VERNE, Calif., Jan. 23, 2025 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — In a remarkable display of compassion and community spirit, Hillcrest, an age-qualified community in La Verne is showing what it means to be a good neighbor by helping seniors displaced by the devastating Eaton Fire. Hillcrest offered seniors housing and a chance to rebuild their lives with a new home. The fire destroyed The Terraces at Park Marino in Pasadena, leaving many residents, including those with significant health needs, without a place to call home.

Hillcrest, an age-qualified community in La Verne
Image caption: Hillcrest, an age-qualified community in La Verne.

Within just 24 hours of receiving a call for assistance from The Terraces at Park Marino, Hillcrest’s Director of Sales and Marketing, Shirley Turner, and her team mobilized to welcome eight new residents into their community. Hillcrest staff worked tirelessly around the clock to prepare fully furnished, move-in-ready apartments for the displaced residents.

“Our team’s immediate response reflects the heart of Hillcrest’s mission: to care for others in need,” said Turner. “The collaboration with The Terraces at Park Marino underscores the power of communities coming together in times of crisis.”

Hillcrest went above and beyond to ensure a warm and supportive transition for the new residents. Team members purchased essential items and furnished their new residences, while staff from food service and nursing care joined the residents for meals to extend a heartfelt welcome.

As part of their disaster response plan, Hillcrest made special accommodations by conducting personalized assessments to address each resident’s unique care needs. Hillcrest’s Resident Association is also working to provide each newly welcomed resident with a gift card so they may purchase their personal essential items.

Former Terrace residents now residing at Hillcrest, including Jennie Frederick and Oliver Meeker, share their personal stories of resilience and their experiences in their new home.

Meeker recalls seeing the fire “out my window coming down the hill and then coming across the fields, but I didn’t imagine it would be allowed to get to us. But with the wind, they just couldn’t handle it.” Upon arriving at Hillcrest, Meeker is getting settled. “This is a nice place. Nice food. I’m doing okay.”

Frederick remembers the warm welcome they received when arriving at Hillcrest. “When we got out, everybody – all the employees – even the ones that weren’t on duty, just came flying in and helped. It was really organized.” It was a relief as the seniors had spent about three days at the convention center and then we were taken to the Pico District in L.A., near Santa Monica. “We just had what was on our backs and a lot of us didn’t have our phones. I was one of the ones that didn’t have my phone. And we thought, hey, you know, we’re not in the fire, so we’re good to go. I was amazed at how organized the fire department, police department and everything was, working together to get us to safety.”

Stories of the evacuation include heroic acts during the fire, such as team members carrying residents out of the burning building and a bus driver who stayed with evacuees overnight to ensure their safety. “We didn’t know where the rest of the people went. We didn’t know where we were going. Our van driver brought us here, and she just told us we’re going to La Verne,” remembers Frederick.

“These acts of bravery and kindness remind us of the strength and humanity in our communities,” said Turner. “We are honored to be part of their journey toward recovery.”

The new Hillcrest residents, now located about 25 miles east of Pasadena, are finding comfort in their new environment, thanks to the unwavering support of both Hillcrest and The Terraces at Park Marino teams.

About Hillcrest:

Hillcrest is an upscale 501(c)(3) non-profit continuing care retirement community (CCRC) centrally located in the San Gabriel Valley, less than 30 minutes from Los Angeles, Anaheim, Pasadena and San Bernardino and located at the gateway to the Inland Empire. EPIC trends Announce 3rd Annual Bringing Christmas Home campaign to donate creatively decorated Christmas Trees to children and families facing hardship

Designer Decorated Trees will Deck the Halls of CHOC OC, Children's Hospital Los Angeles, OC Speech and Language, the TERi Campus and the homes of families with children in the hospital

CERRITOS, Calif., Nov. 25, 2024 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — This year families with children undergoing treatment at local children’s hospitals can check one thing off their holiday to-do list, getting a Christmas tree, thanks to a local brand representative firm and its clients. EPIC trends and partners launched their 3rd annual holiday campaign, Bringing Christmas Home, by delivering 200 undecorated Christmas trees to its diverse group of clients in design around Southern California. Each designer will create a theme and decorate a tree to compete for top honors in one of nine categories.

These creatively themed trees will eventually deck the halls of children’s hospitals and other organizations bringing smiles to families in hardship throughout Southern California.

The 200 decorated trees will be collected during the first week of December and lined up in the EPIC warehouse in Cerritos where the team will judge and designate winners in each category.

The trees will be delivered to Children’s Hospital LA December 9th, Children’s Hospital of Orange County December 10th, and OC Speech Language and Learning Center December 12th. On Dec 2, the trees will be delivered to TERi Campus in San Diego.

Children in the hospitals will be able to pick out the tree they like and place it in their rooms. Other trees will deck the hallways and spread cheer in the areas where families gather.

“While most families are looking forward to decorating their homes, those facing illness are missing out,” said Terri Burkhart, Principal, EPIC trends. “We are grateful for the chance to drop off the decorated trees and see so many faces light up from the fun and imaginative designs.”

Each local design firm provides the theme, the ornaments, the lights, and the creativity. Winners and noteworthy designs from years prior included a minions themed tree, a hand-flocked snowscape tree complete with polar bears, a tree turned into a big penguin and a Candyland themed tree with a candy village around the base.

“We are grateful to the design firms who collaborated with us on the opportunity to deliver joy to families enduring hardships during the holidays,” said Sabrina Benavides, A&D Manager, EPIC trends.

Many parents at the recipient organizations will bring a tree home and hopefully be relieved to have one less thing to do during this busy holiday season.

2024 CATEGORIES:

Top Tree, Traditional and Timeless, People’s Choice, Theatrical/thrilling (best use of a movie, song or tv show), Terrific Toyland (best use of toys, activities, games or playfulness), Tasty Treat (Candyland or food inspired), Precious Pets (use of any animal), True Touchdown (sports team Inspired), Totally Out of this Tree (out of the box or wild idea).

“We open up our doors to everyone to ensure that no one is alone or hungry on this holiday,” shares Keith Waters, Director of Operations for AJ’s. This year’s Thanksgiving feast will feature a delightful spread of time-honored classics, including turkey, ham, dressing, mashed potatoes with turkey gravy, green bean casserole, and an assortment of delicious pies, all complemented by refreshing iced tea.

In addition to the main location in Fort Walton Beach, AJ’s sister store in Grayton Beach will also participate for the fourth year in a row. Waters emphasizes, “This is a community outreach to give back to a community that blesses us all year. Everyone is welcome to dine as part of the AJ’s family. There is absolutely no charge; donations will be accepted from those capable of making them, with all proceeds benefitting the Kids on the Coast Foundation.”

This year, donations will specifically focus on aiding high school students to ensure they have a joyful Christmas. Dan Collins, a spokesperson for Kids on the Coast, explains, “We always hear about donating toys and bikes, but the older teens in high school often get forgotten. We know there are many needs that need to be filled.”

Alan Laird, owner of AJ’s, expressed his enthusiasm for the event: “We want to give back to those who may not have the means to celebrate Thanksgiving. This is our way of thanking the community that supports us and our families every day. We expect this Thanksgiving feast to be bigger than ever, especially after such a tough year for everyone.”

Both AJ’s on the Bayou and AJ’s Grayton Beach will provide entertainment for diners throughout the meal, with AJ’s Grayton Beach also hosting their Annual Thanksgiving Karaoke Party for all ages at 5 p.m.

Spodak Dental Group Collects More Than 210 Pounds of Halloween Candy for Soldiers’ Angels ‘Treats for Troops’

DELRAY BEACH, Fla., Nov. 22, 2024 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Spodak Dental Group proudly sponsored another Halloween Candy Buyback event this year, where both local children and members of the armed forces benefited. The team collected more than 210 pounds of Halloween candy, which was donated to Soldiers’ Angels in support of international and national heroes as part of the “Treats for Troops” initiative.

Image caption: Spodak Dental Group proudly sponsored another Halloween Candy Buyback event this year.

“The ‘Treats for Troops’ program is such a great way to not only say ‘thank you’ to those who are serving and those who have served, but it also helps to reduce the amount of candy our local children eat after the Halloween holiday,” said Dr. Craig Spodak, general dentist at Spodak Dental Group. “Tooth decay is one of the most common diseases of childhood, and this is a fun way to help smiles stay healthy.”

This is the ninth year of the “Treats for Troops” program, which brings candy to deployed service members, National Guard members, reservists, and veterans in VA medical facilities. The Spodak Dental Group team is proud to not only support our troops, but also is happy to encourage children to donate their candy instead of eating it, which will help to reduce tooth decay.

Since the campaign’s launch in 2016, the organization has sent 594,970 pounds of Halloween candy around the globe. The goal for 2024 was 150,000 pounds.

“The annual Soldiers’ Angels ‘Treats for Troops’ program is not just about candy,” said Soldiers’ Angels President and CEO Amy Palmer. “It’s about bringing the joy of home to our deployed service members wherever they are during the Halloween season.”

Candy and handwritten letters and drawings were collected at Spodak Dental Group, located at 3911 W. Atlantic Ave., the week after Halloween during normal business hours. Spodak Dental Group gave kids $1 per pound, up to 5 pounds maximum.

The program provides support in essential areas like strategic business planning, marketing, finance, operations, and supplier diversity business development to help these entrepreneurs scale, become employer firms, and access public and private contracting opportunities.

Supplier diversity delivers better business outcomes: According to Supplier.io, for every $1 spent on supplier diversity programs, communities benefit by $1.80. These programs created more than 1.3 million jobs in 2023 alone. Pure Polymer Solutions Employee Runs Critical Supplies to Hurricane Victims in Pinellas

TAMPA BAY, Fla., Oct. 16, 2024 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — As Hurricane Helene & Milton wreaked havoc across Florida’s Gulf Coast, employees at Pure Polymer Solutions (PPS) took extraordinary action. Nick Strazzulla, a lead water treatment specialist at PPS, requested special permission from the company’s founder, Bob Davis, to use a company boat to deliver emergency supplies and assist in rescue operations in some of the hardest-hit areas, including St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Barrier Island, and Boca Ciega.

With permission granted and the company supplying fuel, Nick and team spent their time tirelessly volunteering to help neighbors and Pinellas community members in need. Accompanied by two medically trained volunteers – EMT and Marine Haley Crippen, and Army Veteran Trisha Perez – Nick ran multiple rescue missions, providing much-needed aid to residents trapped by floodwaters.

Among the many people Nick and his team assisted was Joe Mestas, who was in urgent need of heart medication before an upcoming surgery. Joe had left Barrier Island to check on his sister’s dog, Taffy, and found himself unable to return home due to impassable roads. Nick’s quick action ensured that Joe received his medication, allowing him to proceed with his surgery.

In addition to delivering essential supplies like food, water, and fuel, Nick and his team performed wellness checks on dozens of stranded residents. They responded to distress signals from an online resource called “Need Rescue Pinellas,” which listed individuals who were trapped, some on their roofs. On one of the missions, Nick and team transported a stranded individual to the hospital.

“When I heard about the storm’s impact, I knew I had to do something,” said Nick. “It wasn’t a part of my job description, but these were my neighbors, my community, and they needed help.”

Nick’s dedication didn’t go unnoticed, though he has remained humble about his efforts. “Nick came to me with the idea; it wasn’t something we asked of him. He wanted to help, and we were more than happy to support him,” said Bob Davis, founder of Pure Polymer Solutions. “But if you ask Nick, he’ll say he didn’t do anything special.”

PPS CEO Mitchell Stocki commended Nick and the team, stating, “It’s actions like these that make our Greater Tampa Bay community great. We’re proud of Nick and the selflessness he displayed, even though he seeks no recognition.”

Nick’s selfless efforts, alongside Haley Crippen and Trisha Perez, are a testament to the spirit of the Tampa Bay community and the company values of Pure Polymer Solutions. The team worked around the clock, saving lives, delivering supplies, and offering hope to those in desperate need.

Pure Polymer Solutions is honored to have employees like Nick who embody the company’s commitment to community, integrity, and service.
