With WellVisor and FlexCare seamlessly working together in the WellVisor solution, employees and their family members now have one less app to learn to fully take advantage of their employee benefits.

"FlexCare is excited to partner with WellVisor to expand our opportunities in the employer market. We view this as a tremendous opportunity to simplify the delivery of our valuable benefit to employers and their employees," said FlexCare Founder & CEO Lee Shoemake.

"While FlexCare already has one of the highest utilization rates among virtual care providers, we are always looking for new ways to simplify delivery and increase utilization. Through this partnership and WellVisor's ability to educate members on the benefits and services available to them, we predict members will be even more aware of their FlexCare options and more likely to take advantage of our quicker, cost-saving, virtual care services."

Docsnap Partners with FlexCare Digital Health to Expand Services to Members, Families, Employers, Veterans, Medicare, and Medicaid Patients

ATLANTA, Ga. /ScoopCloud/ -- Docsnap, the first nationwide Consumer Health Utility, supports consumers leveraging their HIPAA rights to take ownership of all their medical records. Docsnap announced today its partnership with FlexCare Digital Health to expand access to quality healthcare services for members, families, employees, veterans, Medicare, and Medicaid Patient services. This partnership allows docsnaps' members to benefit from Telemedicine & TeleDentistry virtually, 24/7/365. Docsnap and FlexCare will start their partnership immediately to begin providing digital health access to all docsnap members and enterprise customers.

"Docsnap is excited to welcome FlexCare Digital Health to our partnership family, filling a vital need for our members. As the founder of docsnap and the father of a daughter with a chronic health issue, having access to virtual care visits when it's needed and not when you are told you can have it is critical for the reduction of pain and suffering, stress and anxiety, and the high cost of avoidable urgent care and emergency room visits," said founder Dr. Anthony Mari.

According to UnitedHealth Group research, two-thirds of hospital ED visits annually by individuals in the United States - 18 million out of 27 million - are avoidable. By docsnap and FlexCare providing access 24/7 to compensate for the nation's shortage of Primary Care providers, docsnap provides members "peace-of-mind," knowing they have access to advice about urgent and emergent care when they need it!

"FlexCare is excited to partner with docsnap in providing virtual care services for their Consumer Health Utility," said Principal Lee Shoemake. "We view this as a tremendous opportunity to provide a valuable benefit to millions of docsnap members."

A virtual consult by a licensed physician or dentist from the comfort and convenience of a computer or mobile device can help members get the care they need when they need it.

FlexCare is committed to fulfilling this important member benefit, which will not only assist with providing on demand care, but it will also close the gap of availability to digital health providers.

Encounter Telehealth Among 340 Organizations That Sent Letter to Congress Urging Action on Telehealth

OMAHA, Neb. /ScoopCloud/ -- Encounter Telehealth joined 340 organizations in signing a letter urging Congressional leaders to make telehealth flexibilities catalyzed by the COVID-19 pandemic permanent. This multi-stakeholder letter is represented by leaders in a wide range of healthcare industries from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.

At the start of the pandemic Congress quickly waived barriers, such as geographic and site restrictions, to allow for the expansion of telehealth. This enabled federal agencies to allow providers to deliver care virtually to their patients, and made telehealth available to all Medicare recipients. This revolutionized healthcare for residents of rural communities, skilled nursing facilities, and many more.

If Congress does not act before the COVID-19 public health emergency ends, the current flexibilities and allowances will disappear-leaving millions without access to telehealth. Therefore, 340 stakeholders have drafted and sent a letter to Congress explaining the urgent and necessary steps that need to be taken to ensure the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has the authority to make these telehealth allowances permanent.

These urgent actions include:
* Remove obsolete restrictions on the location of the patient to ensure that all patients can access care at home, and other appropriate locations
* Maintain and enhance HHS authority to determine appropriate providers and services for telehealth
* Ensure Federally Qualified Health Centers and Rural Health Clinics can furnish telehealth services after the public health emergency
* Make permanent Health and Human Services (HHS) temporary waiver authority for future emergencies.

It is imperative that CMS have the authority to expand access to telehealth based on data gathered from experience gained through the pandemic. Telehealth fulfilled a vital role allowing patients to be screened, evaluated, and to continue services and management throughout the pandemic. Patients deserve broad access to healthcare regardless of geographical restrictions or national emergencies.

Encounter Telehealth, LLC has joined 340 organizations such as the American Psychological Association, American Telemedicine Association, and the American Nurses Association in signing this letter. IDCC Health Services Launches New Telemedicine Service to Help with Urgent Need for Remote Medical Care in Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, N.Y. /ScoopCloud/ -- With many medical practices remaining closed, and thousands of families in quarantine due to the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), it has become difficult for many in the New York community to access providers for their medical needs. This comes at an unprecedented time when concerns about the effects of COVID-19 have created a surge in the need for medical care, both for possible symptoms associated with the virus, as well as the treatment of daily medical needs.

At the same time, people are afraid to go to the doctor for care. In response to this crisis, IDCC Health Services, a multi-specialty clinic in Brooklyn, is now offering telemedicine services for those who want to speak with doctors and healthcare professionals by phone or video from the comfort, safety, and privacy of their own home.

IDCC Health Services, which has locations in Coney Island and Bensonhurst, is well known in the Brooklyn community for its top-rated physicians, including Medical Director Dr. Igor Zakharov, a consummate primary care physician. As the current situation makes it difficult for many to leave their homes safely, IDCC Health has worked to create an infrastructure of services that allows those in need to speak with doctors via phone and video. These telemedicine services offer the community the medical care they are urgently looking for without having to leave their home.

"We are living in unprecedented times now. The fact that many cannot get in touch with their doctor at a time like this is alarming and that is why IDCC Health is offering our telemedicine services to the greater community. Whether you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or if you have any other medical questions, we want to be there for you and easily accessible," says IDCC Health Services CEO, Dr. Stephen Gersten.

Telehealth appointments can be easily scheduled by calling one of the IDCC Health facilities listed below:

Coney Island 718- 259-6600
Bensonhurst 718-621-1811

As with all IDCC Health services, Medicaid, Medicare, and most insurances are accepted.

IDCC Health is a multi-specialty medical center that offers a full range of services including Primary Care, Physical Therapy, Gastroenterology, Urology, Internal Medicine, Gynecology, and Cardiology.

AOSMI remains open for urgent care, offers telemedicine visits during COVID-19 pandemic

FREEHOLD, N.J. /ScoopCloud/ -- Advanced Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Institute (AOSMI) is keeping its practice open and continuing to see patients with urgent and acute injuries, while following CDC recommendations for preventing exposure to the COVID-19 virus.

Additionally, it is offering telemedicine visits for patients, who can conduct the visits through their desktop computers or cellphones.
* The practice has taken the following measures to keep patients, staff and visitors safe:
* All patients are prescreened for COVID-19 symptoms before an appointment is scheduled and before entering the office.
* AOSMI has cancelled all its scheduled elective surgeries and rescheduled them for a later date.
* AOSMI surgeons are still performing emergency procedures and surgeries for patients who require them.
* No visitors are allowed to accompany patients in the office unless required medically or for pediatric patients and in those circumstances, only one visitor will be allowed.

* AOSMI physicians and clinical staff are all practicing universal precautions by wearing masks and using gloves to maintain the safety of their staff and patients.
* Each area is cleaned and disinfected after every patient visit.

In efforts to help keep employees on the payroll and limit the number of furloughed employees and layoffs, AOSMI physician partners are foregoing pay, while its entire professional medical staff has taken large reductions to help with the organizational needs.

Anti-Psychotic Drug Reduction in Skilled Nursing Facilities Through Telepsychiatry

OMAHA, Neb. /ScoopCloud/ -- An Encounter Telehealth analysis of 40 skilled nursing facility partners in Iowa revealed a 6.7% reduction in the use of anti-psychotics. This reduction occurred after an average of 14 months of partnering with Encounter on psychiatric care. The national average was less than a 4% reduction during the same period.

The analysis shows the percentage of anti-psychotic drug use among facilities in 2015, prior to working with Encounter, and in 2018.

The data comes from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and can be accessed on CMS Nursing Home Compare: https://www.medicare.gov/nursinghomecompare/search.html

Of the 443 nursing homes in Iowa, the 40 facilities that Encounter Telehealth partners with have shown an average 6.7% reduction in the use of anti-psychotics between 2015 and 2018. Some facilities have shown substantial reductions, including one facility that went from 28.6% in 2015 to a low 7.3% in 2018. That is a 21.3% decrease in the usage of anti-psychotics, and nearly one half of the current national average. Encounter Telehealth's partner facilities in Iowa had an average 12.1% of residents on anti-psychotic medications as of 2018, which is 2.4% below the average of total Iowa nursing homes.

CMS estimates that only a small fraction of long-term residents will ever have a condition warranting the use of anti-psychotics, however they are repeatedly over-prescribed and at a great price. Facilities that do not show a reduction in anti-psychotic medication distribution can be penalized with a maximum 2% Medicare reduction. However, facilities that prove a reduction in their use of anti-psychotics are eligible of a maximum bonus of 1.6% Medicare payouts.

Through Encounter Telehealth, patients receive evaluations and psychiatric medication management services by Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners. This ensures proper diagnoses and medication management from the convenience of the facility. Encounter also offers talk therapy, which has been proven to be beneficial to patients with dementia and cognitive decline. In addition, Encounter provides staff training. Proper staff training can ensure quality healthcare and safety for everyone. When staff is trained to use alternative, non-pharmacological interventions, studies have shown statistical benefits in patients with dementia.

Encounter Telehealth provides behavioral mental healthcare in long term communities. At Encounter, our providers are focused on administering compassionate, consistent, and quality care.

Rural Iowa Veterans Gain Better Medical Access Through New Telemedicine Partnership

OSCEOLA, Iowa /ScoopCloud/ -- Clarke County Hospital in Osceola, Iowa and the Veterans Administration in Des Moines recently partnered in a telemedicine exchange offering a rural Veteran a much-needed cardiology consultation. While telemedicine services are not unique to Clarke County Hospital nor the V.A. - both of whom have offered the services for almost a decade each - a new collaboration between the two organizations offers potentially life-saving opportunities for rural veterans needing access to V.A. consultations and diagnostics.

Through Clarke County Hospital's outpatient clinic, patients in south-central Iowa and surrounding communities now have access to V.A. telemed services that before were only available through central Iowa, metro V.A. locations. These metro-based consultations often required patients to drive or to be transported for hours each way for important, sometimes life-saving, diagnostics.

With their first co-op telemed visit in June, the V.A., Clarke County Hospital, and the ailing Veteran were able to complete a cardiology session within a fraction of the travel and time previously needed for such a visit.

Brian Evans, Clarke County Hospital's CEO said, "CCH is the first Critical Access Hospital in Iowa to partner with the VA through Telemed Services. We are very excited about this new service opportunity because it allows these patients to be able to stay closer to home for visits."

Clarke County Hospital has committed to offering Cardiology telemed visits at this time and look to add other VA providers in the future.

Telemedicine services through Clarke County Hospital are currently available Monday-Friday in their newly remodeled Outpatient Clinic at 800 S. Fillmore, Osceola, IA 50213.

For more information about the Clarke County Hospital Telemedicine services, contact Ashley Davis, RN BSN, Patient Care Coordinator / Telemedicine at 641-342-5333 or Dennis Blazek, IT Manager at 641-342-5393.

Healthcare Tech Outlook Names Delta Care Rx a Top 10 Pharmacy Management Solution Provider

FREMONT, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- Delta Care Rx, a leading pharmaceutical innovator in end of life care, has been named one of the "Top 10 Pharmacy Management Solution Providers of 2018," according to Healthcare Tech Outlook, a digital and print magazine publication of Valley Media, Inc.

The "Top 10" award was published online March 27, as well as in a Special Issue print edition on April 5, with Delta Care Rx Founder, President, and COO Drew Mihalyo on its cover. Mihalyo, known for his commitment to technological innovation providing unique programs for hospice customers exclusively offered by Delta Care Rx, is quick to share the credit for the company's success.

"This recognition is a testament to the strength and commitment of the entire Delta Care Rx team," says Mihalyo. "We work together, both within Delta and with our integration partners, to ensure prompt attention and great sensitivity to meet each patient's needs related to pain and symptom management."

The in-depth feature article, "Delta Care Rx: Enhancing the End of Life Care Experience," states that the company "sets the industry benchmark in pharmaceutical benefits management in end of life care," fulfilling its mission of transparency and commitment to quality of care at every level of the organization. In addition to providing benefit management or mail order pharmacy to clients, Delta Care Rx offers a range of cutting edge telemedicine solutions designed to simplify workflow and ordering processes and improve quality of care. The article places these within the context of the broader pharmaceutical and end of life care industries.

"We take pride in honoring Delta Care Rx for offering innovative solutions that are revolutionizing the way hospice and palliative care providers are served in the Pharmacy Management arena," said Alex D'Souza, managing editor of Healthcare Tech Outlook.
