Healthy Mobile Markets Launch in Broward County

DANIA BEACH, Fla. /ScoopCloud/ -- The City of Dania Beach Community Redevelopment Agency is proud to announce that the Dania Beach People's Access To Community Horticulture (PATCH) is preparing to launch five Mobile Market sites around Broward County. Known as a community market and garden, the Dania Beach PATCH is a resource for locally grown food. Now, the PATCH is extending healthy food options to neighboring cities in Broward County through the use of mobile markets.

The Mobile Markets are a component of the FARMERS MARKET AND LOCAL FOOD PROMOTION PROGRAM (FMLFPP) Grant from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) that was awarded to Dania Beach in October 2017.

A launch party is scheduled for December 13, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Dania Beach PATCH. The guest list includes officials from participating municipalities, stakeholders, supporters and customers. Food Education demonstrations featuring Chef Chad Cherry from Refresh Live will be part of the launch and will offer Chef Demonstrations at the Pilot Mobile Markets.

The Mobile Market Pilot program will begin in January 2019. A permanent schedule will begin in February 2019. The mobile markets will serve the Broward Municipal Services District (BMSD); Fort Lauderdale, Hallandale Beach, and North Lauderdale. These sites are part of a pilot program to determine the best locations for permanent mobile markets designed to achieve the goals of providing affordable, locally grown produce to all in Broward County.

A partnership with FRESH ACCESS BUCKS through FEEDING FLORIDA, will provide incentives on Florida grown produce to EBT/SNAP participants. Another facet of the program is to connect small growers to markets to promote, strengthen, and build local grower's production and distribution.

The PATCH Farm and Market is located at 1201 W. Dania Beach Boulevard, Dania Beach, FL. The PATCH was created as an environmentally and economically sustainable urban farming system within the community, that creates a network of secure healthy food sources of naturally grown vegetables and fruits, while providing local jobs and vocational training in the sustainable agricultural industry to the residents of the community. Entertainment Line-Up: Jaded Aerosmith and Deep Fried Funk Join the Dania Beach Arts and Seafood 6th Annual Celebration

DANIA BEACH, Fla. /ScoopCloud/ -- Tribute band Jaded Aerosmith will light up the stage on Saturday, May 19 followed by a captivating performance by R&B band Deep Fried Funk on Sunday, May 20 at the 6th Annual Dania Beach Arts and Seafood Celebration. The 2018 lineup features an electrifying cast of performers and a diverse range of acts, including Classic Rock Therapy, Whipping Post and Latin group Catabella to name a few.

This event is the perfect getaway for music aficionados who prefer to "experience" live music and interact with artists amidst beautiful South Florida weather.

Jaded Aerosmith began one day in early February 2015 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida as a bright idea by Guitarist Pete Lauria (Brad Whitford) after noticing that his main street band singer and fellow transplanted Bostonian Tommy Braga really loved imitating Steven Tyler during their shows.

With the lineup set, the band quickly devised a set list that encompassed enough of the 45-year history of AEROSMITH to be representative of the actual experience of seeing the band live on any given night. Jaded Aerosmith hits the stage at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.

"We have, through the study of the music being reproduced, discovered a genuine love for this first truly American Rock and Blues answer to The British Invasion's Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin, and feel that shines through in each of our performances. Most importantly, we are about having a good time with good music and good friends," states Braga.

One of the most sought after Drummers of this Generation deftly playing any genre, David "Jody" Hill is the C.E.O. and founder of his band Deep Fried Funk. Jody has earned himself 3 Grammy nominations with Joss Stone for the album "Mind, Body & Soul" and has had numerous television appearances. Dania Beach CRA Issues RFQ for Real Estate Developer for Downtown City Center

DANIA BEACH, Fla. /ScoopCloud/ -- The Dania Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (DBCRA) invites interested parties to participate in a public private partnership and submit qualifications (RFQ) for the redevelopment of property known as the Dania Beach City Center. This 4.5-acre site is owned by the City of Dania Beach.

A primary focus of the DBCRA has been to create a vibrant mixed-use center in the downtown that will serve as an activated central gathering place for residents and visitors alike. Redevelopment of the site should include a new City Hall Facility and a Park/Open Space that incorporates sustainable elements, as well as market rate, multi-family housing.

The City of Dania Beach is experiencing revitalization in both the immediate downtown area and the surrounding area. Multiple hotels and residential units are under construction and less than one mile from the City Center site is Dania Pointe, a $900 Million mixed-use project currently under construction.

The City Center site is conveniently located near I-95, Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport, Port Everglades, and the Casino at Dania Beach. The CRA is also working on downtown redevelopment projects which include a multi-million dollar streetscape improvement project to enhance the City Center.

The City Center Site has great potential to become a transit-oriented mixed-use development due to its close proximity to the Florida East Coast ("FEC") railway and to the proposed Tri-Rail Coastal Link commuter rail system and station. The new mixed-use "City Center" will include retail, office and residential uses, and should incorporate the City parking garage structure that was constructed and completed in 2011.
