Black Chamber of Arizona Kicks Off Third Impact AZ 2025 Cohort With $100K in Scholarships

Program helps under-served entrepreneurs scale businesses, build capacity and fuel economic growth across the state

PHOENIX, Ariz., July 2, 2025 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — The Black Chamber of Arizona, in partnership with the Millionaire Mastermind Academy, will kick off the third cohort of its signature Impact AZ 2025 business accelerator with a full-day launch event Tuesday, July 8, at the Better Business Bureau Innovation & Event Hub Center in Phoenix.

The nine-month program is designed to help small business owners scale, build operational capacity and access supplier diversity opportunities. This year, 23 diverse entrepreneurs will participate at no cost thanks to $100,000 in scholarships funded by corporate sponsors.

Bank of America serves as the title sponsor for the 2025 cohort. Additional sponsors include Bell Bank, Cox Communications, Aventiv Technologies, Blue Cross Blue Shield, National Bank of Arizona and the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

Impact AZ 2025 serves a broad group of diverse business owners, including veterans, women-owned firms, justice-impacted entrepreneurs and businesses generating $100,000 or less in annual revenue. The program offers more than 40 courses, one-on-one mentorship and access to a proprietary mobile app, providing on-demand training in procurement, capital access, strategic planning and business scaling.

Since its inception in 2022, Impact AZ has graduated 75 entrepreneurs, many of whom have scaled into employer firms. Collectively, program alumni have generated more than $5 million in contract revenue. The program reports a 95% success rate among participants.

In recognition of its statewide impact, Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs officially proclaimed Impact AZ 2025 the largest supplier diversity initiative in the state.

With the goal of closing the racial wealth gap for business owners through supplier diversity readiness, IMPACT AZ 2025 launched in April with its first cohort of more than 50 business owners across the valley.

The matchmaking event connected diverse business owners with public and private supplier decision-makers, including the City of Phoenix, the City of Scottsdale, APS, JPMorgan Chase & Co., SRP and Via West Group, with opportunities from the construction and facilities maintenance, finance and insurance, transportation, manufacturing and professional services industries.

Dwight Warren, executive director and market manager of Government and Not-for-Profit Banking at JPMorgan Chase, kicked off the special event. In addition, Dr. Velma Trayham, founder of the Millionaire Mastermind Academy and creator of IMPACT AZ, and Robin Reed, CEO of the Black Chamber of Commerce of Arizona, welcomed attendees and shared perspectives on the importance of greater supplier diversity.

"Arizona's largest supplier diversity readiness accelerator is already making significant progress towards our goal of advancing more than 250 diverse businesses past the $1 million threshold," said Dr. Trayham. The solutions-driven accelerator program is expanding procurement opportunities with corporations and government entities. Fortune 500 companies spend about 2% annually on minority-owned suppliers, well short of the 10% to 15% spending goals many corporations establish.

The program offers a hybrid of an online curriculum through an interactive e-learning platform with in-person sessions, mentorship and live business coaching. Additionally, business owners a strategic action growth plan with benchmarks and performance targets to access the support and resources necessary to win contracts. The first cohort launches April 24, 2023, in Scottsdale, Arizona, with a full-day business assessment and welcome remarks from major community stakeholders.

The Millionaire Mastermind Academy, a leading nonprofit organization that has helped more than 8,000 diverse women entrepreneurs across the country while addressing barriers to economic mobility, will execute the Impact AZ 2025 programming in partnership with the Black Chamber of Arizona in response to the State of Black Business Report, which highlighted financial gaps and opportunities for diverse business owners.

The solutions-driven accelerator program will expand procurement opportunities with corporations and government entities, preparing business owners to win contracts. By 2025, the initiative aims to expose more than 25,000 individuals to entrepreneurship opportunity and education, a minimum of 50 businesses awarded contracts with companies for supplier diversity while empowering more than 200 new businesses to launch and more than 500 established businesses to grow their employee base. IMPACT AZ 2025 is targeting the food service, real estate, beauty/fashion, technology, professional services, retail and trade, and manufacturing industries.
