"The addition of Big Savings to our Premier Insurance Services family continues to make Premier the fastest growing agency in California serving the Latino Marketplace," said Paul Areida, CEO of Protector Holdings. "We now have a total of 47 locations across California and the West, including Modesto, Salinas and Turlock, which are new cities for Premier."

Big Savings has been in business for more than 10 years and was founded by principals Sunny Singh and Donald Singh, who will remain active in the ongoing operations of Premier Insurance Services.

Their addition is an important step in taking our vision and services to an even higher level."

Attorney David L. Goldman Warns Consumers of Costly Unforeseen Coverage Gaps

SARASOTA, Fla. /ScoopCloud/ -- Personal Injury and Civil Trial Lawyer David L. Goldman of the Sarasota Florida Based Firm Shapiro Goldman Babboni & Walsh, cites an article in the NY Times warning consumers of large coverage gaps even in premium insurance plans.

Goldman, an experienced injury attorney stated, "The issue of whether one's medical bills were paid by their insurance company comes up more often than I can count. In more than a quarter century of practicing personal injury law in the State of Florida, I have seen people who have excellent insurance mistakenly believe that their insurance company has paid their bill in full. Even people who have 'full coverage' with excellent insurance policies do not realize that their insurance companies leave them with outstanding balances that are well in excess of their deductible or co-pay amounts.

"For instance in auto accident cases, the no-fault insurance company will often pay only 80 percent of their bills up to $10,000, leaving a balance of 20 percent plus any amount of their bills above $10,000. Often times health insurance companies, will not cover a particular doctor or treatment, or will deny payment due to alleged errors in how the medical provider submitted their bill, leaving the poor insured owing the money. Often times, the attorney can resolve these issues, but too often they cannot."

Mr. Goldman continued to point out the potential for costly coverage short-falls by stating, "This article discusses how insurance companies will pay a hospital bill but may not pay the other bills associated with a hospital visit, which can include the emergency room doctors' bill, the radiology bill, and the ambulance bill. Sometimes these other providers do not even bother to submit their bill to your insurance company and simply send the patient the bill.

"This article discusses one such instance that occurred right here in Florida. So it is best to make sure to realize that there may be many other bills associated with a hospital visit other than the hospital bill and to realize that even the best insurance companies often leave patients owing a lot more than just their deductible and co-pay."

About Attorney David L. Goldman:

Mr. Goldman is a member of the American Association of Justice, The Association of Trial Lawyers of America, and the Southern Trial Lawyers Association. Mr. Goldman is an Eagle Member of the Florida Justice Association and The Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers, and received the prestigious Legislative Leadership Award by that organization in 1997.

David Goldman has a long-standing commitment to the community and has served as a board member of many civic organizations. He has worked extensively with the Gulf Coast Latin Chamber of Commerce, the Sarasota African-American Chamber of Commerce, Second Chance Last Opportunity and the Westcoast Center for Human Development. ACSIA Partners Seeks 150 New Agents to Serve Growing Segments of Its Long-Term Care Planning Business

KIRKLAND, Wash. /ScoopCloud/ -- The long-term care insurance market seems to be in turmoil thanks to rate increases, waning consumer demand, and carriers exiting the business. Pessimism prevails, but not for ACSIA Partners, one of America's largest long-term care insurance agencies. The company is quite bullish, in fact. "We're looking for 150 new agents," says Denise Gott, CEO. "We need them right now to handle current need and projected demand." What's going on?

The company is not immune to the industry turmoil. "Our traditional business, individual LTC insurance, has temporarily levelled off," she says, "but it's still substantial and continuing; and two new segments are surging: hybrid care solutions and worksite plans."

Hybrid solutions are annuities or life insurance policies with long-term care riders. They are based on tangible assets that may be tapped to pay for care when needed. This has several advantages that make them attractive buys:
* Premiums can never increase.
* Benefits cannot change.
* Funds not used for long-term care go to beneficiaries tax-free.

Also, "It's easy to add a care rider to instruments the client needs anyway, like a life policy or annuity," says Gott.

Worksite plans are group or multi-life plans that offer long-term care protection as an employee benefit. "They're in demand because they appeal to both the company and the employee," says Gott.
* The plans bolster employee effectiveness and earning power. In the absence of LTC plans, long term care issues cost American industry $29 billion annually in lost productivity, according to a study by the MetLife Mature Market Institute. And employees jeopardize their income when they have to assume care duties.
* The plans offer multiple tax benefits. Premiums can be 100% tax-deductible to a business. For employees, premiums are not considered income, and the benefits received are generally tax-free.
* Economies of scale simplify everything. For example, there is relaxed health screening; and group rates keep premium costs down.

"Advantages like these make worksite LTC a no-brainer," says Gott. "And we think it could become as common as group healthcare, which has become the norm for most employers."

"Overall, for businesses as well as families, the need for LTC solutions is enormous," says Gott. "That's why we're so bullish."

Also, Gott predicts that the traditional LTC insurance business will start growing again fairly soon. "There are products out there, already developed, but sitting on carriers' shelves because the near-zero interest rate environment makes them uneconomic. As soon as interest rates start going up again, it's a whole new ballgame."

"So we're looking for 150 senior solutions agents to join us in serving this large and growing market." Information for candidates is available at https://www.acsiapartners.com/career-center/.

For employers interested in group protection for their employees, information is available at https://www.acsiapartners.com/business-owners/.

Information for consumers is available at https://www.acsiapartners.com/consumers/.

About ACSIA Partners LLC:

ACSIA Partners LLC -- https://www.acsiapartners.com -- serves organizations as well as families in all states. The company is also a co-founder and sponsor of the "3in4 Need More" campaign, which encourages Americans to form a long-term care plan.

The long-term care insurance market seems to be in turmoil thanks to rate increases, waning consumer demand, and carriers exiting the business. Pessimism prevails, but not for ACSIA Partners, one of America's largest long-term care insurance agencies.

EPIC’s Inland Empire Team Supports the Local Community in a Big Way

casualty insurance brokerage

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., May 10, 2016 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- EPIC Insurance Brokers and Consultants (EPIC), a retail property, casualty insurance brokerage and employee benefits consultant, today announced details of community support provided by their Inland Empire division.

Led by managing principal Dan Ryan and principals David McNeil and Joe Cotugna, EPIC's Inland Empire team has historically been very active in the surrounding community, supporting a variety of non-profit and community service organizations.

The Joyful Child Foundation has been one of the most significant beneficiaries. For the past two years, EPIC has been the title sponsor of a golf tournament directly benefiting the Foundation, which is dedicated to protecting children from predators and molesters.

In 2015, the "EPIC Invitational Golf Tournament" raised approximately $28,000 for the Joyful Child Foundation. This year's tournament, held on March 25, 2016, generated an additional $40,477 - for a two year total of nearly $70,000.

Said Dan Ryan, "We have seen the visible impact of our efforts around our community in advertising for the Foundation as well as their increased communications with sponsors and those they serve, including a new newsletter."

Erin D. Runnion, Founder of The Joyful Child Foundation shared: "The Joyful Child Foundation - In Memory of Samantha Runnion is excited to have the opportunity to bring our BRAVE Programs to the Inland Empire, thanks to the generosity of EPIC Insurance Brokers. Last year's gift provided training to community partner agencies that serve hundreds of disadvantaged children and we are delighted to have a Master Trainer in the area offering monthly programs at Operation Safe House and establish classes with the City of Riverside's Youth Programs. EPIC's support made it possible for The Joyful Child to receive a letter of intent to bring the BRAVE Curriculum to Riverside Unified School District, so that we can train teachers to deliver our age-appropriate safety education in every classroom. It takes a community to keep our children safe and EPIC is leading the way to empower every child to be brave and safe."

EPIC principal Joe Cotugna added, "We are proud and honored to be able to make such an impact in our community in support of an important organization like The Joyful Child Foundation."

EPIC employees are very active in their communities on both an individual basis and in teams. COMMUNITY is one of EPIC's 10 guiding principles, collectively known as "EPICness." Learn more: http://www.epicbrokers.com/epicness/#tabs

"We believe strongly in giving back and making a positive difference," said EPIC principal David McNeil. "It is an integral part of EPIC's 'people first' culture and values."

Pick Your Long-Term Care Agent Carefully, Advises ACSIA Partners

long term care agency

KIRKLAND, Wash., May 9, 2016 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- The best way to buy long-term care insurance is through an independent agent, according to many experts. But agents vary. How do you pick a professional who is right for you? "We recommend asking six key questions," says Denise Gott, CEO of ACSIA Partners, one of America's largest long-term care insurance agencies.

The questions are:

1. Do you offer any solutions other than long-term care insurance? Today LTC insurance isn't the only way to cover long-term care expenses. Popular alternatives include critical illness insurance, annuities, and life insurance with LTC riders. "Unless you're absolutely sure LTC insurance is what you need," says Gott, "your best bet may be dealing with someone who offers other choices as well. For example, what if it turns out you don't qualify for LTC insurance?"

2. Where are you licensed? LTC agents must be certified by every state in which they conduct business. "Be sure you pick someone who's licensed and covers your area," Gott says. "Also, probe the scope of the agent's practice. Many of the more experienced agents are certified in two, three, or more states. Multiple state certifications may be a sign of a person's experience, but some single-state agents build very large clienteles close to home and may be equally experienced."

3. What insurance carriers do you represent? "If the agent mentions just one carrier, beware," says Gott. "Your best bet is someone who represents several companies offering a range of policy options. The idea is to compare alternative plans and find the one with the features you want at a cost you can afford."

4. Do you receive higher commissions on some LTC policies than on others? "The best answer is no," says Gott. "Some agencies, including ours, have a procedure for equalizing commission income. This ensures that agents get the same commission rate no matter what policy you buy. There's no temptation for them to push a high-profit item."

5. Can you advise me on tax breaks and other financial ramifications of long-term care insurance? "A qualified answer is best here," says Gott. "Experienced agents know about the relevant regulations, but don't pretend to be experts in tax law or estate planning. Instead, they defer to (and often work with) financial advisors, accountants, estate planners, and attorneys."

6. How can I learn more about you? "The aim of this question is to uncover the agent's reputation," says Gott. "Can they name professionals who recommend them? Have they been written up online or in the newspaper? Are they scheduled to speak at an upcoming event? Can they be found on the Internet? Can they give you references?"

Gott's organization has over 300 state-certified long-term care agents in all parts of the country. All are glad to answer the above questions and any others.

ACSIA Partners LLC -- http://www.acsiapartners.com/ -- is one of America's largest and most experienced long-term care insurance agencies serving families and organizations in all states. The company is also a co-founder and sponsor of the "3in4 Need More" campaign, which encourages Americans to form a long-term care plan.

Do-It-Yourself Long-Term Care Can Have High Hidden Costs, According to ACSIA Partners

long term care insurance

KIRKLAND, Wash., April 21, 2016 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Rate increases by some long-term care insurance carriers should not scare people off, according to Denise Gott. "Even if a particular policy's premium seems high," she says, "it may be a bargain compared to the alternative, family caregiving." Gott is CEO of ACSIA Partners, one of the nation's largest long-term care insurance agencies.

"Family caregiving has three hidden costs, which can be significant," says Gott.

1. Lost Income. According to the Long Term Care Financing Collaborative, women in their 50s who leave their jobs to care for aging parents lose $300,000 in lifetime income, on average.

Losses can vary. For example, at age 57 Amy left an $85,000-a-year job to care for her father at home for three years. That's $255,000 in lost salary plus thousands more in lost Social Security benefits. In addition, during those three "idle" years, Amy may have become less employable, losing out on tens to hundreds of thousands more.

2. Increased Health Risks. Family caregivers often expose themselves to injury and illness from the physical stresses of handling a loved one, and from the psychological stresses of tending them endlessly. A recent study by the Alzheimer's Association found that family caregivers are 28 percent more likely to go hungry or eat less. Twenty percent said they sacrificed their own medical care by cutting down on doctor's visits.

In a study by the Center on Aging, 10 percent of caregivers said their own health declined due to their efforts. This translated into higher healthcare costs for them, and was especially acute for those who lost their health insurance when they left their jobs.

3. Lost Retirement Assets and Less Investment in the Family. In the Alzheimer's Association study, 13 percent of caregivers said they tapped their savings or retirement assets to help provide care, and many sold personal items such as a car. Eleven percent said they cut back on their children's education.

In a study by the National Alliance for Caregiving and Evercare, 47 percent of working caregivers reported using up all or most of their savings while giving care.

What's the current cost of insurance? According to the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, typical policies range from $960 to $2,035 per year for a male age 55; and from $960 to $2,580 per year for a female age 55.

"This may not seem out of line compared to do-it-yourself care," says Gott, "especially if professional care is also needed as the loved one deteriorates." The annual median cost of a semi-private room in a nursing home is $80,300, according to Genworth Financial, Inc.

According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, nearly 70 percent of those 65 or older will need long-term care at some point; and the federal government recommends long-term care insurance for those who can afford it.

Gott agrees. "LTC insurance can provide valuable protection, but it's not for everyone," she says. "Wealthy individuals can self-insure. And those without means may qualify for long-term care from Medicaid." (Medicare does not cover most long-term care services, contrary to common belief.)

"Those who could benefit from LTC insurance owe it to themselves to look into the costs and benefits," she advises. "It only takes a minute to get started. Just go to our website and request a quote. You may also talk with an expert." Her organization has over 300 long-term care specialists in all parts of the country.

About ACSIA Partners:

ACSIA Partners LLC -- http://www.acsiapartners.com -- is one of America's largest and most experienced long-term care insurance agencies serving families and organizations in all states. The company is also a co-founder and sponsor of the "3in4 Need More" campaign, which encourages Americans to form a long-term care plan.

Florida Justice Association Blocks Insurance Lobby Attacks On Consumer Rights

Bernard F. Walsh

BRADENTON, Fla., April 15, 2016 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Bradenton personal injury lawyer, and Florida Justice Association board member, Bernard F. Walsh took note of the successful effort by Florida Justice Association members to block extreme reduction in personal injury claim awards.

The two bills, Senate Bill 1474, proposed by republican Senator Garrett Richter of Naples serving Florida District 23, and House Bill 1271 proposed by Republican Representative Jay Fant serving Florida District 15, sought to severely limit the amount of damages an injured party can be awarded in a personal injury case.

Both SB 1474 and HB 1271 similarly attempted to limit personal injury compensation amounts to the amount paid to the medical provider under the medical providers original bill. Both SB 1474 and HB 1271 had additions that explicitly stated any amount that differs from the amount remitted to the provider would not be recoverable in a personal injury case. Additionally, both bills included sections on injured parties who were insured by either Medicare or Medicaid further restricting the amount that can be awarded by a jury to an injured claimant in a personal injury law suit.

However, HB 1271 went beyond just severely limiting the amount of damages that may be awarded to an injured claimant by attempting make inadmissible any individual contract between a medical service provider and licensed insurance provider. This would have the effect of making it more difficult for plaintiffs attorneys to prove liability or bring to light other pertinent information vital to a personal injury claim.

Attorney Bernard F. Walsh, Florida Justice Association Board Member and Founder of the Manasota Trial Lawyers Board had this comment on the recent legislative session, "If HB 1271 or SB 1474 had managed to pass, it would have been a devastating blow to the rights of Florida's citizens. As a personal injury attorney I have witnessed first hand how serious injuries from accidents have life changing effects on the injured and their families. Under these bills, it would be completely unrealistic to assume that someone who has suffered multiple serious injuries such as TBI, spinal cord injury, or other trauma, would be adequately compensated for their injuries, never mind the loss of income, pain and suffering, and overall reduction in the victims quality of life. Thanks to the FJA's tireless efforts, no legislation has passed that significantly hurt the consumer and accident victims in Florida. I am looking forward to working with the FJA on the next legislative session."

About Attorney Bernard F. Walsh:

A highly experienced AV rated attorney and founder of the Manasota Trial Lawyers Board, Bernard Walsh is an active member in multiple legal organizations including the Association of Plaintiff Interstate Trucking Lawyers of America (APITLA), the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, the Florida Justice Association, the National Trial Lawyers Association and the National Association of Distinguished Counsel.

Bernard Walsh is an active member of the Manatee and Sarasota Sheriff's Advisory Boards, the Florida Highway Patrol Advisory Council and the One Hundred Club for Law Enforcement in Manatee.

Partner at the Personal Injury and Civil Trial Law firm of Shapiro, Goldman, Babboni and Walsh, Bernard Walsh has helped hundreds of Floridians get fair compensation for injuries. Additionally, Bernard Walsh has won one of Florida's largest motorcycle accident recoveries and has an AV Preeminent® rating on Martindale-Hubbel®, a doctors and attorneys ratings website and is a Superb rated attorney with Avvo.com.

"While there is much work to be done, the report validates LIBERTY's solution-based participation and experience in the Medi-Cal program. We look forward to continuing our work with the DHCS in administering and implementing the quality initiatives that we already have in place, validating many of the Commission's recommendations."

LIBERTY is a leading National Medicaid Dental Benefit manager based in California, including hundreds of resident team members that have a unique national expertise in several different aspects of Medicaid Dental programs. LIBERTY's provider reimbursement model, fee-for-service, combined with the basic principles of traditional organized delivery systems, is a member-centric solution managed by 21st century technology.

In fact, the Little Hoover Commission Report validates LIBERTY's best practices. For example, the Commission's recommendation to expand the concepts of Washington State's Access to Baby and Child Dentistry (ABCD) Program and Alameda County's Healthy Kids, Healthy Teeth Program to more regions aligns with what LIBERTY is doing. LIBERTY has already implemented a Provider Training program for GMC in Sacramento that is akin to the ABCD Program and, like the Alameda County program, LIBERTY has, over the past decade administered a comprehensive coordination of care, systematic care management program through its Case Managers and Community Liaisons. Care management is a key component of several of the Commission's recommendations that focus on preventive care.

The Commission also recommends that more Pediatricians be recruited and trained to apply fluoride treatment; proactively and as an industry leader, LIBERTY is already funding and collaborating with the Center for Oral Health and the SynerMed Medical IPA to train Pediatricians to apply fluoride varnish to children, educate parents about the importance of oral health and refer these children to a dental professional for follow-up as part of a well-child visit strategy. The goal is to bring every child into the continuum of care while establishing a seamless connection between medical and dental professionals.

Of course, a key component to success is in the Commission's recommendation to implement a customer-focused program and improve relationships with dental providers. LIBERTY has been fully engaged with its providers and members for years, as they know that effective care is always local and personal. In fact, the LIBERTY Provider Relations team visits our providers' offices routinely, provides in-office training and is available as direct relationship managers, if and when the providers need them. This level of service contributes to the reason that several dentists surveyed rated LIBERTY as "excellent" and helped GMC achieve 100% growth in utilization from 2010-2014, including 250% for children ages 0-3.

Dr. Neshat stated that "With over a decade of Medi-Cal experience in California, as well as experience in varied Medicaid programs in several states across the country, we urge the oral health stakeholder community to responsibly review the Commission's recommendations, particularly recommendations that call for 66% utilization which, comparatively speaking, would be one of, if not the highest in the nation. Based upon our direct experience, we know that a gradual and sustainable increase in utilization, with consistent improvement, should be our collective goal and objective. Utilization has been and will be improved based upon continued and persistent member engagement."

The report mentioned in-depth the administrative burdens of dental providers signing up to participate in the Denti-Cal program. As a stark contrast, LIBERTY network providers are supported with a quick application process, which is online and only 5 pages, with 85% of providers credentialed within 30 days and 95% within 45 days. LIBERTY also offers other key components that the Commission recommends, including program field representatives, a live-person resource center for member and provider questions and resolution, provider referrals and fee-for-service reimbursement at the Denti-Cal fee schedule for primary care providers, and more for specialty services. This fee-for-service reimbursement means that LIBERTY does not pass on any financial risk to providers; assumes the administrative burden of credentialing; and pays claims in a quick and efficient manner. LIBERTY's local approach to provider relationship management is especially important in promoting access to safety net providers.

In LIBERTY's experience, non-traditional delivery mechanisms are absolute requirements in order to meet the demand for dental services in Medicaid. Therefore, LIBERTY has implemented school-based preventive programs, establishing virtual dental homes and has been collaborating with national experts in implementing other virtual dental programs.

Dr. Neshat added, "Our nationwide Medicaid experience includes engaging local providers in our peer review committees and engaging local stakeholders and advocacy groups in our regional advisory boards. We believe health care policies are best developed locally and should be combined with 21st century technology to ensure that tax payer dollars are spent appropriately on health care."

Mixed throughout the Commission's report is advocacy for fluoride varnish and dental sealants as "Key Tools of Preventive Care" and LIBERTY is at the forefront of providing these services, as well as sponsoring and participating in comprehensive School Based Oral Health Programs where fluoride varnish and dental sealants can be applied to children that might otherwise not receive these services. LIBERTY has demonstrated its commitment to re-orientation of the oral health care system by sponsoring oral health related symposiums, where national, as well as local, dental and community experts share innovative ideas and solutions.

LIBERTY recognizes that unnecessary pre-authorizations and other administrative burdens adversely affect the access to care beneficiaries need, and are very inefficient. LIBERTY's solution allows for real-time monitoring of claims, based on each provider's practice patterns. This allows for the beneficiaries to receive the care they need in a very timely manner and does not negatively impact all providers, for the actions of a few. Fraud, waste and abuse are blocked and tackled aggressively by the application of LIBERTY's data intelligence.

LIBERTY also applauds the Commission for recognizing that Dental Managed Care is a sustainable, preventive model that has worked in demographically-similar Texas and shown significant gains in the two of 58 California counties that have such a program. Dental Managed Care (DMC) plans guarantee timely access to care through contracted networks of providers, just like Covered California.

The Commission stated: "Though the Commission is not making recommendations to encourage the expansion of managed care within the state's Denti-Cal program, the emphasis on prevention now to save money later is impressive. It also stands in contrast to the state's current Denti-Cal fee-for-service system, which is stuck in a cycle of treating high-cost problems that it doesn't prevent."

"We look forward to working with all stakeholders and being accountable partners for improving access and quality of care for Denti-Cal families," said Dr. Neshat. "We consistently promote collaborative and innovative ways to connect our members to a dental home. We believe oral health is critical to overall health. We are committed to ensuring that every one of our members receives the care they need and providers are fully supported in helping their patients."

LIBERTY Dental Plan Advances Innovative Approach to Oral Health By Empowering Physicians to Provide Fluoride Varnish

Dental Disease Management

IRVINE, Calif., March 22, 2016 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- LIBERTY Dental Plan (LIBERTY) continues to innovate and be a champion for whole health by partnering with the Center for Oral Health and medical providers to create a program that will help increase the number of children receiving fluoride varnish - a critical treatment that helps prevent further dental issues later in life.

This Sacramento based program begins with a Continuing Medical Education (CME) training of physicians on how to apply the fluoride varnish. The first, of what is expected to be many more, training takes place today, March 22, 2016, at the Hyatt Regency Sacramento from 6 p.m. - 10 p.m.

This is believed to be the first time a Geographic Managed Care (GMC) Dental Plan has fully funded this type of program to address children's lack of oral health checkups - and treatment. LIBERTY Dental Plan has partnered with the Center for Oral Health and SynerMed, a leading Managed Service Organization, for this first training. Ultimately, the training schedule will be further developed with the goal of positively impacting 1,000 - 2,000 children in the first year.

"The future is now with trainings like these. Oral health is a vital part of whole health and Physicians will certainly benefit from the support of oral health experts to help respond to the needs of children's dental health, and to refer children to dentists and specialists who understand each family's whole health issues. We are proud to lead these collaborative relationships to improve the health of children," said Dr. Amir Neshat, LIBERTY's CEO and Founder.

By empowering physicians and pediatricians, LIBERTY Dental Plan is raising the bar for oral health through collaboration, innovation and patient-centered care.

Tax Tip from ACSIA Partners: 2016 Deductions Make Long-Term Care Insurance More Affordable for Many

long-term care insurance

KIRKLAND, Wash., March 17, 2016 (SEND2PRESSS NEWSWIRE) -- If you're in the market for long-term care insurance, you may be suffering from sticker shock. "The cost may seem out of reach," says Denise Gott. "Many people feel this way, so they put off protecting themselves. That's a shame, because in their case, Uncle Sam may pick up part of the tab." Gott is CEO of ACSIA Partners, one of the nation's largest long-term care insurance agencies.

Federal tax deductions for owning long-term care insurance range from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars, and they're higher than ever in 2016. "Not everyone qualifies," says Gott, "but everyone owes it to themselves to find out if they do and how big the deduction might be. For millions, the net policy cost will be at least a little less than the 'sticker price.'"

For the taxable year beginning in 2016, the limitations under Section 213(d)(10) of the IRS tax code, regarding eligible long-term care premiums includible in the term "medical care," are as follows:

Attained Age Before Close of Taxable Year / Limitation on Premiums:
* 40 or less: $390
* More than 40 but not more than 50: $730
* More than 50 but not more than 60 $1,460
* More than 60 but not more than 70: $3,900
* More than 70: $4,870.

The deductions recur every year that one pays long-term care premiums, and have been increasing annually.

"The idea is to encourage Americans to protect themselves," says Gott. "Unfortunately only about 10 percent of those who could benefit from a policy actually have one. The percentage should be much higher. We think it would be if the deductions were taken into account."

Greater public awareness is vitally needed, and Gott's company is doing what it can to spread the word. "We have over 150 long-term care specialists in all parts of the country. During tax season they're available to consult with anyone or their financial advisor by phone or in person."

About ACSIA Partners:

ACSIA Partners LLC -- http://www.acsiapartners.com -- is one of America's largest and most experienced long-term care insurance agencies serving all states. The company is also a co-founder and sponsor of the "3in4 Need More" campaign, which encourages Americans to form a long-term care plan.

Alternative-Risk Financing Roundtable: ‘Creative Uses for Captives’ Moderated by EPIC’s Daniel Houston

Dan Houston

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. and ATLANTA, Ga., March 16, 2016 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- In the world of risk management, captive insurers are taking on a major role for companies of all sizes. As the number and types of captive insurers are expanding, so too have the types of risks that captive owners are funding through these alternative-risk financing structures, says EPIC Insurance Brokers and Consultants. One area of increased interest is the use of healthcare captives by medium-size companies. This growth is the result of medical stop-loss since the Affordable Care Act precludes employers from limiting health care coverage in their benefit plans.

EPIC, a retail property and casualty insurance brokerage and employee benefits consultant, today announced that Dan Houston, EPIC's Senior Vice President of Enterprise Risk Management and Principal, will moderate a roundtable on these captive insurers topics, including what types of new coverages captives are insuring and other creative uses for these entities at the Business Insurance Risk Management Summit in New York on March 22, 2016.

H&R Block
* Steve Kinion
Director, Bureau of Captive and Financial Insurance Products

Ascende Wealth Advisers, Inc. named a top 100 retirement plan adviser team for third year in a row

Ascende an EPIC Company

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. and HOUSTON, Texas, March 10, 2016 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- For the third time in a row, Ascende Wealth Advisers, Inc. (AWAI) has been named one of PLANADVISER'S Top 100 Adviser Teams in America. Nominated by several clients, vendors and peers, AWAI now qualifies for the PLANSPONSOR Retirement Plan Adviser Team of the Year award - a prestigious recognition the team almost brought home in 2014 when placing as a finalist just three years into AWAI's existence.

"It's an incredible honor to be nominated three years in a row. It really is a testament to how hard this team works," said Rob Massa, Ascende - an EPIC Company Retirement Director. "It's a wonderful achievement to have our clients nominate us, but it also justifies everything we've been working toward the last three years-talking about fiduciary best practices and creating solutions that lead to participants' success."

To be considered, small teams had to advise more than $2 billion in retirement plan assets or more than 100 plans; large teams needed more than $3 billion in retirement plan AUA or more than 170 plans. AWAI has quickly earned its place among a list of elite retirement plan advisers. The team now manages $3.2 billion in assets-an incredible achievement for any investment advisory firm, especially one formed as recently as 2011.

Rob Massa and his team will be recognized at the PLANSPONSOR/PLANADVISER Awards for Excellence in New York on March 31, 2016. This is an annual networking event celebrating the country's top plan sponsors, retirement plan advisers and industry providers. "We are very pleased with the well-deserved recognition that Rob and his team have received and we are looking forward to growing our retirement advisory practice at EPIC with them," said Chris Duncan, Chief Growth Officer for EPIC.

AWAI is a wholly owned subsidiary of Ascende - an EPIC Company and was created to provide independence, protection and results to retirement plan sponsors and committees by fulfilling their fiduciary obligations with respect to plan investment selection, monitoring, oversight and compliance.

Launched in 2006, PLANADVISER is the only magazine to address the specific needs and concerns of advisers who specialize in institutional retirement plans, including 401(k) and defined benefit plans. PLANSPONSOR, a sister magazine, helps plan sponsors stay informed on crucial issues and innovative solutions.
