HotDeals Releases 2026 Mid-Year Savings Report Highlighting Accelerating Coupon Activity Across Global Markets

Internal platform data shows savings activity outpaced coupon inventory growth during the first half of 2026, with strong momentum across the U.S. and international markets

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., July 13, 2026 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — HotDeals today released its 2026 Mid-Year Savings Report, highlighting coupon activity and savings trends observed across its global platform during the first half of the year. Based on HotDeals’ internal platform data collected between approximately January and mid-July 2026, the report shows continued growth in coupon availability, merchant coverage, and savings activity, with demand for verified discounts increasing faster than the overall supply of coupon codes.

In the United States, the number of merchants available on the HotDeals platform increased from 14,704 to 15,308 (+4.1%), while the platform’s coupon inventory expanded from 203,000 to 231,804 active coupon codes (+14.2%). During the same period, savings records generated across the U.S. platform increased from 2.69 million to 7.84 million, representing 191.8% growth.

The report also found that coupon availability on the consumer-facing website expanded significantly. Publicly displayed coupon codes increased from 33,667 to 50,418 (+49.8%), while front-end savings records grew from 125,186 to 212,144 (+69.5%).

One of the report’s key findings is that savings activity grew substantially faster than coupon inventory. While the number of available U.S. coupon codes increased by 14.2%, savings records increased by 191.8%, indicating that existing coupon offers were used more frequently across the platform during the first half of the year.

“Our mid-year data suggests consumers are becoming more intentional about seeking savings before making online purchases,” said a HotDeals spokesperson. “As coupon availability continues to improve, shoppers appear to be making greater use of verified discounts across a wider range of retailers.”

The report also highlights strong momentum across HotDeals’ international markets. During the first half of 2026, savings records increased by 1,133% in the United Kingdom, 211% in Germany, 208% in France, and 180% in Australia. Emerging markets also showed continued expansion, with merchant and coupon inventories growing in South Korea, while savings activity more than doubled in Japan and nearly quadrupled in Hong Kong.

In addition, HotDeals observed sustained engagement with its coupon verification feature. Verification activity remained consistently active in the United States throughout the reporting period, with Germany and France also recording strong levels of verification usage, reflecting continued consumer interest in confirming coupon validity before checkout.

The report found that merchant coverage on the U.S. consumer-facing platform remained above 98%, with 15,213 of 15,308 merchants displaying at least one available coupon or promotional offer. This broad coverage helps shoppers access verified savings opportunities across a diverse range of online retailers.

The findings indicate that retailers and consumers alike are entering the second half of 2026 with discount verification as a baseline expectation rather than an occasional benefit — a shift that may reshape how promotional strategies are designed for the upcoming holiday season.

ScentFest SF, the West Coast’s First International Consumer Fragrance Festival, Opens at Fort Mason June 26-28

More than 110 fragrance houses, the Osmothèque's 4,000-year archive including the original 1921 Chanel No. 5, and a Scent Sessions program presented by Amouage with creative director Renaud Salmon and Kayali founder Mona Kattan

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., June 22, 2026 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — ScentFest SF, the West Coast’s first international consumer fragrance festival, opens June 26 to 28, 2026 at the Gateway Pavilion at Fort Mason Center in San Francisco. Founded by Sebastian Jara, creator of The Perfume Guy on YouTube, the inaugural three-day festival gathers more than 110 fragrance houses from around the world, the traveling archive of the Osmothèque, and a program of talks featuring some of the most recognized names in perfumery, all built for the public rather than the trade.

The centerpiece is the Osmothèque, the world’s largest fragrance archive, based at Versailles, France. For the first time, it will present its historic scents at a US consumer festival: 25 fragrances spanning nearly 4,000 years. The journey begins with Kyphi, the sacred scent of ancient Egypt, and runs through the cologne Napoleon wore, Houbigant’s Fougère Royale of 1884, widely called the birth of modern perfumery, and the original 1921 formula of Chanel No. 5 as Ernest Beaux first composed it. Among the rarest are Coty’s Chypre (1917), the perfume that named an entire fragrance family, and Jacques Fath’s Iris Gris (1947), a lost masterpiece collectors treat as a holy grail. Most are no longer made and survive almost nowhere else, making this a once-in-a-lifetime chance to smell them.

The festival’s Scent Sessions program, presented by the luxury house Amouage, brings three days of talks and panels featuring marquee names from across the industry. Amouage creative director Renaud Salmon headlines, joined in a Saturday rapid-fire session by Mona Kattan, founder of Kayali. Master perfumer Christophe Laudamiel, a live smelling of original historic formulas led by the Osmothèque’s Thomas Fontaine, and dozens of perfumers, brand founders, and critics round out a program on the art, craft, and culture of perfumery.

On the festival floor, the more than 110 houses range from established names to independent perfumers found in no department store, and nearly all sell on-site, so a scent discovered is a scent to take home that day. At the Algorithmic Perfumery station from EveryHuman, visitors answer a few questions and an AI composes a personal fragrance, blended and bottled on the spot (a custom 5ml bottle is $25).

“For one weekend, the public gets to walk into a world that usually stays behind the closed doors of the trade,” said Sebastian Jara, founder of ScentFest SF. “You can smell 4,000 years of perfume history, meet the people behind the bottles, and leave with a scent made just for you.”

The timing is deliberate. ScentFest SF caps a remarkable week for fragrance in Northern California, following the World Perfumery Congress in Monterey (June 23 to 25) and the Business of Beauty Global Forum in Napa Valley (June 24 to 26). It is the one part of that week made for the public.

ScentFest SF is open to the public from noon to 6 p.m. each day; press, industry, and VIP pass holders enter at 10 a.m. General admission is $49 for a single day or $139 for a three-day pass. Tickets and the full schedule are at https://scentfestsf.com/.

HotDeals Code Verification Feature Expands Across 23 Markets to Strengthen Coupon Transparency

HotDeals Consumer Savings Index data shows growing consumer preference for verified promo codes over unvalidated discount listings

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., June 10, 2026 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Data from the HotDeals Consumer Savings Index indicates that code-level verification is reshaping how consumers interact with online coupons. Two weeks after launch, the verification system now covers more than 38,000 merchant pages and over 400,000 promo codes across 23 international markets.

HotDeals
Image caption: HotDeals.

The expansion signals a shift in consumer expectations: shoppers increasingly look for evidence that a code works before attempting to apply it at checkout, rather than relying on trial and error.

KEY FINDINGS

According to the HotDeals Consumer Savings Index:

  • Verification coverage: The system tracks 400,000+ promo codes across 38,000+ merchant pages in 23 markets. In the U.S. alone, 15,422 merchant pages and 217,129 codes are monitored.
  • Consumer trust signals: Of all tracked codes in the U.S., approximately 35,000 currently meet the threshold to display verification badges, backed by nearly 3.7 million savings records collected from real transactions.
  • Geographic variation: France (4,177 merchants, 32,403 codes) and Germany (4,694 merchants, 37,140 codes) represent the largest European coverage, with the U.K. (5,835 merchants, 43,628 codes) leading in merchant count outside the U.S.
  • Global savings data: Across all 23 markets, the system has accumulated nearly 9 million savings records within two weeks, providing a growing dataset for code validation.

MARKET COVERAGE

Top five markets by verification coverage:

  • United States: 15,422 merchants, 217,129 codes
  • United Kingdom: 5,835 merchants, 43,628 codes
  • Germany: 4,694 merchants, 37,140 codes
  • France: 4,177 merchants, 32,403 codes
  • Australia: 1,393 merchants, 9,487 codes

Additional markets include Canada, Brazil, Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Poland, Denmark, Japan, and 10 others across Europe and Asia-Pacific.

HOW CODE VERIFICATION WORKS

The HotDeals Consumer Savings Index draws from two independent data streams:

  1. Aggregated Transaction Outcomes — The system tracks which codes produce confirmed results at checkout, scoring each code based on recent activity frequency across the platform.
  2. Brand Expert Testing — Category-specific testers validate codes directly on merchant websites, confirming discount amounts, eligibility conditions, and active status.

Codes meeting both thresholds receive a verification indicator visible to shoppers before they attempt to use the code.

WHY IT MATTERS

A significant portion of promo codes listed across the web are expired, restricted, or no longer functional. This creates a negative experience for consumers who spend time testing codes that ultimately fail at checkout.

Code Verification addresses this trust gap by surfacing real transaction data alongside each listing, allowing consumers to make informed decisions about which codes to try.

“The pattern we observe is consistent across markets,” noted the HotDeals Research Team. “Consumers want evidence that a discount works, not just a promise. Verification changes the coupon experience from guesswork to informed selection.”

HotDeals Launches Code-Level Verification Feature to Bring More Transparency to Online Coupon Savings

New feature highlights real savings from shopper activity and checkout-page testing by HotDeals Brand Experts across more than 100,000 tested promo codes

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., May 26, 2026 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — HotDeals today announced the launch of a new code-level verification feature designed to help online shoppers better understand whether a promo code may work before they reach checkout.

HotDeals Code-level Verification Samples
Image caption: HotDeals Code-level Verification Samples.

The new feature provides verification information at the individual code level for specific merchants. Instead of only showing that a coupon may be available, HotDeals now surfaces additional context around how a code has performed, including real savings amounts from shopper activity and verified savings identified by HotDeals Brand Experts during checkout-page testing.

According to HotDeals internal product data for this announcement, the platform has accumulated testing records for more than 100,000 promo codes across over 9,700 merchant pages. HotDeals plans to continue expanding verified code coverage as part of its broader effort to make online coupon discovery more transparent and practical for U.S. shoppers.

“Promo codes can be confusing for shoppers because availability, exclusions, minimum order requirements, and expiration timing often vary by merchant,” said a representative from HotDeals. “With code-level verification, HotDeals aims to give consumers more useful context before they try a code, including whether the code has recently worked and how much savings it has produced in real shopping scenarios.”

The feature combines two types of verification signals. First, HotDeals may display savings information connected to shopper activity, showing how much a customer saved when a specific code was successfully used. Second, HotDeals Brand Experts conduct checkout-page tests to confirm whether selected codes apply to eligible products, carts, or order conditions.

For example, shoppers may see recent activity indicating that a code helped another shopper save a specific dollar amount, alongside verification details showing whether the code was recently tested. This added layer of code-level information is intended to reduce uncertainty and help shoppers make more informed decisions before checkout.

HotDeals notes that coupon results may still vary depending on product category, merchant restrictions, account eligibility, location, shipping method, and order value. Shoppers are encouraged to review the final checkout price and confirm that a promo code is current, valid, and applicable to their order before completing a purchase.

The launch reflects HotDeals’ continued focus on improving coupon reliability and usability. By expanding verification from the merchant level to the individual code level, HotDeals (https://www.hotdeals.com/) aims to help shoppers spend less time testing expired or inapplicable codes and more time identifying offers that may apply to their actual purchases.

HotDeals is a verified coupon platform where real users test promo codes so shoppers don’t have to. The platform helps consumers find available coupons, promotional offers, and savings opportunities from retailers across a wide range of shopping categories.

Glancy Wine Education Foundation Releases 2026 Impact Report, Marking Six Years of Progress in Diversifying the Wine Industry

303 scholarships and more than $405,000 distributed since 2020; new data spotlights opportunities to engage Black, Hispanic/Latino, AAPI, and other underrepresented communities in wine

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., May 8, 2026 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — The Glancy Wine Education Foundation (GWEF), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to advancing diversity in the wine industry through scholarships for underserved professionals, today released its 2026 Impact Report. The report details the Foundation’s cumulative work since its 2020 founding and introduces newly compiled data on the demographic communities GWEF serves.

Glancy Wine Education Foundation
Image caption: The Glancy Wine Education Foundation (GWEF).

Since inception, GWEF has awarded 303 scholarships and distributed more than $405,000 in grants directly to its wine school partners which include the founding San Francisco Wine School, the International Wine Center in New York and the American Wine School in the Midwest. The Foundation operates with a 9% overhead — less than half the average for U.S. nonprofits — thanks to an all-volunteer board of industry leaders. GWEF holds a Four-Star rating from Charity Navigator and a Platinum Seal of Transparency from Candid.

Key Findings from the 2026 Impact Report

  • Recipient demographics: 61% of GWEF scholarship recipients identify as non-Caucasian, 55.7% are female, 42.8% male, and 2% non-binary.
  • Career outcomes: 67% of recipients have received a promotion following certification, and more than one-third are currently working full-time in the wine and hospitality industries.
  • Earnings impact: Industry data shows that professional wine certification can yield 50–300% salary increases over a career, with sommeliers progressing from $45–60K at entry level to as much as $190K at the Master Sommelier level.
  • Operational efficiency: Funds flow directly to wine school partners — no administrative layers between donors and scholarship recipients. The average GWEF scholarship is $1,477.

THE INDUSTRY GAP GWEF IS WORKING TO CLOSE

While Black, Indigenous, and People of Color make up 40% of the U.S. population, and more than half of Americans under 18 identify as a racial or ethnic minority, the wine industry remains markedly less diverse. Fewer than 1% of U.S. wineries are Black-owned (out of more than 11,000 total), fewer than 1% of winery owners or head winemakers are people of color, and roughly 2% of Black Americans hold leadership roles in wine, according to research from the Association of African American Vintners and Pronghorn Research. Hispanic/Latino professionals — who represent 18.7% of the U.S. population — hold just 4% of Fortune 500 executive officer roles, with comparable underrepresentation across wine. Only 14% of California bonded wineries have women as lead winemakers.

NEW DATA: THE AAPI OPPORTUNITY IN WINE

The 2026 report introduces newly gathered insights on the Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) wine consumer, according to the Asian Wine Association of America (AWAA). AAPI Americans represent 6.3% of the U.S. population but currently account for only 5% of wine consumption, even as roughly 50% of the AAPI population sits within the Millennial and Gen-X cohorts, with 39% drinking wine weekly, nearly on par with other demographics. Yet only 4% of wine industry executives identify as Asian, even as Asian markets are the fastest-growing demographic for WSET Global certification worldwide.

A MESSAGE FROM THE FOUNDATION PRESIDENT

“The world of wine is a celebration of diversity, and yet the industry itself has been slow to reflect that truth,” said Ana Keller, GWEF Foundation President. “At a moment when wine is competing harder than ever for the attention of younger, more diverse consumers, the case for inclusion has never been more urgent. The professionals who understand those communities, who come from them, are exactly who this industry needs.”

Keller added: “Since 2020, we have funded more than 303 scholarships, and none of it happens without people who believe that those who will shape this industry’s future deserve a real chance to get there. Every donation, at any level, goes directly to a scholarship and to someone whose career, and whose life, will be changed by it.”

IN THE WORDS OF RECIPIENTS

“GWEF made it possible for me to receive the wine training and education I needed to become a Sommelier in a Michelin-starred restaurant,” said Lily Yu, 2020 GWEF scholarship recipient and Private Event Sommelier, formerly of the sommelier team at The Modern in New York City.

“Thanks to GWEF’s assistance and what I learned in the WSET 3, I took over as head sommelier and was soon promoted to Wine Director. I also am a winemaker now,” said Oceano Ordonez, 2021, 2023 and 2024 GWEF scholarship recipient, Wine Director at Donato Enoteca, and GWEF Emeritus Board Member.

“GWEF has been a transformative experience that has profoundly impacted my personal and professional growth. Through GWEF I have gained networking opportunities resulting in great relationships and collaborations within the wine industry,” said Cristian Medina, 2022 and 2024 GWEF scholarship recipient and Sommelier at Shelby’s in Atherton, California.

HOW TO SUPPORT THE MISSION

GWEF welcomes contributions at every level — every dollar donated goes directly to scholarship funding. Corporate sponsorship tiers and named scholarship opportunities are also available, including scholarships established in honor or memory of industry colleagues. Wine schools, industry organizations, and nonprofit partners interested in collaboration are also encouraged to connect.

COME TOGETHER-A Community for Wine Inc. Launches Second Annual ‘Share & Pair Sundays’ Campaign

Nine Sundays of Wine, Food and Connection - Spanning Mother's Day, Father's Day and the Start of Summer - Spotlight Wine's Role in Easing the Loneliness Epidemic and Bringing People Together

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., April 30, 2026 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — COME TOGETHER—A Community for Wine Inc., the mission-driven company behind the Come Over October™ and Share & Pair Sundays™ wine advocacy campaigns, today announced the launch of the second annual Share & Pair Sundays campaign, running May 3 through June 28, 2026. Across nine consecutive Sundays, anchored by Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and the unofficial start of summer, the campaign invites consumers to gather around a table for the simple, time-honored ritual of sharing wine and food with the people they love.

COME TOGETHER-A Community for Wine Inc. Launches Second Annual 'Share & Pair Sundays' Campaign
Image caption: COME TOGETHER-A Community for Wine Inc. Launches Second Annual ‘Share & Pair Sundays’ Campaign.

“Last year proved that American wine drinkers are hungry for connection and for the kind of sharing that wine encourages,” said Karen MacNeil, co-founder of COME TOGETHER and author of The Wine Bible. “This year we’re building on that yearning. Sharing wine and food, as simple as that act can be, becomes a time of meaning, bringing friends and family together.”

A Cultural Response to the Loneliness Epidemic

The campaigns arrived at a moment when public health leaders were sounding alarms about social isolation. The U.S. Surgeon General has reported that roughly half of American adults experience loneliness, identifying it as a serious public health risk. The World Health Organization’s Commission on Social Connection estimates that around 16 percent of people worldwide experience loneliness and shares that high-quality social connection is essential to mental and physical health and well-being.

“Wine has been part of the human ritual of gathering for 8,000 years,” said Kimberly Noelle Charles, DipWSET, co-founder of COME TOGETHER and president of Charles Communications Associates. “Share & Pair Sundays is a simple invitation to reconnect, to carve out time, however that looks for you, to share a meal, a bottle, and a moment of presence. It’s about making space for real connection in a way that feels natural, not prescribed.”

A particular focus this year is making participation feel truly accessible. Share & Pair Sundays is designed so anyone can take part, whether it’s a dinner at home, a night out a restaurant, or causally standing around the kitchen counter with friends. The campaign encourages participation in whatever way feels natural, offering approachable recipes and pairing ideas that remove friction and make gathering seem simple. The goal isn’t to define what connection should feel like, but to remind people that it’s always within reach, and that wine, at its best, is something we share.

Building on a Movement

Together, Come Over October and Share & Pair Sundays have generated 2.6 billion media impressions, 1,315 published articles, a journalist reach of 1.29 million, over 5.6 million social media impressions and activations across more than 1,400 retail locations. The campaigns have also benefited from over $150,000 in donated media value contributed by leading wine publications.

This year’s activations are already showing the breadth and creativity of the wine community’s response. As detailed in a recent feature in Wine Industry Advisor, businesses across the country are interpreting the campaign in their own way: Idle Hour, an inn, restaurant and winery in Oakhurst, California near Yosemite, is using its monthly Supper Club to bring isolated locals together around shared, family-style meals; Cork & Keg Tours is curating intimate Sunday wine excursions through Loudoun County, Virginia; and Long Island Wine Country has launched a Blanc & Franc Brunch Series pairing North Fork sauvignon blanc and cabernet franc with menus from regional chefs.

“Whether it’s a backyard tailgate, a neighborhood potluck or a Sunday supper, the format doesn’t matter, the connection does,” added Gino Colangelo, co-founder of COME TOGETHER and president of Colangelo & Partners. “Our 2026 goal is to grow consumer reach by 50 percent, deepen retail and restaurant engagement and bring even more international participation into the movement.”

GeekyAnts Launches AI Pods to Close the Enterprise AI Production Gap

Outcome-based embedded delivery model includes a six-month warranty on AI-generated code and production-grade infrastructure from day one

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., March 26, 2026 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — GeekyAnts, a global technology consulting and product development company, today announced the formal launch of GeekyAnts AI and AI Pods, a two-tier delivery program built to take enterprise AI systems from proof of concept to production, addressing the infrastructure and accountability failures that have stalled most AI pilot programs in 2026.

GeekyAnts
Image caption: GeekyAnts.

According to EY, 82 percent of enterprises are running active AI proofs of concept. Gartner estimates that more than half of those pilots never reach full deployment. The failure point is rarely the model. It is the operational layer that the model depends on to function reliably, securely, and within compliance boundaries.

“Building an agent that works in a demo is no longer the hard problem, as the tooling for that is widely available and improving every quarter,” said Kumar Partik, CEO of GeekyAnts. “The hard problem is building the operational layer that makes it work in production: across real transaction volumes, inside regulated data environments, and under the scrutiny of a compliance audit the demo never anticipated. That is exactly what we built AI Pods to solve.”

THE PRODUCTION GAP

Building a working AI agent takes days, sometimes hours, with the tooling available today. Taking it to production is a different problem entirely. The agent itself is roughly ten percent of the work. The remaining 90% is infrastructure: deployment pipelines, latency benchmarks under real-world load, token-cost guardrails, monitoring for output drift, human-in-the-loop checkpoints, governance frameworks that survive a compliance audit, and the observability tooling that tells an engineering team what the system is actually doing at any given moment.

In financial services, the gap has a specific shape. A real-time fraud detection system that performs accurately in a test environment degrades silently in production because no monitoring layer was built to catch decision drift over time. A pilot that processed 50 transactions a day falls under 1.2 million because the underlying infrastructure was never stress-tested under production load. And in a regulated environment, a system that cannot generate a forensic audit trail for every decision it makes is not a production system. It is a liability. Compliance review halts the deployment. The initiative gets deprioritized. The AI budget gets questioned.

In healthcare, the failure mode is equally predictable. Clinical documentation systems and patient triage tools built on AI require accuracy at a level that no generalist engineering team can validate without a purpose-built evaluation framework. A system with 80 percent accuracy in a demo is a 20 percent error rate in a patient record. Healthcare AI that cannot demonstrate its decision trail, its accuracy benchmarks, and its monitoring layer will not clear a security or legal review. Most do not.

The root cause is organizational as much as technical. Enterprise engineering teams are evaluated on shipping a prototype that impresses in a review meeting, not on building the operational layer that keeps it running a year later. Infrastructure design gets deferred because it slows the demo cycle. A senior AI engineer with LLM orchestration and observability experience costs $180,000 or more in base salary, requires three to six months to recruit, and represents a single point of failure if they leave mid-project. The delivery model breaks before production code ships.

HOW AI PODS WORK

GeekyAnts has structured its AI delivery program around two tiers. GeekyAnts AI is a full-stack consulting and delivery practice for enterprise AI transformation. AI Pods is a pre-configured embedded team model for organizations that need continuous delivery capacity rather than a project engagement. Both tiers operate on the same production standard: infrastructure is not a second phase. It is designed from day one.

The structural differentiation is in the accountability model. AI Pods engagements are priced by outcome, by feature shipped, migration completed, or integration live, and not by hours billed or tokens consumed. Every custom agent configuration and RAG knowledge base built during an engagement is the client’s property from day one, not held on the vendor’s infrastructure. And GeekyAnts backs its AI-generated code with a six-month warranty: if a severity-one defect traceable to a Pod’s output surfaces within six months of delivery, the company fixes it at zero cost. In an industry where liability for AI-generated code failures typically transfers to the buyer at handoff, that warranty is not a standard term.

PRODUCTION RESULTS

A fintech client running a real-time transaction monitoring system built through an AI Pod reached 92 percent fraud detection accuracy across 1.2 million daily transactions, with sub-second response latency. The system shipped with token cost guardrails, a defined audit trail for every decision, and a monitoring layer that tracks output drift without manual intervention. The engagement moved from proof of concept to production in four weeks on a fixed-outcome model.

A second engagement, for an enterprise SaaS client running vendor risk and compliance workflows, reduced vendor onboarding time by 65 percent through an AI-powered intelligence platform automating risk scoring, compliance tracking, and contract monitoring. The platform was built audit-ready by design, so procurement teams could approve vendors faster without sacrificing the documentation trail required for regulatory review. Delivery completed in twelve weeks, on time, with zero launch blockers.

GeekyAnts AI and AI Pods are active across fintech, healthcare, and enterprise SaaS engagements in North America. Engineering and technology leaders working through a specific use case, whether an AI feature stalled in prototype, a system without a monitoring layer, or a compliance review that halted a deployment, can reach the team at geekyants.com

Global Old Vine Registry Surpasses 10,000 Vineyards – A Major Milestone in Documenting the World’s Historic Vines

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., March 26, 2026 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — In just three years, a global effort to document the world’s oldest vineyards has reached a major milestone. The Old Vine Registry, the world’s leading public database dedicated to historic vineyards, announced today that it has surpassed 10,000 registered vineyards worldwide, achieving a goal originally set for 2027 more than a year ahead of schedule.

The Old Vine Registry
Image caption: The Old Vine Registry.

Launched in 2023 as a crowdsourced effort to identify and document living vineyards older than 35 years, the registry now spans 42 countries, representing more than 40,900 hectares of historic plantings and 1,144 grape varieties.

The project was created with a simple premise: we cannot protect what we do not first identify.

“Old vineyards are among the wine world’s most valuable agricultural and cultural assets,” said Alder Yarrow, Architect and Manager of the Old Vine Registry. “But until recently there has been no global effort to systematically document where they are, what they contain, and how old they are. The registry exists to change that.”

The initiative aligns closely with the goals of the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV), which in October 2024 adopted Resolution OIV-VITI 703-2024, formally defining “old vines” as those 35 years or older and recommending that wine regions promote the cataloguing of historic vineyards.

“When we launched the registry, I thought there might be tens of thousands of old-vine vineyards worth cataloguing around the world,” Yarrow said. “As the data has come in, it’s become clear that the real number may be in the hundreds of thousands. Reaching 10,000 vineyards this quickly shows how much momentum there is across the global wine community to document and celebrate these historic plantings.”

The registry has grown rapidly through contributions from growers, researchers, importers, and regional wine organizations around the world. Importers including Skurnik Wines, Becky Wasserman & Co., and Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant have helped document historic vineyards within their portfolios, while regional bodies such as Wines of Moldova, the Armenian Wine and Vine Foundation, and the Empordà Denomination of Origin have contributed data from their regions.

Beyond documenting vineyards, the project aims to raise awareness of their value and encourage their preservation.

“When vineyards are identified and documented, they become visible,” Yarrow said. “And when something becomes visible, it becomes something people value, celebrate, and ultimately protect.”

The 10,000th vineyard recently added was Beaumont Wine Estate’s Hope Vineyard, in the Bot River region of South Africa, planted to Chenin Blanc in 1974. With this milestone now reached, the Old Vine Registry is inviting growers, regions, and researchers worldwide to continue contributing vineyards to the database. New targets for vineyard counts remain to be set.

“We want every region with historic vineyards to be represented,” Yarrow said. “The more we document these places, the stronger the case becomes for preserving them.”

The registry can be explored, and vineyards submitted, at https://www.oldvineregistry.org/.

About the Old Vine Registry:

The Old Vine Registry is the world’s first and largest database cataloguing vineyards aged more than 35 years of age around the world. The registry aims to be a resource for the wine industry, academia, and consumers to discover and learn about old vineyards, as well as a conduit for the sale of wines made from these vineyards.

Originally started by Jancis Robinson, the Registry launched as a crowd-sourced, public resource on the web in June of 2023, funded by a donation from Jackson Family Wines and managed by Alder Yarrow of Vinography.Com. The site is owned by The Old Vine Conference, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to building a credible category for old vine wines and a community that sustains and communicates its value.

As of 2026, the registry includes more than 10,000 vineyards across 42 countries, representing over 40,900 hectares of historic plantings.

Gold, Fuhrmann, Cook Win 2026 Top Individual NPA Awards

The NPA names the winners of its 2026 Gallagher Mentor Award, Distinguished Service Award, and Postdoc of the Year Award

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., March 13, 2026 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — As it celebrated 150 years of postdoctoral scholars in the U.S., the National Postdoctoral Association (NPA) announced at its annual conference that Michael S. Gold, Ph.D., Cynthia Furhmann, Ph.D., and Olivia K. Cook, Ph.D., are the 2026 winners of the organization’s three most prestigious individual awards.

The National Postdoctoral Association (NPA)
Image caption: National Postdoctoral Association.

“This year’s award recipients reflect the strength, generosity, and leadership that sustain the postdoctoral community at its best. Their contributions remind us that improving the postdoctoral experience requires more than individual excellence—it calls for mentorship, advocacy, service, and a genuine commitment to helping others thrive,” said Andrea Pereyra, M.D., Ph.D., chair of the NPA board. “Together, these honorees represent the values the NPA strives to advance and the kind of impact that strengthens both our community and the broader research enterprise.”

The NPA Gallagher Mentor Award recognizes the very best of mentors across the nation who advocate for postdoctoral scholars, make themselves available to their researchers, and empower their postdocs to succeed. Award winners demonstrate a sustained commitment to creating a productive working environment that enhances the overall postdoctoral experience. The award is made possible by the support of Arthur J. Gallagher & Co.

This year’s award was presented to Michael S. Gold, Ph.D., professor of neurobiology at the University of Pittsburgh. Those supporting Gold for the award noted that he values both professional excellence and personal well-being while promoting an inclusive, psychologically safe culture. Gold commented, “There are so many truly outstanding mentors across the country, it is a true honor to not only to have been nominated for the Gallagher Mentor Award, but selected as recipient.”

The NPA Distinguished Service Award (DSA) recognizes the highest appreciation for an individual who has demonstrated a profound, sustained, or leadership contribution to improving the postdoctoral experience. Today, that honor was bestowed on Cynthia Fuhrmann, Ph.D., associate professor of the RNA Therapeutics Institute, biochemistry and molecular biotechnology, UMass Chan Medical School. Additional finalists for the award were Sara Dann-Grice, Ph.D., director of the postdoctoral certificate program, The University of Texas Medical Branch, and Paolo Mangahas, Ph.D., director, division of education and training, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Fuhrmann received the DSA today to an audience of peers in San Francisco who recognized her years of supporting the national postdoctoral community. She was lauded in her nomination for her work as an innovator, helping to develop groundbreaking educational and training instruments, including myIDP and pdHub. “She has an unwavering commitment to building coalitions that have the potential to actually effect national systemic change,” noted her nominators.

Upon being notified of the award, Fuhrmann commented: “Postdocs play a vital role in research and innovation, yet too often their own professional development and career goals are forgotten by the very systems that reap those benefits. The NPA’s twenty-year leadership on this issue makes this award an especially touching honor. To me, this award symbolizes the value of working together as a community, across disciplines and institutions, to effect change.”

Lastly, the NPA presented its annual NPA Postdoc of the Year Award, bestowing that honor on Olivia K. Cook, Ph.D., Dean’s Postdoctoral Scholar, Department of Psychology & Learning Systems Institute, Florida State University. The award recognizes a postdoc who has advanced the postdoctoral community in an exceptional manner beyond their work duties and in alignment with the NPA mission and core values. The NPA announced additional finalists for the award as Saul Huerta de la Cruz, Ph.D., postdoctoral associate, University of Vermont, and Courtney Matson, Ph.D., postdoctoral researcher, Center for Immunology, University of Minnesota.

In nominating Cook for this prestigious award, faculty members noted she “exemplifies this award through leadership, exceptional service, and a profound commitment to the advancement of the postdoctoral community.” Cook stated, “this award speaks to the collective efforts of concurrent and former postdoctoral leaders at my institution – I am hopeful that this platform can bring attention to causes in need of additional advocacy, such as postdocs’ access to healthcare, childcare, and paid parental leave.”

“It’s an honor to work alongside these three individuals and all our exceptional nominees,” said Thomas P. Kimbis, J.D., executive director and chief executive officer of the NPA. “Drs. Cook, Fuhrmann, and Gold set the standard for excellence in their institutions and beyond. They demonstrate the irreplaceable role of postdocs in promoting American leadership in the sciences and beyond.”

The awards are part of the NPA’s Excellence Recognition Program, highlighting the exceptional work of individuals and organizations in the postdoctoral space. Follow the work of Cook, Fuhrmann, Gold, and other exceptional leaders by collaborating with the NPA, committed to advancing the skills and careers of our nation’s postdoctoral scholars, who have been working for 150 years to benefit Americans across all fifty states.

About the National Postdoctoral Association:

The National Postdoctoral Association (NPA) is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) charitable and educational association headquartered in Bethesda, MD. Founded in 2003, the NPA envisions an inclusive community where all postdocs are empowered, valued, recognized, and supported in their current and future endeavors. Old Vine Registry Nears 9,400 Vineyards as 1991 Plantings Become Eligible

Volunteer researchers and leading wine importers fuel rapid expansion of global old-vine database

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., Jan. 13, 2026 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — The Old Vine Registry, the world’s largest and most authoritative database of historic vine plantings, has entered the new year with 9,393 registered vineyards across 42 countries, reflecting a surge of new contributions over the past twelve months.

The Old Vine Registry
Image caption: The Old Vine Registry.

With the turn of the calendar year, vineyards planted in 1991 have now reached the 35-year threshold and are newly eligible for inclusion. Producers and growers are encouraged to submit qualifying vineyards at https://www.oldvineregistry.org/.

Much of the Registry’s recent growth has been driven by volunteer researchers and the direct contribution of vineyard data from leading wine importers, including Skurnik Wines, Becky Wasserman & Co., Winebow, and others. Their participation has significantly deepened coverage in several of Europe’s most historically important regions, including the Rhône Valley, Burgundy, and Bordeaux.

This growth has also been supported by the Heritage Vine Hunt Contest, an ongoing global initiative encouraging the public to identify and document historic vineyards worldwide, with participants eligible for prizes while contributing to the preservation of viticultural heritage.

The Registry’s expanding scope aligns closely with the OIV’s Resolution OIV-VITI 703-2024, “OIV definition and recommendations about old grapevines and old vineyards in the vitivinicultural sector,” which explicitly encourages wine regions worldwide to catalogue and document their old vines.

“The Registry was built on the idea that preservation starts with visibility,” says wine writer Alder Yarrow, who manages the project day to day. “What’s been most encouraging is seeing how producers, importers, and volunteers have all stepped in to help make that visibility real.”

The Old Vine Registry will host its annual update webinar on 30 June at 17:00 BST / 09:00 PST, during which the yearly winners of the Heritage Vine Hunt contest will be announced alongside a new initiative. Registration details will be circulated one month prior to the event.

The Registry continues to welcome volunteer researchers and financial supporters interested in sustaining the non-profit initiative. Interested parties may contact oldvineregistry@gmail.com.

About the Old Vine Registry

The Old Vine Registry is the world’s largest public database cataloguing vineyards aged more than 35 years. Originally initiated by Jancis Robinson, the Registry launched publicly in 2024 as a crowd-sourced resource, supported by a founding donation from Jackson Family Wines and managed by Alder Yarrow of Vinography. The Registry operates under the aegis of The Old Vine Conference, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to establishing a credible global category for old-vine wines and communicating their cultural and viticultural value.

HealthSync AI Unveils Industry’s First Unified Digital Healthcare Platform (UDHP) to Transform Hospital, Medical Group, and Rural Health System Operations

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., Nov. 19, 2025 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — HealthSync AI, a leader in healthcare automation and AI-native clinical intelligence, today announced the launch of the Unified Digital Healthcare Platform (UDHP), the first end-to-end, AI-orchestrated infrastructure designed to unify fragmented systems across hospitals, medical groups, and rural healthcare providers.

HealthSync AI
Image caption: HealthSync AI.

The HealthSync UDHP sits above existing EHRs and operational systems, connecting data, workflows, revenue cycle processes, and clinical intelligence into a single, secure, real-time ecosystem. The platform enables healthcare organizations to unlock unified operations without replacing their EHRs or core systems.

“Healthcare doesn’t need another standalone tool, it needs a new foundation,” said Chris Fisher, CEO of HealthSync AI. “Our UDHP architecture solves the systemic issues that EHRs were never built to address. This is the operational backbone that hospitals, clinics, and rural providers have been asking for.”

A NEW ARCHITECTURE FOR A FRAGMENTED INDUSTRY

Most hospitals and clinics rely on hundreds of disconnected applications, leading to data silos, errors, manual work, and multi-day delays in patient and billing workflows. According to a 2024 JAMA Network Open study, only 8–19% of U.S. family physicians report “ideal” interoperability across their systems, with rural providers experiencing significantly worse fragmentation.

HealthSync AI’s UDHP solves this by introducing a unified operational graph that connects data from EHRs, RCM systems, payer portals, telephony, lab systems, and specialty platforms. The platform automates cross-department workflows using a secure, healthcare-specific AI reasoning engine.

CORE COMPONENTS OF THE UDHP

  • Atrium™ – A HIPAA-native clinical reasoning SLM that powers documentation, coding, decision support, and multimodal understanding.
  • Voxr9™ – Ambient voice AI that captures clinician–patient conversations in the exam room and generates complete EHR documentation with optional real-time translation.
  • OmniSync™ – AI voice and chat agents that manage scheduling, intake, triage, and patient communication 24/7.
  • Pulse3™ – Real-time RCM engine that validates coding, checks eligibility, and drives clean-claim rates up to 98%.
  • OrchestrAI™ – Workflow automation engine that coordinates clinical and operational actions across systems.
  • Sentinel™ / EquiScan™ – Continuous governance, audit protection, and equity oversight.

DESIGNED FOR HOSPITALS, MEDICAL GROUPS, AND RURAL HEALTHCARE

The UDHP enables organizations of all sizes to achieve:

  • 30–50% administrative burden reduction
  • 1–2 hours/day returned to clinicians
  • 85%+ workflow automation
  • Faster revenue cycles and near-zero denials
  • Improved patient communication and safety
  • On-premise or private-cloud deployment for PHI control

“Rural and independent clinics have been left behind by traditional interoperability efforts,” said Fisher. “The UDHP levels the playing field by giving them access to the same unified infrastructure as major health systems, without the cost or complexity.”

ABOUT HEALTHSYNC AI

HealthSync AI is a healthcare infrastructure company specializing in AI-driven workflow orchestration, clinical reasoning models, ambient intelligence, and unified data automation. The company’s UDHP powers the next generation of healthcare operations for hospitals, medical groups, and rural health systems.

Frank Residences Redefines Memory Care with Innovative, Person-centered Programs Leading into Alzheimer’s Awareness Month

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., Nov. 3, 2025 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — As National Alzheimer’s Awareness Month approaches in November, Frank Residences is spotlighting award-winning programs that are transforming memory care. The Bay Area’s leading nonprofit senior living community demonstrates how combining creativity, innovation, and thoughtfully designed environments can enrich the daily lives of people living with dementia and provide peace of mind for their families.

A resident of Frank Residences engages with the Memory Care Experience Station.
Image caption: A resident of Frank Residences engages with the Memory Care Experience Station.

“At Frank Residences, every memory care neighborhood is intentionally small, with no more than 18 residents per neighborhood, to encourage connection while reducing overstimulation,” said Robert Sarison, LMFT, Executive Director at Frank Residences. “Natural light, courtyards, and inviting common spaces are designed with comfort and safety in mind, while honoring residents’ independence.”

Life enrichment at Frank Residences is personalized around each resident’s story, interests, and abilities. Music, art, and drama therapies inspire connection, creativity, and self-expression, while tailored activities nurture individuality and strengthen family bonds. Residents also enjoy concerts, films, and art workshops in state-of-the-art venues such as the Osher Performance Center, movie theater, and art studio.

Innovative programs and forward-thinking tools at Frank Residences enhance life for residents.

  • Memory Care Experience Station – A one-of-a-kind multisensory experience using sight, scent, sound, and touch to reduce agitation and ease anxiety. Residents have “traveled” through Italy with the aroma of basil and fresh bread or taken a sensory drive across the Golden Gate Bridge using vibration pads. Families often describe these sessions as moments when their loved ones “come alive.” The program has earned national recognition, including the Fast Company World Changing Ideas Award and the LeadingAge California Innovation Award.
  • Dinner Party Program – Developed in collaboration with UCSF’s Global Brain Health Institute, this annual gathering uses favorite foods to evoke long-term memories and encourage interaction. Residents share cherished recipes and stories, demonstrating the power of food as a non-pharmacological approach to dementia care.
  • Dementia Capable Care – All team members receive advanced training through the evidence-based Dementia Capable Care™ curriculum from the Crisis Prevention Institute, emphasizing person-centered, non-drug approaches. Two certified instructors also extend this training to families.
  • Virtual Reality Training – Innovative VR simulations help staff experience dementia from the resident’s perspective, building empathy and enhancing compassionate, individualized care.
  • Liquid View – An installation that creates a therapeutic, engaging experience and converts the space into an immersive, nature-inspired digital environment. It offers calming visuals that reduce stress and promote emotional well-being for residents.
  • Fitness and Wellness with Exos – In partnership with Exos, a national leader in holistic wellness, certified instructors provide fitness classes and personalized training designed to support strength, balance, and vitality beyond traditional exercise.
  • Empower Me Therapies – On-site physical, occupational, and speech therapy services further support residents’ health and independence.
  • Arts & Medicine Integration – UCSF-trained physicians use the arts as a therapeutic tool to enhance mood and connection.

“When Marvin first arrived, I worried about how he’d adjust,” said Barbara, whose husband now lives at Frank Residences. “The team recognized his unique routines and gave him the reassurance he needed. Now he’s thriving in an environment that truly values his dignity—it’s changed both of our lives.”

UPCOMING COMMUNITY WORKSHOP

As part of its collaboration with the local community, Frank Residences will host Living Longer, Living Better, a free, engaging discussion on aging trends, family dynamics, and senior living options on Wednesday, November 12, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Gerontologist Amy LaGrant will discuss research that shows where you live can help you live longer. HotDeals, a leading online coupon and discount platform, today announced the launch of its 2025 Holiday Shopping Campaign

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., Oct. 23, 2025 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — HotDeals, a leading online coupon and discount platform, today announced the launch of its 2025 Holiday Shopping Campaign, including dedicated festival pages, real-time coupon updates, and exclusive membership perks to help consumers save more during Halloween, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday.

Halloween Deals Page on HotDeals
Image caption: Halloween Deals Page on HotDeals.

As the festive shopping season approaches, savvy consumers are already gearing up to make the most of the biggest sales events of the year. From Halloween treats to Black Friday doorbusters and Cyber Monday digital steals, HotDeals is stepping up its game to help shoppers save smarter. With dedicated festival pages, real-time deal updates, and an enhanced membership system, HotDeals aims to make this holiday shopping season more rewarding than ever.

HALLOWEEN 2025: A SEASON OF SPOOKY SAVINGS

This year’s Halloween shopping season has already shown how eager consumers are to grab seasonal deals — and how powerful a well-organized discount hub can be. Through its dedicated Halloween festival page (https://www.hotdeals.com/festival/halloween), HotDeals offered a one-stop destination for everything spooky and sweet. From costume discounts to candy promotions and party decoration deals, shoppers were able to browse hundreds of verified discount codes and exclusive offers from their favorite merchants.

Halloween is traditionally known for its themed products — costumes, makeup, decorations, and party essentials. However, it has increasingly become a major online sales period, with many retailers launching early-bird promotions and flash sales.

HotDeals responded to this trend by:

  • Creating a dedicated landing page with Halloween-specific categories, making it easier to find relevant deals.
  • Updating deals in real time so shoppers could access fresh, verified promo codes without the frustration of expired offers.
  • Highlighting merchant updates, including free shipping policies, bonus points for loyalty members, and special seasonal bundles.
  • Leveraging its membership system to provide users with early access to selected deals and personalized offers.

This year’s Halloween campaign demonstrated HotDeals’ commitment to improving the holiday shopping experience. But while Halloween was just the beginning, the real shopping frenzy is yet to come: Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

BLACK FRIDAY & CYBER MONDAY: THE PEAK OF SEASONAL SAVINGS

As October draws to a close, all eyes turn to the biggest shopping days of the year — Black Friday and Cyber Monday. For many consumers, this period isn’t just about buying gifts; it’s about maximizing savings on everything from electronics to fashion, home goods to beauty products. HotDeals is preparing a robust, user-focused strategy to help every shopper make the most of these mega events.

1. DEDICATED FESTIVAL PAGES FOR BLACK FRIDAY & CYBER MONDAY

Just like the Halloween campaign, HotDeals will launch special festival pages for both Black Friday and Cyber Monday. These landing pages will be carefully curated to help users navigate thousands of deals easily.

They’ll feature:

  • Top trending categories like tech gadgets, fashion apparel, home & kitchen, and beauty essentials.
  • Editor’s Picks and Top Deals of the Day sections, highlighting the biggest discounts across major brands.
  • A clean, intuitive design that allows users to browse quickly without missing out on limited-time offers.

Whether shoppers are hunting for a new laptop, a pair of stylish boots, or early holiday gifts, these festival pages will serve as their ultimate savings guide.

2. REAL-TIME DISCOUNT CODE UPDATES

Black Friday and Cyber Monday are known for their fast-moving deals. Offers can appear — and disappear — within hours.

To keep up with this fast pace, HotDeals will provide:

  • Instant deal updates, ensuring that shoppers always have access to the latest, verified discount codes.
  • A “Hot Now” section that tracks the most popular, high-value deals in real time.
  • Deal verification systems to reduce the frustration of expired or misleading coupons.

This dynamic approach ensures that users spend less time searching and more time saving.

3. MERCHANT NEWS & SEASONAL PERKS

During Black Friday and Cyber Monday, many retailers go beyond standard discounts — offering perks like free shipping, buy-one-get-one deals, extended return policies, and loyalty program bonuses.

HotDeals is working closely with top merchants to:

  • Publish merchant announcements and promotions as soon as they’re live.
  • Highlight free shipping offers to help users save even more.
  • Showcase loyalty rewards and member-only perks that shoppers might otherwise overlook.

By integrating these insights directly into the festival pages, HotDeals empowers users to plan their purchases strategically.

4. HOTDEALS MEMBERSHIP: UNLOCK EXCLUSIVE REWARDS

One of the most exciting developments this year is the new HotDeals membership system. While it has already enhanced the Halloween campaign with early-bird alerts and exclusive offers, it will play an even bigger role in Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Membership benefits include:

  • Early access to selected high-demand deals.
  • Exclusive coupons not available to the general public.
  • Personalized recommendations based on shopping interests.
  • Bonus rewards during the holiday period.

For loyal HotDeals users, this means more opportunities to save and less risk of missing out on the best offers of the season.

WHAT MAKES HOTDEALS DIFFERENT THIS HOLIDAY SEASON

In a crowded coupon and deal space, HotDeals stands out through its user-centric approach. Instead of overwhelming shoppers with endless coupon lists, the platform focuses on curation, real-time updates, and verified discounts. The goal is simple: help every shopper save money while enjoying a smooth, trustworthy shopping experience.

Here’s what sets HotDeals apart this holiday season:

  • Festival landing pages for major events like Halloween, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday.
  • Real-time, verified coupon updates to minimize frustration.
  • Merchant insights to give shoppers the full picture of seasonal benefits.
  • A membership system that rewards loyalty with exclusive perks.
  • Mark Your Calendar & Get Ready to Save

  • Black Friday 2025: Friday, November 28 — a day of record-breaking deals and early holiday gift shopping.

Whether you’re planning to decorate your home for Halloween, grab unbeatable Black Friday deals, or upgrade your tech on Cyber Monday, HotDeals will be your ultimate savings partner throughout the season.

‘Healing a Soldier’s Heart’ Premieres Nationally on PBS.org and Public Television Stations on Veterans Day Weekend 2025

PTSD-suffering Vietnam Vets Face Their Moral Injuries and Find Peace in New Documentary

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., Oct. 14, 2025 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Seventeen U.S. veterans die by suicide every day, a number largely unchanged for over a decade. Yet today, on the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War, there is a hopeful approach for treating combat-related PTSD, an approach which focuses on the “moral injury” that can often accompany war. Recognized by the VA in 2009, Moral Injury emphasizes the psychological, social and spiritual aspects of war-related trauma. Moral injury is in clear focus in the documentary, “Healing a Soldier’s Heart,” Cultural & Educational Media (CEM Productions), the production company for the film, announced today.

'Healing a Soldier's Heart' Premieres Nationally on PBS.org and Public Television Stations
Image caption: ‘Healing a Soldier’s Heart’ Premieres Nationally on PBS.org and Public Television Stations.

“Healing a Soldier’s Heart,” (trailer – https://vimeo.com/1084744286/9c66ecb49b?ts=0&share=copy), follows the courageous, emotionally-charged journey of four PTSD-suffering Vietnam war veterans as they venture back to face their inner demons and ghosts that have been haunting them for decades, under the guidance of psychotherapist and author Edward Tick PhD.

This cinematic, emotionally-gripping film presents a series of trauma-healing practices, including face-to-face meetings with former enemies, authentic apologies and acts of restitution. Tick leads the group on an immersive, therapeutic experience of Vietnamese culture, Buddhist prayer, meditation, compassion and forgiveness.

The emotional support of marital spouses is powerfully evident throughout the film as the four protagonists confront the deep feelings of guilt, shame, and anger that have plagued them for decades.

As Ed Tick tells us about PTSD: “The same suffering goes on consciously or unconsciously. But we have to make the suffering conscious in order to achieve healing.”

The four veterans evolve from terrorized nightmares, drug abuse, domestic violence and thoughts of suicide, to a state of self-realized human beings and spiritual warriors. Their struggles and their paths to healing and transformation will resonate deeply with U.S. combat veterans from the Iraq and Afghan wars, as well as with spouses, families and friends.

“Healing a Soldier’s Heart,” makes its national public television premiere on Veterans Day weekend, premiering November 9, 2025 at 6 p.m. PT / 9 p.m. ET on PBS.org, the PBS App, the project website, https://www.healingsoldiers.org/ and PBS stations. Check local PBS schedules for broadcast times.

Following the premiere, viewers can join a livestreamed webcast featuring a discussion with Dr. Ed Tick, filmmaker Stephen Olsson, U.S. veterans from different wars, spouses, and PTSD/Moral Injury experts.

Glancy Wine Education Foundation Welcomes New Board Members

Brandon Ford and Annie Shi join board to advance fundraising and community initiatives

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., July 23, 2025 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — The Glancy Wine Education Foundation (GWEF) today announced the appointment of two new board members, Brandon Ford and Annie Shi, as the organization marks a leadership transition with the stepping down of Vice President Alder Yarrow after five years of dedicated service.

Brandon Ford and Annie Shi join GWEF Board July 2025
Image caption: Brandon Ford and Annie Shi join GWEF Board July 2025.

Ford, Sales Director at Formulated Solutions and elected councilman of the Summit County Council in Ohio, will join GWEF’s Fundraising Committee. Shi, the acclaimed restaurateur behind King, Jupiter, and Lei in New York City, will spearhead the foundation’s newly formed Community Committee—focused on fostering scholarship recipient networking, mentorship, and community building as GWEF celebrates its fifth anniversary.

“I’m honored to join the Glancy Wine Education Foundation board,” said Ford. “Their work bridges the gap between passion and profession, making wine education more accessible to those who have historically been underrepresented in the industry. Supporting that mission is both a personal and professional calling for me.”

Ford brings 18 years of wine industry experience, including work with the American Wine School and WSET Advanced Certificate credentials. His multidisciplinary background spans degrees in nursing, law, and business, along with extensive teaching experience in wine education.

Shi, a Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree and Yale University graduate, leads beverage programs at her restaurants, which have garnered recognition from The New York Times, Food and Wine, Vogue, and New York Magazine. King was named to the top ten of The New York Times’ 2025 Best Restaurants in New York City list.

“GWEF’s mission to bring accessible wine education to more people is one that is near and dear to my heart—I wish GWEF had existed when I was starting out in my career,” Shi said. “In my day-to-day life in restaurants, I encounter so many wonderful hospitality professionals who have aspirations of continuing their wine education. I can’t wait to spread the word about GWEF and connect them with our organization.”

The appointments come as Vice President Alder Yarrow concludes a five-year tenure with the foundation. Yarrow was instrumental in GWEF’s founding during the COVID-19 pandemic and helped shape its mission to support underserved communities in wine education.

“We are deeply grateful to Alder for his vision and leadership over these foundational five years,” said Ana Keller, President of GWEF. “His contributions have been essential to building GWEF into the nationally recognized organization it is today. We’re excited to welcome Brandon and Annie, whose expertise will help us expand our impact through enhanced fundraising efforts and stronger community connections for our scholarship recipients. Their locations in the Midwest and East Coast respectively reinforce our national reach.”

The new Community Committee, led by Shi, represents GWEF’s commitment to supporting scholarship recipients beyond their initial education, creating ongoing opportunities for professional development, networking, and mentorship within the wine industry.

Since its founding in 2020, GWEF has awarded 249 scholarships totaling $350,000 to aspiring wine professionals from underserved communities nationwide. The foundation maintains a four-star rating from Charity Navigator and a Platinum Transparency rating from Candid’s GuideStar.

GWEF board members serve on an all-volunteer basis, and the foundation’s educational partnerships now span San Francisco, New York, Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, and Cincinnati, providing access to WSET qualifications, Society of Wine Educators certifications, Wine Scholar Guild programs, and other specialized wine education courses.

Professionals in need of financial aid are encouraged to apply for scholarships year-round at https://www.glancywineeducationfoundation.org/apply-today. Applications are available in Spanish and English, with awards made monthly.

Glancy Wine Education Foundation Celebrates 5th Anniversary with Expanding National Impact

Milestone year with increased scholarship recipients and robust fall programming

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., July 10, 2025 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — The Glancy Wine Education Foundation (GWEF) today celebrates the 5th anniversary of its founding with the release of its mid-year impact data, highlighting important growth in scholarship awards, industry sponsorship, and national reach. Since 2020, GWEF has awarded 249 scholarships to aspiring wine professionals from underserved communities across the United States, with total distributions of $350,000 in funding.

“We are thrilled to see the transformative impact GWEF has made in our first five years as a foundation and the accelerated engagement thus far in 2025,” said Ana Keller, President of GWEF. “We are dedicated to continuing this work, expanding our community, and building a more diverse wine industry for a sustainable future.”

“Being inclusive and growing diversity in the wine industry is critical for our industry wellbeing and requires all of us to lean in. Expanding our reach to support students nationally has clearly demonstrated to us that there is significant demand for this kind of education and the kind of financial support we provide,” stated Keller.

Born from necessity during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, GWEF emerged as an industry response to support individuals facing shutdowns and layoffs throughout the hospitality sector. What began as immediate relief evolved into addressing a deeper need for inclusion and diversity within the wine industry.

“We rapidly saw that the need included not only career development but also support for more inclusion and diversity within the wine industry,” explained Alder Yarrow, Vice President of GWEF. “We decided to create a foundation that would engage and encourage wine-curious professionals – at whatever their employment level and from all walks of life – to advance their journey through deeper education and training.”

The foundation’s impact extends across diverse population groups nationwide, spanning both urban centers and underserved rural communities. GWEF Scholarships give recipients access to prestigious wine education programs offered by the foundation’s educational partners in San Francisco, New York, and several cities in the Midwest (Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland and Cincinnati). Available programs include Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) qualifications, Society of Wine Educators certifications, Wine Scholar Guild programs, and other specialized courses and certifications.

GWEF’s fifth anniversary year launched with significant national expansion through strategic partnerships with the International Wine Center in New York City, the American Wine School in Chicago, and the Association of African American Vintners in addition to its founding partner school, the San Francisco Wine School.

Building on this momentum, GWEF prepares for its annual board retreat and strategic planning session focusing on the annual Online Auction Fundraiser this September 2025, along with events and activities for 2025-2026. To stay up to date, visit https://www.glancywineeducationfoundation.org/news

“Our fundraising team is working closely with wineries, educational foundations, wholesale and retail partners, private individuals and more organizations who want to walk the walk of supporting diversity within the wine industry,” noted Alder Yarrow, Vice President, GWEF.

Professionals in need of financial aid, are encouraged to apply for scholarships year-round at https://GlancyWineEducationFoundation.org/. Applications are available in Spanish and English. Awards are made monthly.

A New Survey from Handy Recovery Advisor Shows Over 70% of U.S. Users Have Faced Data Loss

A nationwide U.S. survey by Handy Recovery Advisor exposes the main causes, user habits, and blind spots behind data loss, and shows how common and preventable it is

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., July 9, 2025 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Handy Recovery Advisor, a trusted resource for data recovery tips and digital safety advice, has published the results of a nationwide survey of 1,000 U.S. adults. The report highlights how everyday users deal with data loss and how most don’t take action until it’s too late.

Handy Recovery Advisor: Cover with data loss rate finding.
Image caption: Handy Recovery Advisor: Cover with data loss rate finding.

According to the study, 71% of Americans have lost data at least once. The two biggest culprits were found to be accidental deletion (34%) and hardware failure (30%). Together, they account for nearly two-thirds of all incidents. The survey results clearly show that data loss is something most people will eventually deal with, whether it’s due to human error or a device malfunction.

“Data loss isn’t a problem exclusive to businesses,” said Andrii Yasko, content strategist for Handy Recovery Advisor. “It happens in regular households every day. Our goal with this survey was to understand what people actually do in situations like this, what really works for them, and how these experiences shape their data habits going forward.”

MAC USERS ARE AT GREATER RISK

While many people see Apple devices as more dependable, the survey actually found that Mac users are 30% more likely to experience data loss than Windows users.

CLOUD STORAGE WORKS (IF YOU USE IT)

The survey revealed a clear connection between cloud adoption and data resilience. Nearly 60% of users who have never experienced data loss reported actively using cloud storage for their files.

MOST RECOVERIES ARE DIY, AND THEY OFTEN WORK

When data loss happens, most people rely on themselves. 60% of successful recoveries were done without professional help. Of those who tried the DIY route, nearly 79% got their files back.

Additional insights:

  • While 92% of respondents said they’re aware that data recovery is possible, only 28% have ever used recovery software.
  • About 33% said they’d pay for professional recovery – but only if the lost data was truly important.
  • Users with higher tech proficiency reported more data loss overall.

You can find a full report here: https://www.handyrecovery.com/data-loss-statistics/

METHODOLOGY

The survey was conducted through the Pollfish platform on June 24, 2025, and gathered responses from 1,000 U.S. adults across a broad range of states and age groups (18 to 75).

Frank Residences Partners with the Alzheimer’s Association

July 10 Workshop Offers Tools, Connection Strategies, and Research Insights for Families Navigating Caring for Someone with Dementia

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., July 1, 2025 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Frank Residences, a non-profit senior living community known for its integrated memory care, is partnering with the Alzheimer’s Association to host a “Care for the Caregiver” Workshop on Thursday, July 10, from 4 to 5 p.m. at One Avalon Avenue, San Francisco.

Frank Residences, part of the San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living
Image caption: Frank Residences, part of the San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living.

The free event is designed to support family caregivers who are navigating the emotional and practical complexities of dementia. Attendees will gain effective tools for managing stress, hear about memory care options available at Frank Residences, and learn about the latest advancements in dementia research.

“This partnership with the Alzheimer’s Association reflects our shared mission to support both those living with dementia and the families who love them,” said Rob Sarison, executive director at Frank Residences. “No one should feel alone on this journey.”

Amy LaGrant, sales director and gerontologist at Frank Residences, will open the workshop with her TED Talk and share personal insights on maintaining connections through cognitive decline. Drawing from her own experience, including the story of creating a pretend business with her father as a way to foster purpose and engagement, LaGrant will illustrate how empathy and creativity can transform the caregiving journey.

Workshop Highlights:

  • Opening remarks by Amy LaGrant, sales director and gerontologist with Frank Residences
  • Emotional resilience tools and stress-reduction strategies for caregivers
  • Updates on Alzheimer’s research and care innovations
  • Overview of the integrated memory care model and newly expanded capacity

Memory Care That Feels Like Family

Frank Residences’ hallmark approach is integrated, inclusive, and relationship-centered. Memory care residents are not separated from the broader community; they participate in campus-wide activities and live in beautifully designed residences that feel like home.

This model is especially meaningful for couples navigating different levels of care. Frank Residences offers families a rare opportunity to remain under one roof—sometimes just across the hall from one another—without sacrificing elegance, dignity, or connection.

“This allows for spouses to commingle and be close by; in most other communities, they are in separate buildings, and it can be hard to be there every day,” added Sarison. “That kind of closeness brings peace of mind that’s hard to find elsewhere.”

Leading competitors in the PNS space include Curonix, which markets an injectable pain stimulator, SPR, which markets a percutaneous system, Nalu Medical, Bioventus, and Mainstay Medical, which markets a restorative neuromodulation system for treatment of back pain of mechanical origin. Glancy Wine Education Foundation Expands to Become National Scholarship Organization

New partnerships with International Wine Center, American Wine School, and Association of African American Vintners broaden wine education opportunities across the US

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., March 10, 2025 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — The Glancy Wine Education Foundation (GWEF) is proud to announce its expansion to become a national scholarship organization through strategic partnerships with the International Wine Center in New York, the American Wine School in the Midwest, and the Association of African American Vintners (AAAV). Combined with the foundation’s existing partnership with the San Francisco Wine School, these collaborations significantly extend GWEF’s geographic reach, enabling more aspiring wine professionals across the United States access to high-quality wine education.

Glancy Wine Education Foundation
Image caption: Glancy Wine Education Foundation.

The Foundation’s new alliance with the International Wine Center brings GWEF scholarship opportunities to New York, while the partnership with American Wine School extends access to virtual and in-person classes across multiple Midwestern cities including Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, and Cincinnati. Additionally, following the January 2025 launch of GWEF’s collaboration with the Association of African American Vintners, AAAV members now have enhanced access to professional wine education through GWEF scholarships.

“These partnerships mark a significant milestone in our mission to make wine education more accessible to underserved communities nationwide,” said Ana Keller, President of the Glancy Wine Education Foundation. “By expanding our reach from coast to coast, we can now help a much broader range of students develop their careers through professional wine certifications.”

The expansion builds on GWEF’s strong foundation of educational support. Since its establishment in 2020, inspired by the vision of San Francisco Wine School co-owners, Master Sommelier David Glancy and COO, Kristin Campbell, the Foundation has focused on providing scholarships to underserved and minority communities to further their professional wine education, increase diversity in the industry, and raise earning potential.

Glancy notes, “The pandemic magnified areas where the wine industry needed to develop opportunities for educational support. Many communities in our industry were lacking access to the educational programs needed to advance their careers, and the Foundation was conceived to address that issue. It’s exciting to see that original vision expanded to operate on a national scale.”

“The wine industry benefits tremendously from diverse perspectives and backgrounds,” said Alder Yarrow, Vice President of GWEF. “These new partnerships mean we can now support aspiring professionals from many more communities across America.”

Scholarship recipients will have access to prestigious wine education programs through GWEF’s educational partners, including Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) qualifications, Society of Wine Educators certifications, Wine Scholar Guild programs, as well as other proprietary courses and certifications.

Professionals in need of financial aid are encouraged to apply for scholarships year-round at GlancyWineEducationFoundation.org. Awards are made monthly.

Located entirely within the Carneros AVA, between Napa and Sonoma counties, the six estate vineyards total approximately 400 acres with one third of the acres planted to chardonnay and two thirds planted to pinot noir.

Domaine Carneros’ château has become a landmark and symbol of the region. The architecture and interior design were inspired by the 18th century Château de la Marquetterie, the historic Taittinger family residence in the Champagne region. Visitors to the chateau enjoy seated tastings of methode traditionelle sparkling wines and small-lot pinot noir in the elegant Jardin d’Hiver or on the broad terrace overlooking the rolling vineyards of Carneros. Domaine Carneros limited production wines are available onsite, via ecommerce, and are distributed nationally by Kobrand Corporation which, founded in 1944, remains one of the few family-owned wine and spirits companies in the United States.

The winery places a high value on preserving the environment and has taken on a vast array of environmental efforts. The roof of the pinot noir winery adjacent to the château hosts a solar array that was the largest on any winery in the world when it was installed and continues to be expanded with a state-of-the-art microgrid launched in 2023. The most recent award, one of many from federal, state, and local government; was the California Green Medal for Domaine Carneros’ demonstration of “Smart Business through efficiencies, cost savings and innovation from implementing sustainable practices.”
