Artificial intelligence is reshaping how children and youth learn, how people connect, how truth is formed, and how identity itself is understood. I was invited by Anthropic to participate in a meeting where AI researchers, ethicists, and technologists openly discussed the moral weight of what they are building. What struck me most was not the sophistication of the technology, but the realization that the deepest questions emerging from the AI age are not ultimately technical questions, but theological questions. They are questions of dignity, purpose, truth, formation, and the story we believe our lives are part of.

In a moment like this, the Church cannot stand on the sidelines. We need moral clarity, rooted in the unchanging truth that every person is created in the image of God and carries inherent dignity, worth, and purpose that no algorithm can quantify and no model can replace or improve.

I believe technology can be an extraordinary instrument for good. It can open doors, expand access to God’s Word, strengthen learning, and help us reach the next generation in ways we never imagined possible. But technology was never meant to replace humanity or redefine it. When innovation moves faster than wisdom, people begin serving the systems created to serve them. Technology may assist human flourishing, but it can never replace the God-given role of parents, pastors, mentors, and the local church in the spiritual formation of the next generation.

As the leader of OneHope, a global ministry committed to engaging every child and youth with God’s Word, I believe the Church must guide the next generation to not only develop digital discernment but deep theological wisdom, forming young people who understand truth, human dignity, embodiment, purpose, and community through the lens of Scripture. In the age of AI, this is a foundational part of discipleship.

I affirm the “Magnifica Humanitas” warning against any technology that seeks to transcend or redefine what it means to be human. Human beings are not problems to be optimized away. We are image bearers of God, created for relationship with Him and with one another through Jesus Christ. That truth must be the immovable foundation of every conversation about artificial intelligence.

Artificial intelligence will inevitably amplify the values of those who build it and those who deploy it. That means the future of AI cannot be shaped solely by technology companies and market forces. The Church has something vital to contribute. For two thousand years, Christians have wrestled with questions of virtue, formation, community, dignity, and human flourishing. Those questions are now at the center of the AI conversation. I have been encouraged to meet technology leaders who genuinely want to engage these questions and invite voices from faith communities into the discussion. I believe this is an important opportunity for the Church to serve, and I am committed to standing in that space, helping bridge the conversation between faith and innovation in ways that serve and protect the next generation.

The age of AI does not need more innovation, but it does need wisdom. And the people of God have been stewarding wisdom for generations.

To global Church leaders: The formation of the next generation is happening right now with or without your voice. The values being embedded in artificial intelligence systems today will shape how billions of children learn, think, and understand what it means to be human for decades to come. You carry the theological wisdom, global reach, and moral authority to speak into this moment. We must convene, collaborate, engage, and refuse to surrender one of the most important formation questions of our time to voices that do not begin with the Author of humanity.

To next-generation pastors and ministry leaders: Preach this from your pulpits. Teach this in your classrooms. Weave it into your discipleship. Your children, your students, your young people are already being formed by AI systems, and they need more than screen time guidance. They need a robust, Scripture-rooted understanding of their identity as image-bearers of God, their purpose as people called to love and serve, and their resilience as disciples who know what is true when the world’s voices multiply and conflict. Do not wait until you feel fully equipped. The formation happening in your absence will not wait for your readiness.

To parents: You remain the most powerful formative influence in your child’s life, more powerful than any platform, model, or algorithm. No technology company, however sophisticated, can replicate what God has entrusted you. Be present and ask the hard questions about what your children are encountering online, in AI tools, and in the digital spaces shaping their self-understanding. Create room in your family’s rhythms for the conversations only you can have about faith, identity, truth, and what it truly means to flourish as a human being made in the image of God. The greatest gift you can give your child in the age of AI is a parent who is fully, unhurriedly, irreplaceably there.

To the technology community: Many of you understand the imperative of ethically shaped AI models. Many of you carry a genuine desire to build well and serve humanity. Faith leaders want to collaborate with you. But we also call you to the highest standard, one grounded not in metrics or market share, but in the dignity of the human person. Protect children by designing for flourishing, not for dependency. Be transparent about the values you are embedding in the systems you build. And invite the Church, with its long, hard-won wisdom about virtue, formation, and the meaning of being human, into genuine dialogue. This is an invitation to build wisely and faithfully in one of the most consequential moments of our time.

The moment to activate the global Christian community is now. We must move beyond concern into bold, coordinated, Spirit-led action for the sake of the next generation.

Former Governor Ricardo Rosselló and Author Aaron Bare Urge America to ‘Flip the Incentives’ Driving Political Violence

Rosselló recounts becoming the target of “Telegramgate” in 2019, when leaked chats—distorted and stripped of context—ignited digital mob trials, protests, and death threats against his family. Though later cleared of corruption, the outrage had already forced him into exile.

CCHR: Psychiatric Treatment Fails to Protect Communities, Often Fuels Tragedy

LOS ANGELES, Calif., Sept. 22, 2025 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — When violent tragedies like mass shootings strike, media have quoted family members or friends who assert perpetrators were “schizophrenic” or “off medication.” The Citizens Commission on Human Rights International (CCHR) says this inadvertently implies that psychiatric intervention could have prevented the acts, but psychiatrists themselves admit they cannot predict violent behavior. And psychiatric treatment — even involuntary hospitalization and drugging — often coincides with, or worsens, violent outcomes.

CCHR analyzed 132 acts of senseless violence between the 1980s and 2022. Of these, 43 perpetrators had been psychiatrically hospitalized — often involuntarily—and at least 106 were prescribed psychotropic drugs prior to or at the time of their crimes. The true number would be higher, CCHR says, since toxicology results and treatment histories are often withheld. One perpetrator, treated long-term before shooting and wounding 10 and injuring 19 others, admitted: “They made me worse. They made me more dangerous than anybody could f— imagine.”

Recent case in point: Charlotte, North Carolina (August 2025). A 34-year-old man fatally stabbed a 23-year-old girl on a light rail train. Authorities described it as a “missed opportunity” for evaluation and medication. But the alleged perpetrator had already been involuntarily hospitalized, prescribed drugs, and cycled through prison, where psychiatric treatment is routine.[1]

Linking violence to “schizophrenia” reinforces a stereotype disproven by research.

A National Institutes of Health-funded CATIE trial found that 19 of 20 people diagnosed with schizophrenia exhibited no violent behavior during two years of follow-up.[2]
People given the label are 14 times more likely to be victims of violence than perpetrators.[3]

CCHR stresses that the real risk comes not from an unproven illness, for which there are no medical tests to confirm, but from the powerful drugs or other therapies imposed to treat it. When headlines state a perpetrator “stopped taking medication,” the implication is blame. But antipsychotics—literally “nerve-seizing” chemicals—can cause agitation, aggression, excitability, paranoia, diabetes, heart failure, and even brain shrinkage. Stopping is often a rational act of self-preservation.

Clozapine, widely forced on inmates, can cause lethal blood disorders, seizures, irritability, confusion, weight gain, hallucinations, sexual dysfunction, heart arrhythmias, and irreversible movement disorders.[4] A review of six major antipsychotics found treatment failure or relapse rates up to 93%, with widespread harm to multiple body systems.[5]

Withdrawal itself poses dangers, causing agitation, psychosis, or suicidality that never existed before and are mistaken for relapse.[6] Psychiatrist Joanna Moncrieff emphasizes that people who want to stop “should not be deemed irrational if they wish to try for a better quality of life free of the burdens of these drugs.”[7]

The Tarasoff ruling (California, 1976) gave psychiatry a “duty to warn” of dangerous behavior. Yet a psychiatrist admitted, “Violence by an individual is almost impossible to predict,” and the ruling demanded abilities “well beyond the professional powers of any therapist.”[8]

Even the American Psychiatric Association admits its Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) cannot establish mental disorder in relation to competency or criminal responsibility.[9] Yet, there are more than 200 “violence risk assessments” based on such unreliable tools. These can justify involuntary detention—raising serious concerns under the United Nations’ Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which calls for an end to forced detainment and treatment.

Case Reports of Treatment Failure:

Buffalo, NY (2022): An 18-year-old killed 10 and injured 3 after psychiatric hospitalization.[10]
Houston, TX (2024): A perpetrator, 36, shot and injured two—including a child—after at least four involuntary commitments.[11]
Duxbury, MA (2023): A mother strangled her 3 children after discharge from a psychiatric hospital and being prescribed 13 psychiatric drugs for eight months prior.[12] Her lawyer said the drugs caused homicidal and suicidal ideation.[13]

“Cases like these exemplify that the problem isn’t early release or missed medication,” said Jan Eastgate, president of CCHR International. “The real issue is psychiatric incarceration and treatment itself often fails and worsens conditions. There should be a full review of this and the poor and dangerous outcomes.”

U.S. taxpayers have poured billions into violence-prevention schemes rooted in psychiatry.

Safe Schools Act (1994): promised violence-free schools by 2000.
Safe Schools/Healthy Students Initiative (1999–2009): spent $2.1 billion.
Bipartisan Safer Communities Act (2022): added over $2 billion for mental health in schools and nearly $190 million in DOJ safety grants.
2024 White House report detailed $1 billion to hire 14,000 school-based mental health staff, and $240 million for school-based programs.

Yet school shootings increased nearly 60% since the Safer Act’s passage—rising from 52 in 2019 to 83 in 2024.[14]

CCHR urges policymakers to confront that psychiatry’s model of detainment and drugging has failed to protect society. “Involuntary commitment and psychiatric drugging are not safeguards—they are risks,” Eastgate stated. “Psychiatrists admit they cannot predict violence, yet billions more are spent on programs built on a false promise that they can. It is time for accountability.”

Strategic Benefits Advisors outlines what plan sponsors need to know about the One Big Beautiful Bill

(SBA) today released a practical summary of the employee benefits provisions contained in the newly enacted One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBB), signed into law by President Trump on July 4, 2025. While the legislation spans a wide range of tax and policy changes, SBA’s summary highlights the bill’s most significant impacts on employer-sponsored retirement plans, health and welfare benefits and payroll operations.

“Ever since the Affordable Care Act, employer-sponsored benefits have remained in flux, with each new piece of legislation adding another layer of complexity,” said SBA Director and Senior Benefits Consultant Andy Clonts. “The One Big Beautiful Bill is no different. It introduces helpful flexibilities around HSA eligibility and indexes to inflation certain limits that have been stagnant for many years. At the same time, it creates new operational and compliance challenges that plan sponsors will need to navigate.”

“Some provisions are optional, others automatic and several require careful coordination between HR, payroll and third-party vendors,” Clonts added. “Our goal is to help plan sponsors cut through the noise and quickly understand which provisions affect them so they can prioritize what to address now versus what may require longer-term planning.”

RETIREMENT PLAN IMPACTS:

New Trump accounts for employees and dependents: OBBB creates a new tax-advantaged savings vehicle, referred to as a Trump account. Beginning in 2026, employers may contribute up to $2,500 per year (indexed for inflation) on a tax-free basis to accounts owned by employees or their dependents. These accounts function similarly to IRAs and are intended to support long-term savings goals.

HEALTH AND WELFARE PLAN IMPACTS:

Dependent Care FSA limit increased: Beginning in 2026, the dependent care FSA contribution limit increases from $5,000 to $7,500 per household ($3,750 if married filing separately). The new cap is not indexed for inflation.
Expanded HSA eligibility:
- First-dollar telehealth coverage: OBBB makes permanent a pandemic-era exception that allows HDHPs to offer pre-deductible telehealth benefits without jeopardizing HSA eligibility.
- Direct Primary Care (DPC): DPC arrangements are no longer considered disqualifying coverage, and associated fees (up to $150 per month for individuals or $300 per month for families) are now reimbursable from HSAs.
- Bronze and catastrophic plans: All bronze and catastrophic plans purchased on the individual Exchange now count as HDHPs for HSA eligibility purposes.
Student loan repayment programs made permanent: OBBB makes permanent the ability for employers to provide up to $5,250 annually in tax-free educational assistance, including student loan repayments. Starting in 2026, this limit will be indexed for inflation.
PFML tax credit expanded: The Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML) tax credit is now permanent, is available in all states, features reduced service requirements (six months instead of one year) and applies even when employers fund leave through insurance premiums.
Enhanced employer-provided child care credit: The maximum employer-provided child care credit increases to $500,000 (or $600,000 for qualifying small businesses), with a higher reimbursement percentage, new allowances for pooling resources and using third-party intermediaries and indexing for inflation beginning in 2026.
Elimination of bicycle commuting reimbursement: OBBB makes permanent the repeal of a fringe benefit that allowed employers to reimburse up to $20 per month in qualified bicycle commuting expenses on a tax-free basis. Most employers did not offer it, but those that did will no longer be able to provide this reimbursement on a tax-advantaged basis starting in 2026.

PAYROLL ADMINISTRATION IMPACTS:

Tips and overtime earnings excluded from income tax: For tax years 2025–2028, employees may deduct qualified tips and overtime premium pay from their federal taxable income when filing their annual tax return. While payroll withholding practices remain unchanged, payroll teams should ensure proper earnings breakout reporting and anticipate employee questions. Employees must continue reporting tips to their employers, and employers must treat tips and overtime as taxable income for withholding purposes and include them on employees’ W-2s.

Election Audit Warning to 17 North Carolina Counties

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Dec. 3, 2024 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Frank Moseley president of Unirealm Information Systems announced a warning to 17 North Carolina counties that they must perform a special audit check because statistical anomalies indicate that presidential electronic ballots with no corresponding physical ballot may have been tabulated.

He still recommends that all 3,143 counties in the country perform this special check anyway as part of their standard post election audit checks in this and every presidential election from now on.

The foundation of computerized voting systems is based on the implicit assumption that there will always be an exact one to one ratio between every electronic ballots and every physical ballot.

Unfortunately that requirement depends on every voting system computer programmer being both 100% competent and 100% honest which many not always be the case such as when incompetent or dishonest computer programmers leave electronic test ballots that get silently tabulated.

Previously it was thought that only a 50 state hand count of all ballots in the 3,143 counties in the country could detect when the one to one relationship between electronic ballot and physical ballot was violated in a presidential election.

Fortunately two weeks ago he discovered an audit that can detect such ballots using the normal auditing technique of detecting incorrect totals by looking for small subtotals that are far from the normal values.

In presidential elections a super majority of the voters who vote in president race also vote in the House race, therefore we can use the normal 3% of the voters who didn’t vote in the House race as the that small subtotal.

The “Frank Moseley Presidential Election Audit” known by the acronym “FMPEA” is done by calculating the county’s percentage of these no House race ballots to the yes presidential race ballots.

A green FMPEA is from 0.00% thru 2.99%, a yellow FMPEA is from 3.00% thru 4.99%, a red FMPEA is from 5.00% and over which means a mandatory count of these yes president race no House race ballots.

The 17 red FMPEA counties in North Carolina are as follows: Beaufort = 10.57%, Cabarrus = 8.89%, Carteret = 10.72%, Craven = 14.65%, Dare = 14.95%, Davidson = 6.94%, Davie = 7.17%, Duplin = 14.89%, Forsyth = 6.86%, Guilford = 7.72%, Hyde = 14.50%, Jones = 13.86%, Onslow = 13.41%, Pamlico = 17.46%, Pitt = 23.49%, Rowan = 12.49%, Sampson = 17.65%.

He has sent each of these counties a warning letter requesting that they voluntarily perform this FMPEA audit to confirm that they are actually “flying pigs” statistical anomalies, and if they don’t, then he will file a complaint in North Carolina state court to order them to do it.

SB 276: California doesn’t trust its own Medical Doctors

"A Kaiser publication reported that, according to Director Karen Smith, the California Department of Public Health is conducting a 'review of schools' where the number of vaccine exemptions appears 'biologically unlikely,'" Dr. Harte notes. "How Orwellian!" That publication reports that "questionable exemptions will be reported to the Medical Board."

Dr. Harte says: "The very willing, pharmaceutical advertising-laden news media are happy to report instances of alleged abuse of the medical exemption, creating their own fake news. Medical doctors who are willing to write these exemptions are portrayed as foolish, at best, and criminal, at worst."

He goes on: "There have already been certain doctors who have been attacked and persecuted by the press and the medical board. An example is a headline of the 'Medical Press': 'In California, some doctors sell 'medical exemptions' for kids' vaccinations,' as if the vaccine-shooting docs work for free." He continues, "I have seen this very type of "money-hungry' libel many times, against chiropractors. Considering that Medicine sucks up one-fifth of the American economy, and the very tiny minority of pediatricians who stand up to do the right thing, to make this argument, well, it's a lot of nerve and not so much brain."

According to CBS Channel 13 in Sacramento, Dr. Pan have the nerve to say "There's a very small number of physicians who have betrayed their professional oath. I think they're monetizing their license." Dr. Harte says that it is just the opposite: "It is the pediatricians who push vaccines who are betraying their professional oath, whether those vaccines are 'accepted' by the Establishment, or not. There is no question that each vaccine contains a variety of neuro- and immunotoxins, and that vaccination, as a process, subverts normal immune processes." Dr. Harte declares, "I question the ethics and the competency of the pediatricians who, regularly, perform serial vaccination, causing untold harm. Have they forgotten that part of the Hippocratic Oath, 'First, do no harm?'"

This is all a bad, dangerous joke, but a profitable joke for Big Pharma."

"Contrary to the CDC propaganda, annual deaths from the flu," Dr. Harte explains, "are less than 400 per year, most if not all, I would assume, are of people who are already in very bad shape. On the other hand, severe side effects, including the dreaded, paralyzing Guillain-Barre Syndrome, sometimes leading to death, can come from the flu shot itself."

Dr. Harte wonders about "the irresponsibility of alleged 'medical professionals' from the local Rite-Aid performing a medical procedure without knowing medical histories, without receiving informed consent." ‘California punishes doctor for acting like a doctor,’ says Dr. Harte

RMA’s Kim Briesemeister on How City Leaders Must Plan for Smart Growth Trends

Briesemeister also noted that the rapidly increasing percentage of people who purchase groceries online will necessitate centralized urban distribution centers, as rural centers will be unable to meet timely delivery demands. However, current zoning does not typically allow for distribution centers in downtowns, and therefore may need to be adjusted. Another adjustment will be modifications in drop off, pick up and delivery zones near urban stores which will be impacted by cars becoming autonomous.

"Changes in zoning laws will be required to meet the shift in how we buy goods," said Briesemeister.

An additional development that city leaders also need to be ready for is the advent of smart buildings. In the Netherlands, a new concept was introduced that far surpassed the basic LEED certified conditions. In one case, a building was outfitted with 32,000 sensors that constantly monitor everything, including which rooms are the dirtiest so cleaning crews know where to concentrate their time.

"These smart buildings will increase efficiency at many levels, and city leaders need to be aware of that impact," explained Briesemeister. "From changes in permitting laws to timing the flow of Uber pickups and coordinating traffic controls, technology is going to have an even greater effect on our daily lives. These advances will be implemented by the business community quickly, so futuristic city planning must be happening now."

"A lot of commercial borrowers are not aware of some of the financing options that are available out there," Johnson continues. "For example, we have a great balance sheet product where a borrower can lock in their interest rate today for a period of up to 12 months while they burn-off any remaining prepayment penalty. This approach saves our clients a substantial amount of money as they avoid paying their prepayment penalty while also taking interest rate risk off the table."

E-commerce Driving a Shift in Demand toward Multi-Unit Industrial Properties:

Another factor that is currently impacting the commercial lending market is E-commerce. Companies like Amazon and Wayfair are driving demand for warehousing space. And with thousands of other companies getting in on the Ecommerce craze, multi-unit industrial properties are at a premium.

Despite the effort to stop this erosion of consumer protections by a group of sixteen states and the District Of Columbia, the Trump Administration, supported by nursing home operators and the lobbyist group the American Health Care Association, is working to remove limitations for forced arbitration in nursing home services, essentially stripping nursing home residents' right to take facilities to court over alleged abuse, neglect and sexual assault.

With legitimate patients becoming addicted and often turning to illegitimate sources to feed their habit, opioid overdoses have skyrocketed. For example, in the first three months of this year in Maryland alone, there have been 550 overdose deaths.

So far six states, including Alaska, Arizona, Florida, Maryland, Massachusetts and Virginia, have declared emergencies to access more resources to fight the additional crisis. More states such as New Jersey, Washington, and South Carolina have begun to take action with lawsuits against drug makers.

The legal actions are not limited to States, cities have also begun to file suit against drug manufacturers. According to The Indianapolis Business Journal, Indianapolis will be suing several drug manufacturers, including Purdue Pharma, Endo and Teva, as well as naming opioid distributors Cardinal Health, McKesson Corporation and AmerisourceBergen as likely defendants in the lawsuit. Counties have also taken up the effort such as Pennsylvania's Lackawanna County which announced a lawsuit against opioid painkiller maker Allergan.

Many of the lawsuits claim that both makers and distributors of opioids 'unfairly and deceptively' marketed opioids helping fuel the opioid crisis.

The additional crisis and growing legal response have not gone unnoticed by many in the legal community.

Troubling Trend of Increased Zip-Line Injuries Addressed In Published Article By Christina Walsh, JD and Bernard F. Walsh, Esq.

Entitled, "Zip-Line & Pre-Injury Releases," the article brings attention to the troubling rise of serious and fatal accidents arising from zip-lining at private businesses. The article cites a study by the American Journal of Emergency Medicine which examined zip-line accidents nationally from 1997 to 2012.

The study found that over the sixteen year period, nearly 17,000 people were treated for zip-line related injuries, and that the injuries were most common in children and teenagers. The article makes particular note of the apparent spike in the frequency of accidents over the last four years, with nearly ten injuries per day.

The article also points out that while not included in the study, there were more than six deaths from zip-line accidents in 2015 alone, and that the number of both commercial and amateur zip-lines in outdoor educational programs, camps and backyards has increased dramatically as well, to more than 13,000.

In addition to the sheer number of injuries, the study found that many of the injuries sustained from zip-lining were quite serious and included, traumatic head injury, spinal cord injury, broken bones, torn ligaments, ripped muscles, friction burns, lost digits as well as deaths as a result from collisions with other riders, trees and structures or failure of equipment.

Having defined the very real risk and frequency of serious injury and death resulting from zip-line accidents, the article focuses on strategies plaintiff's attorneys should consider when representing victims of zip-line accidents in personal injury cases, and how to overcome the pre-injury release forms most injured parties would have been made to sign. Additionally, many of the zip-line operators have elected not to carry liability insurance.

As with many dangerous outdoor activities such as tandem skydiving and parasailing, participants are usually required to sign a pre-injury release agreement before participating. Such agreements are designed to release the activity provider from any legal liability should injury occur. However in some cases, these agreements are poorly drafted or other circumstances affect the case that will allow an attorney to win compensation for an injured client.

New Jersey Political Prisoner NJ Weedman Does ‘Hunger Strike for Bail’ from Mercer County Jail

TRENTON, N.J. /ScoopCloud/ -- Is orange the new green? Cannabis activist, cancer patient and self-proclaimed "Superhero of the Potheads" Ed Forchion aka "NJ Weedman" might well be pondering this dilemma as he sits out his "Hunger Strike for Bail" protest in New Jersey's Mercer County Jail.

The free speech activist was originally incarcerated on March 3, 2017 and is being held without bail on charges of witness tampering. Forchion has since filed a Federal Writ of Habeas Corpus in U.S. Federal District Court of Trenton New Jersey (Case No. 317CV02669PGS) claiming a tragic violation of his civil rights under New Jersey's new bail reform laws. Forchion has gone without food for over 11 days.

The charges were filed after Forchion, per the approval of his former attorney, posted the name and photo of a police informant on his Facebook page, requesting the public to help him find information on the man. Forchion believed the individual was a paid informant, hired by the Trenton Police, to build a drug case against him. Under New Jersey's new bail reform laws, which went into effect January 1, officials cite that certain conditions can warrant pre-trial detention, like danger to the community, flight risk or threat to a witness.

"I am a peaceful, proud and patriotic pothead," cites Forchion. "Yet I have sat here for over 100 days in a cell while watching real criminals, like murderers and rapists, get released daily on bail. Nothing I did was illegal," Forchion has stated from jail. "Nothing I did was wrong. In fact, I actually thought I was in accordance with the law per the advice of my attorney." (Forchion's attorney has since been removed from the case per his own request.)

Forchion's long standing battle for marijuana law reform has been documented for over two decades. Considered by many as the "grandfather of marijuana reform in New Jersey," Forchion is a bone cancer patient who states he needs marijuana for his symptoms. Forchion's most recent travails with the Trenton Police Department have shined an international media spotlight on the state's current cannabis policy. Forchion contends he is political prisoner due to the "politics of pot Jersey style."

Amongst his many trials and tribulations over the years, Forchion pleaded guilty in 2000 to charges of conspiracy to distribute and marijuana possession and was released on parole after serving 18 months on a reduced sentence. He was arrested again in Burlington County, N.J., in 2010 on marijuana possession and distribution charges. He has fought those charges. Forchion argued his medical condition gave him a "medical necessity" defense to possess and appealed the decision to the NJ Supreme Court and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Forchion achieved Hollywood notoriety when he opened a marijuana dispensary in Los Angeles in 2008, saying it was a temple that used marijuana as part of its religious ceremonies. The California temple was shut down after a federal drug raid in 2011.

Currently Forchion, a Rastafarian, is the co-owner of New Jersey's only cannabis-themed restaurant, NJWeedman's Joint and a spiritual sanctuary, Liberty Bell Temple III, located directly across from New Jersey's Trenton City Hall. He opened the businesses, alongside his partner, medical marijuana mom activist and registered nurse, Debi Madaio. The restaurant and sanctuary receive not only a steady stream of customers but also worldwide media attention.

Smokers’ Rights Group Objects to NYC Council Anti-Smoker Measures

Our previous concerns vindicated we now stand by our word that airing objections at what amounts to no more than a pro forma proceeding on a preordained conclusion is not only a waste of time but beneath our dignity. Rather, C.L.A.S.H.'s position, as further stated at that last time at bat, is to advocate peaceful individual resistance. Good men disobey bad laws. One need only to take a stroll in a park or on a beach today to see this is what has unfolded.

While C.L.A.S.H. will not be physically present at the hearing, testimony will be submitted on paper for the sake of the historical documentation of our objections. For the record, it will include the following:

* Int 1140-2016, sponsored by Council Member Fernando Cabrera, seeks to prohibit smoking and vaping (of electronic cigarettes) in vehicles when a child under the age of 8 is present.

Congratulations for giving police officers a beautiful way to get around the clamp down on stop, question and frisk! Pulling people over for something as inane as smoking as an excuse to probe for more is a gift. I should know. I'm retired NYPD.

* Int 0977-2015, sponsored by Council Member Donovan J. Richards, will ban smoking inside apartments of city financed buildings.

Congratulations for putting more minorities out of their homes to loiter on the sidewalks and attract the attention of the police while the more affluent get to remain comfortably and safely in their homes!

* Int 1544-2017, sponsored by Council Member Corey D. Johnson, increases the floor price on a pack of cigarettes from $10.50 to $13.00. It also raises the price and tax on cigars, little cigars, smokeless tobacco, shisha and loose tobacco.

Congratulations for increasing the number of "buttleggers" ready to meet the demand for lower cost smokes (New York already has the highest rate of cigarette smuggling at over 55%).

So congratulations too for making it easier for minors to buy cigarettes! Teens know better than anyone else where to get "the goods." (Where do you think they get their pot?) And unlike stores no carding!

Congratulations for helping to fund terrorism and using those minors and adults to do so! Terror-tied individuals are well known to take advantage of this lucrative endeavor created by our politicians. Better a bomb that no one invites than freedom to make an invited, informed legal choice, right?

Congratulations for creating an even greater incentive to burglarize and rob bodegas and convenience stores! Many times the details in a news report include the fact that cartons of cigarettes were targeted during these crimes. And hey, that's more illicit street sales to minors. Way to go!

And a really hearty handshake and congratulations for beating out your competitor - the tobacco industry - by making more money off the sale of a pack of cigarettes than they do! Who is it really that is in the business of selling cigarettes these days?

Just last week the NY Times reported how Iraqis, liberated from ISIS control, expressed their joy. The headline read, "After ISIS, Smoking Openly to Feel Free." Our sentiments exactly. It's a matter of being let alone to live freely rather than the way demanded by a group in power.

Smokers' right group NYC Citizens Lobbying Against Smoker Harassment (C.L.A.S.H.) was courteously extended a personal invitation by the office of the NYC Council to attend and provide testimony at the Health Committee hearing being held Thursday on a package of ten anti-smoker proposals. The invitation was initially accepted but now we decline.

Trump’s wrong attack on Opioid Epidemic

Cortisone shots damage already-damaged (by anti-inflammatories) joint surfaces. Spinal surgery has such a bad record that they have a name for their failures... 'Failed back surgery syndrome.' And when joint replacements aren't right, it's disastrous!" He charges, "This is irresponsible science; it is irresponsible doctoring."

"There is no hope," says Dr. Harte, "in pain management. It fixes nothing, while causing constipation and sleep problems, lung and heart damage, as well as addiction. To empower the government to provide more and better rehab for opioid addicts, created by medical care, is not the answer! Such a safety net will likely lead to a bigger epidemic."

Dr. Harte's answer to this crisis? "The only answer to the current life-destroying opioid epidemic is to point the finger at orthopedic medicine, and lead the way to safe and effective chiropractic care, on a widespread basis. It is high time that people reject what does not work, and seek what does." He concludes, "Chiropractic works. It corrects cause, with zero risk for addiction."

Missing Pieces of the ‘Health Care’ Debate

"As the current 'health care' discussion rages on," Dr. Harte observes, "there is a great deal of emphasis on 'keeping costs down... affordability.' While the Affordable Health Care Act has proven to be not affordable, neither will what is being proposed now." He declares "Modern Medicine, by its very nature, cannot be affordable because it continually expands the demand for its services, by causing more sickness. And what kind of industry makes itself unaffordable?"

"The screaming truth that neither political party faces is that Modern Medicine is an abysmal failure across the board. Amongst the old," Dr. Harte states, "there is the terrible epidemic of Alzheimer's, which, in my opinion, is caused by a combination of commonly prescribed drugs that force blood pressure too low, the effects of the cholesterol-lowering drugs, too many psychiatric drugs, and too many exposures to general anesthesia for mostly unwarranted surgical procedures. Look at the current horrible health of children, from autism to Type I diabetes to life-threatening allergies. Trace that to the serial poisoning of children by the known neuro- and immunotoxins in the dozens ofvaccines they are forced to take. The rest of us? We seem to see the doctor, and take more long-term drugs, than any previous generation, yet we are sicker than ever, mentally as well as physically! Nixon declared a War on Cancer in 1972. How's that working out?"

"There is a demand for more 'access' to 'health care,'" says Dr. Harte. "Perhaps we would be better off... healthier... with less access. 'Pre-existing conditions?' A lot of these pre-existing conditions are caused by medical care, and a lot could be at least partially resolved outside of medical care, particularly with chiropractic care, which allows the body to heal itself by liberating its master system, the nervous system."

"The assumption," Dr. Harte states, "is that Medicine is health care. The biological reality is that Medicine is sick care, not health care." Dr. Harte goes on, "the crux of the confusion is that we've been lead to believe that health is the absence of disease, or as an even more limited conception, the absence of serious disease, or of symptoms. ‘Hitler in a White Coat’ Stalks California, says Dr. Harte
