Domaine Carneros Debuts the Sparkling Elixir Sampler

Winery Introduces Inclusive Daily Flight Featuring Sonoma's Land & Local Botanical Elixirs Available as a Non-Alcoholic Sparkling Water Option or with Ultra Brut

NAPA, Calif., July 7, 2026 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Domaine Carneros has long delighted guests with inventive food and wine experiences that reflect the winery’s commitment to culinary craft and local ingredient sourcing. The newest addition to that tradition is the Sparkling Elixir Sampler, a daily tasting flight that pairs four all-natural, handcrafted botanical elixirs from Land & Local of Sonoma County for either a non-alcoholic option with San Pellegrino sparkling water, or with the acclaimed Ultra Brut sparkling wine. This new offering makes for a fully inclusive experience for every guest at the table.

Served tableside, the flight is priced at $35 with San Pellegrino or $50 with the Ultra Brut. The four elixirs, each crafted from locally sourced seasonal botanicals, are:

Blood Orange Fennel

Rose Cardamom Meyer Lemon

Hibiscus Tulsi Ginger

Elderflower Mint

The Sparkling Elixir Sampler is available as a standalone daily tasting option and can also be selected as a non-alcoholic alternative within any of the winery’s elevated experiences: Bubbles & Bites, Plat des Perles, Ultimate Carneros, and Ultimate Caviar.

A DEEPENING TRADITION OF ARTISAN COLLABORATION

The partnership with Land & Local joins a roster of celebrated local makers whose work has shaped the Domaine Carneros guest experiences over the years, among them Pete Seghesio of Journeyman Meats, Terri and Brook Penquette of Nova Terra Creamery, Anette Madsen Yazidi of Anette’s Chocolates, and Ali and Marai Bolourchi of Tsar Nicoulai Caviar.

Land & Local founder Kim LaVere brings eight years of botanical craft to the collaboration, grounding her formulas in Ayurvedic medicine, Western herbalism, and culinary training. About 85% of the herbs and fruits she uses are sourced within 50 miles of her Sonoma County production kitchen. Her mission is to reconnect beverages to their healing roots while centering the story of place. “Our partnership is about two high-quality products that complement each other and help tell a story of place together, from different perspectives,” she says. “And our products are inclusive: they work beautifully for people who are imbibing and for people who aren’t.”

WELCOMING EVERY GUEST AT THE TABLE

The non-alcoholic option reflects both the winery’s hospitality values and a meaningful consumer shift. According to a Wine Business Monthly article in July 2024, wellness tourism which includes “dry” tourism as well as alcohol drinkers who opt out occasionally, has seen a measurable increase, with nonalcoholic offerings expanding a brand’s reach and ensuring no one sits on the sidelines.

The Ultra Brut, a highly awarded offering in the Domaine Carneros portfolio, was chosen with thoughtful consideration as the sparkling wine part of the experience. Director of Marketing, Phoebe Ullberg stated, “Our driest sparkling wine, Ultra Brut, becomes even more nuanced and complex when accented with chef Kim LaVere’s local, all natural mixers – Blood Orange Fennel, Rose Cardamom Meyer Lemon, Hibiscus Tulsi Ginger and Elderflower Mint.”

AN EVER-EVOLVING GUEST EXPERIENCE

The Sparkling Elixir Sampler takes its place alongside a portfolio of distinctive offerings that reflect the winery’s sustained investment in the gustatory pleasures of its guests. Bubbles & Bites’ seasonally rotating global menus, the recently launched Scent & Savor: A Wine Tour of Aromas and Taste Transformations, The Art of Sabrage, Plat des Perles, Ultimate Carneros, and Ultimate Caviar together define a visitor experience as thoughtfully curated as the wines themselves.

Domaine Carneros Remembers Founding Winemaker and CEO Eileen Crane

NAPA, Calif., June 17, 2026 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Domaine Carneros shares with great sadness the passing of Eileen Crane, our founding winemaker, longtime CEO, and the woman who made Domaine Carneros what it is today. Anyone who spent time with Eileen quickly understood that her gifts went well beyond the cellar. She had sharp wit and quiet conviction. She was elegant and tough in the same breath, a born optimist with endless creativity and a natural instinct for mentorship. She poured everything she had into her work, and into the people around her.

Eileen Crane, founding winemaker and CEO of Domaine Carneros by Taittinger.
Image caption: Eileen Crane, founding winemaker and CEO of Domaine Carneros by Taittinger.

At eight years old, sitting at her family’s Sunday dinner table, she took her first sip of champagne and thought simply, “This is for me.” She never looked back. She earned a master’s degree in nutrition, trained at the Culinary Institute of America, and eventually made her way west to study enology and viticulture at UC Davis, where she was told outright by a male professor that a woman could never be a winemaker. She didn’t listen, and she kept going.

Her career reshaped American sparkling wine. After rising from tour guide to assistant winemaker at Domaine Chandon, she went on to build two prominent European sparkling wine houses in California, from the ground up, first at Gloria Ferrer, and then at Domaine Carneros, where the Taittinger and Kopf families entrusted her with launching their California sparkling wine house in 1987. Over 33 years as CEO, she led the winery with care and conviction.

From the start, the goal was Le Rêve, French for “the dream,” a Blanc de Blancs that she would later call her greatest triumph. She spent years developing the recipe, blending Chardonnay from the very best fruit of the vintage, finally landing on the blend with the 1992 vintage. To celebrate, Taittinger commissioned the ram’s head embossed bottle that has held the wine ever since. As Eileen described it, Le Rêve was meant to be “refined, understated elegance, nothing extraneous, everything brought together with a sense of effortless beauty. Think Audrey Hepburn in the little black dress.”

Eileen was a true steward of the land. She believed that caring for the earth was not separate from making great wine, it was the foundation of it. From the very beginning of her tenure in 1987, she championed sustainability in every corner of the winery, from the vineyards to the cellar to the way the operation was powered, long before such commitments were commonplace in the industry. She practiced natural pest management, composting, and water reuse. She was among the first winery leaders in California to embrace solar power, and when the array atop the pinot noir facility was installed in 2003, it was the largest on any winery in the world at the time. Years later, she led the build-out of a solar microgrid, the next step in renewable energy and resiliency, enabling the winery to keep running even when the power went out. Under her leadership, Domaine Carneros earned both the 2019 California Green Medal Business Award, one of only four wineries recognized annually, and certified sustainable status for the winery and vineyards. Her commitment to leaving the land better than she found it is one of the most enduring parts of her legacy.

Eileen’s vision for hospitality was as pioneering as her winemaking. Every visit was designed to be educational and immersive, guided by people who could tell the full story of the estate and the wines in the glass. She was among the first in California to build a wine club, creating a community of members who didn’t just buy the wine but belonged to the place. And she understood that great hospitality required great spaces. She opened the original château in 1987, one of the most recognizable wine country landmarks in California. In 2003, she added the pinot noir production facility and a dedicated wine club room, giving members a home at the estate. In 2018, she brought her vision full circle with the Jardin d’Hiver, a glass conservatory that became an instant landmark, a space as refined and alive as the wines she made.

Some of her most lasting work was on behalf of the women who came after her. A pioneer for women in the wine industry, she opened doors that had long been closed and then made sure others could walk through them. She took their calls, answered their questions, and gave them the guidance she hadn’t been offered herself. But to many of the women she mentored, she was simply the one who showed them it could be done. Author, wine educator and journalist Karen MacNeil dubbed her “the Doyenne of Sparkling Wine in America.”

Her influence ran just as deep inside Domaine Carneros. She set the standard for how the team works and how they treat each other, built an open-book culture, and instilled an expectation that never wavered: do the work well, and never lose sight of the people you serve.

“Eileen was Domaine Carneros,” said Erin Stauffer, Domaine Carneros’s chief sales and marketing officer who worked alongside Eileen for over fifteen years. “She built this place with her hands and her heart, and she shaped every one of us who had the privilege of working alongside her. Her standards live on in every bottle, every vine, every guest we welcome through these doors. We will miss her more than words can say.”

When commenting on Eileen’s vast contributions, Champagne Taittinger’s President Vitalie Taittinger shared on behalf of the Taittinger and Kopf families, “Forty-five years ago, when the Taittinger family embarked on creating Domaine Carneros, we knew that such an undertaking required a singular individual, someone capable of bringing together two cultures, two traditions and a shared pursuit of excellence. Eileen was that person. From the beginning, she understood that the ambition was not to reproduce champagne in California, but to reveal the unique expression of Napa Valley.

“Under her leadership, Domaine Carneros became deeply rooted in its own terroir and identity. The wines spoke for themselves: excellence without imitation, authenticity without compromise. At a time when few women held leadership positions in the wine world, Eileen Crane opened a path. She forged her own way with determination, conviction and an unwavering commitment to excellence, and she showed what leadership could look like for future generations. Those who knew her will remember her high standards, her clarity of vision and the respect she inspired.”

Eileen retired as CEO in the summer of 2020 and continued on as consulting winemaker, never far from the place she made her life’s work. Throughout her career, she also gave generously of her time outside the winery, serving the Carneros Wine Alliance, OLE Health, Collabria Care (now Providence Community Health), and Music in the Vineyards.

She leaves behind a remarkable legacy, and a winery family that loved her.

Contributions to Communicare+OLE, Providence Community Health formerly Collabria Care or Music in the Vineyards in Eileen’s honor would be welcomed.

NOTES:

[1] Sazón is a seasoned salt blend widely used in Latin Caribbean cooking particularly in Puerto Rican, Cuban, and Dominican cuisines. The name simply means “seasoning” in Spanish.

The classic blend typically includes cumin, coriander, garlic powder, oregano, and salt, but the defining ingredient that gives it its signature warm golden-orange color is annatto (achiote), a natural dye derived from the seeds of the annatto tree. Some versions also include turmeric.

Domaine Carneros Named Sustainable Business of the Year

Marks nearly four decades of environmental leadership as the winery celebrates Earth Day 2026

NAPA, Calif., April 8, 2026 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Earlier this year, Domaine Carneros Winery received the Sustainable Business of the Year award from the Napa Chamber of Commerce, presented by MCE Clean Energy, a not-for-profit public agency that has set the standard for clean energy in California since 2010. Domaine Carneros was founded by the Taittinger family nearly four decades ago with the conviction that the finest méthode traditionnelle sparkling wines begin with the healthiest land.

Since 1987, within the cool, fog-kissed Carneros AVA, the grower-producer winery has been committed to caring for the soil, the vines, and the people who tend to them as an inseparable part of crafting wines of the highest quality.

“When we installed our first solar array two decades ago, we were at the forefront of renewable energy adoption in the wine industry,” notes CEO Remi Cohen. “Today, our advanced microgrid technology represents the next generation of energy independence and environmental stewardship. As climate challenges intensify, Domaine Carneros continues its commitment to caring for the land as intentionally as we care for our wines, reducing our carbon footprint and raising the bar on renewable energy.”

REVOLUTIONARY MICROGRID TECHNOLOGY

In partnership with Schneider Electric who was named the world’s most sustainable company in 2025 by Time magazine, Domaine Carneros deployed the EcoStruxure™ Microgrid in 2023, doubling the winery’s energy generation capacity. The system integrates 614 upgraded solar panels generating 427 kilowatts of clean energy with a 250KVA battery backup and generator. This infrastructure ensures uninterrupted operations during increasingly common power outages due to wildfires and severe weather events, and the system stores excess solar energy generated during the day for use in the evenings or early mornings during peak demand.

The microgrid’s intelligent controls leverage AI to optimize energy usage in real time, resulting in significant operational benefits:

  • Self-generation of up to 70% of energy for winery operations
  • Annual savings of approximately $150,000
  • Ability to operate in “island mode” during grid outages
  • Solar power production of 740MWh in the last year, equivalent to taking 110 cars off the road

The system also powers four electric vehicle charging stations for guests, seamlessly integrating green technology throughout the visitor experience.

AWARD-WINNING ENVIRONMENTAL PRACTICES

Domaine Carneros’ comprehensive approach to sustainability has earned numerous prestigious recognitions, including:

  • 2025 Napa Chamber of Commerce Sustainable Business of the Year
  • 2025 RISE Leadership Award for Energy Efficiency and Savings
  • 2024 City of Napa Leadership Recycling Award
  • 2023 RISE Leadership Award for waste prevention and supply chain greening
  • 2020 Napa Climate NOW! Climate Champion in the Business Category
  • 2019 California Green Medal Business Award

The winery maintains multiple environmental certifications, including California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance, Napa Green Vineyard & Winery, Bay Area Green Business, and Fish Friendly Farming.

BEYOND ENERGY: COMPREHENSIVE SUSTAINABILITY

Domaine Carneros implements sustainability throughout its operations:

  • Diverting an average of 85% of solid waste from landfills through composting, recycling, and reuse
  • Recycling and reusing water used in production to irrigate estate vineyards
  • Reusing 25% of packaging materials annually, saving over 1.2 million pieces since 2010
  • Practicing Integrated Pest Management with owl boxes and beneficial cover crops
  • Composting approximately 450,000 pounds of food waste since 2013
  • Launching on-site grape pomace composting trials in 2025, expanding zero-waste ambitions to vineyard byproducts
  • Implementing lighter weight bottles to reduce shipping impacts
  • Offsetting carbon emissions from wine club shipment

“Domaine Carneros was built on a Taittinger family tenet rooted in their legendary commitment to estate ownership, that the finest wines begin with the healthiest land,” says CEO Remi Cohen. “That belief drives every decision we make in the vineyard and beyond, from how we manage water and energy to how we think about our responsibility to this land and our community.”

Domaine Carneros Celebrates 20 Years of Solar Leadership This Earth Day

Pioneer in Sustainable Winemaking Launches State-of-the-Art Microgrid, Further Cementing Environmental Leadership

NAPA, Calif., April 16, 2025 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — As Earth Day approaches on April 22, Domaine Carneros is raising a glass to a significant milestone: over two decades of pioneering solar energy in the wine industry. What began in 2003 as the world’s largest winery solar installation has evolved into a cutting-edge microgrid system that now provides nearly 80% of the winery’s energy needs while reducing carbon emissions by 375 metric tons of CO₂ annually, equivalent to powering 50 homes for a year.

Image caption: Microgrid Solar Panels – Domaine Carneros Winery 2025.

“When we installed our first solar array two decades ago, we were at the forefront of renewable energy adoption in the wine industry,” notes CEO Remi Cohen. “Today, our advanced microgrid technology represents the next generation of energy independence and environmental stewardship. As climate challenges intensify, Domaine Carneros continues its commitment to leading with a light footprint while crafting the highest quality wines.”

REVOLUTIONARY MICROGRID TECHNOLOGY

In partnership with Schneider Electric, named the world’s most sustainable company by Time magazine, Domaine Carneros deployed the EcoStruxure™ Microgrid in 2023, doubling the winery’s energy generation capacity.

  • Self-generation of nearly 80% of energy for winery operations
  • Annual savings of $70,000
  • Ability to operate in “island mode” during grid outages
  • Solar power production of 740MWh in the last year, equivalent to taking 110 cars off the road

The system also powers four electric vehicle charging stations for guests, seamlessly integrating green technology throughout the visitor experience.

AWARD-WINNING ENVIRONMENTAL PRACTICES

Domaine Carneros’ comprehensive approach to sustainability has earned numerous prestigious recognitions, including:

  • 2025 RISE Leadership Award for Energy Efficiency and Savings
  • 2024 City of Napa Leadership Recycling Award
  • 2023 RISE Leadership Award for waste prevention and supply chain greening
  • 2020 Napa Climate NOW! Climate Champion in the Business Category
  • 2019 California Green Medal Business Award

The winery maintains multiple environmental certifications, including California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance, Napa Green Vineyard & Winery, Bay Area Green Business, and Fish Friendly Farming.

BEYOND ENERGY: COMPREHENSIVE SUSTAINABILITY

Domaine Carneros implements sustainability throughout its operations:

  • Diverting approximately 90% of solid waste from landfills through composting, recycling, and reuse
  • Recycling and reusing water used in production to irrigate estate vineyards
  • Reusing 20-25% of packaging materials, saving over a million pieces since 2010
  • Practicing Integrated Pest Management with owl boxes and beneficial cover crops
  • Composting approximately 450,000 pounds of food waste since 2013
  • Implementing lighter weight bottles to reduce shipping impacts
  • Offsetting carbon emissions from wine club shipments

“Our commitment to environmental stewardship is fundamentally rooted in our estate vineyards under Allison Wilson’s visionary stewardship,” says Remi Cohen, CEO of Domaine Carneros. “This commitment is further demonstrated through two decades of solar energy innovation powering our winemaking, ensuring our tradition of excellence thrives sustainably for generations to come.”

ABOUT DOMAINE CARNEROS

Founded in 1987, Domaine Carneros reflects the hallmark of its founder, Champagne Taittinger, in creating terroir-driven sparkling wine and preserving the quality tenets of the traditional method production. Located entirely within the Carneros AVA, between Napa and Sonoma counties, the six estate vineyards total approximately 400 acres with one third of the acres planted to chardonnay and two thirds planted to pinot noir.

Domaine Carneros’ château has become a landmark and symbol of the region. The architecture and interior design were inspired by the 18th century Château de la Marquetterie, the historic Taittinger family residence in the Champagne region. Visitors to the chateau enjoy seated tastings of methode traditionelle sparkling wines and small-lot pinot noir in the elegant Jardin d’Hiver or on the broad terrace overlooking the rolling vineyards of Carneros. Domaine Carneros limited production wines are available onsite, via ecommerce, and are distributed nationally by Kobrand Corporation which, founded in 1944, remains one of the few family-owned wine and spirits companies in the United States.

The winery places a high value on preserving the environment and has taken on a vast array of environmental efforts. The roof of the pinot noir winery adjacent to the château hosts a solar array that was the largest on any winery in the world when it was installed and continues to be expanded with a state-of-the-art microgrid launched in 2023. The most recent award, one of many from federal, state, and local government; was the California Green Medal for Domaine Carneros’ demonstration of “Smart Business through efficiencies, cost savings and innovation from implementing sustainable practices.”

Domaine Carneros Celebrates Earth Day Every Day

NAPA, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- Adding to its multi-decade legacy of environmental stewardship, Domaine Carneros is pleased to share new initiatives that build upon its commitment to producing outstanding wine while continuously striving for best practices in sustainability. Installation of groundbreaking new microgrid technology in 2023 increased Domaine Carneros' commitment to renewable energy. In celebration, the winery is proud to release its first microgrid-powered wine, the 2023 Avant Garde Pinot Noir Rose, "Powered by The Sun." The wine will go on sale on the winery's website on April 22, Earth Day.

The winery's commitment to renewable energy began in 2003 when they installed the largest winery solar installation of its time. Twenty-one years later, the winery has 'amped up' its solar commitment by doubling its solar capacity and connecting to a state-of-the-art microgrid battery system which supplies the winery with approximately 75% of its energy needs. CEO Remi Cohen shares, "At Domaine Carneros, the battery bank becomes charged over the course of a day and the stored energy is utilized to offset peak energy times and can be used in the evenings and overnight. Additionally, the microgrid ensures an independent power source during natural disasters."

In an ongoing effort to safely reduce the weight of their sparkling wine glass while maintaining the structural integrity needed to withstand 70-90 psi pressures, Domaine Carneros has initiated use of a 7% lighter weight bottle while continuing to strive toward future reduction. Seeking a reduction in the impact of shipping those bottles, the winery partners with Wine Direct to ship its wine club shipments, all of which are carbon offset.

The appointment of Allison Wilson as Director of Vineyard Operations early in 2024 brings a wealth of expertise in sustainable farming to its 400 acres of estate vineyards in the Carneros AVA. She brings with her 15 years of experience in sustainable vineyard operations, much of it centered in the AVA she now tends.

From inception, the intention at Domaine Carneros has been to create the best wines and most memorable sparkling wine experiences through healthy land, vines, and people. For the 37 years since its founding, Domaine Carneros has held itself to a high standard with respect to sustainable practices to ensure that the winery lives as lightly on the land as possible while producing excellent grapes, and, of course, wine. Domaine Carneros has sought and received certifications from numerous prestigious sustainable organizations including California Certified Sustainable Winegrowers, Napa Green, Bay Area Green, and Fish Friendly Farming. Annual assessments and audits seek out new areas to improve upon rigorous standards of sustainability not only for the winery, but also for its place in the community and as an employer.

The winery implements the following measures towards continuous improvement:

* Re-use and recycling

* Through composting, recycling, and reuse, over 90% of solid waste is diverted from landfills.

* Water used in the production process is treated and used to irrigate the estate vineyards, saving millions of gallons per year

* A decade-long packaging reuse program, whereby 20-25% of cases and inserts are reused for in-house purposes.

Sustainability Practices

* Solar energy has long been a crucial aspect of Domaine Carneros' sustainability plan, having installed the largest solar collection system of any winery in the world when it was implemented in 2003. In 2023, Domaine Carneros was among the first wineries in the Napa Valley to install a solar microgrid and battery system, which supplies 75% of the winery's power, and ultimately allows the winery to be self-sustaining during power outages.

* The winery's use of skylights, building into the earth, and employing night cooling systems to maintain cellar temperatures all contribute to energy conservation as well as robust employee involvement in daily conservation efforts.

* The winery practices Integrated Pest Management using natural controls for vineyard pests such as boxes to attract owls which feed on voles and using cover crops that attract beneficial insects to control insect pests.

* Grape pomace from harvest is used to feed local cattle in a region of California with historic ties to the dairy business.

Commitment to Employees

* Domaine Carneros holds strong principles of diversity, equity and inclusion, and its staff is reflective of that commitment.

* Through a practice of open book management, employees are inspired and invited to be an integral part of collective success.

* The winery fosters and encourages mentorship for its staff and embraces professional development in the broader wine industry in the form of scholarship offerings and a fellowship.

The winery has been awarded several prestigious honors from the state of California and other well-respected organizations. In April 2023, the winery received the RISE Leadership Award for outstanding waste prevention and greening of its supply chain. In 2020, the winery received the Napa Climate NOW! award for being a Climate Champion in the Business Category. The winery also received the California Green Medal Business Award in 2019 for "demonstrating smart business through efficiencies, cost savings, and innovation from implementing sustainable practices." Only four wineries are awarded the medal each year, so the honor is quite significant given the number of wineries in the state.

Domaine Carneros has been a Bay Area Green Business since 2014, Fish Friendly Farming certified since 2015, Napa Green Vineyard & Winery since 2014 and is Certified by the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance since 2015.

Domaine Carneros Celebrates Sustainability for Earth Day 2023 – PowerFlex Microgrid represents Next Generation of Solar Power

NAPA, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- Earth Day 2023 brings a vibrant green to the terrain and vineyards of Domaine Carneros as the 2022-23 winter rains have provided much needed relief from the past five years of draught in California. 2023 will mark a significant advance in the winery's record of sustainability when a new solar microgrid and battery system comes online, providing the winery over 75% energy independence. Since its founding in 1987, Domaine Carneros has put sustainability initiatives at the forefront of their daily practices, consistently working to minimize their environmental impact as true stewards of the land.

The intention at Domaine Carneros is to create the best wines and most memorable sparkling wine experiences through healthy land, vines, and people. For the 36 years since its founding, Domaine Carneros has pushed the sustainability envelope to ensure that the winery lives as lightly on the land as possible while producing excellent grapes, and, of course, wine. In pursuit of the highest standards, Domaine Carneros has sought and received certifications from numerous prestigious sustainable organizations. Annual assessments and audits seek out new areas to improve upon rigorous standards of sustainability not only for the winery, but also for its place in the community and as an employer.

The winery implements the following measures towards continuous improvement:

Re-use and recycling

* Through composting, recycling, and reuse, over 90% of solid waste is diverted from landfills.

* Water used in the production process is recycled and used to irrigate the estate vineyards.

In 2023, Domaine Carneros will be among the first wineries in the Napa Valley to install a solar microgrid and battery system, which will supply 75% of the winery's power, and ultimately allow the winery to be self-sustaining during power outages.

* The winery has strong principles of diversity, equity and inclusion, and its staff is reflective of that commitment.

* The winery practices open book management, inspiring all employees to be a part of a collective success.

* The winery fosters and encourages mentorship for its staff and embraces professional development beyond the team in the form of scholarship offerings and a fellowship.

Domaine Carneros has been a Bay Area Green Business since 2014, Fish Friendly Farming certified since 2015, Napa Green Land & Winery since 2014 and Certified California Sustainable Winegrowing since 2015.

Looking towards the future, CEO Remi Cohen reiterated the foundations of the winery's philosophy which she is carrying forward, "Domaine Carneros has always been a leader in thoughtful winemaking and vineyard management, looking towards furthering our sustainability practices and initiatives. As we meet new climate challenges, the winery will always look to be a leader with a light footprint as well as a strong investment in the future of its team and the industry."

Tim Rowe named Vineyard Manager at Domaine Carneros

NAPA, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- As harvest kicks off in Napa this week, Domaine Carneros Winery is pleased to announce the appointment of Tim Rowe, seasoned viticultural expert with over a decade of impressive positions within the California wine industry, to the position of Vineyard Manager. Succeeding Alberto Zamora, who is retiring after a 40-year career in the wine industry, ten of which were spent transforming the vineyards at Domaine Carneros, Rowe states that his new position is a viticulturist's dream.

"With 400 acres in the Carneros AVA encompassing a diversity of clones and rootstocks, the estate vineyards are like a living laboratory," he notes. Rowe looks forward to working with the winemaking team to nuance the different clonal expressions in the wines. "The opportunity to manage six estate vineyards all within a few miles of the winery, which Alberto and the winery's dedicated team have cultivated with care and nurturing, is a labor of love and an incredible opportunity to go deep with my knowledge base."

During Zamora's tenure, he was instrumental in the acquisition of the Tula Vista (2012) and Las Amigas (2016) vineyards, and he also replanted 50% of the winery's vineyard holdings. Of retiring, he stated "I'm leaving the vineyards in a better, more sustainable place. I worked hard to achieve Napa Green, Fish Friendly Farming, and California Certified Sustainable Winegrowing certifications."

Rowe joins a team, under the leadership of CEO Remi Cohen, that is dedicated not only to sound environmental practices, but also to employee engagement and development. Of the new position, he shared that the dedicated vineyard team will allow him to nurture the career goals of the individuals who make up the crew. This aligns with the prevailing philosophy held by CEO Cohen and her management team which is to support, mentor, and cultivate from within the company. Commenting on Rowe's hire, she stated "We benefited so much from the contributions of Alberto over the past decade, and as we look ahead, Tim is the ideal fit to take us into the future, building on a superb foundation."

Prior to Domaine Carneros, Rowe, a native Kansan who graduated with an agricultural degree from the University of Missouri, worked with the vineyard management team run by Kirk Grace at the famed Stag's Leap Wine Cellars in the Napa Valley. Following that, he expanded his knowledge of California AVAs working for LVMH, focusing on the 2,000 acres of vineyards for the Domaine Chandon and Newton brands. Next, joining the innovative Monarch Tractor team as its tenth employee working to introduce the world's first electric self-driving tractor brought Rowe into the future of farming.

His well-rounded experience dovetails with the forward-thinking mentality of the team at Domaine Carneros. Of joining the team, he stated "I was always impressed by the iconic nature of this winery, and its reputation for producing among the best domestic sparkling wines preceded it. I look forward to taking the vineyards to the next level in quality and best practices."

The winery focuses on making ultra-premium Carneros sparkling wines and limited production Pinot Noirs.

Domaine Carneros' château has become a landmark and symbol of the region. The architecture and interior design were inspired by the 18th century Château de la Marquetterie, the historic Taittinger family residence in the Champagne region. Visitors to the chateau enjoy seated tastings of methode traditionelle sparkling wines and small-lot pinot noir in the elegant Jardin d'Hiver or on the broad terrace overlooking the rolling vineyards of Carneros.
