‘My Ripple Effect’ Inspires Everyday Heroes: New Faith Film Starring Dean Cain, Kevin Sorbo and Eddie McClintock Premieres April 1

TAMPA, Fla., March 27, 2026 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — What if the smallest act of kindness could change the world? That’s the question at the heart of “My Ripple Effect,” a bold new faith and family film from JC Films and Joshuacord – hitting screens this week and starring fan favorites Dean Cain, Kevin Sorbo, Eddie McClintock and Michael Sigler.

“My Ripple Effect” follows a recently divorced dad (Dean Cain) who encounters a mysterious man named Raphael (Kevin Sorbo) at an abandoned church, and discovers his life has far more meaning than he ever imagined. Together with his best friend (Eddie McClintock), he embarks on a journey that reveals how ordinary people and everyday moments can create long‑lasting, generational impact.

This isn’t just a movie about characters on a screen. It’s a story about all of us – parents, students, pastors and neighbors – who wonder if our small efforts really make a difference, and what God can do with one obedient “yes.” By the end of this story, viewers will question not just ‘What if?’ but, ‘What if God uses this moment to change my world?’”

The film is the product of a unique partnership between Jason Campbell, writer, director and executive producer at JC Films, and Patrick Carberry, founder of Joshuacord, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness and support for persecuted Christians around the world.

“My Ripple Effect” follows ordinary people whose everyday choices set off extraordinary waves of change – a timely reminder that no act of faith, courage or compassion is ever wasted.

For Carberry, the message is personal.

“We all impact each other for good or for evil,” he says. “This film is an invitation. Your prayers, your voice and your giving are ripples that reach people you may never meet, especially our persecuted brothers and sisters around the world, reminding them that they are seen, known, and deeply loved.”

Carberry founded Joshuacord 15 years ago to shine a light on the ongoing persecution of Christians globally. The organization’s previous film, “Christians in the Mirror” (2019), featured on-the-ground interviews with persecuted believers and religious leaders in Syria, India, Iraq, South Sudan and Egypt.

“We want our Christian brothers and sisters in the Middle East, Asia and Africa to know they are not alone,” says Paul Jallo, president of Jallo Oil and senior vice president of Joshuacord, who also serves as Executive Producer of the film alongside Campbell. “God has given me more than I deserve, and I want to pay it forward with ‘My Ripple Effect.’”

The film’s message echoes the famous words often attributed to Irish statesman Edmund Burke: “Evil prevails when good men do nothing.” Campbell and Carberry see this as a call to purpose. They believe audiences are ready to move beyond watching from the sidelines and begin responding with prayer, conversation and faithful steps that create real change, one ripple at a time.

“My Ripple Effect” will be available on The Trinity Broadcasting Network, YouTube’s Christian Movies channel and major streaming platforms including Amazon and Hulu.

EKC PR Client Michael Naizu’s Film ‘Bound For Glory,’ Starring Janel Parrish, Named Finalist in Gold House’s AAPI Renaissance Rally

LOS ANGELES, Calif., July 10, 2025 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Janel Parrish (“Pretty Little Liars,” “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before”) will star in the feature adaptation of “Bound For Glory,” an emotionally resonant indie drama from rising AAPI filmmaker Michael Naizu, EKC PR announced today.

Bound For Glory, an upcoming indie feature from EKC PR client Michael Naizu
Image caption: “Bound For Glory,” an upcoming indie feature from EKC PR client Michael Naizu, starring Janel Parrish and named a finalist in the Gold House AAPI Renaissance Rally.

After its short-film version was licensed to JoySauce, a platform for Asian-American storytelling, the project is now green-lit and begins production this September in Los Angeles and Pittsburgh.

Naizu (“Christmas Is Canceled,” “Hacks”) makes his directorial feature debut and co-directs with his brother John Wilcox, who shot and edited the original short. Their aim: a grounded, artfully shot film about creative survival, cultural identity, and reinvention in modern Los Angeles.

Named a Finalist in the Gold House AAPI Renaissance Rally with Seed&Spark, “Bound For Glory” stands out in the push to amplify nuanced, character-driven Asian-American stories rarely explored by Hollywood.

Produced by PinkHouse Productions, the film blends the soul of “Swingers,” “Good Will Hunting,” and “Perfect Days.” At its core lies a semi-autobiographical tale of a struggling artist forced to choose between compromising his voice for success or risking everything to tell the story that might save him. It’s part love letter, part breakup note to Hollywood.

Charlie Waddell is Executive Producer. Michael Naizu, Derik Young, and Redd Coltrane produce, with MLB analyst Sean Casey and Katy & Julia Wu as co-producers. The film is financed entirely outside the traditional studio system.

Parrish brings her signature wit and authenticity to Ariella Graves, a woman forging her own path beyond her father’s shadow. Bound For Glory promises to be one of the year’s most emotionally honest and timely indies.

Janel Parrish: “So happy to be working with Michael Naizu again, this time to tell his beautiful and compelling story. It means so much to collaborate with AAPI storytellers and help bring narratives to life that reflect who we are and why representation matters.”

Michael Naizu: “This is a story I’ve wanted to tell my whole life—deeply personal, rooted in my search for identity and purpose in a cut-throat industry. Making it now with my brother John, best friend Derik, and Janel Parrish brings everything full circle. With Bound For Glory backed by trailblazer Gold House, I can’t wait to roll cameras and bring this story to life.”

Michael Naizu is repped by Luber Roklin Entertainment. Janel Parrish is repped by Innovative Artists and Authentic Management.

‘In a Pickle’ is the First Feature Film that Serves up Laughter and Love for the Pickleball Community, Releasing Summer 2024

LOS ANGELES, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- Dink Productions today announced the upcoming production of "In a Pickle: A Comedy. With Balls," the first ever full-length feature film about the fastest growing sport in the U.S., pickleball. The brainchild of former tennis player turned pickleball enthusiast, Dan Brooks, and Jason Reid, one of the leading builders of tennis and pickleball courts across Florida, the film promises to captivate audiences with its unique blend of humor, heart, and sportsmanship.

"In a Pickle" marks a significant and timely milestone as the first feature-length movie dedicated entirely to pickleball. This lighthearted and entertaining film aims to showcase the joy and camaraderie of the sport, and its competition with tennis. It will be a must-watch for both pickleball enthusiasts and newcomers alike, combining comedy, a little bit of romance and a whole lot of pickleball puns.

Written by Dan Brooks, Joel Boyd and Jason Reid, the film has a completed script and is currently in the pre-production stage. It's already generating buzz within the industry.

Dan, a professional filmmaker, creative, and story-teller, and Jason, music and film producer, author and serial entrepreneur, have seen and experienced the rise of the sport from different perspectives. The passionate and diverse community it supports, as well as the competition for space between pickleball and tennis they have witnessed, are the inspiration behind this movie. Adding a special touch to 'In a Pickle' is acclaimed comedy writer, actor, and director Joel Boyd, whose witty and relatable humor infuses the storyline with an extra layer of entertainment.

"I loved pickleball as a game from the moment I first picked up a paddle at one of the game's iconic sites, the original Chicken Pickle in Kansas City. But it's the community - in all its wild color and variety - that I really love. And one I wanted to show my gratitude for by doing what I do best, creating humorous and relatable content. Plus the world needs more sports comedies!" says Dan Brooks.

Writer Joel Boyd says: "As a comedian and writer I'm always observing social questions. So what attracted me to this project, besides the sport's obvious rising popularity, is that it is about tradition. And it asks the question 'when is it time to examine traditions, and do they make sense to stay exactly the same for future generations?' The story is multi-generational, hilarious, and perfectly in the zeitgeist because it asks these questions in an authentic, fun way."

The team is diligently preparing to bring this hilarious story to life, and "In a Pickle" will be filmed in Charlotte, N.C., where the movie is located, and is set to begin production in Spring 2024, with the movie set to be in theaters by the fall!

FYC’s ‘The Next Big Hit’ – a martial arts musical comedy and micro-budget film, has been included in the big list of SAG and Oscars Awards

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- Mark your calendars for Dec. 15, 2023, as Laemmle in Town Center 5 Encino is proud to present a film that is set to be nothing less than awe-inspiring. "The Next Big Hit" is a masterpiece that promises to inspire you to think outside the box and embrace originality, says director Zak Lee Guarnaccia, and founder of production company LightRow Productions, LLC. It is a diverse cross-genre marvel that combines martial arts, music, and comedy into a unique and spectacular experience.

Zak Lee Guarnaccia's 40+ years of experience in the entertainment industry from Italy to the USA has culminated in this awe-inspiring creation.

"My brainchild film is driven by the unyielding pursuit of my creative vision, which is reflected in my unique martial arts musical comedy. I fearlessly take risks, push boundaries, and break new ground. I always aim for the stars, and eventually, I'll land on the moon!" said Zak Lee Guarnaccia.

Zak embarked on this mission to bring one of his creations to life after over 3 decades. After having an epiphany in Rome, Italy, in 1985, this actor, stuntman, and executive producer at LightRow Productions, LLC has been driven by the challenge of doing what has never been done before. He finds the same rush of excitement as an adrenaline junkie and is eager to share his passion with the world, believing that audiences are ready for something new and exciting.

"The Next Big Hit" is an action-packed comedy about a down-and-out stuntman and his flamboyant, high-strung movie-producer cousin on the run from a loan shark.

Their luck changes when they create the world's first martial arts musical, but making a masterpiece requires a hilarious buddy story. The film combines martial arts, mobster, action, musicals, and LGBTQ+ themes for a fresh take on cinema. Despite a microscopic budget, this action musical genre is just the beginning.

The film boasts an impressive talent cast, which includes:

* Zak Lee Guarnaccia (Red Notice, Barry, Judas and The Black Messiah, Live By Night, and The Morning Show).

* Cerina Vincent (Cabin Fever, A Disney TV series Stuck in the Middle, Not Another Teen Movie, Power Rangers Lost Galaxy).

* Perry Anzilotti (Gang-Related, Crossworlds, Bean).

* Marlyn Mason, a veteran talent who starred in one of Elvis Presley's final films and the critically acclaimed 70s series, working alongside James Franciscus and Bruce Lee.

* Pat Battistini directs a hilarious comedy based on Zak's vision with a dash of Italian attitude for spice.

This indie micro-budget film made it to the list for a possible nomination for the Oscars and SAG Awards. Although Zak doesn't have any expectations, it's great to know that the Academy Members and SAG Nomination Committee are watching the film. This concept that blends multiple genres is unique and has the potential to become a franchise.

NJ Film Creator Exposes Wrongful Conviction: Documentary Calls for Justice in Alabama

ROSELLE, N.J. /ScoopCloud/ -- An independent African-American filmmaker with a relentless pursuit of the truth and justice, Jean Adam, Jr., has produced a stunning documentary that makes a powerful case: an Alabama white woman has been unjustly imprisoned for 30 years.

In "Finding Betty," a four-year project of filmmaker Jean Adam, Jr. (releasing his 80-minute documentary today) makes an overwhelming argument that Betty Wilson was wrongly convicted of murder conspiracy involving the death of her husband (Dr. Jack Wilson) in the early 90's in Huntsville, Alabama. The documentary provides incredibly meticulous research and a step-by-step examination of the many holes in the prosecution's case. It is a powerful call to action for Wilson to be set free.

In this murder-for-hire case, the principal witness in the case (James White) claimed Betty Wilson hired him to kill Dr. Wilson. However, White actually recanted his testimony years later. Remarkably, Betty Wilson's twin sister (Peggy Lowe), was also charged with murder conspiracy in the case, and was acquitted in a separate trial. Substantial evidence presented in Peggy's case, which showcased a light on Betty's innocence and undoubtedly helped lead to her acquittal, was not presented in her twin's trial.

"I have made this film my life's mission because it calls into question the integrity of the justice system itself," said Adam. "I won't give up until justice is done. We must show compassion for those suffering from injustice and create more awareness of injustice to prevent such unfairness from ever happening again."

Wilson, who speaks directly about the case in the film in candid and eye-opening interviews, calls Adam "her angel."

Adam contends the Alabama jury nearly 30 years ago was unduly influenced by the revelation Betty Wilson, a white woman, had a sexual affair with a black man. Adams explores the racial overtones in the trial.

"This was a passion project and I can see it reflected in the outcome," said actor/film editor Jolon Franklin.

The documentary presents graphic photos of the crime scene and makes use of re-creations to enhance the understanding of the trial. Adam hopes the movie will be a driving force for Wilson's acquittal.

Mo Brooks, an Alabama congressman since 2011, was one of the case's prosecutors.

You can rent "Finding Betty" for $3.99 or buy it for $9.99 on these streaming platforms: YouTube TV, Apple TV, and Amazon Prime Video. Just search "Finding Betty." Anyone with access to the Google Play Store or Apple's iTunes Store can purchase the product from their tablet, computer or phone.

Zero Budget Indie Film ‘Night, Mother’ scores 3 Webby Nominations

LOS ANGELES, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- "Night, Mother," the "hybrid" feature film from Executive Producer Sheila Houlahan, is an Official Nominee of the 2022 Webby Awards in the following 3 Virtual and Remote Categories: Media & Entertainment, Technical Achievement, and Best Audience Integration.

Filmed in 2021 on Twitch.tv during the height of the pandemic, this daring new "hybrid-film" merged cutting edge audience integration and live performances with traditional cinematic media, all while curating accessible/equitable mental health resources and LMHC on-call moderators for all audience members.

A post-film panel discussion centered on mental health and suicide prevention with notable panelists such as Khleo Thomas (Holes) and Eve Crevoshay, Executive Director of "Take This."

"I wanted to ensure that our audience was taken care of while being exposed to incredibly triggering content," said Executive Producer Sheila Houlahan. "Twitch.tv gives filmmakers access to dialoguing with audience members in real time, and it only made sense that we'd have resources/cool-down rooms/LMHC providers available to any and all who would need them."

As a zero-budget production, "Night, Mother" is an astonishing contender in the company of fellow nominees such as: Call of Duty, Blumhouse, Paramount, and HBO Max.

"I can't believe this is happening! What a dream it is to see a narrative about suicide next to some of the greatest names in media today," stated Houlahan in response to the nominations.

Winners of The Webby Awards will be announced on April 26, 2022 and the ceremony will take place on May 16, 2022 in New York City.

Los Angeles-Based Minority Director, Lakpathy Wijesekara’s Feature Film ‘Free By Noon’ To Hit Theaters In October

LOS ANGELES, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- Los Angeles-based, Sri Lankan filmmaker, Lakpathy Wijesekara's latest feature film "Free By Noon" starring John Eisen, Raechel Wong, Justine Herron and Melissa Howell will be theatrically released in Los Angeles from October 15 to October 21, 2021 at the Laemmle theater in Glendale.

According to UCLA's Hollywood Diversity Report 2020, only 14.4% of directors of theatrical films represent people of color. Alarmingly, only 3.4% were directors of Asian origin in 2019.

"L" - Lakpathy Wijesekara has Sri Lankan roots, a tiny island on the coast of India. His last cinematic endeavor was a Virtual Reality film from a newborn's perspective about Child Laundering.

"Free By Noon" has a truly diverse cast and a crew. Not one or two but seven different languages were spoken on the "Free By Noon" set.

"Free By Noon" is about a married man who tries to have some "extra" fun in Las Vegas, where he gets locked up in a very unusual situation. He has to get himself out of this quirky situation to save his marriage before his wife gets home.

"I felt like this was a unique Hollywood Film and a really good human drama done with a small plot," said Mr. Aruna Gunarathna, Editor of Sarasaviya newspaper, a trade magazine equivalent of Hollywood Reporter / Variety in Sri Lanka.

The film was shot on an Arri Alexa camera with a single Anamorphic lens.

Once the film is screened at the Glendale Laemmle theater from Oct. 15-21, 2021, the filmmakers plan to take it to New York, Texas and Atlanta and screen it in Sri Lanka as well.

Sussman-Hoyt PROductions’ Wildomar Movie Ranch Brings A Major Film Production to The Inland Empire

WILDOMAR, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- SAG Production Comes to Wildomar! Surprisingly, in the midst of a pandemic when most businesses are operating in limited capacities or closed altogether, Wildomar Movie Ranch continues to develop partnerships with film producers to bring projects to Wildomar and Lake Elsinore areas of the Inland Empire.

Last month, as a result of Sussman-Hoyt PROductions' efforts, Wildomar and Lake Elsinore became hosts to a tightly controlled COVID-compliant, closed set SAG Hollywood film production. A recognized, award-winning-actress-turned-director, Jamie Anderson, was up against a tight deadline and had exhausted her search for ideal properties near LA to film her sitcom pilot. Along came Wildomar Movie Ranch!

Three properties offered by Sussman and Hoyt created the variety, immediacy, affordability, and privacy needed to complete the large 40-member cast/crew production and prepare it for anxious investors eager to fund the pilot in hopes of creating enough buzz to launch the series.

All this would not have been possible without the accommodating services provided by Sussman-Hoyt PROductions and their Wildomar Movie Ranch.

"They (Sussman and Hoyt) were so lovely and willing to do what it took to just make it work," Anderson said.

The Wildomar Movie Ranch locations were ideal and found in the nick of time plus Sussman and Hoyt offered local resources and amenities for the cast and crew from local restaurants, hotels, and other vendors so the production could continue as planned, on schedule, and under budget.

"We were pleased to have done our part to bring revenue to our local businesses, especially those hurt hard financially this year," said Hoyt.

Sussman passionately added, "And we do whatever it takes to prove that southwest Riverside county has the right stuff for the entertainment industry to produce its next projects right here. Wildomar Movie Ranch has other unique properties like caves, rivers, ranches and historic structures for filming. The region has the affordability and qualified talent. Plus, we have the added benefit of a professionally engineered sound studio and green screen room to create a world of possibilities. What else do you need?"

Endorsed by the local communities and the Riverside Film Commission, Sussman-Hoyt PROductions continues to build upon their one-stop-shop business model and is staking their reputation on being southwest Riverside County's premier, client-based, world-class service entertainment production company - whether small indie film productions, music producers, or as proven last month, top level SAG productions.

From feature and short films, documentaries, podcasts, commercials, vignettes, event commemorations, to set designs and full-scale music productions, recordings, arrangements, mixing, and compositions, Sussman-Hoyt PROductions, Inc. delivers a client-centric approach and multiple service options to accommodate most sized projects and budgets.

About Wildomar Movie Ranch:

Wildomar Movie Ranch is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sussman-Hoyt Productions, Inc. (S-Hp), a California based corporation founded by CK Sussman (CEO) and LE Hoyt (COO) - two seasoned professionals with back lot film studio and LA music studio work to their credits. Both Sussman and Hoyt are experienced musicians and industry professionals, with independent proven track records as successful business owners and entrepreneurs.

Christian Film Producers Target Audiences in Digital Spaces

TAMPA, Fla. /ScoopCloud/ -- "Christians in the Mirror," a first-of-its-kind independent documentary produced by Joshuacord, Inc. and In Altum Productions, takes a hard look at how America and the West have not been very involved in the global persecution of Christians. The producers say they're creating a social media marketing plan for this indie film that interviews Christians from the Middle East, Africa and Asia.

Paul Jallo, president, Jallo Oil Distributors, and one of the film's major benefactors and executive producer, says that they hope to reach new audiences, nationally and internationally. They're hopeful that this new social media campaign will create momentum, encourage viewers to download the film, view it and share it.

It's the hope of the film's executive team that "Christians in the Mirror" will activate Christians across America to stand united to help those under persecution for their faith. Whether it prompts people to volunteer, donate or spread the message, the desired outcome is more recognition and support about the importance of religious freedom.

"Christians in the Mirror" includes interviews with religious leaders and persecuted Christians in Syria, India, Iraq, South Sudan and Egypt. Ultimately, it's a wake-up call for people to help.

"We want our Christian brothers and sisters in the Middle East, Asia and Africa to know that they're not alone and to encourage all who believe in human rights, religious freedom and freedom of conscience to step up and speak out," Jallo says.

This social media campaign is designed to build awareness and to drive audiences to view the film on select web platforms.

"We have much to be thankful for as we move into the Christmas season," Patrick Carberry, founder of Joshuacord and film co-executive producer, says. "We have religious freedom in the West. Many others in the world do not. I ask for everyone's prayers and support for the persecuted church by watching our film 'Christians in the Mirror.'"

Aaron Ozee Secures Agreement with Production Studio Filming ‘Regulus’ Movie

CHICAGO, Ill. /ScoopCloud/ -- Aaron Ozee, the author of bestselling children's book, "Regulus" (ISBN: 9781387010790), has sold the production rights from his notable creation to a prominent stop-motion animation studio that will adapt "Regulus" into an unorthodox theatrical feature. "Regulus" was released through Lulu Press, being the lead self-publishing house that coordinated the launch of the famed tale, and has entranced the global literary community for the past three years.

"Regulus" has secured praise from iconic celebrities, has produced custom merchandise for younger audiences such as video games or plush animals, has entertained influential political figures, and has touched unreachable locations such as space.

Readers everywhere have remained patient for "Regulus" to be reimagined for the big screen but have only heard rumors as the legend circulating this prodigious book keeps growing larger than anyone could have ever pictured. Ivan Rodriguez, leader of the animation team coordinating the production of the film, has instructed his talented ensemble of artists to construct the movie with bewildering notions.

"Rather than becoming another theatrical feature that people will forget in a week once they have seen it for the first time, 'Regulus' will soon become a film that people will remember for generations. We are pursuing an experimental direction that will use loving music, unique sound effects, illustrious scenery, manuscript passages, and character movement in order to convey the progression of the storyline," said Ozee during the first announcement of the film.

Production on the film has been scheduled for completion at the end of February, but the official release month of "Regulus" has been disclosed as July 2020.

The premiere of "Regulus" has been arranged for the same month as the release of the film and will be privately hosted in Chicago for national media, crew members, family, and friends to see the first screening. Following midnight of the Chicago premiere, Ozee has informed fans the film will be launched on streaming services and video-on-demand services for rental or purchase.

Future announcements will be shared about which streaming services or video-on-demand services will make "Regulus" available but should be disclosed once production on the film has wrapped.

"Being someone that appreciates catching new movies when they reach theaters, hosting the premiere in my hometown of Chicago was the meaningful choice. However, there has always been something about movies that are distributed using the means of the virtual universe which fascinates me. The reason for distributing this film through streaming services or video-on-demand services comes from the need to be relevant and remain accessible to consumers worldwide," said Ozee during the first announcement of the film.

Animated Horror Indie Launches Crowdfund

Malevolent

LOS ANGELES, Calif., Feb. 19, 2016 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Coverage Ink Films, producers of the animated horror thriller "Malevolent" have launched an IndieGogo campaign. The goal is to reach $45K for finishing funds. The film stars Ray Wise ("Twin Peaks," "Robocop"), Morena Baccarin ("Deadpool," "Gotham," "Firefly"), Bill "Choptop" Moseley ("The Devil's Rejects," "Texas Chainsaw Massacre II") and sci-fi legend William Shatner ("Star Trek," "Boston Legal").

"Malevolent" combines horror and sci-fi into an original, time-twisting concoction. The producers describe the movie as "SAW meets Groundhog Day." The entirely hand-drawn, 2-D movie is being designed by renowned fantasy artist Carl Frank ("Dungeons & Dragons, Magic: the Gathering"). It is one of, if not the first, U.S.-produced animated horror feature films.

In "Malevolent," a young woman (Dani Lennon, FearNet/Machinima's "BITE ME") and her siblings are summoned by their dying industrialist father (Wise) ostensibly to discuss his will. But what he has in mind is far more sinister -- if he's going down, he's taking everyone else out with him. The wrinkle -- a race of inter-dimensional gamblers, led by Baccarin's Gamemaster, wager on the outcome -- and they have the ability to manipulate time to change the playing field as they see fit. Shatner's "Overseer" calls the match. "Malevolent" is a bloody genre-bender.

"We're honored and excited to be working with such talented stars whose performances we've followed for years," says executive producer and co-creator Tanya Klein. "We're really looking forward to delivering a unique visual horror experience for fans of action, horror, graphic novels and cinephiles of all types. 'Malevolent' is our sick and twisted little baby; we want to nurture it and give it the best -- and then unleash it into the world to create havoc."

The unique plot and style drew the attention of iconic sci-fi/horror stars. "I'm the big cheese in this one," says Wise, whose recent credits include "Agent Carter" and "How I Met Your Mother." "I play the dying billionaire industrialist who has a family that he's, well, not too fond of (laughs)."

"What drew me to this project was how dark it was -- this idea that we could be finger puppets, that somebody could be up there wreaking chaos on our lives," says Baccarin, currently starring in #1 movie in the U.S. - "Deadpool." "I'm really looking forward to 'Malevolent,'" adds Wise. "I think it's going to be groundbreaking."

"Our goal is to make these amazing, elevated movies for everyone," says executive producer and co-creator Jim Cirile, "with a serious undercurrent of geek. And we're so stoked to be working with such an amazing cast and team. That said, making something this ambitious has tapped out our internal financing. So now it's time to rally the troops to help get us over the finish line. And in return, we've got something pretty awesome for everyone."

The "Malevolent" 30-day IndieGogo campaign seeks $45K, which will allow Coverage Ink Films to hire the animation resources, sound designer and composer necessary to deliver the film in 2016. The film employs a team of 25 artists, colorists and animators around the world.

"Malevolent" is directed by Jason Axinn ("Starpocalypse") and produced by Cindi Rice ("Xombie," "Dragons of Autumn Twilight," "Knights of Bloodsteel") and Paige Barnett ("Bite Me," "The Continuum," "Interns").

"Malevolent" is anticipated for completion late 2016.

Production company Coverage Ink Films is an offshoot of Coverage Ink, a leading independent screenplay/analysis development service founded in 2002.

"We're all about indie empowerment," says Cirile. "You can make great movies without a lot of money. You just have to take the time to get the script right. That's what Coverage Ink is all about. And in this case, we need a little help from our friends. But the results will definitely be worth it. "
