Lexus of Englewood Launches New LS 500

ENGLEWOOD, N.J. /ScoopCloud/ -- The latest Lexus LS was unveiled at Lexus of Englewood Thursday, April 19 in a spectacular Launch Event attended by hundreds of the dealership's customers and employees. The LS 500, LS 500 F-Sport and Hybrid versions were center stage in the Bergen County, New Jersey showroom surrounded by music, spotlights and incredible food catered by the famous River Palm Terrace.

Carmine DeMaio, Dealer Principal, said that designing a brand-new automobile demands a new way of thinking.

"It takes time, too," said DeMaio. "This is the fifth generation LS, a car that was at the heart of the successful Lexus introduction to America nearly 30 years ago. Through the decades the market for luxury cars has evolved. Now, there are the technical and emotional factors to consider. This new LS 500 is truly an emotionally appealing vehicle and has breakthrough safety features. It's as close to driving an auto show concept car as you can get!"

During the formal presentation a wealth of new aesthetic enhancements were demonstrated. The unique design elements such as the special Kiriko cut glass inlays and the origami inspired door panels speak boldly of the fact that the LS is a luxury car with a deep Japanese culture.

Spokesmodel Risa Benson said: "Affluent consumers are attracted to peak experiences and sensory stimulation. They are inspired by creativity and design and have high expectation of their relationship with brands. The new Lexus LS is the total package!"

Mark DeMaio, President of Lexus of Englewood said: "It's the driving dynamic that I like most about the new Lexus." Suggesting that he's as happy being the driver behind the new LS 500's twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter V-6 wheel as enjoying the right rear reclining seat with the Ottoman feature.

All four LS seats offer an array of pneumatic bladders that inflate and deflate to replicate Japanese shiatsu massage techniques.

Chris Vassallo, General Sales Manager for Lexus of Englewood said that the new LS shows how Lexus is focused on the engagement with our customers. "Lexus has redefined our flagship sedan. It is totally set apart from the competition. It features imaginative design and levels of craftsmanship that make the impossible, a reality. And that story begins at the front, with the completely reimagined spindle grille."

Carmine DeMaio closed the evening by recognizing his entire team: "At Lexus of Englewood, our goal is to continually find innovative ways to ensure that each of our customers is treated like family and receives the ultimate level of personalized service. We are fortunate to have the expertise and talent of our dedicated associates who make Lexus of Englewood the premier Lexus dealership by the outstanding jobs they do each day."

Lexus of Englewood, repeat winner of the coveted Elite of Lexus Award, is located at 53 Engle Street in Englewood, New Jersey. The dealership is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. SUDC Foundation Celebrates Launch of UK Affiliate, SUDC UK

CEDAR GROVE, N.J. /ScoopCloud/ -- The Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC) Foundation is pleased to announce the launch of its affiliate in the United Kingdom, SUDC UK. The SUDC Foundation, which is based in the United States, serves over 800 families in 18 countries who have experienced the unique challenges and unanswered questions that follow a sudden, unexpected and unexplained loss of a child.

SUDC UK will build upon the SUDC Foundation's efforts in the U.K. to increase awareness of SUDC and raise funds for expanded research initiatives on one of the most under-recognized medical tragedies of our time.

Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC) is a category of death in children over the age of one year which remains unexplained after a thorough investigation and autopsy. Most often, SUDC occurs in otherwise healthy children during sleep. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, at least 400 children in the United States are lost annually to SUDC. It is most common in young children and is the fifth leading category of death among children ages of 1 to 4 years. Comparably, the Office of National Statistics for England and Wales states 42 children were lost to SUDC in 2016, of which 25 were aged 1-4 years.

"We are so excited to announce the launch of SUDC UK," said Laura Gould Crandall, Executive Director and Co-Founder of the SUDC Foundation. "The SUDC Foundation is proud of its history of being the only worldwide organization devoted to supporting those who have been devastated by SUDC. SUDC UK will help us expand our outreach efforts to support more U.K. families and advocate for research that will further our understanding of SUDC and ways to prevent it."

"Nikki, Helen and I are proud to announce the birth of SUDC UK, an affiliate to the SUDC Foundation and a U.K. charity whose sole purpose is to promote awareness, advocate for more research and build a connected and compassionate SUDC community," said Camilla Gooden Co-Founder of SUDC UK. "SUDC UK is launched in memory of all our children and we hope we can make a difference by shining their light on SUDC. We are eternally thankful to the SUDC Foundation for supporting us on our journey to make this happen. We very much hope to see as many U.K. families as possible at our launch on 21st April."

SUDC UK will enhance the SUDC Foundation's efforts to support the needs of the SUDC community in the United Kingdom. While the SUDC Foundation will continue to provide bereavement support to SUDC families in the U.K., SUDC UK will spearhead a national public awareness campaign to raise awareness of SUDC in the U.K. as well as raise funds for expanded SUDC research initiatives. Through prior efforts, leadership of SUDC UK have raised over $228,000 (£184,500) in funding to support SUDC and bereaved families.

SUDC UK will celebrate its launch at an event on Saturday, April 21st at Chessington World of Adventures Resort supported by The Lullaby Trust. The event will honor families whose toddler or child died suddenly and unexpectedly as well as feature a presentation on the work of SUDC UK.

Ten States Proclaim March 2018 Awareness Month for Unexplained Childhood Deaths to Kick Off Month-Long Campaign

CEDAR GROVE, N.J. /ScoopCloud/ -- The Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC) Foundation is pleased to announce nine states, Alabama, Arizona, Iowa, Louisiana, Michigan, Nevada, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Utah & Wisconsin, have made statewide proclamations declaring March 2018 SUDC Awareness Month. These are the first states to join a nationwide effort led by the SUDC Foundation to raise awareness of one of the most under-recognized medical tragedies of our time.

Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC) is a category of death in children over the age of one year which remains unexplained after a thorough investigation and autopsy. Most often, SUDC occurs in otherwise healthy children during sleep. At least 400 children are lost to SUDC in the United States every year.

"Far too often, the first time people hear about SUDC is when they, or someone they know, has lost a child to it," said Laura Gould Crandall, Executive Director and Co-Founder of the SUDC Foundation. "SUDC families too often grieve in isolation, without information, resources or knowledge that other families exist with a similar loss. Raising awareness of SUDC is integral to the work of the SUDC Foundation so we can support those affected by SUDC and advocate for research that will further our understanding of the causes and ways to prevent SUDC."

The SUDC Foundation is advocating for SUDC Awareness Month proclamations in all 50 U.S. states this March. In 2017, 36 U.S. states participated. This nationwide effort began in 2016, inspired by Drew Joseph Boswell and the Boswell family. The Boswell family successfully advocated for the first statewide proclamation declaring March 2015 as SUDC Awareness Month in the State of Louisiana.

New York Christian Radio Station, The Bridge 95.1 FM, Takes On Illegal Radio Pirates, And Wins

OLD BRIDGE, N.J. /ScoopCloud/ -- OLD BRIDGE, N.J., Nov. 28, 2017 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- When The Bridge Christian Radio Network, based in Old Bridge, N.J., gained authorization to expand its Christian Bible teaching broadcasts into New York City in November 2013, no one could have anticipated the battle that would ensue before the station could actually begin broadcasting on its own frequency, 95.1 FM in the heart of Manhattan.

Unauthorized broadcasters, or "pirates," had co-opted over 80 percent of The Bridge's signal on 95.1 FM. As a result, listeners tuning into 95.1, expecting The Bridge's signature Bible teaching, could hear anything but that, including a variety of music formats all illegally broadcasting on the signal.

"We brought the pirate problem to the government's attention," said Lloyd Pulley, CEO of The Bridge and senior pastor of Calvary Chapel Old Bridge, which owns the station. "We fought hard, and we won. While the pirates continue to encroach on the signal in some areas, we are delighted that The Bridge is now broadcasting clearly in 70 percent of its own coverage area, which covers from the Bronx to Lower Manhattan."

A listener-supported, noncommercial Christian teaching station, The Bridge originally launched in 2004. The station's David v. Goliath battle with radio pirates is not the only unique aspect of the station's expansion into New York. Currently, The Bridge is the ONLY Christian FM radio station broadcasting directly from New York City. The addition of this tower, located near the United Nations Building, makes it possible for The Bridge to reach over four million more potential listeners, in addition to the potentially seven million already reached throughout New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania on the station's other frequencies.

One New York listener notes, "We have waited a long time to hear clear, precise, and doctrinally sound, powerfully relevant Bible teaching for some time, and now we have The Bridge."

The station's expansion into New York enables The Bridge to share its message of hope in Christ to people from every tribe and tongue, including the approximately 600 language groups residing in New York. By bringing The Bridge to New York City, supporters of the station are often reminded, on and off the air, that they are essentially "bringing the Gospel to the world."

As well as being the only Christian FM station broadcasting from Manhattan, The Bridge is also unique in its format.

"The Bridge has not followed the trend of many other Christian radio stations to broadcast primarily music, and continues to air some of the finest Bible teaching in the nation," says Rob Taylor, general manager of The Bridge. "With this format, the Gospel is preached, the Word of God is taught, and the name of Jesus is clearly proclaimed to all, without compromise, 24 hours a day, 7 days week, 365 days a year."

In addition to its New York frequency, 95.1 FM, The Bridge can currently be heard on several frequencies throughout the Tri-state area, including 89.7 FM in Monmouth and Ocean Counties in N.J., 91.9 FM in Southern Middlesex and Northern Monmouth Counties in N.J., 103.1 FM in Northern N.J., and nationwide via its mobile app or http://www.bridgeradio.org/.

Of the powerful impact of The Bridge, one listener writing to the station notes, "Thank you for the courage and God's blessing to have this wonderful radio station full of teachings... I love listening to The Bridge and absorbing the Word on a daily basis. Thank you, and keep spreading God's word to believers, so that we may be lifted up each day and to the unbelievers, so that they may be led to Christ."

New Short Film Sheds Light on Struggles of Families Facing Unexplained Death of a Child

CEDAR GROVE, N.J. /ScoopCloud/ -- The Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC) Foundation released a powerful new documentary, "Love Beyond Reason," that offers a snapshot of the unique challenges and unanswered questions that follow a sudden, unexpected and unexplained loss of a child.

"Love Beyond Reason" depicts the challenges the medical community faces as it tries to understand this classification of death and the heartache of parents and families who have experienced the sudden loss of a thriving child with no medical cause or explanation.

"This documentary powerfully presents the human side of one of the most under-recognized medical tragedies of our time," said Orrin Devinsky, M.D., of the New York University Langone School of Medicine and the Principal Investigator of the SUDC Registry and Research Collaborative (SUDCRRC).

The film also highlights the chronically under-served needs of families affected by SUDC, including a lack research, support and funding. While it is the fifth leading category of death among children ages one to four, SUDC has received no public funding to date.

"Unfortunately, sudden deaths of children do happen," said Laura Gould Crandall, Executive Director and Co-Founder of the SUDC Foundation. "For far too long, SUDC has not been addressed well by the medical community in terms of care for the families affected and pursuing an understanding of a cause and a way to prevent these deaths. We have to change that."

Scenes for "Love Beyond Reason" were shot at the Understanding Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood Conference held in New York City, N.Y., on May 1, 2017. The conference was the first multidisciplinary medical conference on SUDC which featured critical research updates and best practices from the fields of epidemiology, pathology, genetics, cardiology, neurology and palliative care. Over 225 attendees joined from 35 U.S. states and five countries.

The conference also offered the rare opportunity for SUDC families to connect in person with others who have suffered similar tragedies, which is also featured in the film.

"This film cuts to the heart of what SUDC is all about," said Bobby Jenkins, a grandfather of a child lost to SUDC and Board Member of the SUDC Foundation. "From the first-ever conference for researchers and parents, we are able to tell the story of an entire classification of children who die without answers and receives no government research support. We see the families brought together for the first time and experience the tears and loss, but also the hope that someday we will have the resources to find out what happened to these wonderful children. Thanks so much to the SUDC Foundation for bringing everyone together and telling this important story."

"Like many, I was unaware of what SUDC really was before working on this film. It was through working on this conference that I began to understand the mystery of SUDC, and the strength of the families enduring such a loss," said Austen Deery, the director of the film. "The love and community I felt and was a part of while filming this documentary was special. To have families open up about these tragedies and speak freely about what their experience has been like was nothing short of heroic and deserves so much more than what I was able to provide as a filmmaker.

"So I say thank you to all those who were a part of making this conference so powerful, and to the entire team at the SUDC Foundation whose support and effort does not go unnoticed, and will not stop until this tragic phenomenon is put to rest."

To learn more about SUDC and the SUDC Foundation, and to watch "Love Beyond Reason," please visit https://sudc.org/.

About the SUDC Foundation:

The SUDC Foundation is the only organization worldwide whose purpose is to promote awareness, advocate for research and support those affected by SUDC. The SUDC Foundation provides all services at no cost to families.

About the SUDCRRC:

The SUDC Registry and Research Collaborative (SUDCRRC) will assist families and the medicolegal death investigation community when these tragedies occur. The purpose is to increase the understanding of the characteristics, circumstances, medical histories and pathologies of children from ages 11 months through 18 years who have died suddenly and unexpectedly, and in some instances, without explanation.

The SUDC Registry and Research Collaborative will analyze cases of sudden unexpected deaths in these children to understand risk factors and causes, and develop preventative measures. By bringing together these rare cases, we hope to support grieving families with a greater understanding of their child's death and support medical research efforts into all causes of Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood.

Shantanu Mohan says, "The Lead Without A Title system is specifically designed to supercharge businesses and inspire people to take in every level of their lives. When we have better awareness around who we are, we will start making better choices; and when we start making better choices; we will achieve better results."

Lead Without A Title(TM) has been implemented in major businesses, including IBM, Starbucks, Citigroup, Microsoft and more. Since it was introduced, these companies have undergone dramatic turn-arounds as evidenced in increased profits and improved innovation. Within the United States, the LWT system has typically only been shared with major companies through an organized corporate program. For the first time, LWT America will be hosting their open program at WorkSocial's newest training room. WorkSocial is the leading coworking organization in Jersey City, N.J.

Organizations around the globe are looking for more than just speaking events to achieve exponential growth. Companies are looking for initiatives that can be implemented across the organization. Corporate changes need to be consistent, coordinated and constantly updated. Robin Sharma has it right and he is brilliant at developing content that works.

Mohan has attended several of Robin's events and according to Mohan, "LWT is the best."

Companies are looking for a process that works, Robin's work has a stickiness factor, that makes it effective. LWT classes are interactive, fun and open up areas or gaps in the first day.

During this event, attendees will have the opportunity to work with other leaders of the business community. Small groups will be formed, in which each will go through the eight modules of the Lead Without A Title(TM) system. Created by renowned leadership expert and best-selling author, Robin Sharma, the LWT system offers solutions for individuals who want to lead and become the best in their industry.

Political Pot Prisoner Ed Forchion Ends Hunger Strike, Secures Bail Detention Hearing

TRENTON, N.J. /ScoopCloud/ -- For over 125 days, New Jersey's most prominent cannabis and bail reform activist Ed Forchion aka NJ Weedman, has languished in a Mercer County cell, held with no bail. On Wednesday, July 12, and Thursday, July 13, at 1 p.m. Forchion finally gets his day in court per a Bail Detention Hearing. Mercer County Court is located at 400 South Warren St in Trenton. Media and supporters are encouraged to attend.

It is sure to be a pivotal moment as new bail law reformists and cannabis activists around the world will be taking notice. Forchion, who is a jury nullification advocate, will represent himself in court.

As one of the more vocal casualties of New Jersey's controversial New Bail Reform law, Forchion's case has garnered international attention as the ethics of the law are being publicly debated. Under the state's new law, which went into effect January 1, officials cite that certain conditions can warrant pre-trial detention, like danger to the community, flight risk or threat to a witness. Opponents, including a wide contingency of bail bond agents, argue that the law denies defendants their constitutional right to bail.

NJ Weedman, the noted "Super Hero of the Potheads" recently ended a two week plus "Hunger Strike for Bail" at the prompting of celebrity bondsman / bounty hunter, Duane "Dog" Chapman, star of the reality TV show, "Dog the Bounty Hunter." Forchion initiated the strike to call national media attention to the New Jersey New Bail Reform Law. With the divisive law inciting a massive uproar, Chapman is positioned as one of its outspoken challengers. Chapman and his wife recently traveled from Hawaii to speak at a town hall meeting on bail reform in Edgewater, NJ and made trips to the Statehouse in Trenton as well, speaking in front of a panel regarding the New Bail Reform. Governor Chris Christie refused to meet with them.

Cites Forchion, "This isn't about cannabis it is about the constitution. For over 200 years The US Constitution guaranteed bail and now Governor Chris Christie has eviscerated it with the NJ Bail Reform Act. I am a political prisoner that has been unconstitutionally detained since March 3, 2017."

Forchion's long standing battle for marijuana law reform has been documented for over two decades. Considered by many as the "grandfather of marijuana reform in New Jersey," Forchion is a bone cancer patient who states he needs marijuana for his symptoms.

This most recent detainment stems from an early March arrest related to witness tampering. Forchion, after learning the name of a confidential informant, posted the information, with his lawyer's clearance, on Facebook. The original charges against Forchion were related to a raid last year on the popular New Jersey eatery, NJWeedman's Joint. Forchion co-owns the restaurant with his partner, Debi Madaio.

To keep abreast of Ed Forchion's battle, follow his page on Facebook at "Ed Forchion." Concerned citizens can support the cause with contributions to his PayPal account at NJWeedmans_Joint@yahoo.com.

A barbeque fundraiser and birthday celebration is scheduled for Ed Forchion on his birthday, at 4:20 p.m. ET on July 23 at NJWeedman's Joint at 322 E. State St. in Trenton, NJ. Follow NJWeedman's Joint on Facebook at "NJWeedman's Joint" for updates and details.

New Jersey Political Prisoner NJ Weedman Does ‘Hunger Strike for Bail’ from Mercer County Jail

TRENTON, N.J. /ScoopCloud/ -- Is orange the new green? Cannabis activist, cancer patient and self-proclaimed "Superhero of the Potheads" Ed Forchion aka "NJ Weedman" might well be pondering this dilemma as he sits out his "Hunger Strike for Bail" protest in New Jersey's Mercer County Jail.

The free speech activist was originally incarcerated on March 3, 2017 and is being held without bail on charges of witness tampering. Forchion has since filed a Federal Writ of Habeas Corpus in U.S. Federal District Court of Trenton New Jersey (Case No. 317CV02669PGS) claiming a tragic violation of his civil rights under New Jersey's new bail reform laws. Forchion has gone without food for over 11 days.

The charges were filed after Forchion, per the approval of his former attorney, posted the name and photo of a police informant on his Facebook page, requesting the public to help him find information on the man. Forchion believed the individual was a paid informant, hired by the Trenton Police, to build a drug case against him. Under New Jersey's new bail reform laws, which went into effect January 1, officials cite that certain conditions can warrant pre-trial detention, like danger to the community, flight risk or threat to a witness.

"I am a peaceful, proud and patriotic pothead," cites Forchion. "Yet I have sat here for over 100 days in a cell while watching real criminals, like murderers and rapists, get released daily on bail. Nothing I did was illegal," Forchion has stated from jail. "Nothing I did was wrong. In fact, I actually thought I was in accordance with the law per the advice of my attorney." (Forchion's attorney has since been removed from the case per his own request.)

Forchion's long standing battle for marijuana law reform has been documented for over two decades. Considered by many as the "grandfather of marijuana reform in New Jersey," Forchion is a bone cancer patient who states he needs marijuana for his symptoms. Forchion's most recent travails with the Trenton Police Department have shined an international media spotlight on the state's current cannabis policy. Forchion contends he is political prisoner due to the "politics of pot Jersey style."

Amongst his many trials and tribulations over the years, Forchion pleaded guilty in 2000 to charges of conspiracy to distribute and marijuana possession and was released on parole after serving 18 months on a reduced sentence. He was arrested again in Burlington County, N.J., in 2010 on marijuana possession and distribution charges. He has fought those charges. Forchion argued his medical condition gave him a "medical necessity" defense to possess and appealed the decision to the NJ Supreme Court and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Forchion achieved Hollywood notoriety when he opened a marijuana dispensary in Los Angeles in 2008, saying it was a temple that used marijuana as part of its religious ceremonies. The California temple was shut down after a federal drug raid in 2011.

Currently Forchion, a Rastafarian, is the co-owner of New Jersey's only cannabis-themed restaurant, NJWeedman's Joint and a spiritual sanctuary, Liberty Bell Temple III, located directly across from New Jersey's Trenton City Hall. He opened the businesses, alongside his partner, medical marijuana mom activist and registered nurse, Debi Madaio. The restaurant and sanctuary receive not only a steady stream of customers but also worldwide media attention.

NJ Manufacturing Extension Program Summit Sparks Creation of Senate Manufacturing Caucus

CEDAR KNOLLS, N.J. /ScoopCloud/ -- New Jersey Manufacturing Extension Program (NJMEP) congratulated President of the New Jersey Senate, Steve Sweeney, today on the formation of a Senate Manufacturing Caucus that will be charged with developing legislation and other programs to make New Jersey a more competitive environment for the Garden State's 10,552 manufacturers.

The Caucus grew out of discussions between NJMEP and teammate New Jersey Business and Industry Association (NJBIA), and was highlighted at NJMEPs first ever State-of-the-State - NJ Manufacturing event that brought together New Jersey legislators and manufacturers in late March. It will be headed by Senator Bob Gordon.

"When we decided to bring together leading manufacturing businesses in New Jersey with legislators throughout the state, we were confident that it would spark discussions between the two and lead to intensified efforts just like this, to reaffirm New Jersey's leading position in the manufacturing industry and to create positive job growth for the state," said John W. Kennedy, Ph.D., NJMEP Chief Executive Officer.

"We salute Senate President Steve Sweeney for taking the lead, and we support Senator Bob Gordon as he steps into this critical role in a $45+ Billion Industry for New Jersey. Lastly it is always a plus for us to team with NJBIA, as their ability to create cooperatives of this type is unparalleled in our State," concluded Kennedy.

Sweeney made the announcement at the New Jersey Business and Industry Association's "Meet the Decision Makers" event this week.

Senator Gordon is especially well poised to chair the Caucus, not only because of his extensive legislative experience, but his experience in the manufacturing industry as well. Gordon managed a family-owned textile mill in Paterson and has a decade of experience in business strategy and process re-engineering.

How the Latest Bait and Switch Carpet Cleaning Scam Can Lead to Burglary, Home Invasion and Identity Theft

HAMILTON, N.J. /ScoopCloud/ -- Just as sure as the sunrise, it's guaranteed to happen every Spring. They promise to clean all the carpets in your house for $59. Sound too good to be true? It probably is, says the top exec at AllstateCleaning.com in Hamilton, New Jersey. To make matters worse, they finally show up - three hours late - in a beat-up pickup truck with no company name, and hop out in torn jeans and a soiled tee-shirt. Then you realize it: you've been the victim of a bait and switch campaign.

What is bait and switch? Bait and switch scams work like this: a company advertises cleaning a roomful of carpet for a ridiculously low price. When they arrive, they inform you the price they quoted is only for the traffic lanes and doesn't include any cleaning chemicals.

"That's like taking a bath with no soap," says senior textile inspector Rodney Mortillaro at AllstateCleaning.com.

So you agree to pay extra for the chemicals because you are thankful someone showed up. In the end, the final bill ends up costing you hundreds of dollars. Another typical scam is hearing that a company will clean a set amount of rooms for a very low price (like 5 rooms for $49). After they begin, you discover a linen closet, hallway, foyer, or regular closet counts as a room, and you wind up paying a lot more than you thought you would. Bait-and-switch scams are especially targeted at the elderly. Seniors are more likely to be intimidated by high pressure tactics and by someone who "promises" to give then a good deal.

The latest carpet cleaning ruse is promoted through deal-of-the-day websites. That's where you're offered 3 rooms of carpet cleaning for $50. To take advantage of this offer, you have to prepay for a non-refundable certificate that expires in 90 days. Also, the website that makes the offer IS NOT responsible for the quality of the work. Plus all sales are final. What you don't know is that most companies that do this went into business yesterday.

Then, they have to give half of the $50 or $25 to the deal-of-the-day websites. Do you really think that they can afford to clean 3 rooms of carpets in your house for $25 and still make a profit? Of course not. Most of the time, they don't even show up for appointments. If they do show up, then they'll tell you that you're going to get a quick dash and splash job that just uses water.

If you want a better job, you'll have to fork up more money for them to use a cleaning chemical. Or they get so many calls, they'll book you out three months in advance and then the certificate expires. If they do show up, the job won't be guaranteed. If you complain about them to the Better Business Bureau, , Yelp or Google+, that's OK. They'll be in business tomorrow under another name as quick as you can change your socks. Then they'll do it all over again.

One reason why they may clean for such a low price is the cleaners might be gang members or illegal aliens with criminal records. Entering your home allows them to "case" your home to plan a future burglary or home invasion. Also, they may sell your credit card information to an identity theft ring.

So how can you avoid a becoming a crime victim or being scammed by a bait and switch carpet cleaner? The best protection against bait and switch is to ask some pointed questions before the cleaner arrives at your home. Call several local cleaning companies. If the company cannot answer simple questions, move on to another company. Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Here are 9 questions you should ask:

1. Are you certified in carpet cleaning? If not, what type of formal training do you have?
2. How many years has your company been in business? (The longer, the better.)
3. Can you provide a link to consumer online reviews or references I can call?
4. Is your company drug, alcohol and criminal free? (Companies that don't screen their employees can put you and your loved ones at risk. To be on the safe side, DO NOT deal with companies or cleaners who don't pre-screen and drug test their employees and who are not bonded.)
5. Can you provide proof of insurance and a business license?
6. What steps will be included in your cleaning process?
7. How long will it take for the carpet to dry?
8. Do you offer free, no-obligation, on-site written quotations? Do you offer a written, satisfaction or money back guarantee?
9. Can you verify that your cleaning solutions are safe for my family and my pets?

"When you have decided on a cleaner, make sure you pay your bill with a major credit card. Sometimes it's difficult getting a cleaner to come back to fix a problem after you've paid the bill. Paying by credit card will give you an option to dispute the bill if the problem is not resolved to your satisfaction," says Mortillaro.

Thirty-Seven U.S. State Proclamations Raise Awareness of Mysterious Childhood Deaths

CEDAR GROVE, N.J. /ScoopCloud/ -- The emotional trauma associated with losing a child is overwhelming. But when that loss is combined with a total lack of explanation, grief can become far more complicated, says the SUDC Foundation. Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC) is the sudden unexplained death of a child over the age of one which remains unexplained after a thorough case investigation is conducted.

It is not a diagnosis but a category of death that eludes our scientific understanding today. In 2015, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that 393 children between the ages of 1 and 19 years died without a clear explanation for their death. The majority of SUDC deaths affect children aged 1-4 years.

"It is a frightening statistic, especially since SUDC often occurs in otherwise healthy children during sleep-time," explained Laura Crandall, co-founder and President of the SUDC Foundation, which is dedicated to increasing awareness, funding crucial research and the prevention of SUDC.

The Foundation is the only organization worldwide devoted solely to the needs of families and professionals affected by childhood sudden death.

When Devon and Georgia Boswell lost their precious son Drew on March 12, 2014, at the age of 15 months, they were devastated. "When we lost Drew, we felt all our dreams for the future slip through our fingers. How could our healthy 15 month-old, simply not wake up," a question Georgia Boswell still asks today.

Their friend, Christina Grantham, was also shocked by the inexplicable death of little Drew. She joined forces with the SUDC Foundation to improve the country's awareness of this little known tragedy. In 2016, she spearheaded the first nationwide awareness campaign in the U.S. to proclaim SUDC Awareness month to educate the public and raise funds for crucial research. Twenty-six U.S. states signed on.

"It has been an honor to work with Christina Grantham - a tireless volunteer in the fight to understand and prevent SUDC. Her dedication is not only a reflection of her love for Drew, but also her love for all children," states Lorri Caffrey, Co-founder of the SUDC Foundation.

In 2017, with the coordinated efforts of Christina and bereaved parents across the U.S., the campaign continues to grow. To date, thirty-seven (37) U.S. State Legislatures have issued proclamations that March 2017 is SUDC Awareness Month.

"Awareness is a catalyst that can allow the SUDC Foundation to reach more families and help achieve the end goal of a world without sudden unexplained death in childhood. As Drew's Mother, I could not be prouder that his short life and the passion of Christina Grantham, and so many others, have led to success of SUDC awareness month. This initiative is not just for Drew, it is for all SUDC children. Their legacies continue to bring out the best in people each and every day," says Georgia Boswell.

For more information and to view all of the SUDC US State proclamations visit the SUDC Foundation Website at: https://sudc.org/.

About the SUDC Foundation:

The SUDC Foundation is devoted solely to the needs of professionals and families touched by the unexpected death of a child aged 12 months or older. Since its inception, the non-profit Foundation has funded crucial research, helped hundreds of families in over 16 countries, and led many advocacy efforts, including the successful passage of the Sudden Unexpected Death Data Enhancement and Awareness Act, which was signed into law by President Obama in December 2014. SUDC Foundation Awards Grant to AAP and NAME to Establish National Guidelines for the Investigation of Sudden Deaths of Children

CEDAR GROVE, N.J. /ScoopCloud/ -- The SUDC Foundation, the only organization worldwide dedicated to sudden unexplained death in childhood (SUDC), has awarded nearly $100,000 to the National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME) to work collaboratively with the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) to investigate and establish national practice guidelines surrounding the investigations of sudden unexpected deaths in infants and young children, to determine research needs and the sensitive care of families affected.

The death of a child has profound effects on families and serious implications for our public health system particularly when the death is sudden and unexpected in an apparently healthy infant or child. While causes of these pediatric deaths are numerous and span natural disease, accidents and deaths due to abuse, many are not fully explained despite current efforts.

"No formal standards exist today that delineate the roles of those tasked with the death investigation of a child who dies suddenly, unexpectedly, and without an obvious cause," said Brian Peterson, MD, President of NAME. "We aim to change this by introducing evidence-based protocols that create uniformity and consistency in investigative procedures nationwide."

For the "Sudden Death in Pediatrics: Consensus for Investigation, Certification, Research Direction and Family Needs" project, NAME and AAP will work together to address these issues, leveraging their respective resources, expertise, and reputations. NAME and the AAP are also working collaboratively to revise the AAP policy statement, "Distinguishing Sudden Infant Death Syndrome."

"Although this task has been attempted by smaller groups in the past with limited success, we are confident that our strategic collaboration is set up for success because it is based on each organization's strong commitment to carry out a common mission," said Dr. Peterson of NAME.

"The death of an infant or child is devastating to all those involved. The SUDC Foundation is proud to support this amazing project that will help us better understand these tragedies, improve our surveillance of them, lead to prevention strategies and best support those most personally affected," said Laura Crandall, MA, President and Executive Director of the SUDC Foundation."
"As pediatricians who are dedicated to caring for children and preventing illness and injury, the death of any child is heartbreaking," said Vincent Palusci, MD, FAAP, member of the Executive Committee of the AAP Section on Child Abuse and Neglect. "Many pediatricians participate in community activities such as child death review to help understand the causes of sudden, unexpected deaths, and to identify ways to prevent them. The AAP is proud to be working with NAME to address these important issues and prevent further deaths."
The Sudden Death in Pediatrics project will commence this month to create an expert panel review of sudden and unexpected deaths in pre-pubescent children. This panel, identified by NAME and AAP, will be composed of professionals from various disciplines and settings representing the interests of death investigation, autopsy performance, certifications, genetic/metabolic testing, legal issues, and family needs. All panel members will be active in the practice of medicine in the field of sudden death in infants and children. Invitations to participate will also be issued to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the National Institutes of Health.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in 2015, about 2800 infants and 400 children died without a clear cause being identified after investigation. Sudden Unexplained Infant Death/Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SUID/SIDS) and SUDC are age-based terms sometimes used to describe the sudden death of an infant or child which remains unexplained after a thorough case investigation is conducted and other possible causes have been ruled out. They may also be categorized as "undetermined". SUID/SIDS are used to describe deaths less than 12 months of age, and SUDC used for deaths on or after a child's first birthday.

About the SUDC Foundation
The SUDC Foundation is devoted solely to the needs of professionals and families touched by the unexpected death of a child aged 12 months or older. Since its inception, the non-profit Foundation has funded crucial research, helped hundreds of families in over 16 countries, and led many advocacy efforts, including the successful passage of the Sudden Unexpected Death Data Enhancement and Awareness Act, which was signed into law by President Obama in December 2014.
