South Central Local Schools to Save $39,221 Annually Through Implementing Energy Conservation Project

Green Energy

TIPP CITY, Ohio, Oct. 15, 2013 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- David Brand, Superintendent of South Central Local Schools, is pleased to announce that the District is implementing an energy conservation project with Energy Optimizers, USA to improve the High School and K-8 School facilities, reduce over-all energy usage, and save taxpayer resources.

"We are very excited to work alongside Energy Optimizers, USA to not only improve the educational environment of South Central, but to also save tax dollars," states Superintendent Brand. "These savings will allow us to continue to allow world-class opportunities to all students."

After working extensively with personnel at South Central Local Schools, Energy Optimizers, USA has identified areas where enhancements should be made so the buildings can be more purposeful in their use of energy without compromising a comfortable learning environment for teachers and students. The District is utilizing a funding mechanism through the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission's House Bill 264 program so that the District does not have to ask for any taxpayer dollars.

While the total cost of this project is $294,330, the South Central Local School District stands to save $39,211 in annual energy and operations costs. As a result, the District can count on a 7.5 year payback, along with other post-project benefits, including increasingly efficient buildings that facilitate a productive and safe academic experience.

Energy Optimizers, USA developed a project for South Central Local Schools focused on interior and exterior lighting retrofits, which will significantly reduce electrical consumption across the district, as well as installation of occupancy sensors, outdoor air tie-ins for the high school air handling units, and smart controls on kitchen equipment.

This project has integrated, and will continue to use, the Energy Star Portfolio Manager system to model and track the current and on-going energy usage and performance of the school district.

"It is always encouraging when the school district we are working with is as excited as we are to implement an energy conservation project," notes Bob Hausmann, Operations Manager for Energy Optimizers, USA. "South Central Local Schools' administration and School Board Members are not only pleased to make positive changes in order to conserve both energy and taxpayer resources, they are passionate about creating better, more efficient facilities for their students and teachers. We truly look forward to helping them meet their fiscal goals and assisting them in championing a great idea -- the idea that a 'greener,' more sustainable means of energy use is not only responsible and practical, it is preferable."

CPEP Celebrates 25 Years of Serving Underserved Youth

Connecticut Pre-Engineering Program

MIDDLETOWN, Conn., Oct. 7, 2013 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- For 25 years, the Connecticut Pre-Engineering Program (CPEP) has been serving as a catalyst to significantly change underrepresented and underserved students' knowledge, attitudes and behaviors toward the pursuit of education and careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

In 1986, business executives partnered with innovative Connecticut educators to design a cutting-edge program designed to inspire and prepare African American and Hispanic students to pursue careers in STEM. Their vision was to build a non-traditional experience that could be replicated throughout the state. In 1988, CPEP was launched in one middle school serving 20 students. Due to the program's demonstrated ability to attract, nurture and inspire underrepresented students, CPEP has grown to serve more than 1,500 students annually in 40 schools throughout 13 school districts in Connecticut.

To celebrate this milestone event, CPEP is hosting the Engineering Brighter Futures Gala on Saturday, October 26, 2013 from 6 p.m. - 11 p.m. at the Omni New Haven at Yale. CPEP students, teachers, staff and supporters from its 25 year history will come together to reminisce, reflect and celebrate the organization's significant accomplishments.

Over the past 25 years, CPEP has served more than 25,000 students many of whom have graduated high school and pursued STEM careers. These students are now serving in the workforce across Connecticut.

"Every person that has supported CPEP over the past 25 years has contributed to the successes and accomplishments we see today," said CPEP CEO Bruce Dixon. "Many CPEP students credit the organization with giving them the will and drive to pursue educational opportunities and careers in STEM. This is ultimately why we do what we do, and we hope to continue to do it for another 25 years."

Synergy Software Announces 25-Year Anniversary KaleidaGraph Upgrade

KaleidaGraph 4.5

READING, Pa., Oct. 1, 2013 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Synergy Software, celebrating the 25th anniversary of its scientific graphing and data analysis software application, KaleidaGraph, today announced its newest 4.5 version which includes many new and improved features for its world-wide community of scientists, researchers and engineers.

"Customer feedback pointed to some limitations in KaleidaGraph," William Jones, vice president of research and development says. "The main focus of 4.5 is to service our client base by addressing those issues, and enhancing KaleidaGraph to better meet their needs."

Strengthening one of the most popular functions of KaleidaGraph, changes made to the linear curve fit allows the computation of the confidence interval, and increased statistical analysis. For all curve fits v4.5 has also added exporting predicted values to the data window. "Users no longer have to export results from each of the fits," Jones says. "With one command, they will get a table with all of the relevant information."

New Features: Floating bar, floating column and fill plots have been added to the new version. The addition of the new Slice Data command allows data to be reorganized quickly and easily. Now, Dropped Lines helps determine the value where each data point falls on the X or Y axis of a plot.

Enhanced Features: Users can now control the display of the plot more accurately and with expanded tools. There are now 99 variables; 24 new markers; independent line and fill color; and the ability to read new Excel formats. Plus, for each axis, users now have complete control over the color of the axes, major and minor ticks and major and minor grids. Enhanced scripting commands make it easier to customize plots, apply curve fits and control the size and resolution of exported images.

Image exporting has also been improved, and allows higher resolution JPG, PNG and TIFF images to be created, in grayscale, color or CMYK TIFF.

"Through 25 years of customer-oriented development, KaleidaGraph still remains an exceptionally, easy-to-learn graphing and analysis program with a surprisingly affordable price. It continues to be invaluable everywhere collected data needs simple and immediate treatment," Jones says.

Four Seasons Efforts to Improve Palliative Care in Zambia Featured in Documentary

A Unified Presence

ASHEVILLE, N.C., Sept. 26, 2013 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- A premiere screening of "A Unified Presence," a short documentary film featuring Four Seasons Compassion for Life, Flat Rock, and its cross-continental partnership with the Palliative Care Association of Zambia is slated for Tuesday, October 15, at Asheville Community Theater, 6:30-9 p.m.

The Zambian partnership formed in 2011 to provide support to a country with limited access to this compassionate form of medical care. Then, in 2013, Four Seasons sent a medical mission team to Zambia to assist with care, develop strategy, and create a mutual vision to increase the reach of the Palliative Care Association of Zambia. For more information, visit http://www.fourseasonscfl.org .

Zambia is in the sub-Saharan, southern region of Africa.

Four Seasons partners with PCAZ because their missions align, according to Janet Bull, M.D., chief medical officer, who helped formulate the partnership.

"The partnership focuses on improving access to quality palliative life care throughout Zambia," says Bull, who donated a 2012 Cunniff Dixon Foundation award of $25,000 to train and educate Zambian nurses and physicians to this end.

On average, Zambians have a life expectancy of 48 years, about half that of North Carolinians, and high incidences of HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis, and cancer. With fewer than 800 doctors nationwide, expert consensus is that the country's medical system remains ill-equipped to take care of the needs of the seriously ill and dying.

Filmed on location in Zambia and North Carolina by Emmy award-winning Asheville filmmakers Dylan and Melanie Trivette, "A Unified Presence" highlights the collaborative effort of the two agencies to improve access to quality palliative care during serious, life-limiting illness or at end of life for individuals throughout Zambia.

For more information about Four Seasons Compassion for Life, Flat Rock, and its work in Zambia, visit http://www.fourseasonscfl.org/ .

"A Unified Presence" premieres Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Asheville Community Theater, from 6:30-9 p.m. The event includes the screening, a reception and discussion with filmmakers and members of the Four Seasons-Zambia partnership team. Tickets are available online, http://www.zambiafundraiser.com/ or at the door, $25.

LRM Adds TPF Production Lines, Expands to Second Building

TPF ThermoPlastic Flowforming

ROCKLEDGE, Fla., Sept. 10, 2013 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- LRM Industries International, Inc., headquartered in Rockledge, Florida, has secured a second building and added two presses due to rapid growth. Operating at 24/7 since May of 2011 and processing 2 million pounds of plastic per month, LRM reached full capacity on its main TPF ThermoPlastic Flowforming(R) production line.

Molding very large products, among them a challenging 420 pound structural panel with high demand, has driven this growth. LRM's TPF process technology enabled the development and production of this product.

Due to the global uniqueness of LRM's patented TPF ThermoPlastic Flowforming(R) process, the new presses are designed and custom built by LRM.

"Buying 'off-the-shelf' presses requires extensive re-engineering on our part," said Richard Cochrane, President & CEO of LRM, "This time, we decided to build our own and fully maximize the versatility and capabilities of TPF."

To make room for this new capacity, the STF Sheetless ThermoForming(TM) production line (LRM's other unique technology) will be moved to a second nearby building, increasing facility space by 70 percent. The STF line has been upgraded to enable the production of products as wide as 14 ft. and moving it to the new building will allow products longer than the current 25 ft. limitation due to space.

With this expansion, LRM has increased its employment by over 50 percent.

Company Information:

LRM Industries International, Inc. was established to commercialize TPF ThermoPlastic Flowforming(R) technology, a radically different and award-winning process technology for producing large, feature-rich, long-fiber reinforced thermoplastic composite parts in one fully automated operation. With the patented TPF ThermoPlastic Flowforming(R) and STF Sheetless ThermoForming(TM) technologies, LRM enables innovative applications and designs in the use of thermoplastics/composites to produce very large unitary structures where, to-date, it has been viewed as cost prohibitive or lacking in strength and structural integrity. Peel to Exhibit Flexible Packaging in the States

flexible packaging

CHICAGO, Ill., Sept. 6, 2013 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- The U.S. is the largest national market for flexible packaging and the value it brings to brand owners through versatility and potential for innovation. Peel Plastic Products Ltd. is bringing this value to the brand owners attending two U.S. September trade shows - HH Backer Total Pet Expo and Pack Expo. Peel is exhibiting in booth 1733 at the Total Pet Expo and booth S6075 at Pack Expo.

"As one of the largest suppliers of pre-made plastic packaging in North America, these two established trade shows allow Peel to connect with professionals from both markets that can benefit greatest from our unique packaging formats," said Mark Liberman, Vice President Sales and Marketing, Peel Plastic Products.

The variety of audiences attending the Total Pet Expo and Pack Expo allows Peel to showcase how flexible packaging can be customized to enhance the product it contains. "For example, our side gusseted pouches offer more surfaces for communicating to the consumer," said Liberman. "And when you add one of our closure features to the package, consumers gain the convenience of keeping the product in the original packaging while reinforcing the brand."

The variety of Peel closure systems allows brand owners to customize their packaging. This convenient feature means that customers are not forced to use a secondary container to store products. "The companies attending the Total Pet Expo and Pack Expo know that convenience has become the most sought after feature in consumer packaging today. Convenience can drive a purchasing decision," said Liberman. "Peel's flexible packaging can offer that convenience."

About Peel:

Established in 1978, Peel's expertise in Side Gusset formats, pre-made pouches, and roll stock, combined with the inclusion of unique package features makes them a leader in delivering customized packaging solutions. Peel pioneered the Flat-Bottom Pouch, the Fold-Over bottom pouch, and the Grab 'n' Go Side Gusset Handle pouch. Peel Plastic Products: Bringing flexible packaging innovation to your brands. Peel to Connect with Pet Industry Players at 2013 PIJAC Shows

National Pet Industry

BRAMPTON, Ontario, Canada, Aug. 23, 2013 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Canada is a growing nation of pet lovers. According to the Pet Food Association of Canada, there are more than 12.5 million pets nationwide. The 2013 Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council of Canada's (PIJAC Canada) tradeshows provide unique gatherings of the Canadian pet market and the leading companies that influence that industry, including Peel Plastic Products.

This year marks PIJAC Canada's 25th anniversary and Peel will be participating in the celebration by exhibiting at the ExpoZoo Trade Show and the National Pet Industry Trade Show. These PIJAC shows are ideal showcases for Peel.

"Our innovation in flexible packaging within the pet food industry allows for products to stand out and drive sales," said Mark Liberman, Vice President Sales and Marketing, Peel Plastic Products. "Government Market Indicator Report shows the Canadian pet food market growth continuing to a projected C$1.9 billion by 2016. Peel's Side Gusset pouches, printing on every panel, and specialized closures can help companies compete for this growth."

Functionality:

Just like in human food packaging, what may be one of the most important features of pet food packaging is convenience. Packaging that offers a beneficial feature can be interpreted as a product enhancement compared to the utilitarian aspects of basic packaging that is designed to protect and contain the product. Packaging options like Peel Plastic's Side Gusset pouches, and FlexiJug, offer the type of consumer conveniences that distinguishes a product.

The Side Gusset Handle and FlexiJug allow companies to offer consumer packaging that is easier to handle and control.

Liberman said: "The Side Gusset Handle is one of Peel's latest innovations. It can hold up to 45 lbs and can transform that slack bag of dog food into a manageable container ideal for dispensing. But for smaller packaging situations, the FlexiJug's re-enforced handle would be more beneficial. Features are only a benefit when they are appropriate for the application and appeal to the consumer."

A closure system allows consumers to keep the pet food fresh and accessible in its original, branded bag reducing the need for secondary storage containers and establish repeat exposure to the brand with each use.

Beyond the Shelf:

Attractive packaging is one of the most powerful tools in driving an initial retail sale, especially in a situation as pet food where the purchaser is not the consumer. Innovative packaging reinforces that sale at every touch point throughout the product life and encourages return customers.

About Peel:

Peel representatives are staffing ExpoZoo booth 114 at the Centre de foires in Sherbrooke, Quebec, August 25-26, 2013, and booth 522 at the National Pet Industry Trade Show at Mississauga, Ontario's International Center September 15-16, 2013.

Established in 1978, Peel's expertise in Side Gusset formats, pre-made pouches, and roll stock, combined with the inclusion of unique package features allows it develop customized packaging solutions. Over 1.25 Million Pounds of Trash Recycled by Greener Owensboro Recycling

GO Recycling

OWENSBORO, Ky., Aug. 6, 2013 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Greener Owensboro Recycling celebrates their 3rd year of business with over 1,250,000 pounds of recycled waste collected. Starting with a few neighborhood homes and a small truck and trailer in July 2010, GO Recycling has grown to now serving over 1,000 residential and business customers in Daviess County and Owensboro Kentucky.

"It is great so many people in our community are dedicated to saving the earth's natural resources and reducing the foot print they leave on the planet. 1,250,000 pounds ultimately equals lots of trees, water, and other valuable resources. Many people do not realize the positive financial impact recycling provides as well. It is much cheaper to recycle plastic bottles than it is to make them from scratch," said John Fentress, owner of GO Recycling.

GO Recycling is also growing and gaining efficiencies in its own operations. Due to advances in sorting technologies at recycling centers, customers no longer need to separate their materials. This technology saves both GO Recycling and their customers lots of time and effort. "Customers simply throw all their recyclables in one bin or totter and the machines handle the separation," said Fentress.

In late July GO Recycling added a new truck for collection with separated bins allowing recycling and other waste materials to be picked up at the same time by the same truck. This provides greater efficiencies and ultimately reduces their own footprint on the environment. "Not only does it help us reduce our business footprint, but it also helps us be competitive on pricing as well," said Fentress.

Another step Go Recycling has made to increase efficiencies is launching a full service website at http://saveowensboro.com/ . Both residential and business customers can now learn more about services, determine items available for recycling and residential customers can sign up and manage their accounts online. "We wanted to make our services as accessible as possible and we hope in time to reduce our paper billings as well," said Fentress. Go Recycling customers can currently pay by credit card and PayPal through the website.

Full waste management services are available for Daviess County residents only. For residents of the city of Owensboro, GO Recycling provides recycling services on the same days as normal trash pick-up.

"As people learn more about the benefits of recycling and the impact it can have both in terms of resources and financial savings, we expect the number of households recycling to grow," said Fentress.

Customers interested in recycling and its advantages for our resources and environment are encouraged to visit http://saveowensboro.com/ .

One Woman’s Mission: Empowering Rural Villages, Transforming Lives

Anja Swartz

AKUM, Cameroon, May 3, 2013 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Cameroon Partnership in Development today announces a program, Cameroon Cultural Travelling and Volunteering, started by Anja Schwarz from Germany, an adventure traveler interested in cultures, who prefers experiencing another culture as a member of that community, and in the process, finds opportunities to transform lives in communities in need.

Anja Swartz is Empowering Rural Villages in Santa Division, North West Region, Cameroon through a program that combines Village Cultural Heritage Preservation, and Volunteerism to build up a global partnership towards achieving sustainable development and livelihood opportunities for the people and a fulfilling experience for volunteers.

Last November 2012, Anja Schwarz spent four weeks in the rural villages of Akum and Baligham , empowering the villagers, especially women examine their cultural heritage assets and figure out rural cultural tourism offerings and volunteering opportunities for national and international travelers.

By promoting Cultural Heritage travel, they show tourists the local culture and traditions, food and cooking techniques, folklore, art and lifestyle of their villages. Revenue from the Cultural Heritage tourism industry expands livelihood opportunities and sustainable development, building schools, water projects, improved housing, wellness and nutrition and access to health care.

Cameroon Partnership in Development is partnering with Cameroon Cultural Travelling and Volunteering, an alliance that will provide volunteering solutions to an array of volunteers: students, faith-based groups, corporations, retirees, researchers, who are looking to contribute to local grassroots development initiatives and cultural tour packages for adventure travelers seeking an authentic cultural immersive experience.

The Cameroon Partnership in Development, International Volunteerism component will function as a platform where volunteers and adventure travellers will access volunteering opportunities, tour packages, exchange ideas, success stories and customized program design services.

What is particularly unique and innovative about Cameroon Cultural Travelling and Volunteering program? It has been designed from Anja Schwarz's experience living among the rural villagers as a volunteer and adventure traveller, participating in the daily village life activities such as, farm work, food preparation, and working with kids and women with disabilities.

Anja Schwarz's volunteer experience includes work in South America and recently Thailand where she skated 1,000 km to raise cash for the Baan San Fan Orphanage in southern Thailand.

"We thought of the 14 children at the orphanage and the need to expand to accommodate 40 children and that is how the skate challenge was born."

"I think we wanted to give something back to Thailand for being such a great host country to us," explained Anja.

"I want to tell you about my amazing travel experiences living in the North West Region of Cameroon. Whether you are a traveler just passing by or a long time volunteer, you are welcome to visit us here in Baligham or Akum every time!" said Anja (http://cameroonnorthwestculturaltourism.wordpress.com ).

"My mission is to support these large number of individual and development associations together with CPID ( cameroonpartnershipindevelopment.org ) to build up a global partnership towards achieving sustainable development in order to improve their livelihoods for their families and to contribute positively to the economic and political situation in the country," adds Anja.

"We are empowered and hopeful, as a result of Anja's trip," remarks Henrietta Galabe who is coordinating rural village homestays in Akum and Baligham villages for volunteers and adventure travellers.

"The various villages are looking to start or enhance their unique cultural assets: Folk Art and Crafts, Music, traditional cuisine, festivals," adds Henrietta.

USA Coffee Company: Environmentally-Friendly Coffee

certified Hawaiian coffee

PLANTATION, Fla., April 1, 2013 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Earth Day is April 22 and USA Coffee Company is doing its part to save the planet. USA Coffee Company is proud of its efforts to produce conventional certified Hawaiian coffee that is environmentally friendly.

"We have developed farming practices that return the harvesting and processing byproducts back into the soil to control weeds, and to replenish the soil's nutrients," Ted Massinello, president of USA Coffee Company, says. "We also recycle the coffee wash water and the green waste from pruning. All branches and twigs are mulched and recycled year after year; nothing goes into landfills."

Massinello says that it will continue to farm its specialty coffee by recycling by-products that are biodegradable.

Additionally, USA Coffee Company has recently introduced the reusable and eco-friendly coffee filter, Ekobrew, for Keurig single-serve brewers. It's made in the USA and BPA free. It's also compatible with the Cuisinart, Breville and Mr. Coffee single-cup machines.

And, because the Ekobrew is reusable, there is no disposable plastic and foil cup to end up in a land fill. This year alone, more than five billion K-cup packs filled with imported coffee will be sold, used and then discarded.

"So, make coffee, not trash," Massinello says.

The Ekobrew has a financial advantage as well. Coffee drinkers who use the Ekobrew with USA Coffee can expect to save 70 percent or more because there is no need to purchase the K cups. It's a $0.20 average cost per cup versus $0.70.

It's pretty too. Ekobrew's durable and attractive design has won high praise from critics making it a finalist for the 2012 Housewares Design Award presented by HomeWorld Business.

About USA Coffee Company:

USA Coffee Company was established to only roast coffee grown in the USA. 100 percent of its coffee hails from Hawaii. All coffee accessories such as mugs and filters are also made in the USA. Signature coffees include: All American Union Roast; All American Classic; Maui Morning Mojo; and more.

Vivebloom Produce Wash

CLEVELAND, Ohio, March 29, 2013 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Adherents of the "shop local" movement are becoming more discriminating. Waterstone Ventures LLP, the makers of the 100 percent carcinogen-free products, announced today that their cleaners will be sold in over 20 local grocery stores. These all-natural cleaners are available in Whole Foods Market (University Heights), Constantino's, Heinen's, and Nature's Bin stores.

The Global Cleaner - intended for use for everything from toys to dirty pots - removes grease, grime, dirt, and buildup.

"Our customers are very aware of what they consume, and that's why products like Vivesan cleaners are a good fit for our shoppers. They want products that contain ingredients they recognize," said Michael Bishara, Grocery Team Leader at Whole Foods Market of University Heights, Ohio. "However, shoppers care about effectiveness, too, and that's what's appealing about these cleaners. Now, they don't have to trade potency for safety," he added. "The short distance these products travel is a plus, because they're made right here in Cleveland, and that's a smaller carbon footprint."

Other Vivesan(TM) formulas are available for Marine, Automotive, and Equine Care applications. The Vivebloom(TM) Produce Wash, a food-safe surfactant, is a liquid spray that removes undesirable residues, wax, pesticides, and dirt from fruits and vegetables. Kubota Research’s P-Wave/PTIR(TM) IR Assisted Advanced Out Of Autoclave (OOA) Process

Structure grade epoxy adhesive

HOCKESSIN, Del., Aug. 27, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Kubota Research Associates, Inc. headquartered in Hockessin, Delaware, has developed a new P-Wave/PTIR(TM) IR Assisted Advanced Out Of Autoclave process to enhance adhesion properties as well as significantly accelerate the curing speed of thermoset resin systems for installing Adhesive Bonded Fasteners (ABF) such as CLICKBOND(R) studs and standoff onto composite fuselage and metal structures.

The TRL 7 process was demonstrated for the US NAVY Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) through a NAVAIR SBIR Phase II N08-030 program and jointly evaluated at Bell Helicopter and the University of Delaware Center for Composite Materials (UDel-CCM).

OEM qualified room temperature cured structure grade two part epoxy adhesives such as Henkel Hysol(R) EA9394 and Magnobond(R) 6398 are used to install CLICKBOND(R) fasteners onto composite fuselages. These adhesives are extremely temperature sensitive for curing and typically set in 24 hours and cure in 5 to 7 days at 25 C/77 F. The P-Wave/PTIR(TM) process used with the same qualified adhesives can bond and cure the fasteners onto the substrate in less than 10 minutes. The process can be applied under a broad range of operating temperature conditions from -20 C (-4 F) to 50 C (122 F).

The process enhances wettability between the adhesive and substrates to significantly increase the fastener to substrate bonding strength. In addition, the P-Wave/PTIR(TM) ABF installation fixture is reusable and replaces the disposable one time use Pressure Application Fixture.

The P-Wave/PTIR(TM) IR Assisted Advanced Out Of Autoclave module and fastener bonding test results were exhibited at the 2012 NAVY Opportunity Forum. Kubota Research will participate the Matchmaking at The 2012 National SBIR Beyond Phase II Conference at Indianapolis, Indiana on September 10 - 13, 2012.

Kubota Research Associates is a member of the UDel-CCM University-Industry Consortium, a globally recognized center of excellence for research and knowledge in the advanced composites industry.

Mike Kubota, CEO of Kubota Research Associates said, "We are pleased to have established a working relationship with UDel-CCM. Our company along with our global partner Bell Helicopter looks forward to collaborating with UD-CCM to advance the development of P-Wave/PTIR technology to bring a new generation of cost-effective composite parts manufacturing methods to the industry."

Compliance Workshops to Explain Complex Hazardous Waste Regulations

hazardous waste identification

BOSTON, Mass. (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Fines and penalties are on the rise for facilities that fail to comply with Federal and State hazardous waste rules. In May, the U.S. EPA fined an Illinois recycling facility $700,000 for violating the hazardous waste regulations. For those responsible for managing hazardous waste, Lion Technology Inc. will be hosting its two-day Hazardous/Toxic Waste Management Workshop. Workshops will be held in Parsippany on December 2-3; Manchester on December 6-7; Boston on December 9-10; Hartford on December 13-14; and Philadelphia on December 16-17, 2010.

Training is required annually for all hazardous waste facility personnel. This comprehensive workshop provides hands-on training on the critical rules managers must know to ensure compliance with the regulations. Students learn how to identify regulated waste, handle and store waste on site, prepare waste for off-site shipping, prepare and plan for emergencies, keep records, assure proper disposal, and prepare their site for new regulatory changes.

Tuition is $795 per person, with group discounts available. Registration includes course reference materials, networking luncheon, certificate of achievement, and one year of follow-up support. Registration starts at 7:30 a.m., and the workshop runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Pre-registration is highly recommended. To register, call (888) 546-6511 or visit us online at www.Lion.com/HazWasteTrainingNow .

Lion Technology Director of Corporate Training, Scott Dunsmore, a national expert on hazardous waste management, stresses that proper hazardous waste handling, management, and disposal is critical, especially in light of rising enforcement, which is now $37,500 per day/per violation. "With a slow economy and budget tightening, the reflex is to go towards shorter and inexpensive training options. However, with enforcement initiatives on the increase, shortchanging your training puts you at risk of costing you more in the long run."

Lion Technology Presenting Hazardous Waste Management Fall Workshops for Midwest Companies

RCRA hazardous waste regulations

CHICAGO, Ill., Sept. 9 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Fines and penalties are on the rise for facilities that fail to comply with Federal and State hazardous waste rules. An Illinois recycling facility faces a $700,000 fine for violating the RCRA hazardous waste regulations (EPA 5/6/10). Lion Technology Inc., a nationally recognized regulatory compliance training firm, will present its two-day Hazardous/Toxic Waste Management Workshop regionally throughout September.

Lion Technology Inc., a nationally recognized regulatory compliance training firm, will present its two-day Hazardous/Toxic Waste Management Workshop regionally throughout September. The course is designed for compliance professionals who must be trained annually under the RCRA hazardous waste regulations. Workshops will be held in Minneapolis, MN on September 27-28; Cedar Rapids, IA on September 30-October 1; St. Louis, MO on October 4-5; Chicago, IL on October 7-8; Louisville, KY on October 18-19; Cincinnati, OH on October 21-22; Indianapolis, IN on October 25-26; Milwaukee, WI on October 28-29; Detroit, MI on November 4-5; Cleveland, OH on November 8-9; and Pittsburgh, PA on November 11-12, 2010.

The workshop provides hands-on application of the Federal Hazardous Waste Regulations (40 CFR 206-279). Students learn how to identify regulated waste, properly handle and store waste on site, prepare waste for off-site shipping, protect their site in the event of an emergency, keep records, and prepare their site for new regulatory changes.

U.S. Senate Candidate Gail Goode Supports Ban on Drilling Near Drinking Water

Senate Candidate Gail Goode

NEW YORK, N.Y., Aug. 25 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- U.S. Senate Candidate Gail Goode (D-NY) yesterday supported a six-month ban on hydraulic drilling for natural gas near upstate watersheds that supply drinking water to the New York metropolitan region.

"We must have a much clearer sense of the potential impact of this process, known as hydraulic fracturing, on our watershed," Goode said, following a community town hall meeting Tuesday at the Borough of Manhattan Community College.

"I support creating jobs, but in this case, we must consider the greater good of protecting the region's drinking water," said Goode, who will face off against Kirsten Gillibrand in the Sept. 14 Democratic Primary. "As we've seen with the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, it is just not enough for industry to assure the public that a process is safe."

Hydraulic fracturing is used to release natural gas deposits by shooting a high-pressure mixture of water, sand and chemicals into shale deposits thousands of feet below ground. The mixture fractures the shale and allows gas that is trapped in the formations to flow.

Earlier this month, the New York State Senate passed a bill that suspends hydraulic fracturing for the extraction of natural gas or oil until May 15, 2011, and suspends the issuance of new permits for such drilling, to provide time to study the issue. If the legislation becomes law, it would temporarily prevent drilling in the Marcellus Shale formation, which stretches from the Catskills region westward across New York into Ohio, and south into Pennsylvania, New Jersey, West Virginia and Virginia.

Goode noted that the Senate legislation acknowledges the "robust debate involving the interplay between job creation and protection of the environment," but said the potential risks in this case are too great until more is known.

"The federal government should be working hand-in-hand with state officials to create jobs, and I do not believe my opponent has done nearly enough to help the people of New York," Goode said. "We should be focusing on rebuilding infrastructure and bringing new technologies to New York, rather than drilling processes that could potentially contaminate our drinking water."
