African Methodist Episcopal Church Installs New Senior Bishop

NASHVILLE, Tenn. /ScoopCloud/ -- On June 26, during the AME Church's Annual Council of Bishops and General Board Meeting Worship Service, at the Birmingham-Jefferson County Convention Center in Birmingham, Alabama, the Right Reverend Adam Jefferson Richardson, Jr. was installed as the Senior Bishop of the AME Church.

The Senior Bishop is the active Bishop with the longest tenure of service in the AME Church and is first in order of precedence among the Council of Bishops. The position occupies a key role in the polity and practice of the AME Church. While a Senior Bishop has existed since the incorporation of the church as a denomination in 1816, the first formal investiture ceremony occurred at the 2004 General Conference.

The ceremony includes the passage of the Senior Bishop's regalia-a solid gold medallion with the logo of the denomination donated by the family of Claude Stephens.

During his investiture, Senior Bishop Richardson commented, "I am honored for service at this time in the history of our church. I seek an interest in your prayers that I may rise to the occasion, that inadequacies may not be too glaring. Whatever successes, whatever achievements, the credit, the glory will belong to God in Christ."

Bishop Richardson succeeds the Right Reverend McKinley Young who died in January 2019. He was elected and consecrated the 115th Bishop at the 1996 General Conference. With service in pulpits throughout Georgia and Florida, the last church he pastored prior to his election was Bethel AME Church in Tallahassee, Florida where he served for 18 years. He obtained the Bachelor of Arts degree from the Florida A&M University (where he was noted as the head drum major of the "Marching 100" Band). He received his Master of Divinity and Doctor of Sacred Theology degrees at the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, Georgia.

As a Bishop, he has served churches in Sierra Leone, Ghana Liberia, Cote D'Ivoire, Togo and Benin (14th District), the Republic of South Africa (19th District), Virginia, North Carolina, Maryland and Washington, DC (2nd District) and currently Florida and the Bahamas Islands (11th District). Within he has served as chair of the Health Commission, Lay, Commission on Seminaries, Colleges and Schools and as President of the Council of Bishops. He has represented the AME Church in a number of Ecumenical bodies including the World Methodist Council and the National Congress of Black Churches. He is also a prolific author with articles or chapters in several books including the African-American Devotional Bible and Headlines to Homilies.

Bishop Richardson will serve as Senior Bishop until his retirement in 2024. Reflecting on his time as a FAMU drum major he said, "There are quite a few steps (literally and figuratively) between the Patch (the practice field) and Senior Bishop!"

He and his wife Dr. Connie Speights Richardson are proud parents of two adult children Monique (a Leon County Judge) and Trey (a certified hospital radiographer and professional saxophone player).

About the African Methodist Episcopal Church:

Kraft Technology Group Achieves HIPAA Compliance with Compliancy Group

NASHVILLE, Tenn. /ScoopCloud/ -- Kraft Technology Group, a Nashville-based managed IT service provider, is pleased to announce that we have achieved compliance with the federally mandated standards of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) through the use of Compliancy Group's proprietary HIPAA methodology, The Guard(R) compliance tracking software, and HIPAA Seal of Compliance(R).

As a managed service provider serving healthcare clients, Kraft Technology Group is a "Business Associate" under the definition of HIPAA (45 CFR §160.103) and therefore subject to HIPAA regulations designed to protect electronic protected health information while supporting our "Covered Entity" clients.

Kraft Technology Group has completed Compliancy Group's Six Stage Implementation Program, adhering to the necessary regulatory standards outlined in the HIPAA Privacy Rule, HIPAA Security Rule, HIPAA Breach Notification Rule, HIPAA Omnibus Rule, and HITECH. These standards have been heavily vetted against the letter of the law and meet federal NIST requirements. Kraft Technology Group's good faith effort toward HIPAA compliance through the use of The Guard has been verified by the HIPAA subject matter experts and Compliance Coaches(R) at Compliancy Group.

A recent HIPAA Journal article, "The Top HIPAA Threats Are Likely Not What You Think," made the point that the top cybersecurity threats are employees. The article refers to an IBM X-Force Threat Intelligence Report which points to this surprising statistic: 71 percent of recorded data breaches in the healthcare industry are attributable to employee actions. Whether those employees are working for a Covered Entity or a Business Associate, the Health & Human Services enforcement of HIPAA regulations can be severe.

The important intersection between HIPAA compliance and data security is often lost on I.T. providers working in the health care space. Clients are becoming more aware of the requirements of HIPAA compliance - and forward-thinking providers like Kraft Technology Group choose the HIPAA Seal of Compliance to differentiate their services.

The HIPAA Seal of Compliance is issued to organizations that have implemented an effective HIPAA compliance program through the use of The Guard, Compliancy Group's proprietary compliance tracking solution.

About Compliancy Group:
Compliancy Group simplifies HIPAA compliance so that health care professionals can confidently run their practice. The Guard(TM) is our simple, cost-effective, web-based solution. Users are guided by our team of expert Compliance Coaches(TM) to Achieve, Illustrate, and Maintain(TM) total HIPAA compliance.

ScriptDrop and Albertsons Hurricane Relief Efforts To Be Covered on ‘The Success Files’ with Rob Lowe

NASHVILLE, Tenn. /ScoopCloud/ -- ScriptDrop, a healthcare technology company providing medication reminders and deliveries while fighting prescription abandonment and abuse, today announced that it will be featured on "The Success Files" hosted by Rob Lowe, airing on MSNBC and PBS in 2018.

The segment will show how ScriptDrop teamed up with Albertsons Companies to provide relief to Hurricane Harvey victims prevented from picking up their prescriptions in the aftermath of the storm. "We're delighted that 'The Success Files' decided to tell the story of how technology helped to alleviate at least some of the pressure on families in need," said ScriptDrop CEO Nicholas Potts.

"After Hurricane Harvey, we had patients who were struggling to meet their basic needs, so partnering with ScriptDrop to deliver their prescriptions to their homes was an easy decision and allowed our patients to stay healthy and focus on recovery efforts," says Mark Panzer, Albertsons Companies Senior Vice President of Pharmacy Health and Wellness.

"Our data showed that people were either unable to reach the pharmacy or dealing with other priorities," added ScriptDrop's Potts. "By offering our expertise in prescription delivery with Albertsons Companies, we could help people by bringing prescriptions to them and assisting with copays." Albertsons stepped in to cover the cost of the deliveries and the copays were paid for by funds raised.

"The Success Files" is an award-winning program that highlights new stories and innovative concepts through groundbreaking short-form and long-form documentary presentation. The hurricane provided an opportunity for ScriptDrop to test its systems in a high pressure environment. ScriptDrop connects patients, pharmacies and physicians to ensure that patients properly adhere to medication protocols prescribed by their physicians, and that healthcare providers and pharmacies are informed if there are problems.

The complex system or reporting and notifications is implemented through the use of cutting edge blockchain technology, ensuring both the security and accuracy of the process.

The Success Files will tape the segment in Houston on November 14, and it will run on MSNBC and PBS stations throughout 2018.

About ScriptDrop:

ScriptDrop offers a prescription delivery service that makes the delivery process easier for both pharmacists and patients. Once a prescription is ready, ScriptDrop sends a courier to pick up the delivery and tracks the delivery until the patient signs for it.
