Nashville Band Releases Disturbing Music Video About the ‘Dangers of Christian Nationalism’

"I named the song 'Traitor' because that's exactly what I believe they are. These people must be stopped here and now or America as we know it will cease to exist."

Sue Larsen is an independent artist who has been crafting songs for over forty years. "I didn't have a choice about doing this music," Hightower confesses. "My mother, Theresa Hightower, lived her life onstage. She was a fiery and versatile vocal pro by age 16 and had me when she was 19. So, you could say I've been performing since the womb." Growing up under a local legend mother - a Funk-Rocker who could sing anything and mentored many singers coming behind her - Tony learned music first-hand from Bobby Blue Bland and the Platters to Mother's Finest. And as mother Theresa evolved as a first-class singer - shifting her focus to Jazz that resulted in her historic residency at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in once fiercely segregated Buckhead. GA - so, too, did Tony's taste begin to broaden.

"When my mom followed Freddy Cole at The Ritz Carlton, he became a fan and then they became friends. Later, Mr. Cole called to ask me to accompany him on drums. By then, he was more like family. One day, he told me in earnest, 'You need to start writing your own songs. We need new songs!' I hesitated but by his nudging and God's, I started on some songs that worked. My hope was to create The New Standard, thus the title/concept of my debut CD."

A man of the Hip Hop/R&B generation, Tony is known for singing with Soul luminaries such as Gerald Levert, Lionel Richie, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis and OutKast. However, the last 7 years have found him totally devoted to jazz, on a mission into bring the real deal to fresh young audiences in memory of his mother and Mr. Freddy Cole, at whose funeral he tearfully blessed in song. "I worked hard on my first record to ensure that my tone was tight and that my songwriting mirrored the timeless songs of yesterday. On Legacy, my sound is evolving into something that's more uniquely soulful and 'me' that I believe the pure jazz world will respect but that can also play in the soul-pop world like Al Jarreau was able to do."

No statement could be truer with one listen to Hightower's divinely varied latest offering, Legacy, so titled as a tribute to the memory of his mother who was honored with a proclamation from the city of Atlanta and October 29 being declared 'Theresa Hightower Day' upon her passing. "My mother was my best friend," Tony says softly. "We used to always have this one debate. I'd say music is about melody. She insisted it was all about the lyrics."

At a recent intimate performance during the Candlelight Series at Piedmont Park, Hightower sang a repertoire of all Ellington music show. Onstage, he spied a pair of pretty ladies who could not have been older than 22. His heart was gladdened. "When I say these things, I really mean it. Jaiimoni Starr releases single ‘Stop and I Go,’ launching career at age 16

"I aspire to teach young women that music doesn't always have to be portrayed in a negative and degrading way, also that you can get a message across and still sound or appear cool. I've learned that music can have a positive and negative effect on our generation, and its vibrations."

With an understanding of phrasing and song craft beyond her years, "she has an ease and flow in her writing and performing like she has been rapping for a long time," Martinez Robinson, Co-manager at Daugherty Entertainment said.

Allen Daugherty, Daugherty Entertainment, is managing the artist. Children’s Chorus and Rap Artist Tell Maryland ‘Sing a New Song!’

Amelia Ray never met her paternal grandfather because he was murdered by a white man in Butler, AL, after her father, who was still a boy at the time, refused to address the man as "Sir." While under quarantine and witnessing the nation seethe with collective indignation and unrest, Ray felt her family history come bubbling to the surface.

In response, Ray, alongside longtime collaborator and "Hamilton" drummer Jake Wood and cinematographer Peggy Peralta, created "Hambone Says," a time-travelling tune that uses several musical genres to detail a history of racially motivated killings in the United States. The lyrics allude to recent events such as the murders of Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery but also reference the 1967 Detroit riots and the 1923 Rosewood Massacre. "I wanted to transmit the exasperation, confusion and fury I saw in the streets and felt in my soul," Ray says.

To write the lyrics, Ray scoured the internet for references to first usage of various derogatory terms used to describe Blacks - particularly in the U.S. - and listed them in chronological order. Ray then made a list of some of the atrocities suffered by Black Americans at the hands of White Americans in chronological order. The goal was to use the terms to reference the events in the context of popular music of their era. The song begins with a chain gang chant and transitions into gospel, Appalachian music, jazz, rock and roll, funk and rap.

"Hambone Says" was recorded live during the filming of the video which was released on Friday 09 October 2020. Andrew Zhang of Two Story Melody has already touted it as song of the year.

New Rap Writer/Producer and Eminem Stan James Guiltinan Launches Kickstarter Campaign to Create Music Video Salute to Eminem

LOS ANGELES, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- Will the real Stan please stand up? Before James "Slim Jimmy" Guiltinan knew that Eminem's "Stan" had become a dictionary word defined as a sort of super, but sometimes obsessed fan, he'd written one of his first two rap songs, as an Eminem "salute." The slang definition of "stan" likely originated from Eminem's song and music video "Stan."

At first, James referred to his song, "This Time and Then" as a "tribute song" to Eminem, but later learned that the term was reserved for the deceased. So he coined a new phrase "salute song." James now suggests that he could be the real Eminem "Stan," but not of the obsessed or crazed kind of stan, an example of which might be the recent intruder into Eminem's home. The Detroit rap artist's music helped to get James through a dark period in his life.

Having only played trumpet in high school during the seventies, and new to rap writing and producing, James had assistance from Los Angeles rapper Solid Savage who recorded and co-wrote "This Time and Then." James originally didn't want to charge for the song, as he felt it would cheapen the "salute." His distribution service required a minimum price for streaming distribution, but James has made "This Time and Then" available at no charge on SoundCloud. James' Kickstarter campaign serves to create a complementary product (the accompanying music video) to further the Eminem salute.

Ironically, Slim Shady's "Stan" song and music video features a Stan character who ends up accidentally or purposely killing himself in a car accident. While James admits to being suicidal during his struggles, and perhaps saved by in part at least, rather than troubled by an absence of writing back, Eminem's music.

"Eminem's music gave me encouragement, because it talks about struggles that Slim Shady experienced during his life, which I identified with," James says.

After losing his job two years ago and living out of his van, which was after losing his family's house and getting divorced, James took up songwriting to finally try his hand at the creative arts. At first, his lyrics were essentially poems. After ordering two songwriting books, James got a little better at the craft. He also remixed the background music he selected for "This Time and Then" after taking a class in Logic.

During his two years of being homeless, James has written and produced seven hip hop and one R&B tracks. Most of the work on his songs, including the cover artwork, writing, and background ("beat") music selection was done using a cell phone, after his MacBook was stolen.

"Wrigley Field," a sequel to "This Time and Then," is a playful rap song, where James comes to Slim's "rescue" by providing a warning to - in good fun only - similar to a diss track - Machine Gun Kelly, regarding MGK's Eminem diss (disrespect) song. James views "salute" songs as being the opposite of "diss" songs, and he hopes they become popularized.

TIPZY Releases Satirical Music Video About Safety During a Pandemic

"COVID Dance" was written, directed and produced by Zach Bailey, also known by his stage name, TIPZY.

"When building this song, I was inspired by Megan Thee Stallion's, 'Savage,' and its iconic 2020 TikTok challenge plus my forever role models, Andy Samberg and his comedy group, The Lonely Island," Bailey says. "My ultimate goal for this music video is to promote ways we can stay safe this year, and my way happens to be through humor."

Bailey shares that he's been producing "goofy songs" for as long as he can remember when he first started out in his hometown of Overland Park, Kansas.

Originally from Schaumburg Illinois (a northwest suburb of Chicago), Kay says her song's production and lyrics were inspired by the way Chicagoans embrace the fleeting summer months. It then evolved into a story about two friends taking a step towards romance.

"The original idea was just about the weather, the literal heat of the literal moment," said Kay. "The winters here are so brutal, that when summer finally does roll around Chicagoans make the most out of every minute. We took that idea of longing for summer and used it as a metaphor for two people longing to get out of the friend zone."

The video features a variety of recognizable locations around the city, including Millennium Park, Navy Pier, Wrigleyville, and the Chicago Riverwalk. It follows Kay and her love interest (played by Andrew Haney) exploring the city together. As day turns to night, their friendship becomes more and more flirty, and both appear to be trying to muster up the courage to make a move.

"These characters have both been wanting this for so long," said Kay, "but the timing's never been right before. It takes something special for something like that to happen, and nothing feels more magical than summer in Chicago."

Ciampi, who typically composes and orchestrates, plays piano in this new release too. And, it's original orchestration and arrangement was all done while he was in quarantine.

Video footage epitomizes how this tragedy escalated and affected people across the world, with a focus on Italy, China and the United States. Moving images include Pope Francis' prayer in the deserted square; coffins in the mass grave on New York City's Hart Island; a nurse collapsing on her computer keyboard; the procession of military trucks through Bergamo loaded with dead bodies; and many others. And then - a light of hope.

A baby is born to a recovered patient who leaves the hospital to the applause of nurses, and tricolor arrows crisscross the sky like musical notes on the score of this hymn which is dedicated to frontline heroes.

"Generously lending her voice to this project is my friend Teura, an Italian singer," Ciampi says. "Teura is an artist and single mother of two young daughters living in the Italian countryside province of Ostia. She supplements her income as an artist and supports her family by operating a small cafe which was closed because of the pandemic. She represents the many single mothers in Italy currently trying to overcome the insecurity of supporting a family while not able to make a living."

Therapeutic Music Video Reduces Stress of Coronavirus Lockdown

MADISON, Wis. /ScoopCloud/ -- The International Forgiveness Institute (IFI) announced today that University of Wisconsin-Madison psychologist Robert Enright, Ph.D., has teamed up with acclaimed songwriter-performer Sam Ness to produce a "therapeutic music-discussion video" for adults who are struggling with the anguish created by the coronavirus lockdown.

Called "Forgiveness," the hour-long video incorporates original compositions written and performed by Ness with related summary discussion bites on the virtue of forgiveness to create what Enright calls "forgiveness therapy through music" or simply "music of the heart." "Every person in the world is dealing with some form of pain or toxic anger from being hurt in the past," Enright said in explaining why he and Ness produced the video. "The coronavirus lockdown has a tendency to amplify those internal feelings and cause additional stress so this is the ideal time to practice forgiveness by being good to yourself (self-forgiveness) and good to others."

The Forgiveness video includes a rolling discussion between Enright, co-founder of the International Forgiveness Institute, and Ness that summarizes the four phases of the patented Enright Forgiveness Process Model that has become the standard for forgiveness and forgiveness therapy around the world.

"Sam has added high artistry to the language of forgiveness with his voice and his guitar," Enright says. "Instead of reading a book to learn how to forgive, Sam's songs provide forgiveness therapy through music."

With the coronavirus pandemic shutting down most television and movie productions for now, would-be viewers of those non-existent productions are looking for something new to watch as they shelter in place, according to Enright. "This video is just what they need-emotional self-improvement."

In addition to the song "Forgiveness," Ness performs two other original compositions on the video: "Storm Inside of Me" (a ballad about self-forgiveness) and "I've Come for Grace" (a song he wrote about life's trials while he was undertaking a 96-mile winter hike through the Highlands of Scotland).

The 22-year-old Ness, a native of Sauk City, Wisconsin, began his song-writing career at age 15 and performed in show choir musicals throughout his high school years earning him scores of awards including two Wisconsin Tommy Awards for Outstanding Lead Performer and more than a handful of Outstanding Male Soloist Awards.

After high school, Ness passed up scholarship offers to study theater from half-a-dozen prestigious universities and music conservatories. Instead, he hitch-hiked and hopped busses for nearly a year across Scotland, England, France, Spain, Portugal, and Switzerland while learning the fine art of "busking" (street performing).

The following year, Ness busked across much of New Zealand before signing on for a 23-show tour across Thailand and Cambodia. Since returning to Wisconsin, he finished writing and recording an album, "Lullabies & Faerie Tales." NYC Dancers Step Together in Short Musical Film to Encourage Our Youth to Speak Out!

Each performer came up with their own interpretation of the song and lyrics to capture their feeling about our current societal condition.

"I Love You" the video was directed and edited by Deon Smalley (Smalley Films) from a treatment written by KEA who also cast the clip plus handled all of the production and costume design (yes, where appropriate, her wardrobe is stellar and stylish). It was important to KEA to have key locations around Pittsburgh serve as backdrops, including Andrew Carnegie Free Library and Music Hall, Airbnb Historic Day House and Dorsey's Records shop.

Most poignantly, KEA and her two real life daughters Auhneyah (6) and Alyssa (16) [playing one child over a 10-year span], solidifying the intimate single parent family portrait of unshakable love between a mother and daughter. It is KEA's hope that song and video touch hearts and minds around the globe.

Kea Michaels ("KEA") is a Soul singer traversing today's Urban Adult Contemporary (UAC) broadcast terrain. Growing up in Pittsburgh a creatives chameleon of poetry and books, as well as a sketch artist, her love for singing blossomed following piano and vocal training from Elayne Kitay as well as at the local Jazz Workshop.

One inspired night in 2015, singer-songwriter Kea Michaels sat down to write a poem like a lullaby entitled "I Love You" for one of her daughters...heartfelt prose enriched with motherly adoration. She later turned that poem into a song thinking about an older daughter that had been battling, since birth, kidney hydronephrosis. KEA thought she was about to lose her to the debilitating disorder.

The Ormewoods release new music video that reaches across the aisle, ‘Hope, Pray, Sing’

ATLANTA, Ga. /ScoopCloud/ -- The Ormewoods - Claire Pearson and Don McCollister - is an Americana and folk duo, and their new music video, "Hope, Pray, Sing," was released to draw people closer together rather than tear them apart.

"The song was originally written after the 2016 U.S. presidential election," Pearson says. "I'm still a bit disconcerted, but I do know how to 'Hope, Pray and Sing.'"

As chief songwriter, Pearson draws lyric inspiration from her daily journals. The song's opening lyrics, "Hope to stand your ground, pray for angels to sound, sing for peace to be found," set the stage for a musical message with positive vibes.

"The hateful climate and the demonizing of people with different beliefs is our greatest concern," Pearson adds. "This song resonates with people who are sick of these things too."

Pearson says the response to "Hope, Pray, Sing" has been really lovely.

"Friends and family on both sides of the political fence have embraced it; we couldn't ask for anything more," she says.

The duo's music is described by fans as "sexy, folk, pop and country." It's toe-tapping and, at times, profound.

To date, The Ormewoods have produced two albums, "The Bedroom Sessions," which in 2017 spent more than 33 consecutive weeks on the folk charts, and "Not Your Mama's Folk."
