Pennsylvania Dog Trainer Christine Pazdalski Dispels Traditional Dog Training Techniques

Christine Pazdalski

PHOENIXVILLE, Pa., Dec. 1, 2014 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- You can teach an old dog new tricks (as well as their owners), according to Christine Pazdalski, owner of Puppy Love, LLC.

She says that while most people are familiar with conventional dog training doctrine, it does not have to be the only dogma out there. Traditional dogma follows an alpha principle which is no longer considered the most effective way to go. Behavior that was once frowned upon (treating a dog like a child, eating before he does or walking in front of him before going through an open door) are beginning to lose some steam.

Why? Pazdalski explains that dogs have evolved and so should their training.

"Domesticated dogs have been living alongside human beings and interacting with us for thousands of years," she says. "And, while they have certainly retained a variety of their wild ancestors' instincts, their social intelligence, cognitive ability and ability to learn more closely resemble a toddler's than a wolf's."

As a certified professional dog trainer, it is Pazdalski's mission to replace dominance-based methods with humane, science-based positive training.

"I am so excited to share my knowledge of these recent dog training and behavior discoveries," she says. "Once dog owners understand that they can relate to their dog on a different level, it becomes exciting for them too."

Based on the science of animal behavior, learning and cognition, as well as the proven effectiveness of positive reinforcement, this positive dog training builds bonds.

Puppy Love LLC also has a different approach to how the training is executed. Rather than quickly explaining the concept and setting the dog and their owner out to fend for themselves, they believe in handling the initial dog training first. Only then do they pass along the tools and skills to the owners so they can maintain and reinforce what the dog has already learned. An initial consultation leads to a customized dog training program for each client.

"It's what we do," she says. "We do our job while you do yours."

About Puppy Love, LLC:

Puppy Love, LLC was founded in 2001 by Christine Pazdalski, a certified professional dog trainer. She trains dogs, puppies and their people in the Main Line area and throughout Chester and Montgomery counties. She is the winner of the Best of Phoenixville: Best Dog Training 2013 and 2014, and is one of the Top Five Dog Trainers on The Philly Hot List 2014.

About Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs, Inc.:

Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs, Inc. rescues, raises, trains and then donates individually trained medical service dogs to veterans and others who suffer from disabilities that are both visible and invisible. We have all heard the news, that 22 veterans a day are taking their own lives while suffering from PTSD and combat injuries. But once paired with a Guardian Angels Medical Service Dog, that number falls to zero.

Our veteran recipients report a zero attempted suicide rate, a zero divorce rate, and reduction or elimination in use of prescription medications to treat PTSD. Many are able to return to the workforce, and improve the lives of not only themselves and their families, but to become, again, vital members of their community as well.

Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs exists only through your generosity. We have several upcoming events to raise necessary funds, and to help you learn more about our life-changing program. East Palestine Schools expects to save $56,500 annually through partnership with Energy Optimizers, USA

Ohio Energy Project

TIPP CITY, Ohio, Nov. 18, 2014 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- The East Palestine City School District expects to save more than $56,500 annually by partnering with Energy Optimizers, USA, to improve energy efficiency at all three of its school buildings.

Lighting, temperature controls and boiler upgrades will significantly reduce the district's utility and related maintenance costs, freeing more dollars for student resources. Funding is provided through the Ohio School Facilities Commission's House Bill 264 program, enabling the district to make these cost-cutting improvements at no expense to taxpayers. Projected energy savings are guaranteed, and the payback for the upgrades is just over 9 years.

"I am extremely excited about our partnership with Energy Optimizers for this HB 264 project," said East Palestine City Schools Superintendent George Fisk. "In addition to benefitting the environment through reduced energy consumption, the savings from our project have been targeted to support increased reading and math achievement in grades K-12."

In total, the project will involve:
* Replacing interior lighting with more efficient lamps and removing unneeded lamps to cut waste.
* Replacing exterior lighting with LED technology to improve energy efficiency while enhancing building safety, appearance and security.
* Replacing dated boilers with more energy-efficient models.
* Installing smart kitchen exhaust and walk-in cooler/freezer controls to cut back on wasted electricity.
* Installing a main power surge protection to improve building safety and reliability.
* Extensively training district staff on how to make the most of the improved efficiencies.

The energy efficiency gained by the district will be equivalent to saving 42 acres of trees or taking 28 cars off the road. The project is expected to begin in the near future and be wrapped up by the summer of 2015.

"When this project is completed, East Palestine Schools will be operating in a much more energy efficient fashion," said Bob Hausmann, Director of Operations for Energy Optimizers, USA. "That's good news for the environment, and even better news for students and taxpayers. Those are real dollars saved that can be diverted to other, more important uses, like classroom education."

The partnership also includes the resources to launch a Green Team, an energy education effort that Energy Optimizers, USA promotes in all of its school-related energy conservation projects. In addition to funding the team for two years, Energy Optimizers, USA will provide Ohio Energy Project academic materials that are aligned to Ohio's academic content standards. Green Team members will take part in STEM-related activities that are focused on energy conservation, while encouraging their peers to become more environmentally conscious.

About Energy Optimizers, USA:

Energy Optimizers, USA works with Ohio school districts and government agencies to implement energy savings opportunities to reduce operational costs, including lighting retrofits, renewable energy projects (wind and solar), HVAC retrofit projects, building automation retrofits and energy education programs. California Safe Schools Receives 2014 Neotrope Non-Profit PR Grant

child environmental health

LOS ANGELES, Calif., Nov. 18, 2014 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- California Safe Schools (CSS) is pleased to announce it is one of 10 recipients for 2014 of Neotrope's annual J.L. Simmons Non-Profit PR Grant award. With this commitment, Neotrope(R) will provide public relations (PR) and cause-marketing support to California Safe Schools over the next year to raise awareness around its programs and accomplishments.

California Safe Schools is a nationally - and internationally - celebrated child's environmental health and environmental justice coalition.

"We are grateful to have Neotrope assist us in raising awareness on children's environmental health and environmental justice. Their services will be extremely helpful as we continue to spearhead ground-breaking programs and policies that protect our most vulnerable," says founder and Executive Director of California Safe Schools, Robina Suwol, who was named by UTNE Magazine as one of "50 Visionaries Who Are Changing Your World."

As part of this in-kind grant program, Neotrope(R) is providing PR solutions, news dissemination (through its Send2Press(R) Newswire service), and social media marketing for California Safe Schools. This cause-related marketing program is intended to help raise awareness of the 501(c)3 non-profit to traditional media, to the public, as well as to potential sponsors and donors, regarding their efforts.

"We're honored to be providing assistance to such a worthy cause as California Safe Schools," said Neotrope CEO, Christopher Laird Simmons; a member of PRSA and ASCAP. "We were impressed by their goals of keeping kids safe through education and policy making efforts."

"For more than sixteen years, California Safe Schools has led groundbreaking efforts to ensure that school children and the public have a right not to be poisoned, a right to learn, work and live in a healthful environment. When we work together great things can and do happen," added Suwol.

About California Safe Schools:

California Safe Schools (CSS) successfully spearheaded the most stringent schools pesticide use policy in the nation, Integrated Pest Management (IPM), at the Los Angeles Unified School District. IPM uses low risk methods to eradicate insects, weeds and other pests, eliminating a major source of indoor and outdoor pollution. It was the first in the United States to embrace the "Precautionary Principle" and "Right to Know" about pesticides used on school campuses. The success of the Los Angeles Unified policy led to California Legislation, Healthy Schools Act 2000.

On October 6, 2005, Governor Schwarzenegger signed AB 405 (Montanez) sponsored by California Safe Schools. This important law closes a loophole thus protecting more than 6 million California k-12 public school students, and hundreds of thousands of teachers and school employees from exposure to experimental pesticides whose health effects are unknown.

CSS has worked extensively on local and national School Siting Guidelines and under Robina Suwol's leadership, has facilitated changes at the policy level as well as at the grassroots which creates a lasting institutional protection.

Miller Recycling Corporation Touts Benefits of Recycling on America Recycles Day

Scrap Recycling

MANSFIELD, Mass., Nov. 14, 2014 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Miller Recycling Corporation celebrates America Recycles Day today by applauding all individuals who make a strong effort to recycle as part of daily life, and encouraging all to learn more about recycling and the industry. America Recycles Day, started in 1997, takes place every November 15 in a nationwide effort to promote and celebrate recycling in the U.S.

"With a history of 75-plus years in this industry, we are proud to take part in America Recycles Day, which recognizes the importance of our business. Recycling is such a vital component in the health of both the environment and U.S. economy. We hope generations to come continue to realize the importance of recycling, and continue to advance the industry as a whole," said Randy S. Miller, President of Miller Recycling.

"Having operated in Massachusetts as a family owned company for 4 generations, our 25 employees process paper, metals, plastics, and electronics. Our services contribute to the collection and recycling of over 50,000 tons per year of material. Not only do these actions assist with conserving the environment, but also avoid wasting our costly natural resources. All processing is performed at our Solar Powered recycling facility - located in Mansfield, Massachusetts. Our 300Kw solar installation provides the company with up to 70 percent of its electrical power needs," said Randy.

According to the ISRI Scrap Yearbook 2014, in 2013, U.S. scrap recyclers processed more than 130 million tons of scrap metal, paper, plastics, electronics, textiles, glass and rubber, creating significant energy savings, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, saving natural resources and limiting the amount of material that would otherwise be sent to landfills. In addition to these critical environmental benefits, the scrap recycling industry also provides much-needed support to our economy and trade balance.

In 2013 alone, the United States exported 42.8 million metric tons of scrap commodities valued at $23.7 billion to 160 countries around the world. Here at home, independent research conducted by John Dunham & Associates confirms that the scrap recycling industry directly and indirectly supports nearly 463,000 good paying jobs while generating more than $87 billion in economic activity and $10.3 billion in federal, state and local tax revenue.

"Each year America Recycles Day provides us with an important reminder not only of the need to recycle, but also the positive impact the recycling industry has on the environment, energy savings, and the economy," said Robin Wiener, president of the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI). "Together with our members, ISRI stands ready to serve as a catalyst to not only promote recycling at all levels, but also to work with and encourage manufacturers to design products with recycling in mind."

Miller Recycling Corporation is a member of ISRI, the Voice of the Recycling Industry(TM). ISRI represents more than 1,600 manufacturers and processors, brokers and industrial consumers of scrap commodities, including ferrous and nonferrous metals, paper, electronics, rubber, plastics, glass and textiles.

B2C Jewel’s New ‘Perfection’ Diamonds include Scientific Proof of Performance

Perfection Diamonds

NEW YORK, N.Y., Nov. 12, 2014 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- B2C Jewels, carrying an online inventory of over 150,000 diamonds, announced today they are raising the consumer-confidence bar by providing advanced photos for their new "Perfection" Ideal Cut diamonds. Offered at www.b2cjewels.com, no other diamond retailer of their size provides such images for online diamonds. Where many sellers post only laboratory reports for diamonds offered, B2C Jewels is now photographing thousands of diamonds in their inventory, to the delight of shoppers.

"Of course it involves time and expense," says Jay Reshamwala, Director of B2C's New York Office, "but the indisputable confidence it builds in consumers is worth the effort." He says the benefits are obvious. "A picture is worth a thousand words. We show an actual zoomed image of the diamond you're buying, along with scientific photos proving that it will have breathtaking beauty." Reshamwala confirms that every diamond in B2C's Perfection brand has a complete web-page with a suite of images. These images are also included for many other inventory items. "With more than 100,000 diamonds offered we don't have them all posted," he says, "but we do have thousands up, and images may be requested for any diamond we offer."

Perfection diamonds include an actual magnified diamond image, an American Gem Society ASET(TM) performance image, a Holloway Ideal-Scope(TM) performance image, and "Hearts & Arrows" optical precision images. Collectively, these images show clarity features, levels of light-return (versus light leaking from the diamond) and how precisely (or imprecisely) the diamond was cut in a three-dimensional sense, which impacts the intensity of internal reflections.

According to Reshamwala, every "Perfection" branded diamond falls within the top 1 percent of commonly agreed cut parameters modeled in-line with the conclusions of Marcel Tolkowsky, the mathematician who created the benchmark for maximizing brightness, fire, and scintillation in a round brilliant diamond. "Perfection diamonds are all about the highest levels of technical cut-quality."

B2C Jewels cites Perfection's "Four Ps" as Process, Proof, Pedigree and Promise. These refer to the selectivity, highly-regarded GIA grading report, demonstrable scientific photos and satisfaction guarantees which accompany Perfection. "Of course the fifth P is price," says Reshamwala. "In addition to providing modern shoppers with more data than any competitor of our size, we believe our price-point remains the most competitive in the business."

Shoppers can view all performance data from any location on their device of choice at http://www.b2cjewels.com/ . More details on the Perfection brand can be found at http://www.b2cjewels.com/Perfection-diamonds-by-b2cjewels.aspx .

About B2C Jewels:

B2C Jewels, established on the unique idea of making online purchase of jewelry easier, has grown to become one of the largest and most respected online jewelry stores. It is backed by a family which has been in the diamond industry as renowned manufacturers and wholesalers for the past 20 years. New Book Profiles Pioneering Users of Neurotech Therapies

Bionic Pioneers

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., Nov. 12, 2014 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Neurotech Press announces the publication of a new book that profiles some of the unsung heroes of medical technologies: the brave people who were among the first to use a new or experimental therapy or device. "Bionic Pioneers: Brave Neurotech Users Blaze the Trail to New Therapies" (ISBN: 978-0-9882342-2-2), by Jennifer French and James Cavuoto, tells the stories of 10 courageous individuals with neurological disabilities who made the decision to participate in a clinical trial or become a recipient of a newly approved neurotech device to treat their conditions.

These pioneering users not only improved their own quality of life-they helped advance the pace of technological progress that will undoubtedly make life even better for other people suffering from the same condition in the future.

In each chapter, we learn the often painful details of how a neurological disorder has impacted someone's life. We also gain insight into how each person came to accept a novel or experimental neurotech therapy and we learn how these marvels of engineering achieve their effect.

Among the users profiled in the book are a blind woman who receives one of the first retinal prostheses, a man who used a new rehabilitation device to restore hand and arm function after a stroke, and a new mother who discovers a new neurostimulation therapy to treat her fecal incontinence.

The book is one of the few health and medicine titles that pays tribute to the users who literally put life and limb on the line to help develop new neurotech therapies. "We think it's time that end-users got some recognition for the contributions they've made to medical science," said James Cavuoto, co-author and editor at Neurotech Press.

"Bionic Pioneers" is published by Neurotech Press and is available in print and e-book formats.

Newly launched Jovare brings 100-percent hand crafted and unique jewelry to the U.S.

jewelry from Africa

FOOTHILL RANCH, Calif., Nov. 10, 2014 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Introducing Jovare, a collection of handcrafted, affordable jewelry from Africa that caters to the woman who wants a distinctive look. Suitable for both casual and formal wear, the jewelry will be sold online exclusively at www.jovare.com. It will not be available in retail stores.

Every piece of Jovare jewelry is made by hand, so no two pieces are exactly alike. Jovare products are crafted from solid brass and copper, and are never plated. Combining the two metals creates striking, one-of-a-kind jewelry.

Most pieces are matched with gemstones native to the African continent, but the artists do incorporate quality synthetic stones to meet the demand for more colorful gems. The collection includes earrings, rings, bracelets and necklaces, with prices ranging from the mid-$30s to the mid-$70s.

Jovare was founded with the larger purpose of building a thriving market for South African artisans. The intent is to spawn opportunities to train more artists and provide them with the means to support their families financially.

Jovare works only with fair-trade suppliers that employ the artists at a higher-than-average wage. The artists also receive a percentage of sales. In addition, Jovare pays for inventory in advance, helping vendors struggling to finance their businesses.

Jovare customers can feel good knowing they are helping the artists even as they enjoy a unique piece of wearable art. Jovare was found on the principal of providing unique quality fashion jewelry pieces at an affordable price to customers in the U.S. Each piece is unique, so when you wear it, you can be confident no one else will have anything like it.

No dyes are used. Extreme heat creates the jewelry's interesting patterns and effects. Wires and bangles are bendable, so they adjust to every fit. And because each stone is contained in its own "case," no amount of bending will make the stone fall out.

The jewelry will last a lifetime, allowing customers to express their uniqueness through designs that are timeless.

About Jovare:

Jovare(TM) imports and sells unique but affordable jewelry from Africa online at http://jovare.com/ . Handmade by skilled craftsmen, the jewelry is designed for women who refuse to compromise on the finer details of their appearance.

New ‘Peon’ Device Makes Water from Thin Air; Feeding Plants in an Innovative New Conservation Effort

Peon frog

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Nov. 10, 2014 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- While Peon may look like an inconspicuous little plastic frog, he is about to make a vital contribution to global conservation efforts, by watering plants using water - well - out of thin air. It's all thanks to Canada's Waterator Industries Inc., who are pioneering a new use for Atmospheric Water Generation. With less than 3 percent of the world's water being drinkable, the device will save the precious stuff coming out of taps from being used for a non-consumable purpose.

To get Peon on the market and ribbiting its way around the world, Waterator Industries Inc. is currently raising vital funds through Kickstarter.

"With so little of the world's water being drinkable, it makes sense for us to conserve as much of it as we can for human consumption. Each year, billions of gallons of drinking water are thrown onto plants. This 'human water' not only shortens the lifespan of plants, but it leaves less of it for us," explains John Heary, CEO of Waterator Industries Inc. "Water particles in the air are instantly replenished through a number of natural processes, so it makes sense for us to develop a device that can water plants through humidity. This water is 100 percent natural and can keep plants alive for five to ten years."

Operating Peon is as simple as plugging him into the wall, inserting his "soil stake" into a potted plant and sitting back in the knowledge that the world's ultimately-scarce supplies of clean drinking water are being put to better use.

"Innovation aside for moment, Peon can make life a whole lot easier. There's no longer a need to worry about watering plants while on vacation, with The Peons three water settings, it allows the perfect trickle of water for any particular plant type. The electricity costs are just a fraction, per liter, of paying for water from the grid and users can literally set-and-forget their plants as they last many lifetimes longer than hand-watering from the tap," Heary adds.

Waterator Industries Inc. needs to raise $250,000 over the next month to keep the project alive. Those backing its Kickstarter campaign will be treated to a host of rewards ranging from their name on the company's website through to branded T-shirts, hats and Peons in a host of different colors.

This is just the start of things for the company, who plan to offer Peons in a range of sizes, shapes and designs, as well as adapt their Atmospheric Water Generation technology to other uses that support the conversation of clean drinking water.

Peon will eventually retail for $29.95 + shipping and handling. However, those backing the Kickstarter campaign can get hold of theirs before anyone else.

For more information and to support this most unique of inventions, visit: http://kck.st/1tY1GKe .

About Waterator Industries:

Waterator Industries is a small company and outsources most of its needs to various companies to help keep internal costs low, as well as to be able to improve their manufacturing capabilities at a moment's notice. This allows them to put most of the funds received directly into building inventory as well as creating new products.

The company and their products were created during a time when the economy was in decline and money for new projects was limited. Never giving up hope, they moved forward funding it completely out of their own pockets, knowing the end goal was worth it. With personal funds expended, they are now reaching out to the public to help complete the dream. Website: http://www.waterator.com/ .

$30 Billion U.S. Telecommunications Private Line Services Market Starts to Decline, says Insight Research Corp.

market analysis study

DURANGO, Colo., Nov. 3, 2014 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- The $30 billion U.S. private line services market has finally entered a period of no growth, says a market analysis study from Insight Research. Private line had always been a growth market for telcos and has been tracked by Insight for more than 18 years showing steadily increasing revenue growth. Yet the market is expected to decline 2.3 percent over the next five years, as the shift to packet-based Internet services allow customers to get higher bandwidth at lower costs which, in turn, is putting downward pressure on private line revenues.

Private lines are leased point-to-point circuits that are used for a variety of applications, including connecting enterprise locations, backhauling cell towers to mobile switching centers, and providing video services to households and mobile devices. The new study, "Private Line and Wavelength Services, 2014-2019," provides an in-depth analysis of the four major market drivers that are actually increasing equivalent circuit counts, even as revenues decline.

"We have reached one of those unique periods where demand is rising yet revenues are in decline. Price erosion and the shift to lower unit pricing at higher bandwidth tiers are to blame," says Robert Rosenberg, President of Insight Research.

"This phenomena needs to be understood in the context of a mature market. Mature markets can be very profitable, and can remain viable for years or even decades-but mature markets do not exhibit growth," Rosenberg concluded.

"Private Line and Wavelength Services, 2014-2019" evaluates the total private line market and segments it by local and long distance private line service revenue, wholesale and retail private line revenue, revenue by type of carrier, revenue by T1, T3 or OC-n circuit class, as well as the number of T1, T3, and OC-n private lines sold. Estimates of wavelength revenues are also provided.

Outstanding New Style Resumes and Letters: Great new style resumes can be 10 to 20 times more effective

New Style Resumes

NEW YORK, N.Y., Oct. 27, 2014 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Great new style resumes can be 10 to 20 times more effective, says Robert Gerberg, creator of the TAPIT Worldwide System (www.tapitworldwidesystem.com) and author of "The Professional Job Changing System," and dozens of other books on job hunting. Gerberg has released entirely new guidelines for professionals and executives seeking from $60,000 to $300,000+, with his "Outstanding New Style Resumes and Letters - 2015 Edition."

His new e-book "Outstanding New Style Resumes and Letters - 2015 Edition" is available on Amazon.com for $2.99. This short book is remarkably easy to read and it can significantly impact the results of your job search. Market changes have created an entirely new playing field-along with different guidelines for achieving success.

Far too many professionals still rely on traditional historical resumes. But with the amount of competition, the fact is that they don't work any more. Mr. Gerberg's philosophy is similar to one expressed in a major Wall Street Journal cover story entitled, "Resume Oblivion."

In a world where hundreds of resumes are submitted to a single attractive advertisement - there are seven major resume weaknesses, any of which will immediately get your resume tossed into the waste basket.

1. If your position goals aren't clearly identified at the top of your resume, readers won't be able to figure out where you fit-and won't take the time to try and do it.

2. If your resume simply looks like all the others, you'll be out of luck right from the start. Great resumes must get a person's attention. They need to be project a distinctive image and never be plain vanilla or flat. Being boring doesn't work.

3. Your resume can't reveal liabilities. If it does, you will immediately be ruled out. Liabilities such as age, being out of work for a while, having changed jobs too often are the "kiss of death." In his new book Mr. Gerberg cites 20 liabilities that most be concealed.

4. If you're just selling where you've been and your accomplishments, and not strongly emphasizing your transferable skills, you won't get to first base. Selling skills is a necessity if you want to build your appeal beyond your factual credentials. These are also a must if you want to change industries, join a growth firm, or impress C-level executives and other key decision makers. Today people get hired for what they can do.

5. If your writing isn't interesting and compelling, it won't motivate the person on the receiving end to take action. Today no one takes the time to study resumes. The words you select need to have some reasonable punch, substance and sparkle - otherwise it will be sure to end up in the "reject pile."

6. If your resume doesn't provide a 20 to 30 second summary, it is likely to go unread. So work hard at developing 15 to 20 lines of copy that have some "wow" value. And, remember the worst thing you can do is undersell yourself.

7. If your resume isn't scanning ready, you'll never be considered for a great many positions where you could have performed very well. When employers and recruiters are looking for someone, they input keywords - bring up matching resumes - and review them. That determines who gets the interviews.

Novel Protein May Hold Promise for Enhancing Artificial Tear Formulations

PLYMOUTH, Minn., Oct. 14, 2014 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- SilkTears, LLC, a privately held, research-based and product-driven biotechnology company, announced today that advances in protein-based excipient technology may allow for the development of artificial tear products that will more closely represent certain characteristics of the natural makeup of the tear film, and may help the significant population of patients suffering from dry eye syndrome.

SilkTears, LLC has developed a naturally derived water-soluble protein product, termed HXP-27, which shows promise for use as an excipient in ophthalmic formulations. A key component of the natural tear film is protein, which heretofore has not been used as an ingredient in existing commercially available over-the-counter (OTC) artificial tear products. Protein is an essential nutrient to the eye's surface and is widely published by experts in the field of ocular surface disease management as being necessary for healthy tear film formation, and the lack of certain proteins is thought to be a significant driver of dry eye conditions.

Paul M. Karpecki, OD, FAAO, head of the ocular surface disease clinic and director of clinical research at Koffler Vision Group, states, "Proteins have long been thought to be the key component providing success in advanced dry eye treatments. This naturally-derived protein and its ability to effectively integrate with a demulcent, allows for improved spreading in vitro and may play a key role in the management of dry eye disease."

The addition of protein to formulations has been a challenge in the past due to limiting factors related to biocompatibility, material instability, and limited production capability to meet the demands of OTC tear products. SilkTears, LLC's patented technology has displayed promising results in pre-clinical studies to be biocompatible when applied to the eye, and has demonstrated prolonged shelf stability. In addition, the protein is derived from a natural renewable resource that allows for cost effective production and is readily available for commercial scaling purposes.

About SilkTears, LLC:

SilkTears, LLC is a privately held, research-based and product-driven biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery and development of the patented, water soluble protein, HXP-27, for use in ophthalmic pharmaceuticals to enhance certain formulation characteristics. 100th Anniversary of One of America’s Greatest Humanitarian Endeavors Few Americans Know About

Behind the Lines

DENVER, Colo., Oct. 6, 2014 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- On Oct, 22, 1914, less than three months after the start of World War I, one of the largest food relief programs the world has ever seen was begun when the Commission for Relief in Belgium (CRB) was founded in London by a group of prominent Americans, according to Jeffrey B. Miller, author of a new nonfiction book, "Behind the Lines, WWI's little-known story of German occupation, Belgian resistance, and the band of Yanks who saved millions from starvation" (ISBN: 978-0990689300; Milbrown Press), which chronicles the start of the CRB, the first CRB delegates, and Belgium under the harsh German rule.

The CRB, working with its counterpart in Belgium, the Comite National (CN), fed more than 9 million Belgians and northern French behind German lines for four years as the "Great War" took the lives of approximately 9 million soldiers. The CRB bought, shipped and delivered food through an English blockade into German-occupied Belgium. Thirty to fifty relief ships were in transit every day. From Rotterdam the food was transferred to more than 300 canal barges and brought into Belgium via its canal system. The food was then distributed by more than 40,000 Belgians working with the CN.

"Americans were enthusiastic supporters of the CRB in 1914. Today few have heard the name, let alone the story," says Miller.

The CRB was founded and led by Herbert C. Hoover, who became known after the war as the "Great Humanitarian," and later became America's 31st president (1929-1933), in part because of his WWI work. The privately operated CRB was funded by worldwide donations and government subsidies from America, Britain, France and Belgium.

"This was a much more lasting and complex and diplomatically unprecedented initiative than anything that might arise from a temporary crisis," says George H. Nash, Hoover biographer and author of several volumes about him. "The CRB/CN relief effort was organized across the entire country of Belgium; every community was fed, every civilian had to receive assistance. That's what makes the CRB stand apart from everything that came before it in the way of humanitarian intervention."

Ultimately, the CRB not only saved more than 9 million people from starvation; it changed the way Americans saw themselves and how the world saw America.

"The CRB is significant to everybody who cares about humanitarian relief because it was a turning point in history," says Margaret Hoover, great granddaughter of Hoover, best-selling author and Cable News Network contributor. "It was the moment where international relief became operationally effective on such a massive scale. Nobody had thought that an individual could take on the feeding of an entire nation in the middle of a world war. This totally transformed what America realized it could do in terms of its own role in the world. America had a role in the world -- not only to achieve success and freedom and welfare for its own people, but then it could give back to the rest of the world."

That shift in perspective happened not only in America but around the world. "The good will and humanitarian aid created by the CRB's work -- and later by the work of the American Relief Administration after the war-engendered a worldwide feeling that America could be a benefactor of humanitarian aid on a scale never seen before," says Branden Little, scholar of humanitarian relief of the early 20th century and professor of history at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah.

For Hoover personally, the CRB meant a transformation from successful mining engineer to a man admired around the world. According to historian Nash, "Hoover became an international hero. How were people becoming heroes in WWI? Mostly as soldiers on the battlefield, or great generals organizing victories on the battlefields, or civilian world leaders. Hoover made his reputation not by killing people or organizing warfare, but by saving people from the consequences of warfare."

More information about the CRB, Herbert Hoover and the CRB delegates, can be found at the Hoover Institution Archives at Stanford University, Calif. ( http://www.Hoover.org/ ), and the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library and Museum at West Branch, Iowa ( http://www.hoover.archives.gov ).

National Law Journal Names Weitz and Luxenberg to ‘Elite Trial Lawyers’ List, Reveals 2 Keys to Firm’s $9-Billion Actos Verdict

NY trial lawyers

NEW YORK, N.Y., Oct. 1, 2014 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Two keys that earlier this year led to a $9-billion courtroom victory by Weitz & Luxenberg, P.C., against the maker of the diabetes drug Actos, were revealed Monday when National Law Journal named the New York City-based personal injury firm to its debut list of "America's Elite Trial Lawyers."

Key Number One - a massive investment of time devoted to pre-trial preparation in order to anticipate and thwart attempts by the defendant's legal team to spring surprises on the Weitz & Luxenberg lawyers.

Key Number Two - at all times being truthful and honest with the jury.

National Law Journal divulged these success keys in a Sept. 29 article introducing its inaugural list of the nation's Top 50 plaintiffs' law firms.

The list of "America's Elite Trial Lawyers" was compiled by the journal in cooperation with the legal-focused news website Law.com.

Merely to be considered for this list, a law firm needed to show at least one recent big verdict or settlement arising from a high-stakes case.

In addition, list hopefuls needed a legacy of impressive victories over the span of the last five years.

Comments obtained by National Law Journal from Weitz & Luxenberg client Terrence Allen, plaintiff in the Actos case, are illustrative.

"Day after day [the Weitz & Luxenberg lawyers] were there, always prepared, always ready," Allen was quoted by the journal as saying.

"Not once were the lawyers on the defense able to do something that caught [my lawyers] by surprise. I often wonder how many exhausting hours of preparation [were] done to be that good."

Delving deeper into the law firm's success secrets, the publication learned that Weitz & Luxenberg fills its attorney ranks with former government prosecutors and other lawyers who know what it takes to bring wrongdoers to justice.

"[Attorneys we recruit] have a lot of trial experience when they come to us," co-founding member Perry Weitz told National Law Journal.

The periodical noted that Weitz & Luxenberg employs dozens of such heavy-hitters.

Among those it mentioned by name were Paul Pennock, who manages Weitz & Luxenberg's Drug & Medical Device Litigation group, and associate attorney Jonathan Sedgh.

Pennock is a lead lawyer in the firm. He, Mark Lanier and Richard Arsenault served as lead lawyers in the case against Actos.

National Law Journal also observed that Weitz & Luxenberg exerts a national presence, thanks to offices in Manhattan, Los Angeles and just outside Philadelphia in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.

National Law Journal and Law.com decided to create the "America's Elite Trial Lawyers" roster in order to identify and lionize the 50 plaintiffs' law firms responsible for the combined total of $10 billion in recoveries won at trial during 2013 alone.

The two organizations contend that the work of firms like Weitz & Luxenberg will likely yield 2014 recoveries surpassing those of the previous year.

About Weitz & Luxenberg:

Weitz & Luxenberg, P.C., is among the nation's leading and most readily recognized personal injury law firms. Weitz & Luxenberg's numerous litigation areas include: mesothelioma, defective medicine and devices, environmental pollutants, accidents, personal injury, and medical malpractice. Victims of accidents are invited to rely on Weitz & Luxenberg's more than 25 years of experience handling such cases. Milk Jugs and Marijuana: The first recycled and recyclable packaging manufactured specifically for the legal cannabis industry

Terrapin Care Station

DENVER, Colo., Sept. 30, 2014 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- In response to the estimated 287,279 pounds of legal marijuana that will be sold in Colorado this year and the millions of containers used to package it, Higher Standard Packaging of Denver announced today the introduction of the first eco-friendly containers composed of FDA-approved, recycled milk jug plastic and manufactured specifically for the marijuana industry.

R2 Containers are created from recycled milk jugs consisting of 100 percent high-density polyethylene (HDPE-2). Manufactured in the U.S. and BPA free, this resin meets stringent purity standards through a patented cleaning process that eliminates all contaminants without exposing the resin to any chemical treatments or processes. The FDA has approved the recycled resin for food contact.

The resin meets strict sustainability standards and according to EPA data, it accounts for far less environmental impact than virgin resin used in other containers. Production of recycled resin uses 90 percent less energy and emits 78 percent less greenhouse gases than virgin resin.

Higher Standard Packaging announced that Terrapin Care Station, with two dispensaries in Boulder and two dispensaries opening in Aurora, will be the first cannabis company in the nation to package marijuana using R2 Containers.

Christine Kirk, with a degree in environmental science and the packaging manager for Terrapin Care Station, inspired the search for more environmentally-friendly packaging last January as she watched thousands of plastic bottles leave the dispensaries.

Terrapin Care Station places recycling receptacles in its dispensaries to help minimize the environmental impact of its containers, but Kirk stated, "Collecting used bottles just isn't enough to address the environmental implications of creating and using virgin plastic resin to manufacture all of the containers needed to package marijuana and marijuana-infused products. Our industry needs an eco-friendly container that can be recycled and won't affect the recycling stream adversely."

Chris Woods, owner of Terrapin Care Station dispensaries, said, "This new solution makes us feel better about fostering an environmentally-friendly approach to child-proof marijuana packaging while maintaining the freshness of our high quality products for consumers." Tara Riseley, Terrapin's Brand Manager, added she is "excited to round out Terrapin's sustainability efforts."

Echoing the need for more environmentally friendly packaging Morgan Iwersen, an edibles manufacturer and owner of Canyon Cultivation in Denver said, "It is our responsibility as manufacturers to be positive examples for not only our industry but all industries when it comes to the role we play in our nation's carbon footprint. Utilizing an eco-friendly container that also provides child-resistant closures is a no brainer."

Julie Dooley, president and co-creator of Julie's Baked Goods in Denver, added, "Julie's Baked Goods is excited to see a product which addresses the issue of environmental waste with packaging within our industry. Reducing our carbon footprint is a priority for Julie's Baked Goods, and it is encouraging to see other entrepreneurs working toward the same priority."

Higher Standard Packaging, doing business under the umbrella of d&b consulting, llc, was founded in Denver, Colorado last February by Barbara Diner and Deborah Baker. "Our company caters to finding packaging solutions for the cannabis industry, and these containers are the result of the market demand for eco-friendly packaging," said Baker.

Offering a truly "green" option to the cannabis industry that is competitively priced, Higher Standard Packaging is currently taking orders for R2 Containers in numerous sizes, suitable for packaging concentrates to an ounce of cannabis.

For more information, contact Barbara Diner or Deb Baker at Higher Standard Packaging at 720-583-6535, or visit the website, http://www.higherstandardpackaging.com/ . To learn more about Terrapin Care Station, email info@terrapincarestation.com.

Signs of ‘Connected Consciousness’ Detected on Global Scale

MOUNTAIN LAKES, N.J., Sept. 29, 2014 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Our individual minds, though distinct and uniquely ours, may also join with others in a kind of mental symphony that now and then becomes audible against a prevailing background of static. That's a research conclusion appearing today on the World Future Society's website. Reported by futurist Richard Samson, Director of EraNova Institute, the conclusion is based on 16 years of analysis by the Global Consciousness Project (GCP), based in Princeton, New Jersey.

The research project, led by cognitive psychologist Roger Nelson, began at Princeton University in 1998 and continues as an international consortium with logistical support from the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS), founded by Apollo 14 astronaut Edgar Mitchell.

After monitoring more than 480 world events, the article reports, GCP researchers have accumulated strong evidence of some kind of transpersonal mentality that seems to emerge when many people share a common concern or experience. At such times, a global network of devices employing quantum tunneling has found weak but definite signs of coherence arising out of background "noise" or randomness.

Although the evidence has been known by specialists for years, it has grown so strong it now warrants public attention, Samson asserts. "And it comes at a time when the materialistic assumptions of traditional science, particularly physics, are being challenged."

The measured effect, though faint and fickle, is statistically significant to an extremely high degree, according to Nelson and his fellow researchers. It shows up during times of crisis or celebration, such as an earthquake or New Year's Eve, when millions of people focus on the same thing at the same time.

Although far from final, the research suggests that our minds may not be bounded by our heads but somehow extend out into the world and commingle, at least at times. "What we can interpret from our experiments is that we really are interconnected," says Nelson. "Human beings are simply not isolated islands of consciousness."

The report, "Signs of 'Connected Consciousness' Detected on Global Scale," is available now on Samson's World Future Society "Futurist" blog: http://www.wfs.org/blogs/richard-samson/ .

Nelson laid the groundwork for the Global Consciousness Project at the Princeton Engineering Anomalies Research (PEAR) laboratory at Princeton University, established by physicist Robert Jahn. GCP co-developers include Greg Nelson, John Walker, Dean Radin, Paul Bethke, Richard Adams, Peter Bancel, and Rick Berger.

Enviromax Announces Complete New Line of Revolutionary External Prostate Massagers

Prostate Joy Pillow

ANCHORAGE, Alaska, Sept. 8, 2014 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- External prostate massage is a safe, easy, and fun way for men to learn how to stimulate their prostate, says men's health product manufacturer Enviromax.

"With our new product line, men simply sit on an external prostate massager to increase circulation to their prostate," says Adam McVay, Owner/Inventor, at Enviromax. "Increasing circulation has many health benefits according to research studies conducted by prestigious universities including Harvard Medical School. As an extra benefit, prostate massage can also make men feel better than they ever dreamed possible!"

The original Prostate Cradle was created in 2004 as the world's first patented external prostate massager. "The Cradle" was introduced as a device for men's health, but soon after it was introduced, Enviromax customers began writing in to say they were having the best sex of their lives while sitting on the Prostate Cradle.

The next model created by Enviromax was the Extra Soft Prostate Cradle. It is designed for men with sore or tender prostates. Enviromax's third model, the Prostate Jewel, was created due to customer demand for a more firm massager. "The Jewel" has the same anatomically correct shape as the Cradle, but without the cushioning holes for more stimulation to the prostate.

Enviromax is very excited about its newest and most affordable "entry-level" prostate massager called the Prostate Joy Pillow. The "Joy Pillow" is truly the softest prostate massager ever invented.

"Similar to the Cradle, the Joy Pillow can be purchased with a built-in vibrator feature that really helps to get men's prostate motor running!" adds McVay.

All Enviromax massagers are available in different sizes and colors.

"Men all over the world are discovering the joys of external prostate massage because it is so easy and accessible. No oils or towels are required. External prostate massagers offer both a complement and an alternative to traditional internal prostate massagers," explains McVay.

Enviromax products have been praised by Medical Doctors, urologists, and Licensed Massage Therapists. The Prostate Cradle has been featured in Muscle & Fitness magazine, as well as two popular books, "Healthy Prostate" by Ronald Bazar, and "The Ultimate Guide to Prostate Pleasure" by Charlie Glickman, PhD.

External prostate massagers are for adult men, ages 18 to 80+ years old, who want to maintain their physical health and improve their love-life. This includes men who are familiar with prostate massage, and men who may have been turned off in the past by traditional internal prostate massagers.

Seventy-two Cats Dead and Alleged Animal Abuser Unable to be Prosecuted Due to Humane Officer Breach of Duty

cat rescue

PITTSBURGH, Pa., Aug. 29, 2014 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Neighbors and concerned citizens are appalled that an Allegheny County Humane Officer who was called to investigate the abuse and abandonment of over 70 cats, removed two cats and sent the rest to die, according to Frankie's Friends Cat Rescue.

Kathy Hecker, a Humane Officer working for the largest "No-Kill" shelter in Pittsburgh, investigated a call for hoarding and abandonment of a large number of cats in a Mt. Lebanon, Pa. house. The cats were found in unsanitary conditions and without food and water; abandoned after the tenant, Jennifer Fix, was evicted.

Hecker took two cats and allegedly "refused to take any of the other cats because most of them were too sick or too wild to be saved," according to Big Daddy Wildlife Removal, the agency contracted to trap and kill the remaining cats. Seventy-two cats were removed and destroyed, while neighbors were allegedly told they were going to the "No-Kill" shelter. An additional five kittens and two adult cats were taken to the shelter due to pressure by neighbors.

Cats that were able to be removed from traps prior to being taken by the wildlife exterminators were found to be in good health by a veterinarian. None of the 72 cats were evaluated by a veterinarian for health or temperament prior to their death. Although animal abandonment is considered a form of animal cruelty according to Pennsylvania law, Hecker has not yet filed charges against Fix, and is unlikely to do so since all of the cats that would be considered "evidence" have already been removed from the property.

"It is an absolute breach of duty when an officer sworn to protect animals not only sends seventy-two cats to their deaths without a proper veterinary evaluation, but in doing so, also destroys any chance of successfully prosecuting a person who will likely subject animals to abuse at her next address," said Dr. Becky L. Morrow, Founder of Frankie's Friends Cat Rescue and expert witness in the Tiger Ranch institutionalized hoarding case.

Margo Cicci, a member of the Pittsburgh Feral Cat Movement, was involved in the rescue attempt for these cats. "When we first heard that a Humane Agent was involved, we were relieved, thinking that everything would be done correctly so that charges could be filed against the former tenant, and every effort would be made to save as many of these cats as possible. To find out that this is how the Humane Agent handled it is beyond devastating."

Please contact Frankie's Friends Cat Rescue at (724) 230-6485 for more information or to interview those involved in this case.

Frankie's Friends Cat Rescue was formed in 2010, after a sanctuary was created for unadoptable cats rescued from the Tiger Ranch Cruelty Case. Frankie's Friends is dedicated to relieving suffering caused by cruelty/neglect, disease, injury, and homelessness of cats, by providing shelter, low or no-cost veterinary care, and spaying and neutering thousands of cats annually. Ice Bucket Challenge Morphs into Rice Bucket Challenge

Rice Bucket Challenge

NEW YORK, N.Y. and TANAUAN, Philippines, Aug. 25, 2014 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Since Spring, the "Ice Bucket Challenge" has raised over $80 million for funding ALS research. Inspired by this success, the Rice Bucket Challenge has been created by non-profit groups including the World Mind Network, Adelina Foundation and BatangasVarsitarian.net.

According to Foundation president Reina Timbol, UNESCO estimates that 842 million people around the world suffer from malnutrition. The Rice Bucket Challenge invites participants to help end world hunger by spreading weird photos of themselves, together with the organization's poster in the same picture, while also donating to the U.N.'s World Food Programme. Those who do so may have their photos publicized on a website, entered in a contest for strangest entry, and may have their donations to the WFP matched.

Timbol points out that despite the admirable success of the Ice Bucket Challenge, there are some obstacles that could hamper further participation. For one thing, in a world stricken with drought, dumping several gallons of ice water on people might not give the best message about saving this precious resource, especially if repeated millions of times.

Also, in a small number of cases, there have been seizures reported from the shock of an instant ice bath.

The Rice Bucket Challenge attempts to preserve the fun aspect of the Ice Bucket Challenge, by encouraging creativity and silliness in the photos submitted. But the fact that no one needs to obtain a bucket of ice water, or suffer the unpleasant effects thereof, may increase participation.

The Rice Bucket Challenge also invites those who wish to submit their photos to the organization's website, and to be entered in a contest to determine the strangest picture.

New Discovery Opens the Door to Possible Cure for Heart Disease

Dr. Larry Weisenthal

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif., July 21, 2014 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Larry Weisenthal, M.D., Ph.D., today announced new findings that unravel mysteries about the root cause of atherosclerosis - the narrowing of blood vessels that leads to heart attack and stroke. It is a big step toward developing drugs, possibly in the very near future, that prevent the most common forms of heart disease.

Larry Weisenthal, M.D., Ph.D., is a physician and researcher. He has discovered a previously unknown biological mechanism that accounts for vascular calcification - hardening of the arteries. Dr. Weisenthal has named the new mechanism MCED (pronounced EM-sed). It stands for Massively Calcified Endosome Death. By targeting MCED with new drugs, he feels it should be possible to stop vascular calcification from occurring, even among individuals with high cholesterol.

"Cholesterol levels probably won't matter," says Dr. Weisenthal, "at the end of the day the most important cause of arterial blockage may be the presence or absence of circulating MCED factors."

According to the report, Dr. Weisenthal has discovered that, under some circumstances, artery-forming cells, called endothelial cells, die in a special way that involves release of highly calcified micro-particles. These escape from dying endothelial cells and trigger the body's normal immune response. This causes inflammation within the blood vessel and narrows the opening through which blood flows.

Scientists understand that arteries do not literally become clogged with fat, like sludge in an old sewer pipe. Instead, the wall of the artery undergoes an apparent thickening as part of an inflammatory process. But what causes the inflammation to occur? That is exactly the mystery Dr. Weisenthal has unraveled. He contends that MCED is the cause of arterial inflammation.

Until now, no theory fully explained the perplexing mysteries of heart disease. Why do some people who eat all the "wrong" foods live long, healthy lives while other people whose diets appear ideal have heart problems? Why do some people with sky-high cholesterol counts have squeaky-clean arteries while other people, with "good" cholesterol levels, suffer narrowing of the arteries, heart attack, and stroke? Clearly, cholesterol seems to be a factor but, just as clearly, it is not the most important factor.

According to Dr. Weisenthal, MCED explains everything.

Dr. Weisenthal's laboratory experiments have shown that certain chemicals such as cholesterol can indeed cause MCED to occur - but not in everyone. Dr. Weisenthal has shown that blood drawn from different persons varies widely in the ability to prevent MCED from occurring. He says this probably is due to substances - called factors - that are contained in the blood.

Dr. Weisenthal believes it will be possible to isolate MCED-inhibiting factors in the blood and then develop drugs that mimic them. Conceivably, persons at risk for atherosclerosis could be identified through a simple blood test. Such persons would then receive a daily pill to inhibit MCED and prevent the narrowing of arteries.

"That's the importance of this work," says Dr. Weisenthal, "It answers the most important questions relating to the genesis of atherosclerosis and identifies the target for specific drugs to prevent and treat it."

Importantly, only endothelial cells are subject to this particular form of cell death. No other cell Dr. Weisenthal has tested can be made to die in exactly this way. This is additional, strong support for his theory.

The report is available online at http://biorxiv.org/content/early/2014/07/15/007112 .

The discovery itself and the story behind it are featured at this web address: http://vasocell.com/ .

About Dr. Larry Weisenthal:

Dr. Larry Weisenthal, M.D., Ph.D. is board-certified in medical oncology and internal medicine. He also holds a Ph.D. degree in Pharmacology Research. Dr. Weisenthal owns a laboratory-based medical practice in which he personalizes chemotherapy treatments for individual cancer patients using a test he developed that shows how each patient's living cancer cells respond when exposed in the laboratory to a broad range of chemotherapy drugs. His laboratory website is http://weisenthalcancer.com/. Dr. Weisenthal is also a researcher, author, lecturer, and Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of California Irvine.

Oceanside Jewelers announces the opening of Oceanside Pawn Shops

Chad Elliott

OCEANSIDE, Calif., June 12, 2014 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Master jeweler Chad Elliott of Oceanside Jewelers has expanded their award winning jewelry design storefront to now include Oceanside Pawnshops. Having applied for and received a pawnbroker's license from the State of California to offer pawn loans in exchange for personal jewelry, Oceanside Jewelers is pleased to expand its services as a pawn loan specialist in the area of gold, jewelry, diamonds, fine watches, diamonds, and gemstones of all types.

With an onsite master jeweler and a GIA (Gemological Institute of America) certified gemologist, this new distinction in added service benefit is a perfect fit for Oceanside Jewelers and the city of Oceanside itself. Oceanside pawnshops has launched a new website in support of this endeavor. The web site - oceansidepawnshops.com - contains helpful information regarding pawn loans, the valuation process, as well as the terms and qualifications of collateral loans.

Ever wonder how a jeweler's pawn loan is transacted? All pawnshops offer collateral loans on valuable items, and interest rates on all loans are regulated by the State of California. When a customer does not repay or renew the loan by an agreed upon date, the pawnshop keeps the items. Pawn loans are popular because of the speed and efficiency of the process compared to a bank loan, and they also allow the customer to recover their pledged items as opposed to selling them. This gives Oceanside Jewelers a wider and more flexible range of options in jewelry services to offer its customers and the Oceanside community as a whole.

"We like to consider ourselves a true jewelry pawn shop," says Elliott. "Our staff of professional jewelers and gemologists is highly knowledgeable about fine jewelry, precious gems, diamonds, diamond rings and diamond wedding rings for women, as well as fine watches. This allows us to give the best possible assessment of your fine jewelry."

Aqua Explorers Inc. Announces Release of New Book: ‘How to Make Your Home Flood Safe’ by Capt. Dan Berg

Flood Safe

NEW YORK, N.Y., May. 29, 2014 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Capt. Dan Berg, a waterfront homeowner for close to 30 years, announced today the launch of his new book, the first of its kind, regarding home safety, the protection from natural disasters and mitigation to prevent future damage. "How To Make Your Home Flood Safe" (ISBN: 978-1494923754) is the complete homeowners guide to protecting, rebuilding, or lifting your home to prevent future flood damage.

In recent years it has become apparent that natural disasters, including hurricanes and resulting floods, have become an increasingly common issue for homeowners. Repairing the destruction caused by these natural events has either put many in debt, or cost them their life savings. Now, with this informative new book, property owners can learn how to prepare in advance and protect their most valuable assets.

"Flood Safe" is a 6x9 inch, full color, soft cover text which provides information designed to help property owners, prepare for, clean up after and prevent future flood damage. Readers will learn how to prevent floodwaters from entering their homes, avert mold growth as well as proper utilization of water-resistant construction materials. The book contains a wealth of the author's real-life solutions, learned from over 30 years of his own flood-related experiences. During the process of dealing with FEMA, public adjusters, surveyors, architects, building departments, house-lifting companies and contractors, the author learned - often the hard way - how the mitigation process works.

This book passes that information along and provides homeowners with a simple-to-follow guide allowing them to not only prevent water from entering their homes and to make the right decisions regarding rebuilding or mitigation, but to successfully navigate the seemingly endless government paperwork that many homeowners must deal with following any natural disaster.

"Flood Safe" is set up in chronological order, starting with storm preparation and preventing flood damage, moving on to post-flood cleanup and mold prevention. Following sections detail repairs with water-resistant materials as well as extensive information on home elevation.

House lifting is perhaps the ultimate means of flood mitigation, or preventing future flood damage. If you are considering lifting your home, this book details not only the types of lifting techniques for different home designs, but what homeowners can expect during the process. Readers will also learn how to make the finished lifted home have spectacular curb appeal.

This text is packed with hundreds of full-color photographs and illustrations. Included is a complete pictorial record showing the author's home-elevation project.

The author's goal is to provide a resource that prevents homeowners from wasting valuable time and effort. He gives the information needed prior to, during and after a flood.

Segoma’s Next Generation Diamond Display Technology

Segoma 360 Degree

LOS ANGELES, Calif., May 28, 2014 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Segoma Imaging Technologies will be launching its next generation of diamond 360 imaging technology later this year. Segoma Imaging Technologies has revolutionized the diamond industry by providing diamond traders and buyers with what they really need: the ability to view any diamond - exactly as it is - in 360 degrees.

When it comes to evaluating a diamond's shape, color, clarity, beauty and sparkle, viewing a diamond photographed by Segoma in 360 degrees is as holding the stone in your hand. This proprietary technology replaces the need to evaluate diamonds in person, saving countless shipping hours and unnecessary flights around the world.

Segoma is already an established name for digital diamond display. Many savvy customers already demand "a Segoma" from traders and manufacturers before they contemplate finalizing a purchase. Segoma reports that since the beginning of this year, already two and a half million potential buyers have viewed almost a hundred thousand of Segoma images, resulting in millions of dollars in sales.

Ever since Segoma launched its first generation cutting-edge diamond imagery, competitors have worked tirelessly to try and replicate the same success. Segoma's images are completely authentic - they do not undergo any image processing or manipulation and/or aesthetic enhancements. What you see is what you get.

"Our first generation of diamond scanners were built to document reality and ensure accuracy, transparency and security. Our next generation of automatic diamond scanners give the ability to see a diamond from all sides while allowing to see the exact shape color clarity and cut of a diamond in a way which was never before possible, even better than our first generation," says Litan Yahav, CEO of Segoma. "Gone are the days of sending physical diamonds to prospective buyers. It costs too much, the risk is too high, and there is a more efficient way. Our diamond scanners now enable to capture diamonds in all their magnificence - at the highest possible resolution - to make inspecting a diamond an ease and a pleasure."

Segoma's photography centers are located within the main diamond bourses in the world - Mumbai, New York and Ramat Gan - allowing diamond dealers the flexibility to send diamonds directly and receive them back on the next business day.
