Free At-Home Exercise Videos Offer Moms & Young Children Physical Activity While Teaching Age Appropriate Developmental Skills

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. /ScoopCloud/ -- Moms of babies and preschoolers can get fit while spending quality time with their child with short home workouts that incorporate animated graphics and techniques to keep children entertained, says certified personal trainer Amy Burton. In response to the COVID-19 crisis, these videos are now offered for free on YouTube to make it convenient and affordable for a mother to exercise in the comfort of her home.

The "Back In Shape With Baby" series contains low-impact workouts that target areas affected by pregnancy and childbirth. The program is unique because it incorporates baby into the workouts and utilizes on-screen graphics throughout the video to help keep baby's attention.

The videos were designed for new moms with babies age 6 weeks-12 months. A 16-page Educational Booklet that provides best exercises and tips for new moms is available as a free download at https://backinshapewithbaby.com/for-moms/.

The "Energize & Exercise With Your Preschooler" series was created to help mothers of young children fit a workout into their busy schedules while teaching children good exercise habits. Graphic animation throughout the videos keep children entertained. Some of the age-appropriate developmental skills that are addressed in workouts include the alphabet, numbers, days of the week, months of the year, colors, and shapes.

Amy Burton is the creator of these videos. She did so when her own child was young and wanted to fit exercise into her day while working full-time. Burton explains "I decided to make an effort to promote these timeless videos to offer families a healthy and fun way to spend time together while gyms and playgrounds are closed. My son is now grown but I think about all the moms who may feel isolated right now and struggling to care for new babies and young children without a support network while stay-at-home orders are in effect."

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, over 70% of adults are overweight or obese and 13.9% of children age 2-5 are considered obese in the United States.

"With the growing problem of obesity in both adults and children, it is more important than ever to provide easy ways to help people of all ages increase the amount of physical activity done each day," Burton said.

The 10, 15 and 20-minute video options promote interaction between mother and child. The movements help to develop coordination and increase physical activity among children. Burton consulted with medical experts when creating the videos. No equipment is needed for the exercise routines and all workouts are available for free.

Cake in a Card? InstaCake Cards are Ideal Way to Share Virtual Celebrations

VANCOUVER, British Columbia /ScoopCloud/ -- InstaCake has figured out the perfect way for people to share their love - even if they're quarantined at home alone. These cakes in a card are ideal for just about anyone who has something to celebrate - a birthday, anniversary, job promotion and more.

Originally designed to help people celebrate birthdays together while apart, the current stay-at-home orders circling the globe, have opened up a whole new world for InstaCake. It's stepping up to help spread a little happiness and love and it just so happens to come with frosting on top.

"I've had many people share stories with me about their social media celebrations," Sarah Neal, the founder/creator of InstaCake, says. "For example, a group of business colleagues who were all working at home were able to share in a co-worker's birthday celebration. They all got online and their colleague opened the card, made the cake and blew out the candle. Everyone cheered her on."

Neal shares that from a young age, baking was always a passion. She worked in food technology for a large European frozen food supplier and learned some tricks of the trade that later helped her to launch InstaCake.

The clever card design incorporates all the elements for a delicious cake that can be made just about anywhere, anytime. All the recipient needs to do is add a few tablespoons of water and then place it in the microwave for one minute. There's frosting, sprinkles and a candle too.

"InstaCake is much more than a gimmick cake," Neal says. "I've been baking since I was six and had to create something that was not just fun and looked good, but tasted delicious too. This fits the bill."

All cakes are gluten and peanut free. They're made with real eggs, sugar, butter, rice flour and high-quality vanilla. After countless blind taste tests, a light, fluffy and flavorful cake emerged.

"Now people can have their cake in a card and eat it too," Neal says. "It's not just a novelty, it's a celebration in a box."

InstaCake's cards include a personalized message and are available with free delivery in North America. For outside mainland USA or worldwide orders, please visit: https://instacakecards.com/

Innovative Telehealth Company Gives Expectant Mothers and Parents Peace of Mind During COVID-19 Crisis

LOS ANGELES, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- No greater concern exists in the current crisis of COVID-19 than for expectant mothers and their loved ones. The problem is two-fold, says BabyLiveAdvice. Women don't want to risk their health by exposing themselves and their unborn or newborn babies to the virus. And, even if they did try to seek outside support during these trying times, an overwhelmed healthcare system cannot meet the need.

Over the next three months, nearly a million babies will be born in the United States. Reliable information for them will remain scarce as inundated prenatal providers working in healthcare facilities with limited protective gear are overburdened and struggling to respond to patients' most basic queries.

The good news is that a Los Angeles-based, woman-owned social enterprise - BabyLiveAdvice - is ready to provide the most accurate, reliable and helpful information to its anxious members as they are going through life happiest event in fear of the unknown. The company provides expectant and new mothers with lactation support and online educational breastfeeding classes.

"Now more than ever we need to support breastfeeding considering it is one of the few reliable preventative health behaviors in this circumstance," says Genevieve Colvin, IBCLC, who is lead lactation consultant and a board member of BabyLiveAdvice.

BabyLiveAdvice partners with healthcare providers and health systems to support coordinated, comprehensive prenatal and postpartum care anywhere, by filling the educational gap for expectant mothers and parents. The end result is reduced complications and better outcomes for mothers and their babies. The company uses a HIPAA-Secure Telehealth platform, offered online through chats, calls or video face-to-face engagements between the mother/parent and a nurse/provider. Complete virtual support is offered from preconception to early childhood.

In addition to one-on-one consultations, BabyLiveAdvice offers peer and professionally led support groups and classes via the web. Programs are designed to bring people together, recognizing the shared emotional experience of pregnancy, motherhood and parenthood.

Most recently, BabyLiveAdvice partnered with three new groups:
* GravidaMom - https://www.gravidamom.com/ - a world-class video course company that also provides information guides;
* Peer Support Solutions - https://www.peersupportsolutions.com/
* Postpartum Support International - https://www.postpartum.net/.

"We want to provide members with a variety of options for peer support and online education," Sigi Marmorstein, founder and CEO, BabyLiveAdvice, says. "Our goal is to decrease isolation and improve the knowledge, health and wellbeing of our members, not just during this global health crisis, but far into the future."

BabyLiveAdvice's program has been piloted extensively, and to date helped thousands of parents to get one-on-one support in their language by a caring provider rather than through pamphlets, blogs, Google searches or articles.

Its mission to help parents and improve the statistics surrounding pregnancy, births and child rearing is working.

Advanced Mediation Solutions Founder Provides Helpful Tips for Divorcees During the Coronavirus

HADDONFIELD, N.J. /ScoopCloud/ -- Getting divorced is a major life change, and the process is stressful even under the best of circumstances. Now as the nation grapples with the COVID-19 outbreak, it has pushed many divorcing spouses to the breaking point. "This is a trying time for everyone in our country, but it is especially hard on individuals who were already dealing with other major difficulties," says Roseann Vanella, founder of Advanced Mediation Solutions.

She adds, "During times like these, we all need to come together and do what we can to help those who are hurting."

Couples who are planning a divorce or have started process already face uncertain futures, but now they have several other issues to deal with as well. For starters, we are all trying to practice good hygiene and follow social distancing guidelines to help prevent the spread of this virus, which for most of us means a radical disruption to our regular routines.

"Right now, divorcing spouses have a lot of additional things to worry about," Vanella continues. "What if somebody in the family gets the virus? Or worse yet, what if one of their aging family members gets it? How do you deal with work with the kids at home? How do I keep my appointments if I'm quarantined in my house?"

"For many people, schedules have changed drastically, and they are scrambling to try to make everything work while they are in trying to proceed with their divorce. Finances are suddenly getting tighter, many of the courts are closed or have limited hours, and major schedule changes often necessitate revisiting co-parenting plans."

Coping with a Divorce During the COVID - 19 Breakout

As divorcees struggle to adapt to the coronavirus crisis, Vanella offers some tips to help them deal with the stress and get through the process:

Protect your Children during the Crisis: With schools closed and kids at home, many parents have a lot more time to spend with them. We will need to make some hard choices and explain to them why they need to follow social distancing guidelines for their protection, but this can also be turned into an opportunity for more family bonding.

Focus on Your Own Health: Try to find things to do at home that you enjoy and that help ease the stress. Go for a walk if you are able, or maybe just take some time for yourself to relax and meditate. Some of us have a lot more time on our hands, and this gives us an opportunity to get in some "alone" time as well.

Be Creative: Many courts are closed right now, and some people are under self-quarantine. But these disruptions might actually be an opportunity to explore a less stressful way to get divorced. For example, with mediation, you can settle your divorce mostly without the involvement of the court, and you can do so in a more cooperative setting that is geared toward reducing conflict and producing amicable resolutions.

Take Advantage of Technology: Being stuck at home, you will need to rely heavily on technology to help pass the time and to move forward with your divorce. This is where solutions like virtual mediation can be very helpful. With virtual mediation, sessions can be conducted remotely from anywhere in the world (as long as you have a phone or stable internet connection).

Stay Plugged In: Many people are having a hard time dealing with everything that is happening out there. Now, more than ever, we need to stay connected with those closest to us, even if we have to do so virtually. Also, if you are seeing a therapist or another professional, try to continue these sessions remotely as well.

"This situation is unprecedented, and it is disrupting everyone's lives. But we are all in this together, and if we take advantage of creative solutions and exercise patience and understanding during the process, we can and will get through this," adds Vanella.

DALLAS, Texas /ScoopCloud/ -- Susan G. Komen Dallas County (Komen Dallas County) today said it has received bequests from the Estate of Edith Beutell and the Estate of Dr. Glenn Dodwell, which combined total more than $199,000. The gifts will further the organization's ability to assess the state of breast health in Dallas County and create plans of action to reduce breast cancer mortality disparities in the community. In addition, the gifts allow Komen Dallas County to focus on its pillars of Research, Care, Community and Action.

"We are moved by the thoughtfulness of Mrs. Beutell and Dr. Dodwell to include Komen Dallas County in their planned estate giving and are honored to be part of their lasting legacies. This remarkable generosity allows us to hold our place as the local source for funding breast cancer detection, support and education for uninsured and underinsured women and men in Dallas County," said Sofia Olivarez, executive director of Susan G. Komen Dallas County.

The bequests ($189,893 from the Dodwell Estate and $10,000 the Beutell Estate) will help fund local breast health services and further groundbreaking research for the cures. According to her family, Mrs. Beutell was inspired by a niece's battle against breast cancer.

The gifts come as Komen Dallas County prepares to award grants for its FY2021 funding cycle. Health and community service organizations have submitted hundreds of grant requests to support programs for women and men across Dallas County using data from Komen Dallas County's recently-updated Community Profile Report as a guide.

"Komen Dallas County has identified areas within our community where gaps in access to care and health disparities persist. Planned gifts like those from Ms. Beutell and Dr. Dodwell allow us to provide vital resources to organizations that are on the frontlines working to provide education and life-saving services to those Dallas County residents who are most in need," said Daniel Jones, president of the Komen Dallas County Board of Directors.

Las Vegas Restaurant Franchise Focuses on Equal Opportunity and Provides Leadership Roles for Women!

LAS VEGAS, Nev. /ScoopCloud/ -- Ori'Zaba's, one of Las Vegas's most popular scratch Mexican food franchises, has become a leading voice - and employer - for women who seek leadership roles in the restaurant industry.

The nineteen-year-old Mexican food franchise was founded by longtime Las Vegas restaurateur Kori McClurg, a military veteran and corporate executive, who understands the value women managers, employees and leaders bring to a company.

After serving in the United States Air Force and working as a defense contractor, Kori developed strong analytic and leadership skills, which she most recently put to work managing private investments and as an owner of Ori'Zaba's Scratch Mexican Grill.

"As a woman, who has fought her way up in the military and also the corporate chain of command, I know the challenges women face in the workplace. That's why Ori'Zaba's stresses a culture that celebrates women leaders," McClurg said.

The company actively engages in a hiring and promotional process that increases the number of talented women in leadership roles. More than 80 percent of the of Ori'Zaba's Franchise General Managers are women. About 60 percent of the company's executive team are women.

"Women make up the majority of the population and it's about time companies and franchises reflect that reality and bring more women into all workplaces," McClurg said.

"We wanted to enhance our culture, improve training, and reduce turnover. The people we have in our GM positions have been able to achieve that. I believe that is a testament to skills that are not traditionally thought of as strong leadership characteristics. When we start thinking about what actually impacts our business and the bottom line versus what makes a 'strong' leader, these women have been able to make a difference," McClurg said.

In honor of International Women's Day 2020, which takes place March 8, and to truly understand the significance of Ori'Zaba's commitment, McClurg said it is important to highlight the history of the international women's rights movement.

The History of International Women's Day
Since the first gathering in 1911, International Women's Day (IWD) has been celebrated annually on March 8.

In that time, the women's rights movement has celebrated many victories, including but not limited to:

* In 1948, the United Nations adopted the first international document to assert "the dignity and worth of the human person and [the] equal rights of men and women."
* In 1979, the UN General Assembly adopted the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women.
* In 2017, the Women's March on Washington, DC, became the largest international mass demonstration in support of women's rights. Affiliated marches were held in Accra, Bangkok, Paris, Nairobi, Belgrade, Buenos Aires, Krakow, and even Antarctica.

Women in Leadership

By 2018, women made up nearly half (46.9%) of the whole US labor force, yet they only accounted for slightly over a third (40.0%) of managers.

Believe it or not, in 2019, there were still fewer women in leadership positions than there were men named John.

That figure seems astounding in light of research conducted by Harvard Business Review found that, "Women Score Higher Than Men in Most Leadership Skills."

"As a woman who has served in the military and in the corporate world, I do understand the challenges that women face in the workplace. My intention has been to create a place where people can be successful right along with the company. Because of my experience, I have the objectivity to see what's actually valuable versus the way things have always been done or who has always done them," McClurg said.

There is no doubt that the healthy growth of Ori'Zaba's franchise family, since its creation in 2001, is in great part due to these amazing energetic women leaders.

Ladies, on behalf of the whole Ori'Zaba's franchise family - thank you!

‘American Daughter’ Captivates Readers Revealing a Family’s Dark Secrets, Intergenerational Trauma, and a Daughter’s Quest for Redemption

SEATTLE, Wash. /ScoopCloud/ -- "AMERICAN DAUGHTER" (ISBN: 978-1632992529) tells an extraordinary story of trauma, healing and transcendence in this powerful memoir by Stephanie Thornton Plymale. As CEO and visionary of the Heritage School of Interior Design - the premier interior design school on the west coast - Stephanie Thornton Plymale kept her past a fiercely guarded secret. No one outside her immediate family would ever have guessed that her childhood was fraught with every imaginable hardship: a mentally ill mother who was in and out of jails and psych wards throughout Stephanie's formative years, neglect, hunger, poverty, homelessness, truancy, foster homes, a harrowing lack of medical care, and ongoing sexual abuse.

Stephanie, in turn, knew very little about the past of her mother, from whom she remained estranged during most of her adult life. All this changed with a phone call that set a journey of discovery in motion, leading to a series of shocking revelations that forced Stephanie to revise the meaning of almost every aspect of her very compromised childhood. American Daughter is at once the deeply moving memoir of a troubled mother-daughter relationship and a meditation on trauma, resilience, transcendence, and redemption. Stephanie's story is unique but its messages are universal, offering insight into what it means to survive, to rise above, to heal, and to forgive.

"I unveiled secrets that had been hidden for years and these discoveries rocked my world," says Plymale. "I was finally able to integrate my childhood story with the adult person that I am today. This process allowed me to forgive my mom when I never thought I could. I found the bravery to share my story with the hope of helping others who are struggling with trauma and broken relationships; to encourage them to share their story, cease living in secrecy, and to find healing. Everyone has a story to tell and peace to be had."

At age 4, Stephanie Thornton Plymale survived a full throttle, head-on collision in a mail truck stolen by her mother's boyfriend. Again, at age 5, sat in the back of a van going 70 miles per hour, Stephanie survived a drunken rollover crash. She was twice physically unscathed but left mute with trauma, a condition which would come and go for years. She later suffered life-threatening burns due to neglect and became blind in one eye. Homelessness evolved to isolation in the Dependent Unit of the State of California - to placement in several foster homes, one of which was horribly abusive. By age 10, Stephanie's experience was that of criminal neglect, chronic hunger, truancy, homelessness, and ongoing sexual violation. The terror and fear that she experienced as a child she later uncovers are the insidious ripple effects from an appalling crime that occurred in the summer of 1953 in Baltimore, Maryland, and made national news.

Stephanie's mother suffered from severe mental illness; schizophrenia and Dissociative Identity Disorder, was in and out of jail and a series of ghastly psych wards throughout her entire life. Meanwhile and despite all odds, Stephanie's lifelong desire for a sense of home led to her passion for interior design and burgeoning career in the industry. However, time seemed to stop when Stephanie received a call from her mother after a period of estrangement that was enforced by a court order. Her mother revealed her terminal illness and Stephanie became her mother's sole guardian.

Timing became critical for Stephanie to address her longing to seek the truth about her devastating childhood and lost heritage. She began a series of "interviews" with her mother in an attempt to find answers and to get her mother to take personal responsibility for the past. In one of these interviews, her mother reveals that she herself was the victim of that horrific crime in 1953 that plagued her as a child and for the rest of her life. This revelation incites the unlikely redemption and reconciliation between mother and daughter. Stephanie's mother also revealed a stunning and illustrious ancestry that she had kept hidden for decades. Stephanie grew up thinking of herself as "white trash" and knew nothing of the aristocratic family heritage from which she came.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Stephanie Thornton Plymale is the CEO of Heritage School of Interior Design. Stephanie calls Portland, Oregon, home - a word with much meaning as she grew up without one. From living in a car on the beach with her five siblings, to isolation in the Dependent Unit of the State of California, to a horribly abusive foster home, Stephanie never experienced a feeling of family as a child. Married at 19 to her high school sweetheart, her desire for family roots helped her to build a stable marriage and loving home for her three children.

From a young age, Stephanie had an insatiable desire to create a feeling of home. This incited her passion for interior design which led to her successful career working in nearly every facet of the industry, including residential, commercial, retail curation, fabrication and staging. After 18 years of owning her own firm, Stephanie felt ready to pursue her next chapter. It was then that she took over Heritage School of Interior Design. Stephanie's vision was to make education accessible to all who were interested in excelling in the industry. Stephanie has supported hundreds of students in achieving their dream careers. Many alumni have gone on to win prestigious awards and begin wildly successful businesses. Stephanie continues to balance family life with promoting Heritage, the success of its students, staff, continually growing community and philanthropic efforts.

Stephanie's traumatic childhood, family life and career is unique yet she takes heart in knowing that life's lessons are universal and that everyone has a story. Her goal is to inspire others to share their stories, receive support and feel empowered by their ability to survive, forgive, heal, transcend and live the life of their dreams.

Women and The Vote NYS Initiative Honors State Suffragists

ROCHESTER, N.Y. /ScoopCloud/ -- Women and the Vote NYS announces that a new initiative, timed to coincide with the 19th Amendment Centennial, is being launched to develop a mobile-friendly online database with interactive map of gravesites across New York State of the suffragists who worked tirelessly to bring about women's right to vote.

The goal is to catalogue both well-known suffragists, regardless of gender, as well as individuals whose contributions may be all but lost to history. Additionally, the site will provide links to voter registration.

A second focus of the project will take place on Election Day 2020, when filmmakers from across the state will be stationed at suffragists' gravesites to interview visitors coming with their "I Voted' stickers. Those interviews will be assembled and edited into a documentary film, ELECTION DAY 2020 NYS.

Residents across New York State who know of, or are related to, an individual who took an active role in the Suffragist movement are invited to help identify their gravesite by visiting the website http://www.womenandthevotenys.com/ and adding information, including:
* Name of the suffragist
* Name and location of the cemetery where the suffragist is buried
* Names of any living relatives
* Suffragist activities in which the individual was involved
* Photo of the gravesite or other historic photos

In addition to adding suffragist listings to the website, residents are invited to join the "Suffragist Search Parties," in which groups of volunteers will populate the website catalogue by entering information on suffragists.

Rochester-based party dates include:
* Saturday, February 22 from 10 am to 1 pm at the National Susan B. Anthony Museum and House Carriage House, 17 Madison St, Rochester, NY
* Saturday, March 14 from 10 am to 1 pm at the 1872 Café, 431 W Main St, Rochester, NY
* Friday, March 27 from 9 am to 12 noon at the Department of Rare Books, Special Collections, and Preservation, River Campus Libraries. University of Rochester
* Saturday, April 4 from 10 am to 1 pm at the 1872 Café
* Friday April 24 from 9 am to 12 noon at the Department of Rare Books, Special Collections, and Preservation

Because of space limitations, residents interested in volunteering to participate in these events through researching, fact checking, and entering confirmed suffragist submissions must register in advance, by sending an email noting date(s) available to info@womenandthevotenys.com. Volunteers will need to supply their own computers for data entry

This project is the brainchild of Emmy award-winning documentary filmmaker, programmer, and educator Linda Moroney, owner of Low to the Ground Productions. Linda will produce and direct the documentary ELECTION DAY 2020 NYS. Collaborating on this project will be award-winning storyteller Lorraine Woerner-MacGowan, owner of Four Cats Creative and Laura Chekow, film educator, aficionado, and community project coordinator.

In sharing the mission of this project, Linda Moroney explained, "After making ELECTION DAY 2016, it was clear there was a much bigger story to tell from New York State's vast involvement in the suffragist movement. Our goal is to connect the dots from that history to the present day and to shine a light on New York State's rich suffragist legacy, as inclusively as possible."

This program is being funded in part by Humanities New York with support from the National Endowment for the Humanities. The National Susan B. Anthony House & Museum serves as the fiscal sponsor for this project.

Nurse Innovator Impacts Moms’ and Babies’ Health in ‘Year of the Nurse and Midwife’

LOS ANGELES, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- BabyLiveAdvice, Inc., a Los Angeles-based, woman-owned social enterprise, supports pregnant moms and parents from preconception through early childhood via telehealth, phone and chat. The company's mission is to help one million moms and their babies to be happy and healthy.

The World Health Organization (WHO) designated 2020 - "The Year of the Nurse and Midwife" - bringing women's issues front and center. BabyLiveAdvice is taking heed.

"The U.S. has the highest rate of maternal deaths in the developed world," Sigi Marmorstein, founder and CEO, BabyLiveAdvice, says. "Giving birth in America has become increasingly dangerous, sometimes deadly, especially for mothers who lack access to care."

In fact, the 2019 March of Dimes Report Card revealed that, for the fourth year in a row, more babies in the U.S. (approximately one out of 10) were born too soon, with the rate of pre-term births increasing steadily every year. (*Note 1.)

"We have 135 moms a week who die or are injured during childbirth or within weeks of giving birth," Marmorstein says. "There are two babies who die every hour. It's not talked about and prevention is lacking."

The American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists projects that there will be a shortage of nearly 9,000 obstetricians and gynecologists by 2020, which will grow to a shortage of approximately 22,000 by 2050. This shortage is creating "maternal deserts," where 5 million women have no access to obstetricians.

"Some women have to travel five to six hours for care or even go out of state," Marmorstein says.

Marmorstein, a nurse innovator and telehealth expert with 22 years of clinical experience, believes she has a technological solution to help with this crisis. In 2018, she self-funded BabyLiveAdvice, with support of colleagues such as Milton Chen, CEO of Vsee, the HIPAA-secure platform used by BabyLiveAdvice, who support her vision.

Prior to the company's launch, extensive research and pilots showed that pregnant women and new parents are under-informed or misinformed about their pregnancy, childbirth options, breastfeeding and infant care. They lack education and have unequal healthcare access. Additionally, shorter appointment times, transportation barriers and early discharge from the hospital just serve to widen the care gap.

The pilot study went on to demonstrate that when moms are supported, educated, monitored, empowered and coached throughout their pregnancies and postpartum period they have better birth outcomes and fewer complications than moms who did not receive such help.

"We're a group of nurses and midwives who are mothers. We're from diverse cultural and clinical backgrounds and work from home caring for our children while using our skills to support and help others," Elaine Kopinga, lead nurse midwife at BabyLiveAdvice, says.

BabyLiveAdvice gives mothers/parents virtual access to advice and support from the comfort of their home. They can ask questions and get answers right away.

"From pre-conception through the baby's age of four, women have access to a personal team of professionals and it doesn't cost thousands of dollars," Lovell Valencia, clinician at BabyLiveAdvice, says.

BabyLiveAdvice fills a critical gap in the current health system. It's a budget-friendly solution and insurance companies, employers, hospitals, physicians and non-profit organizations are already collaborating because it's easy to implement. Advice staff helps physicians to manage large panels of patients, while effectively reducing physician burnout, improving care access and reducing overall costs.

"We have our eyes and ears on moms and babies and are more effective than a traditional nurse call line in reducing ER visits and calls to physicians. We improve timely escalation and emergent conditions, and reduce the overall risk of care," Marmorstein says.

While maternal deaths are not a subject many like to talk about, BabyLiveAdvice believes 2020 is the year to begin the conversation, promote awareness and produce real results that lead to positive change. They've already made a difference, but there's more to be done.

This Valentine’s, Experience Paris in a ‘Novel’ Way

RALEIGH, N.C. /ScoopCloud/ -- With Valentine's Day around the corner, how does a romantic trip to Paris with your lover sound? If the bank account isn't quite up to that dream getaway, YourNovel.com offers an armchair escape to the City of Love, where you and your sweetheart become the hero and heroine of your own personalized romance novel.

Lover's Paradise: Paris features three short stories, all set in the City of Lights, so any starring couple can enjoy three distinctly different Parisian experiences:

* New to YourNovel.com, author Spontak delivers a sizzling, surreal trip full of daring escapades throughout the city in "Paris Made Me Do It."

* "Destiny in Paris," by fiction writing veteran Marcy Thomas, centers on a plan of passion to ignite the starring couple's desires, letting them fall deeper in love with each other as well as with the city.

* Lori Pepio, grand prize winner in a previous romance-writing contest for YourNovel.com, penned "Beyond the City of Lights," which incorporates a masquerade ball and mysterious stranger to explore where love and fantasy meet.

YourNovel.com founders J.S. Fletcher and Kathy M. Newbern, who write as Fletcher Newbern, note that part of the fun of their nearly three decades in business has been helping aspiring writers achieve their goal of publication.

This is Spontak's first foray into the romance novel genre. "Working with her has been a dream," said Newbern. "Not only does she write fiction and screenplays, she has her own production company, Spontak Entertainment."

From Raleigh, N.C., originally, Spontak's impressive background includes visiting nearly 30 countries and living in 11 of them, including France. Upon graduating from the University of San Diego, she taught English for two years in South Korea. The opportunity for graduate school at the University of Kent in England lured Spontak away; there she earned an MFA in Creative Writing. She currently teaches English online for DaDaABC for all ages as she continues to travel. Her next adventure is in the Philippines - teaching screenwriting at both Siliman University and Foundation University. Her long-term goal is to become an iconic filmmaker and take a place in history next to Spielberg and Scorsese. And yes, she is a (hopeful) romantic.

The Paris book is one of more than 50 romantic adventure novels personalizable from YourNovel.com, in settings like in Rome, Tahiti, England, the Caribbean and even the Wild West. There are also tales that involve vampires, time travel, cruising and more. Ordering is a quick online process: pick a story, answer a questionnaire online, and receive a paperback, hardback or ebook starring any couple.

Among the couple's 26 details supplied in the questionnaire are not only their names, but:
* Hometown,
* Places of work,
* Eye and hair color,
* Best friends' names,
* Favorite perfume and after shave,
* Favorite music and color,
* Affectionate nicknames for one another,
* How long they've been a couple and much more.

These customized capers are offered in both huggy-kissy "mild" or steamy "wild" with the option to add a memorable photo of the couple on the book's cover or to make it the entire cover.

"Over the years," says Fletcher, "our books have been called the 'Ultimate Vanity Valentine,' and we've been called 'Computerized Cupids.' We love that job title."

Details: In the U.S., printed hardback or paperback books usually arrive within a week; ebooks within 24 hours. Call (800) 444-3356 or visit www.YourNovel.com for more information. The company created the genre of personalized romance novels in 1992.

The Nation’s Largest Track Series For Girls Produces World-Class Athletes and Exceptional Young Women

BROOKLYN, N.Y. /ScoopCloud/ -- Dec. 14-16, 2019 -- This weekend's opening preliminary meet of the Colgate Women's Games was the first event since the passing of its founder, Fred Thompson. Thompson's contribution to the sport extended well beyond mentoring and coaching dozens of Olympians and world-class athletes; his self-proclaimed greatest accomplishment was the creation of what has become both an incubator for young athletic talent, and a venue that provides girls and young women a means to develop self-esteem and a sense of personal achievement. Thompson was inducted into the US Track and Field Hall of Fame on December 7, 2019.

Sandra Parick-Farmer one of countless women who trace their success in school, athletics, or their personal or professional lives back to Brooklyn at the Colgate Women's Games was also inducted to the Hall of Fame.

The Games have produced an astounding 26 Olympians, hundreds of national champions, and just this October, a number of women who competed in the Games throughout grade-school won gold medals at the 2019 IAAF World Track and Field Championships in Doha, Qatar.

The distance so many are willing to travel, and the incredible commitment of so many families, friends and coaches who encourage and support their girls and young women, are a testimony to the importance of his legacy."

Rayah, The Royal Poodle Promotes Gender Equality and Healthy Learning and Working Relationships

ATLANTA, Ga. /ScoopCloud/ -- Dr. Vickie Cox Edmondson, an academic and management strategist, today announced that she has entered into a partnership with actress, Adrienne Unae to introduce Rayah, The Royal Poodle, LLC. to enhance the career opportunities and influence of girls and women of color. Holding to the belief that making sound judgments early on is fundamental to success, the partners plan to infuse art, wonder, into values-based leadership learning and development activities to drive successful personal and organizational outcomes.

Their first objective is to introduce Rayah (Ra-yah), a live character poodle, whose "go high and if I can do it you can too" persona makes her the perfect role model for promoting gender equality, and healthy learning and working relationships - two issues that influence the well-being and success of girls of all ages. November is a month in which many of us give thanks and shift our focus from ourselves to others. It's a great time to bring women of all demographics together to look at problems facing Black and Brown girls in our community and say how can we work together to fix that? Plans are to partner with organizations that struggle to attract and retain members of underrepresented groups, and with social and service organizations that seek to enhance the lives of women.

"Before women of color can get to the head of the decision-making table, an intentional effort must be made to champion them early on and spark their interest in pursuing careers in attractive top-paying fields where diversity in key decision-making roles is historically lacking. Adrienne Unae's acting skills can be that spark," said Cox Edmondson.

Adrienne Unae replied, "I am very excited to team up with Dr. Vickie Cox Edmondson to awe-inspire girls to be the best they can be as part of Rayah's Royal Kingdom. It is an amazing opportunity for the girls, their moms and supporters, and me."

Fans or Royalists of any age or demographic can join Rayah's Royal Registry by visiting http://www.royalrayah.com/contact-us.

About Rayah, The Royal Poodle, LLC.:

Dating App for Dog Lovers Launches for iOS

SEATTLE, Wash. /ScoopCloud/ -- New dating app Wowzer is officially available for download nationally, with user-growth marketing focused on the company's home city of Seattle. The app that helps dog-loving humans make more meaningful connections will launch in Seattle this fall before bringing the Wowzer community experience to cities nationwide later in 2020.

Dogs are great companions and, now, they can be your "wingpup." After all, who doesn't need a little bark in their dating journey? Wowzer is throwing single dog lovers a bone. Officially debuting on the iOS App Store on Oct. 23, now-available Wowzer (gowowzer.com) is the dating app for dog lovers.

When looking for connections on Wowzer, you control what profile information and preferences you share. Dog owners can put their best pup forward in a companion dog profile. Wowzer does the rest to connect you with potential matches.

The app will be free during launch, with a suite of premium membership services that will be released at a later date. All dog lovers are welcome whether they own a dog or not.

Wowzer is the brainchild of co-founders Michi Suzuki, a lifestyle public relations and events professional, and Stephanie Worley, a veteran marketer in the tech industry. The longtime friends and dog lovers believe canine intervention is just the tonic for all the anxiety that modern dating can cause. Having a dog by your side helps create a more authentic, relaxing and fun dating experience.

"We're passionate about dogs, and we're suckers for love," said Worley, who, with Suzuki, had originally planned to open a daycare for dogs. Over time, as they helped mutual friends navigate the online dating world, they recognized an opportunity.

"This business was born out of a desire to help our single dog-loving friends meet people who share their interests and values," Suzuki said. "The fact that it can help a lot more people is really heartening for us."

About Wowzer:

Wowzer is the dating app for dog lovers. Founded in Seattle, Wowzer provides a better way for dog lovers to make more meaningful connections. With Wowzer, dogs are our co-pilot. Malicious Mediation and Manipulation: When Mediators and Lawyers Hide Abusive Tactics Behind Confidentiality

HOUSTON, Texas /ScoopCloud/ -- Wendy Meigs, Texas Pharmacist and Founder of SMA Education and Support, warns the public about the current evolution of mediation into a malicious "kangaroo court" to promote predetermined self-serving outcomes for mediators and lawyers as mediation confidentiality enhances the abuse of the already vulnerable.

As mediation numbers continue to escalate, judges push citizens to negotiate outside of court especially with limited resources as seen in Harris County. But is mediation the same as court? Some strive to promote that fallacy.

Victims of divorce court tell a different story. 70-year-old Gladys A. never wanted to experience what she did at mediation. Gladys said, "My lawyer didn't prepare me..." Missing information and extreme pressuring forced Gladys to settle for far less. As the main earner and spouse after 50 years of marriage to an adulterous husband, Gladys felt betrayed from the abuse at home, an abuse sustained through mediation. Was allowing the manipulation of an abused woman justified? Who really is to blame for the deceptions at mediation to this woman, a trusting, misinformed, and abused woman? And is this the justice the public believes exists in mediation versus the courtroom?

By definition: "Mediation is a private process in which an impartial person encourages and facilitates communications between parties to a conflict and strives to promote reconciliation, settlement, or understanding." This private process called "confidentiality" contributes to abuses and manipulation of unaware citizens contrary to a courtroom where the exposure of standards of conduct and ethics limit outright abuses.

Take a stand for victims and against the protection of mediators. Take a stand for the people. Refuse confidentiality in mediations.

For full press release see: https://www.SMANow.org/press-release-2

About SMA Education and Support:

Wendy Meigs founded SMA Education and Support in immediate response to an abusive mediation. Having experienced normal mediations, Meigs realized the vulnerability of the already vulnerable under the guise of impartiality and the abusive potential of blanket confidentiality. SMA Education and Support (Stop Mediation Abuse), a For-Profit organization, assists and educates on the potential abuses of mediation. We are NOT lawyers. We are everyday people. Together, we can Protect the Public.

Abbey Jayne has always been a bit of a nerd. She prefers books and computers over people. Especially boys. She hasn't worried much about dating and is content taking a backseat to her sister Cassie, the social butterfly. Abbey's headed to college in the fall anyway.

Everything changes after she reluctantly agrees to join Cassie and her boyfriend for dinner. Hunky pitcher for the Chicago Cobras, Luke Stryker is also coming along. He seems larger than life and Abbey's surprised by her attraction to him.

At twenty, Luke Stryker is already one of the best pitchers in the majors and the sole heir to his family's fortune. His world turns upside down when he meets Abbey. Right away, he senses she's special. That she's meant to be his.

With their relationship growing quickly, Luke asks Abbey to join him on the road for the adventure of a lifetime before her classes start in the fall, but she's torn about what she should do. Her mother is upset and Luke's agent thinks she's in the way. Abbey believes she and Luke have a future together, but it won't be easy.

Can young love survive the stresses of family, college, life on the road, and everything that goes along with being a professional athlete?

"I'm thrilled to share Luke and Abbey's origin story with my readers," Voss states. "I felt it was the right time at this point in my Windy City Nights series to reveal how they met and fell in love, before everything fell apart and they reunite ten years later in my novel On the Ropes."

After a very successful event at the Fred Segal Malibu location with a majority of our inventory sold, we are even more excited for the Fred Segal Sunset event, November 16, 2019. When Jordan Willner and her girlfriends realized they each had a story to tell and Fred Segal discovered their movement they decided to get on board and support "MINE, NOT YOURS."

This is an organization run by women that has a mission to champion and rally behind all generations of women who have decided that #timesup. They want to spread the message that what is mine is not yours without permission.

Long Island Entrepreneur Leads the Flareology Movement

LONG ISLAND, N.Y. /ScoopCloud/ -- Obsessed with sparking change from within, Lesley Nurse found a way to do that and now wants to share her methods with others. She's developed a concept that she's calling "Flareology" and it's designed to help people, primarily women, to claim their power or get it back and make positive changes in their lives.

"Someone once asked me, 'Do you know your power?' I had no idea what he was talking about," Nurse says. "I started thinking about failed and toxic relationships and the absence of a father figure in my life. I was acting out, but not in a way that helped me. In fact, my actions were hurting me. I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. It was time for me to claim my power and now that I've found it, I want to inspire other women to do the same. Flareology is all about self-care and healing."

As a young child and adult, Nurse experienced numerous traumatic events that led her to where she is today.

"I had to figure out a way to deal with the pain and to start trusting people," she says. "I had walls up and aggression was a form of protection. I started reading and watching spiritual programs and took pieces of what worked and left other pieces behind. I've put the pieces together and learned how to heal."

The end result is a new online mini-course that coaches and mentors women on how they, too, can leave the past behind while moving towards a better and more empowered future.

The course, "What Is Self-Care? 10 Key Tips to Go from Toxic to Triumphant Living" is especially designed for passionate, driven women who have experienced physical and emotional abuse and are trying to find their way back from the dark.

"It's never too late to heal," Nurse says. "Don't apologize for the past, but don't fall victim to it either. People are often surprised to learn about my past. I walk around with scars, but no one can see them."

Nurse acts as a guide of sorts in this 60-minute online course where she outlines the 10 tips, elaborates on them and then provides multiple suggestions for consideration. The course helps women to ease into self-care with the ultimate goal of achieving peace and balance. It's a confidential environment where women can be in a safe space while healing from bondage. It's an ideal starting point for people who have tried failed options such as therapy. The end of the course provides a gift affirmation that people can carry with them.

"We all have power. I know better now and understand that I have a responsibility to always remember that," Nurse says.

The term "Flareology," sparking change within, came to Nurse after several hours of contemplation and a few double doses of espresso. She examined intentional words and meanings and sought to create a catchy phrase that would make women feel part of a movement. Boom. Flareology - which also gives a shout out to her job as a cocktail server; she loves the word "mixology."

About Lesley Nurse, founder Flareology(TM):

Nurse grew up in East Flatbush, Brooklyn. Her family is from Trinidad and Tobago. In addition to leading the Flareology movement, she's also the author of two children's books, "How Sunny Sees It;" and "The Tale of Greedy Reeby." She's a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York City and has an evolving fashion line called 7Seven Spark. She says everything she does is to "spark change." She's a self-proclaimed "flareologist" and wants to show others how to earn and own that name too.

Single Mom Heals Grief and Conquers Homelessness through Entrepreneurship

AUSTIN, Texas /ScoopCloud/ -- Pamela Barnett has not had it easy. While she describes her childhood as happy, her family was poor and there were periods of homelessness. Later on in life, she pre-maturely gave birth to twins, Parker and Abigail, who did not survive. However, it was these life events, and others, that served to provide strength rather than defeat.

Today, she is the mother of two and a successful entrepreneur who is the author of several children's books, the founder of a tumbling gym, a Christian teacher and minister and, most recently, an app developer. Her latest app - tryitfreeapp.com - is set to launch on November 1.

"After the death of my twins, I left a bad marriage with my daughter and started over," she says. "At the time, I only had a high school education and no real way to provide for my daughter. For me, entrepreneurship was the answer."

TryitFreeapp.com will roll out in Texas, but Barnett has plans to take it nationwide. Like the name says, it's free and leads users to businesses that have free offers that include anything from a free facial or banana pudding to a martial arts class or pre-k reading class.

"It's a great way for businesses to connect with consumers," Barnett says. "And, it's also a great way for consumers to try before they buy."

There are many small businesses that don't have a big marketing budget and this app will offer visibility to tens of thousands of users at a glance. Barnett says the goal is to get 100,000 users on board in Austin and surrounding areas.

Business owners can apply to be included in this initial launch for free and links can be found for pre-orders for androids and iPhones here: http://www.tryitfreeapp.com/.

This app is affordable, targeted and highly effective marketing right in the hand of the consumer. Driving new customers is as easy as a few swipes on a phone.

About Pamela Barnett:

Barnett has two children - a 17-year old daughter, Katelynn, who attends the University of Mary Hardin Baylor and is on the acrobatics team; and her son, Jaxen, who is thriving in one of her private schools advancing three grade levels above his age in math. This is her second app - the first is an effective learning to read app - LearningtoReadwithAbbyGrace. Average just isn't in her vocabulary. She teaches her children and students, "Learn to multiply what you've been given."

The Embassy of Haiti Hosts Bernadette Jeudy for Debut Memoir ‘Tested Innocence’

BALTIMORE, Md. /ScoopCloud/ -- On Saturday, November 9, 2019, the Embassy of Haiti in Washington, D.C. will host the book launch for Maryland corporate finance businesswoman, Bernadette Jeudy, as she reads from and sales copies of her debut memoir, "Tested Innocence" (ISBN: 978-0578572123).

Her book features the compelling reality of a life-changing event that led her to becoming a health coach. It's guaranteed to resonate with readers, especially successful women who often find themselves struggling to manage the stresses of life - work, relationships and learning how to live in the moment.

The event begins at 4 p.m. The Embassy of Haiti is located at 2311 Massachusetts Avenue, NW.

"Tested Innocence" navigates the story of an impressionable young Haitian immigrant who struggles with her new life in America following the death of her Nana. She and her three siblings must learn to adapt to a new life with their mother, a woman who steps into that role amid her own struggles.

From the near-miss tragedy aboard a ferry to meeting her father for the first time, Jeudy vividly and beautifully guides us through the moments where her innocence is tested, where she questions her Creole-Haitian identity as a teenager in a mostly white American high school, to her young adult years of looking for love in unfulfilled relationships.

Jeudy is transparent in sharing the many trials and adversities that she overcame toward being the woman that she is today - confident and full of life as she enjoys each moment. The memoir is a reminder to live in the moment and hold on to the memories that shape us for who we are today.

The story opens with Jeudy as a five-year-old girl in her native Gommier, Haiti juggling youthful innocence amid handfuls of mangoes, avocados and family rituals.

The book is already receiving advance praise. "When I read the first few pages of the 'Tested Innocence' draft, I was instantly captivated by the words of the author, Bernadette Jeudy. She brought childhood memories to life with her description of how she interacted with her siblings. From their innocent acts of hiding in the bushes to observe the adults' voodoo rituals as they dedicated their meals to their gods (or so they thought), to Bernadette and her siblings collecting the food and eating it, to her love journey and soul searching in college, this book is a must read," says Darnie Tranquille, a professional business woman.

About the Author:

Bernadette Jeudy has worked in the corporate finance field for more than 15 years and is currently an operations director for a Fortune 500 company. She is also a health coach who founded CureMind Wellness & Nutrition in 2017 to assist busy professional women with stress management, weight loss and developing healthy eating habits. Jeudy migrated to the U.S. 25 years ago and attended high school, undergraduate and graduate school in New York. She currently resides in Baltimore with her family.

Attendees who purchase a copy of "Tested Innocence" can expect to hear Jeudy read excerpts from her memoir.
