Ombudsman Services of Contra Costa, Solano and Alameda Launches the Elder Justice Lunch and Learn Series

PLEASANT HILL, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- Since the coronavirus pandemic began, it has changed the world, our community, and the elder care industry as we know it. Given the immense impact on seniors and older disabled adults, it is more important than ever to support our elder community care systems that protect the quality of life and advance the aging journey in this new era of care. Taking the lead in addressing these issues is Ombudsman Services of Contra Costa, Solano and Alameda with the launch of their 12-month Elder Justice Lunch and Learn Series.

"This is the fifth year that we are hosting our annual elder justice event, but it's not our traditional in-person forum," says Nicole Howell, executive director of Ombudsman Services of Contra Costa, Solano and Alameda. "We rapidly pivoted and transitioned to a yearlong monthly webinar series that brings our industry together with leaders at the forefront of addressing the evolution of elder abuse and COVID-19."

According to the Administration for Community Living (ACL), it is "estimated that 5 million older adults are abused, neglected, or exploited" every year. In addition, these aging adults lose more than $2.6 billion due to elder financial abuse, which is critical to their lifestyle and basic needs. The ACL also reports that only one in five elder abuse crimes are discovered.

"Our world is like a snow globe, right? We've gotten super shaken up, and now a critical issue is even more magnified," Howell continues. "Elder abuse doesn't discriminate. It happens to anyone and everyone. With seniors in isolation, we're doing everything in our power to ensure their overall safety, health, and wellness, but it's not enough. We need big systemic changes, and that's our goal with bringing everyone together for this event."

This program is set to launch on Thursday, June 18, 2020, with the first webinar taking place from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM. This series of monthly webinars will continue to take place on the third Thursday of every month until May 20, 2021.

The first event on June 18 features elder abuse investigation and prosecution expert Paul Greenwood with a keynote on the "Collaboration and the Future of Elder Justice." As a newly retired district attorney who headed up the Elder Abuse Prosecution Unit at the San Diego DA's Office for over twenty years, Paul is known worldwide for his consultancy on elder abuse cases as well as law enforcement and agency training.

Other topics in this series include:
* Preventing Eviction in the Age of COVID-19
* National Trends in Adult Protective Services Amid COVID-19
* Professional Strategies - Taking Care of Ourselves So We Can Take Care of Others
* Actionable Engagement Tactics to Prevent Isolation + Advances in Technology
* Rights Afforded to Victims and Their Families
* The Art and Science of Working with "Non-Verbal" Clients

Poetry Reawakens Soul, Something Desperately Needed in Our Uncertain Times

LAKESIDE, Mont. /ScoopCloud/ -- Eight One 818 Publishing announces a new book release, "Reimagining In 2020: Poems: First Reflections" (ISBN: 978-1733941235) by Laura Keller-Wolff. Response to a world pandemic comes in many forms. Sheltering in place, one poet finds deeper vision facing the urgencies of radical change.

"Reimagining In 2020" is author Laura Keller-Wolff's second book in a series on the theme of reimagining, here she challenges readers to reach for the poetics of heart and soul in times of extreme instability. These times push us to the edge of every sense perception, where steps toward a new world are inches away. Yet, we need to create a bridge from volatility to the new sources of depth, symbolism and non-literal footholds to carry our world beyond. That bridge is poetry: A sister to art, a brother to peaceful co-existence. We find a deeper, broader lens through poetry, the opportunity to reimagine with 2020 vision.

"The place for the poetic arts is now-more than ever before," Keller-Wolff says. "Poetry provides a timeless connection to our humanness, as reflected in lines from The Doorman - a poem honoring one of New York City's first COVID-19 victims: "Some people ripen this way, / so full of the earth and the life / that make all of us real, / with work that does like the seed, / carrying the sweetness of character - / hands waiting even before you arrive."

Poetry meets landscape where Keller-Wolff makes her home, in the Rocky Mountains of Montana. She is the founder and director of Spiralation, Inc., managing The Mural-Poetry Project-which united youth and elders, generating 14 murals featuring local history, art and poetry, and the Dream-Well Project-generating poetry and art from dream analysis.

SimpleNexus Platform Enhancement Enables Lenders and Borrowers to Manage Multiple Borrower Loans Through SimpleNexus’ User-Friendly Interface

LEHI, Utah /ScoopCloud/ -- SimpleNexus (https://simplenexus.com/), developer of the leading digital mortgage platform for loan officers, borrowers and real estate agents, today announced a platform enhancement that merges management of multiple loans with the same applicant into one user-friendly interface. The new "multi-loan" functionality improves the loan experience for loan originators (LOs) and borrowers, enabling both parties to start, submit and access multiple loan applications via web browser or mobile app experience.

SimpleNexus' multi-loan feature makes it easy for borrowers to navigate between multiple loans and applications, sign individual loan eConsent and disclosures forms, upload documents and complete tasks associated with each loan file. To further streamline the borrower experience, LOs can customize the borrower task list and requested documents for each loan; request eConsent, asset verification or credit authorization on a per-loan basis; and move or copy documents between different loans for the borrower.

Multi-loan streamlines loan management for LOs by automatically linking all loan applications associated with the same borrower. LOs will not need to remove old loans from the system, and additional user accounts and email addresses will not be required to manage multiple loan applications.

"SimpleNexus' multi-loan enhancement makes it easy to maneuver between and complete tasks associated with multiple borrower loans," said SimpleNexus VP of Product Shane Westra. "Whether a borrower is simultaneously purchasing multiple properties or a repeat customer is returning for a new purchase or a refi, multi-loan provides borrowers with the modern, intuitive experience they expect from the organizations that finance their homes."

More than fifty percent of SimpleNexus customers have opted-in for early access to multi-loan. An August 3, 2020, system update will turn on multi-loan for all SimpleNexus customers. Customers who wish to use the multi-loan feature sooner can contact their customer success manager.

Part 1 of 4: COVID-19 and the Future of Historically Black Colleges and Universities

GREENSBORO, N.C. /ScoopCloud/ -- For over 15 years, Bridget Chisholm and her team at North Carolina-based black-owned economic development firm, Building Wealth & Communities (BWC) Consulting, LLC has had first-hand experience with providing high-level financial solutions to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

As seasoned professionals, the firm has helped to build financial strategies to ensure infrastructure improvements on black college campuses and access to capital for major projects in underserved communities to the tune of over $153 million in transactions for HBCUs alone. But now, as the coronavirus crisis and stay-at-home orders have inflicted financial damage on institutions of higher learning like existing debt obligations amid declining revenues, HBCUs are left to tackle long-term economic issues that threaten indefinite school closures and ultimately the elimination of as many as half of existing HBCUs.

The state and fate of these institutions certainly warrants attention, and the question is not whether we should support HBCUs, but how best to support them during this time of economic crisis.

In this four-part series, BWC Consulting will lay out the HBCU value proposition and highlight key opportunities for building a 21st century educational playbook for higher educational institutions that ensures proactive measures are in place to create more agile and resilient learning environments. These solutions will help HBCUs meet the needs of the changing educational landscape by reimagining the unique experience provided at HBCUs and remodeling business strategies, endowment programs and virtual learning opportunities that enhance the overall campus appeal and learning experience.

By exploring non-traditional approaches to capital campaigns and endowment growth, such as an increased focus on securing engagement and support from the largely white-led philanthropy sector, and restructuring the federally-funded HBCU Capital Financing Program, BWC hopes to empower college and university administrators and policymakers to correct historical economic and social injustices that persist in our nation to ensure equity in education and non-discriminatory access to opportunity.

"HBCUs provide immense value-add to society and contribute more to the overall [black] community than most colleges and universities because they offer an opportunity for students to learn in a culturally-enriched environment and in today's world, provide a safe and nurturing space," said Bridget Chisholm, the firm's founder and managing partner.

She adds, "We know how difficult it is for HBCUs to compete with historically white institutions on a level playing field in terms of availability and access to funding and fundamental educational resources like technology. The COVID-19 pandemic presents HBCUs with an opportunity and the motivation to revamp, and where it makes sense, replace antiquated business models with new business strategies designed to meet the needs of students better in an emerging 21st century higher education system. HBCUs have worked tirelessly for over a hundred years to produce black professionals in every field and we anticipate seeing them overcome the current challenges they face."

Unlike predominantly white institutions (PWIs), HBCUs have historically struggled to address issues that have plagued these institutions of higher learning for decades. Disparities that exist between HBCUs and PWIs include inadequate state and federal funding, smaller endowments, access to financial capital and resources that best serve their unique circumstances - not just funding for major campus infrastructure improvements - and a lack of resources to support students from underserved communities.

The COVID-19 pandemic has shined a high beam in the face of academic inequality, the lack of economic resiliency for communities of color and ineffective crisis management and contingency planning for the education system. Despite these discrepancies, HBCUs continue their mission to promote black excellence and nurture the growth, vitality, and upliftment of the black community. For many local municipalities across the country, HBCUs are a major economic engine for the surrounding community; thus, the impact of the coronavirus will have a lingering effect for many years ahead.

New Book – Beating the Enemy: How Vitamin D Could Help Fight COVID-19

NEW YORK, N.Y. /ScoopCloud/ -- New cutting-edge self-help book, "How Vitamin D Could Help Fight COVID-19" (ISBN: 978-1716882661) just released by Shirley Amy BSC, offers readers a clear understanding of why getting enough vitamin D is so crucial during this pandemic.

Shirley highlights the recent research that shows that individuals with severe vitamin D deficiency, are twice as inclined to suffer major COVID-19 complications; and that vitamin D not only strengthens our immunity, it can protect us against acute respiratory infections.

In her book, which is geared to address the vitamin D deficiency in the US, Europe, and other parts of the world, Amy highlights recent research which indicates that vitamin D not only boosts our innate immune system (the first part of our body to detect invaders such as viruses, parasites, bacteria and toxins), but also prevents our immune system from becoming dangerously hyperactive (going haywire and creating a cytokine storm).

Amy notes that: "This means that, as some researchers state, if we have healthy vitamin D levels, we may be protected from having serious complications, or dying from COVID-19. Just upping our D to the recommended level, is very easy for everyone who has a deficiency, and it doesn't cost a dime to get some sun every day, as wearing a sunblock, which is recommended, still lets a small amount of UVB rays in."

She adds, "Moreover, we can put some vitamin D foods (including vitamin D enriched foods) in our cart; and if necessary, take a supplement (subject to any contra-indications to medication, and certain diseases, etc.), and having a doctor's approval. And very importantly, we should ensure that we do not take more than the recommended daily allowance."

"An estimated 1 billion people worldwide, across all ethnicities and age groups, have a vitamin D deficiency" [1] NIH - https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK532266/.

Based on the latest science from top US institutions, including Harvard Medical School, Harvard Nutrition Source, and Yale Medicine, this short, easy-to-understand, 5 chapter book, is geared to show readers how they and their families and loved ones, can up their Vitamin D intake to the recommended level, via the sun, food, and/or a supplement.

About the Author

Shirley Amy BSC is a well-known English Holistic Health Guru & the author of four other books. These include the highly successful method: "The Winning Way to Quit Smoking," which includes de-stressing holistic supports such as aromatherapy and American-made Quit Tea, which help people resist the urge to light up. Shirley has been instrumental in helping people quit smoking during the pandemic, as robust evidence, such as that published in the journal, Lancet Respiratory Medicine (May 2020), implies that several mechanisms could raise the chance of smokers contracting respiratory tract infections.

Los Angeles based civil rights advocacy institution, Brotherhood Crusade President and CEO weighs in on nationwide protests, calls for everyone to join the fight for change

LOS ANGELES, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- The Brotherhood Crusade, a Los Angeles based, 52 year old civil rights institution, announced a statement today by President and CEO, Charisse Bremond Weaver, who weighed in on the recent protests in Los Angeles and across the country regarding police brutality and people of color.

Bremond Weaver stated, "Institutionalized racism, unfortunately, is our American story. We need everyone in this fight for change. As we continue this journey together, it is critical that we tell a story that African Americans are having a crisis of humanity at every level. It will not be enough to just protest for the thousands of African Americans who have been murdered by law enforcement in Los Angeles and across the United States."

Brotherhood Crusade, a grassroots organization, provides programs and services to answer the unmet needs of low-income, underserved, under-represented and disenfranchised individuals. The institution's mission is to help individuals overcome the barriers that deter their pursuit of success in life and facilitate opportunities for a better quality of life by effectuating improved health & wellness, facilitating academic success, promoting personal, social & economic growth, providing access to artistic excellence & cultural awareness, increasing financial literacy and building community agencies & institutions.

Bremond Weaver continued, "For decades, data has been telling a story that my people (African Americans) are experiencing a level of death, trauma and disproportionate impact that all of us should be alarmed. It is not acceptable that African Americans are the hardest hit by COVID-19 merely because of a refusal to rectify and reverse centuries of social inequity and disinvestment. African Americans remain at the bottom of every socio- economic indicator including unemployment, underemployment, housing stability and homelessness. Indeed, the fact that we are 8% of the population in Los Angeles County and comprise 33% of the homeless population is literally a crime against humanity. Not to mention the disproportionate demographic of African Americans impacted by the school-to-prison pipeline."

Brotherhood Crusade works to ensure all black and brown Americans have equitable access to human & social services and continually improves their quality of life.

Bremond Weaver continued, "The protests around this city, county and country represent the truth of the African American experience. It represents that we can't protest without bringing in the National Guard. We can't protest without LAPD using rubber bullets, tear gas and their batons. Clearly, there is an urgent need to continue to tell the story that we are a forgotten race, aggressively raise awareness around the issue, mobilize African Americans and our allies, invest the appropriate resources in our community, build competencies and supportive infrastructure within African American communities, and facilitate meaningful policy and systems change to eradicate structurally and institutionally racist systems."

In the 52 years since its founding, Brotherhood Crusade has provided human and social services to more than 100,000 South Los Angeles residents annually. These services include educational enrichment & academic assistance services, arts & drama appreciation, at-risk youth prevention programs, health education, life & social skills training, domestic violence assistance, character development, appreciation of diversity training, employment readiness, post-employment services, counseling, financial education, health screening, health education, access to cultural and artistic excellence, core capacity training for minority-led organization, recreational services, homeless services, and the provision of emergency food, clothing, and shelter.

Recently, with the coronavirus epidemic, The Brotherhood Crusade COVID-19 Community Rapid Response Fund was developed to help youth, young adults and families in this critical time to assist them with basic living, academic and household needs to assist our students while they are away from their schools and the organization's YouthSource Center, which provides training, access to technology and several internships, apprenticeships and job opportunities for its youth.

Bremond Weaver added, "To this end, we all have the power to be part of the solution. Have a conversation with a young African American youth to lift up their voice and to share that we see them, we hear them and we love them. We will be in this fight until institutional racism no longer exists. We will no longer be on the winds of change, we will be the wind!"

George Floyd Memorial Bust Released for 3D Printing by Sculptors Daniel and Rodman Edwards

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- A memorial bust of George Floyd will be available to everyone supporting the Black Lives Matter protests all over the globe. The George Floyd memorial bust, which is currently online for virtual viewing, can also be 3D printed at local libraries, maker spaces, colleges, and community networks of individuals with 3D printers. The 3D printing file is available for free at Sketchfab and is a presentation of love from the sculptors to the Floyd family and protesters at large, announced Cory Allen Contemporary Art.

The memorial bust, modeled after a photo of George Floyd, which has been the source of many community murals, depicts a strong and gentle man. It was created by the father-and-son team of sculptors, Daniel and Rodman Edwards.

"While protesting is pivotal, there are plenty of other effective modes of activism," said Rodman Edwards, "we agreed that using our talents was the best way we could show our support."

3D printing is a service many local libraries are making available to the public and websites like 3D Printing Media Network provide listings of libraries with 3D printers as well as maker spaces. "There is an active 3D printing community and many of those people are staying at home and social distancing, unable to join the protests, but wishing to show their support - they can 3D print a memorial portrait of George Floyd at home, and post images or video of the bust for online vigils through social media," said Daniel Edwards.

"The memorial bust of George Floyd puts power into the peoples' hands. For the first time in history, individuals have the right to choose who they wish to memorialize forever. This is a step in the right direction and will hopefully set about a trend in civic artworks," said Rodman Edwards.

Daniel and Rodman Edwards are sculptors who reside outside of San Francisco. Their work can be viewed at https://HipHopAllStars.Art.

The Memorial Bust for George Floyd will be available for virtual viewing and download at https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/george-floyd-memorial-bust-0c4f918e8e16463e8d5de92bc49a9f23

Connecting with Customers in a COVID World

LOS ANGELES, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- Today, small businesses struggle to find their stride of maintaining relevance during a pandemic. One local Los Angeles entrepreneur - Kim Ashley, founder of Kim Ashley Design - found a meaningful way to connect with her customers.

Ashley has built a successful online business selling her signature stackable gold bead bracelets, chokers and link chains to clients across the nation. "I wanted to find a way to address COVID-19 that struck a positive helpful note for my customers," says Ashley. "I wanted to say be safe by gifting them something useful. It's not about sales right now, it's about reaching out. As a female entrepreneur I've always been focused on empowering women and now more than ever we need to come together to create that spark."

Ashley settled on an easy to carry hand sanitizer pen and sent it to every customer as a gift. There was no purchase involved. "I loved getting my pen!" stated Julia Martinez, a customer. "It was something unexpected and thoughtful. I think new habits are going to stick with all of us and hand hygiene is probably top of the list. This pen is great, I carry it just like sunglasses always there in my side pocket."

As small businesses, the engine of the American jobs machine, find courage and commitment to come back to life, they must create new customer connections. This language between business and patron has to say both we understand the world we are coming back to and we have not forgotten the world we came from just 9 weeks ago. Offering gestures of support during this time will go a long way to strengthen ties between re-starting the American economy boldly.

Kim Ashley Design sells handcrafted stackable gold bead jewelry adorned with gemstones. She lives and works in Los Angeles and her product is American made.

3 Attorneys from Battaglia, Ross, Dicus & McQuaid, P.A. Continue Firm’s Legacy of Leadership in the St. Petersburg Bar Association

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. /ScoopCloud/ -- Battaglia, Ross, Dicus & McQuaid, P.A. is proud to announce that three of its attorneys were sworn into leadership roles of the St. Petersburg Bar Association on May 27, 2020. Sean McQuaid now becomes the 96th President of the Bar Association and Rachel Drude-Tomori and Andrew Pardun join him as members of the Executive Committee.

Battaglia, Ross, Dicus & McQuaid, P.A. is among the oldest law firms in St. Petersburg. However, this is the first time in the over 60-year history of the law firm that three of its lawyers undertook such an important role at the same time in contributing to the St Petersburg Bar Association. During these challenging times, the attorneys will be called upon for their leadership in steering the Association into the "new normal" as it relates to the practice of law.

"To have so many of our lawyers volunteer their time to this noble cause makes me confident that the next generation of lawyers will make significant positive changes in the legal profession," stated Howard Ross, Chairman of the Board for Battaglia, Ross, Dicus & McQuaid, P.A. and a practicing lawyer for 56 years in St. Petersburg.

The three lawyers were sworn into office on May 27, 2020 by Pinellas County Court Judge Edwin Jagger. The ceremony took place via a Zoom call. Executive Director, Melissa Byers, surprised everyone by arranging for approximately 40 past presidents of the Association to appear remotely for the call. One of the past presidents of the St. Petersburg Bar Association was attorney Aubrey Dicus, a partner at Battaglia, Ross, Dicus & McQuaid, P.A. The support of everyone during this time of uncertainty with the virus was a sign of solidarity and hope for the St. Petersburg legal community.

The St. Petersburg Bar Association was founded in 1925 and is the oldest legal professional association in the area. There are over 1,000 members including judges and lawyers in the area. The Association has been nationally recognized due to the innovative programs initiated by its Executive Director. Many of these programs have focused on wellness in the profession and ways to improve benefits to the membership. The Association's goals are to serve the legal community, to strengthen the noble calling of the practice of law, and to foster excellence in the profession.

Sean McQuaid's Role of President

Sean McQuaid's role of President comes after five years of service to the organization. He previously served for four years on the Executive Committee and one year as President-Elect. Mr. McQuaid has been practicing law in St. Petersburg for the past 20 years, all with Battaglia, Ross, Dicus & McQuaid, P.A. In January, he became the Firm's fourth President, taking over from Aubrey Dicus.

Mr. McQuaid practices primarily personal injury, auto accidents and criminal defense. He has been repeatedly recognized for his skills and reputation in the practice of law and is AV rated by Martindale Hubbel, a Florida Super Lawyer, Florida Trend Legal Elite, to name a few. Mr. McQuaid has a history of giving back to the community. He has previously served on the City of St. Peterburg's Nuisance Abatement Board, where he was Chairman for two years. He served for five years on the Judicial Nominating Commission for the 6th Judicial Circuit. He has served on his Homeowner's Association Board for eleven years, and was President for nine of them. He also served for three years on the Executive Committee of the Suncoast Make-a-Wish Foundation.

Rachel Drude-Tomori Begins Her Second Year on the St. Petersburg Bar Association's Executive Committee

Rachel was elected to this position after serving as Chair of the Association's Probate & Guardianship Section for two years and winning the 2019 "Rockin' Chair" award for her leadership and fundraising achievements. Ms. Drude-Tomori is a partner at Battaglia, Ross, Dicus & McQuaid, P.A. specializing in estate planning, probate, and elder law. She is a seasoned presenter on the topic of creative estate planning and was recently elected President of St. Petersburg Toastmasters Club 2284. She has been recognized by her peers and the courts as being elite in her profession as a Super Lawyer Rising Star. She routinely helps high net worth individuals and other professionals with proper asset protection and estate planning advice.

Andrew Pardun Is an Associate at Battaglia, Ross, Dicus & Mcquaid, P.A. and Begins His First Term on the Executive Committee

Mr. Pardun previously served as the Vice-Chairman and two-term Chairman of the Real Property section of the St. Petersburg Bar Association. He currently serves on the City of St. Petersburg Nuisance Abatement Board and is the Vice President of Pinellas County Trial Lawyers Association. Mr. Pardun practices real estate and business law. He also manages the Firm's title company, which is responsible for real estate closings primarily in Pinellas County, Florida.

Battaglia, Ross, Dicus & McQuaid, P.A. has a long standing history of service to the community. Sean McQuaid is now the third President of the St. Petersburg Bar Association from the Firm. During his life, Mr. Battaglia was known for his zealous advocacy for his clients. He handled some of the highest profile cases on the West coast of Florida during his career. Launch Program Helps Companies Start Selling Direct to Consumers in China Via Cross Border E-Commerce

LOS ANGELES, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- ABC Showcase USA, a leading provider of cross border e-commerce services, international trade and logistics fulfillment, established in 2018, announced expansion of a comprehensive solution to help U.S. companies sell directly to consumers in China and S.E. Asia.

Cross border e-commerce is dramatically transforming the way foreign brands penetrate the Chinese market. In 2019 more than $200 billion dollars in commerce was transacted through cross border e-commerce in China and more than 600 million active online consumers are expected by 2023. Perhaps even more exciting, U.S. companies can start selling their products in China without needing to first commit to costly regulatory approvals, re-labeling or modifications.

The rise of cross border e-commerce has brought with it an unprecedented opportunity for American companies to tap sales directly from Chinese consumers. Even with the specter of protracted trade friction between the United States and China, cross border e-commerce offers U.S. brand holders a sensible work around to sell their products in China avoiding high tariffs.

New-to-export companies can begin selling their brands direct to consumers in China including in highly regulated product categories such as health supplements, beauty products, pet food, and packaged foods with no need to directly ship their inventory overseas and thus bypassing a traditional stocking distributor. The Chinese government has recently lowered duties on most consumer goods sold through cross border sales to 9.2 %. Coupled with the expanded Chinese individual personal exemption, consumers can now import up to 5000 RMB($720.00) duty free.

The team at Showcase USA has simplified the cross-border e-commerce process to offer companies a customizable solution to help quickly launch their products rapidly in China. Since the start of 2018, Showcase USA has managed the successful launch of U.S. apparel, beauty, packaged foods, supplements, and innovative consumer goods on Kaola.com and other leading cross border platforms. According to Mark Matsumoto, company co-founder," The expansion of cross border e-commerce has been a game changer for U.S. companies hoping to reach the vast China consumer market. We have developed a turn-key selling model that reduces risk and gives companies assurance dealing with a U.S. based company."

Leveraging the backbone of ABC Depot Logistics who established the 3PL and procurement arm for Netease/Kaola in North America, the ABC Showcase USA model provides brand holders a simple method to manage all aspects of the cross-border process selling on leading platforms including, Kaola.com, Pinduoduo, WeChat and others.

The ABC Showcase USA Store Program provides brand holders the following bundled support:
* Platform authorization and launch within 30 Days
* Product registrations with China Customs
* Translated product listings on ABC Showcase USA Storefront
* Management of inventory and logistics from Los Angeles or New Jersey Warehouse
* Payment collection from Chinese consumers
* Coordination of platform promotion, including facilitation of in-country social media campaigns and participation in live streaming events.
* 24/7 customer service support in China

California based companies can inquire about opportunities to leverage the California Export ICEP Program that may fully subsidize participation in the ABC Showcase USA Pilot Program - a 6-month trial to on board and start selling products on three of the leading cross border e-commerce platforms.

Don't miss your chance to leverage the biggest online shopping day in the world: Singles' Day on 11/11 which is expected to exceed $60 billion dollars. U.S. companies who take advantage of the program offered by ABC Showcase USA can actively participate in Singles' Day and other important online sales incentive days in Fall/Winter 2020.

About ABC Depot Logistics/Showcase USA

Founded in 2005 as a leading provider of end-to-end logistics solutions, combing air freight, ocean freight, warehousing, road rail, express packages and e-commerce services. Having established a strong reputation in the global logistics industry, ABC Depot was enlisted by Netease/Kaola in 2015 to establish a 3PL operation and procurement office in North America. ABC Depot has played a key role helping Kaola.com become the leading cross border e-commerce platform in China. The launch of ABC Showcase USA in 2018 offered brand holders the first affordable and comprehensive cross border e-commerce sales and support solution.

Organic Aromas Defends Intellectual Property

BOISE, Idaho /ScoopCloud/ -- Organic Aromas, the creator of Nebulizing Diffuser(R) aromatherapy products, emphasized today that they have long owned intellectual property rights for their well-known brands Nebulizing Diffuser(R) and Organic Aromas(R) as well as their diffuser products. In an effort to combat unauthorized knock-offs of their brands and products, the company has taken appropriate legal measures to protect their brands and products.

Organic Aromas has been involved in the aromatherapy industry since 2014. It spent years perfecting the technology that makes the Nebulizing Diffuser(R) products work. Now, 6 years after sharing its innovative creation with the world, Organic Aromas has established a reputation in the market as a pioneer in the aromatherapy industry.

The company has been using the brand names "Organic Aromas" and "Nebulizing Diffuser" since 2014 in connection with its diffuser and essential oil products. Since that year, the company has been known for high-end products such as the Raindrop Nebulizing Diffuser(R) and Elegance Nebulizing Diffuser(R) aromatherapy products, the designs for which were originally crafted by the company. Organic Aromas' Nebulizing Diffuser(R) product is known for its ability to diffuse essential oils without the use of heat, water, or plastic.

It recently came to Organic Aromas' attention that a number of companies and sellers have been using the company's brands to sell knock-off products. Pirated versions of the aforementioned products have been found in various online marketplaces. Such practice brings confusion to consumers and infringes on Organic Aromas' intellectual property rights.

This unethical violation of Organic Aromas' rights devalues the hard work invested by the company's creators to develop a unique, efficient product, such as the Nebulizing Diffuser(R) product, and to produce high-quality essential oils and essential oil blends. These products were manufactured with high precision to ensure that every user gets the benefits of aromatherapy.

"It is clear that these unscrupulous sellers who wish to make a quick buck are exploiting the goodwill and solid reputation of Organic Aromas, and in doing so, they are also exploiting our customers," said Mark Fackrell, the company's CFO. "We are steadfast in protecting our intellectual property and our customers. We want to make sure that they get our original, high-quality Nebulizing Diffuser aromatherapy products."

In light of the activities around the market, Organic Aromas has indicated plans to protect their intellectual property from fraudulent companies and individuals. To that end, Organic Aromas has worked with e-commerce websites and legal counsel to successfully address and remove fraudulent listings.

About Organic Aromas

Founded in 2014, Organic Aromas is a luxury essential oil and aromatherapy brand that manufactures the Nebulizing Diffuser(R) aromatherapy product and proprietary essential oil blends. Its Nebulizing Diffuser product is known for its innovative technology that is free of heat, water, and plastic. The Nebulizing Diffuser product disperses essential oils without the use of heat and water so you can enjoy their complete, undiluted benefits and scent in your home.

Organic Aromas' Nebulizing Diffuser product also disperses the scent of essential oils over a large area in a short period. Additionally, it comes in different models that can address your aesthetic and practical needs. The company offers a wide range of essential oils and essential oil blends to suit your preferences.

Katie Knorovsky Named Managing Editor at Hidden Compass

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- In an era where most publications are shrinking, Hidden Compass, an award-winning quarterly magazine on exploration, is expanding. This week, the California-based startup is announcing Katie Knorovsky as its new managing editor.

With roughly 15 years of experience writing and editing for the National Geographic Society, Knorovsky brings a wealth of knowledge to Hidden Compass. Her hire marks a significant step toward the publication's unveiling of an innovative crowd-funded model in the fall.

"After three years of deep involvement with the stories that appear in our magazine, Co-founder Sabine Bergmann and I are ready to hand the reins to another editorial expert," says Co-founder Sivani Babu. Knorovsky is primed to help chart the course of this promisingly unconventional publication. Having championed the expertise of countless global explorers, from space archaeologists to glaciologists, Knorovsky is no stranger to what drives Hidden Compass' co-founders.

"Every day, we're getting closer to realizing our mission: to not only introduce you to the heroes you should have, but invite you to partner with them," says Co-founder Sabine Bergmann. "Katie Knorovsky will help us make badass nerd the new flavor of influencer."

5,000 elementary schools across America are searching for a safe way to offer recess during the Pandemic

WEBB CITY, Mo. /ScoopCloud/ -- A pandemic recess solution is being released by Peaceful Playgrounds Inc. A 6-foot Distancing Playground, the brainchild of award-winning educator and playground designer, Dr. Melinda Bossenmeyer, is an answer sure to thrill millions of children as they return to school in the fall. Why? Dr. Bossenmeyer has saved recess! While some educators assume that a 6-foot distancing requirement will eliminate recess altogether, Dr. Bossenmeyer thinks otherwise.

Dr. Bossenmeyer, a longtime teacher and principal from Southern California, asked: "Why should we eliminate recess from the school day?" With some paint and planning, she maintains that "recess can still be safe." She knows a little about school safety and recess. Her Peaceful Playgrounds Program has been shown to reduce injuries, bullying, conflicts in more than 8,000 schools across the nation over the past 20 years. Play structures are not part of her pandemic playground plan. Following CDC recess recommendations during Covid-19 she recommends recess area by class in activity zones.

Drawing on her strong background in playground safety and design, Dr. Bossenmeyer created a 6-foot Social Distancing Playground. She has created a series of Activity Zones with age-appropriate games and learning activities to be painted on existing playground surfaces using blueprints, and prefabricated stencils. QR codes can be scanned with smart phones or smart tablets for video instructions on all the games and activities which inform teachers teaching the activities.

The 6-foot Distancing Playground consists of 4 parameters to maintain social distancing, while still affording playground and recess activity for the kids:

* Activity Zones Painted on the Asphalt - The first object was to regulate movement but still allow children to move and burn off some steam. As a result, game courts are painted with painted dots and boxes to indicate waiting lines and to maintain suggested social distancing.

* Limited Equipment - To avoid spreading the virus with playground equipment such as red playground balls or playground structures, the 6-foot Social Distancing Playground is designed with age appropriate challenges and limited equipment which is not shared. An example of equipment used in the Social Distancing Playground is a plastic water bottle the children bring from home to play a bottle toss game. Schools have no need to sanitize school equipment and utilization of play structures is not recommended.

* Dots Mark the Spot - Each student must stand on a dot which indicates their spot in line, and it restricts movement but still allows movement while maintaining a 6-foot spacing between students and activities. No one should be wandering aimlessly around the playground. They select one activity zone by classroom and remain there for the duration of the recess period. (*CDC Guideline for recess during covid-19 outbreak.)

* Maintaining Control and Organized Supervision - A freeze bell is recommended. Student freeze at the bell ending recess and wait to be dismissed by each Activity Zone utilizing Designated Walkways to avoid crowding when lining up to exit the playground. As with all recess conducted, Social Distancing guidelines requires supervision from School Staff. Staggered recess periods are recommended which is also a CDC guideline.

In 1995, then Principal Melinda Bossenmeyer put the first Peaceful Playgrounds program into practice at an elementary school in Southern California. The concept was an overnight success and brought accolades and recognition. In 1999, Dr. Bossenmeyer's elementary school was honored with the State of California's Golden Bell Award in the Student-Safety Category from the California School Boards Association.

"With the COVID-19 lockdowns and children sheltering in place," Dr. Bossenmeyer said, "it is inconceivable that young children be further confined at school sites when school resumes this fall." She maintains that with a little paint and planning, children can resume recess while maintaining social distancing.

‘Real Power Today,’ led by Pastor Arnie Klann kicks off his 2020 Spiritual Warfare Retreats in Laguna Hills, CA

LAGUNA HILLS, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- Pastor Arnie Klann, "Real Power Today" announced. Pastor Klann is thrilled to have the opportunity to kick off ministry "that speaks to the unusual and trying times of today, that can lead to strong spiritual interface."

The ministry series is "Real Power Today." The series will kick-off June 25th & June 26th in a Retreat format. The focus is on helping people to push back and heal against Spiritual attack, through a Christian and scriptural format.

The conference series is designed to be targeted, hopeful, and educational. Spiritual Warfare is a Deliverance based, Biblical study.

In a recent interview, Pastor Arnie Klann introduced his theme, "Refueling a Mid-Crisis Life." "The retreats serve as a training, healing, and educational tool; specifically, for alleviating what can feel like a spiritual depression or anxiety. The purpose is to be assisted in prayer for the aid of healing."

In reviewing Pastor Klann's concept, it was intriguing to find that these conferences will be set up in a private and relaxed setting; led primarily by an educational base and an opportunity for small group prayer or private prayer. It will be a day long retreat, which includes a luncheon, the ability to relax on break-time in a beautiful coiffed landscape with water and fountains.

"The relaxation environment is secondary to the primary goal of healing in a deeper, scriptural, and Christian-based venue," Klann states.

The retreats are designed to be intentionally small, (maximum of 10 participants); in order to get more personal prayer time achieved in a shorter period; rather than multiple visits at church.

For more information, scheduling & pricing can be found at https://realpowertoday.com/ website.

Proper Lawn Mowing Technique is Important for Successful Grass Growth

HUNTINGDON VALLEY, Pa. /ScoopCloud/ -- If a homeowner's lawn looks uneven and just plain ugly in some spots, how the grass is being mowed might be affecting its appearance, says Giroud Tree and Lawn. From how to set the mower height to how soon after the rain falls the grass is cut, good mowing practices are important for keeping a lawn looking vibrant, healthy, and green all season long.

Start with Clean, Sharp Blades

Before mowing the lawn, homeowners should make sure the mower blades are sharp and ready to give an even cut. Always clean mower blades between each mow to prevent the spread of fungus and diseases.

Lawn Mowing Height

Grass should always be cut at 3-4 inches or higher, especially during the warmer months. Taller grass will provide a canopy to retain soil moisture and will prevent unsightly browning, shade weed and crabgrass seeds, and facilitate deep root growth. Giroud recommends that no more than 1/3 of top growth be removed per cutting.

How Often to Mow

When mowed infrequently, tall, wet grass may leave clumps pf clippings that can smother turf and provide an opening for weed infiltration. Mow on a regular schedule, about every 7-10 days. However, homeowners should also be mindful of the weather! If there experience a dry spell, mow less often to give the grass a chance to grow. If there is a lot of rain, grass will surely grow faster; but be careful about mowing when grass is wet. Clumps of dead, wet grass left behind after a lawn mowing can lead to lawn fungus issues.

Lawn Mowing on Slopes

If the yard has a slope to it, homeowners should be careful about mowing in that area. Always mow slopes sideways to prevent scalping. Not only does this prevent damage to the lawn, but it's also a safer practice for operating the lawn mower.

Still Seeing Lawn Problems?

If homeowners find that the lawn still doesn't look good, there might have an underlying issue with the grass or soil, such as diseases or insect infestations. Call a certified Lawn Care company for a complete Lawn Evaluation.

Amid Ongoing Work-From-Home Requirements, DocMagic Provides its eSign Technology at Zero Cost to Boost Employee Productivity

TORRANCE, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- DocMagic, Inc., the premier provider of fully-compliant loan document preparation, regulatory compliance and comprehensive eMortgage services, announced it has made an agnostic version of its eSign technology available for free in order to help organizations increase productivity, efficiency and compliance among work-from-home employees during COVID-19 stay-at-home orders as well as after they are lifted. DocMagic is the leader in eSign technology within the mortgage industry, having executed more than 300 million eSign transactions and counting.

Nearly every company relies on signed documents in some part of its core business activities. These agreements often require signatures from multiple parties. Documents are often printed several times, then faxed or emailed, making the process not only cumbersome, laborious and time consuming, but prone to risk as well. Over the past several months, since the inception of social distancing requirements of the COVID-19 pandemic, companies are finding that signing and securely delivering these documents in a timely manner has become a challenge.

DocMagic's eSign technology is traditionally used by mortgage loan borrowers to compliantly eSign initial mortgage loan document disclosures and closing documents. However, DocMagic has modified the platform, making it document agnostic, enabling it to easily handle the execution of important documents such as contracts, NDAs, LOIs and virtually any other agreement, to be electronically signed and legally binding.

"As stay-at-home orders began to open up in more states, large numbers of home-based workers in all industries will continue with the telecommute model and thus continue facing challenges with signing and executing documents," said Dominic Iannitti, president and CEO at DocMagic. "Many employees are using makeshift home offices that lack the hardware, devices, and software to facilitate compliant e-signings. Fortunately, DocMagic is in a great position to help with a proven platform used in one of the strictest, most highly regulated industries. Our eSign technology allows companies to circumvent wet signings, back-and-forth emails, and scanning or faxing documents, for a proven, highly secure, compliant electronic platform."

DocMagic's eSign platform makes electronically signing documents a snap - without the need for any hardware or software. It's 100 percent web-based, easy-to-use, requires no installation or maintenance whatsoever, and can be securely accessed via any device with an internet connection. DocMagic eSign also provides for the secure capture of electronic signatures for all documents stored in the PDF file format. Documents are digitally sealed and access is provided to all parties with audit trail capabilities, document versioning, tracking, and email notifications.

In a recent Zillow survey conducted by The Harris Poll, more than half of employed Americans (56 percent) have had the opportunity to work from home, and a vast majority want to continue, at least occasionally, according to the poll. Among Americans working from home because of the pandemic, 75 percent said they would prefer to continue to do so at least half the time, if given the option, after the pandemic subsides. And two-thirds (66 percent) of those employees said they would be at least somewhat likely to consider moving if they had the flexibility to work from home as often as they want.

Iannitti adds: "We believe that even after stay-at-home orders are gradually lifted, there will still be a significant number of businesses that find the telecommute model to be pragmatic, efficient, and cost effective. After the COVID-19 pandemic slowly winds down, we still want to make our eSign technology available for free. It's our ongoing way of giving back in order to help companies remain as successful as possible."

To clarify, DocMagic's free offer pertains to the agnostic eSign solution only, not mortgage-specific eSignings involving the company's dynamic loan document generation service. Interested organizations can learn more by contacting DocMagic at sales@docmagic.com or call (800) 649-1362.

SunBug Solar Celebrates the Milestone of Serving 2000 Customers

WESTFIELD, Mass. /ScoopCloud/ -- SunBug Solar, a Massachusetts solar energy provider with offices in Westfield and Arlington Mass., is pleased to announce the installation of its 2,000th customer. John Hoogstraten and Eileen Keegan, a couple residing in Williamsburg, Mass., are SunBug's 2,000th clients, having gone solar not once, but twice.

Hoogstraten, a semi-retired contractor, was skeptical at first when first introduced to photovoltaic (PV) solar through the Solarize Mass program in 2014. The program, run by the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center, helps municipalities design, promote, and execute limited- time group programs that educate residents on the benefits of green energy while offering them discounts on installations. Keegan encouraged her husband to overcome that initial skepticism and look into the matter further.

"I figured there was no harm in learning more, so I went to one of their information sessions," said Hoogstraten. "I signed up for a site assessment and we ran the numbers."

When John and Eileen realized that the system would pay for itself in about seven years, they began the process to have his first solar energy system installed. They chose to invest in a plan that would deliver just enough energy to meet their home's consumption.

The system proved profitable for the energy needs of their home, but only when supplemented with the firewood John chops himself. Because John and Eileen plan to age-in-place, and are looking toward a time when chopping wood is no longer feasible nor desirable. Their plan to add air source heat pumps (ASHPs) for heating meant their electric load would increase, and wanted to add additional PV so as to avoid as much fossil fuel use as possible.

Again, through MassCEC they learned about the Solar Access Program, an effort to help homeowners install ASHPs in conjunction with solar. While they did not initially qualify, Dan Britton, a member of the residential solar design team at SunBug's Westfield location encouraged them to not give up. They might qualify in the next calendar year.

"They mentioned they were entering semi-retirement and expected their 2019 income might qualify, so I suggested they can re-apply after they file their 2019 taxes," said Britton.

By March of this year, John and Eileen confirmed their eligibility and the conversation with SunBug continued.

In the end, they opted for an additional 2.5 kW of roof mounted solar and a Tesla Powerwall battery for backup for when the grid goes down. SunBug system designer Dan Britton said it was a clear choice. "We decided to add a battery backup because all of the stars were in alignment: they have a dry, clean basement with space for a battery adjacent to their electric panel, they can include the battery system in the Mass Solar Loan to get additional income-based loan support, they can take advantage of the adder for batteries in the state's SMART solar incentive, and they can opt in to the utility's Connected Solutions program to get additional revenue to offset the battery cost."

SunBug is thrilled to be able to count such committed renewable energy enthusiasts at their 2000th customer, and as a show of appreciation is happily discounting the couple $2000 off their new solar electric system. "That discount will be an enormous help to us as we implement these enhancements to our home and quality of life," said Hoogstraten. "We are thrilled to be doing business with SunBug, tickled to find ourselves in the position of being your 2000th customer, and deeply grateful for this gesture."

"Congratulations to SunBug Solar on their 2000th installation," said MassCEC CEO Steve Pike. "MassCEC is pleased to partner with John Hoogstraten and Eileen Keegan, and 5,500 other Massachusetts residents who have accessed clean, renewable solar power through the Mass Solar Loan program."

About SunBug Solar:

SunBug Solar is a local, Massachusetts owned-and-operated solar energy consulting and installation company with offices in Arlington and Westfield, MA. SunBug Solar creates positive environmental and social impact by exemplifying our core values of responsiveness, resourcefulness, and reliability with our customers, within our industry, and among our teammates. Founded in 2009 and a Certified B Corporation since 2018, SunBug has clients across Massachusetts from Great Barrington to Cape Cod. We design and build all types of solar systems, ranging in size from 1kW to over 1MW, including residential, commercial, carports, and ground-mounts. SAN DIEGO, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- A local San Diego company, The PPE Supply Co., plays a significant role in getting hospitals and government agencies the PPE they need. Located in San Marcos, California the company began in an attempt to help during the coronavirus crisis. However, it ended up becoming one of the largest companies facilitating hospitals, businesses and government agencies personal protective equipment (PPE) around the country.

Serial entrepreneur Bardia Rahim began the company in quarantine as he followed the news leading up to the pandemic. "I kept hearing on the news about the PPE shortage in hospitals and just wanted to help. I knew a few of my friends were large-scale suppliers so I reached out to see what we could do. I just made a few phone calls and had no idea how massively this would turn out. I saw a need and just took action."

Rahim initially founded the company with the mere intention to help, but has now secured substantial government contracts with the pentagon as well as large hospital buying groups nationwide. These contracts will help supply over 500,000 hospitals with PPE amidst the shortage due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The PPE Supply Co. specializes in "spot buys" out of Los Angeles. This means that goods to be distributed to buyers are already landed and ready to be delivered immediately within the USA. With counterfeit PPE sales at an all-time high, Rahim believes that dealing with USA manufactured goods is the best and safest way to operate.

Spot buy deals also ensure that the goods are readily available, as many distributors are making claims on fictitious lots. The spot buy is a buying practice typically used by hospitals during crises, or when there is a shortage and they need goods "on the fly." They are faster transactions on live products which ship immediately. These deals are extremely prevalent now, as there is an overwhelming shortage in PPE supply, during the current state of emergency.

Especially since relations with China, the main producers of PPE for the USA, are turbulent most buyers have been forced to source goods within the country. The Trump administration has put extensive tariffs on Chinese exports and even halted their shipments amidst the recent trade war. This is good news for USA producers, however, there is still extreme shortage as output volumes are not yet up to par with the overwhelming demands.

The PPE Supply Co's efforts are acknowledged. Hopefully this will be a catalyst and inspiration for companies and individuals to pivot and find success amidst chaos. Small businesses fuel the economy so it is important to keep them alive and well. Rahim says his company will designate twenty percent of its profits toward mask donations to hospitals nationwide.

Maryland Food Truck Week 2020 Will Roll Out in July

BALTIMORE, Md. /ScoopCloud/ -- After many weeks of reflection, we made the decision to uphold Maryland Food Truck Week's dates to July 10 - 26, 2020, event organizer Au Jus Solutions, announced today. Since Maryland entered a State of Emergency and Governor Hogan issued a stay-at-home order, Food Trucks, who are essential businesses, never truly stopped operating.

When business parks shut down, Food Trucks started to focus on helping front line workers by delivering freshly cooked hot meals to hospitals and first responders. Soon enough, all large-scale events were canceled or postponed but it did not stop the creativity of food truckers who realized that the need was now in the heart of our communities. While Marylanders were flattening the curve, Food Trucks started to set up in neighborhoods to offer more food options to residents.

"COVID-19 Pandemic truly shows the resilience of the food truck industry and its capacity to adapt to any situation in order to continue their mission of serving the community," declared Willy Dely, founder and owner of Au Jus Solutions, a Baltimore-based food and beverage consulting agency which has been organizing Maryland Food Truck Week since 2016.

The 2020 edition of Maryland Food Truck Week is presented by the Maryland Mobile Food Vending Association [MDMFVA].

"As an industry that relied heavily on catering to the masses, we suddenly had to find alternative methods to survive the pandemic and care for our families; being mobile was one of our assets, but it quickly became our downfall when it came to COVID-19's new ways of life," said Nicole Youse, President of the MDMFVA and Chef/Owner of Crossroads Bistro.

She added: "As the president of the MDMFVA, I have never been more proud to be a part of this industry and see the good the members, my competitors, my comrades, and my family are doing in this 'new' world. I was nervous about the decimation of our industry in the beginning, but I have been proven wrong, and have never been more excited to see where we take the industry from here!"

This season again, Maryland Food Truck Week benefits Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland. "In 2019, we raised $2,631.25 for Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland," said Dely. He added, "What Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland does is incredible and benefit the local community so much. Giving back to them is the minimum we can do to help them, especially during these difficult times."

The mission of Meals on Wheels is to enable people to live independently at home through the provision of nutritious meals, personal contact, and related services, which is even more important during these uncertain times.

"Since March 17th, Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland has produced, packed, and delivered over 500,000 nutritious, ready-to-heat and eat meals to homebound seniors and other vulnerable populations who are without access to food," said Stephanie Archer-Smith, Executive Director of Meals on Wheels of central Maryland. She added: "We quickly expanded our meal volume from 25,000 meals weekly to over 75,000 meals. The need for our services has continued to rise, with no foreseeable decline. We are all being called to do more, and we are answering that call with extraordinary effort, commitment and grace."

This edition of Maryland Food Truck Week will most certainly be different from past years as it will not be celebrated with large gatherings of food trucks and people. But this is the perfect opportunity to showcase the vast diversity of the industry with even more neighborhoods to visits as it is expected around 15 daily food truck spots to visit, throughout central Maryland.

All food trucks and locations will be posted on https://www.marylandfoodtruckweek.com/ in the next couple weeks.

During Maryland Food Truck Week, visitors will be invited to enjoy all culinary creations as well as exclusive specials, tailored for the celebration.

Teenager Creates COVID-19 Wristbands to Educate and Raise Awareness

CHICAGO, Ill. /ScoopCloud/ -- What started out as a small family project for three teenagers concerned for their grandparents' safety during quarantine has taken off with the launch of COVID-19 Wristband, LLC. Kenna Royce, 17, and her two younger brothers, Hayden and Colby, launched an innovative effort to help others communicate and encourage safe social distancing practices during the pandemic. The Royce siblings created the COVID-19 Wristband project.

"The wristbands feature colors and embossing that signify unique designations regarding COVID-19 status and role," says Kenna Royce.

Wristbands are available in Red, Green, Yellow and Purple:

* Red = High-Risk -- The red designation is for individuals who are at higher risk of contracting the virus. This includes seniors, as well as individuals of any age with a compromised immune system or an underlying medical condition that increases their risk. A red wristband helps communicate that status to others nearby and encourage them to practice extreme social distancing.

* Green = Recovered -- The green wristbands are for those who have recovered from COVID-19. Royce created this designation to encourage people who have recovered from the virus to share information about their experience and inspire others to practice safe social distancing to prevent further spread.

* Yellow = Cautious -- Yellow COVID-19 wristbands are for people who are neither high-risk nor recovered. Their status is unknown; they may not have the virus, or they may be carriers who are not exhibiting any symptoms. The yellow wristband reminds them and others to continue to follow public health recommendations designed to prevent the further spread of the virus.

* Purple = Essential Workers -- The purple wristbands don't communicate COVID-19 status. Instead, they are designed to celebrate the contributions of frontline workers including healthcare professionals, grocery employees, delivery personnel, maintenance workers, and others. Royce created the purple wristband as a symbol of unity and solidarity for those who deserve our thanks and appreciation during the pandemic - and to encourage people around these essential workers to express their gratitude.

Wristbands can be ordered for $2 each at https://www.covidwristband.com/.

To date, wristbands have been shipped to 25 states across the US, from California to Maine. The Royce family is donating all proceeds from the sales of the COVID-19 wristbands. So far, donations have been made to local hospitals, assisting living facilities, restaurants, and retailers. To learn more, visit: https://www.covidwristband.com

Tucson Startup Focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI) Water Management Project Helps Sustain a European Nation

TUCSON, Ariz. /ScoopCloud/ -- The University of Arizona Center for Innovation has announced that NOAH Malta, a subsidiary of NOAH Arizona LLC, a company based on technology invented at the University of Arizona and started at the University of Arizona Center for Innovation (UACI), has been awarded a groundbreaking contract by the European Union.

The contract entitled "DEVELOPMENT OF A PREDICTIVE WATER ABSTRACTION AND PRODUCTION MODELLING FRAMEWORK," engages NOAH Malta to study the feasibility of implementing NOAH's patented water management decision support system on the island nation of Malta. NOAH is working in partnership with Malta's Energy and Water Agency (EWA) and the Water Services Corporation (WSC), the water utility in Malta.

Malta, the most densely populated European nation, is an archipelago consisting of one main island and several smaller ones located in the Mediterranean Sea between Sicily and Africa. It ranks among the most water scarce nations in the world. Today, with a booming economy and thriving as a popular tourist destination, Malta is experiencing a "perfect storm" that is becoming all too typical across the globe: too little natural freshwater for its growing demand, made worse by more frequent droughts from climate change.

NOAH's patented water management system combines real-time data streams with AI and optimization models. The system helps identify optimal water management strategies that minimize costs while maximizing water sustainability and quality. Working with the startup incubation team at the University of Arizona Center for Innovation has helped NOAH identify new markets and prove how AI can be used in a variety of ways to provide meaningful predictions and optimization solutions for the water problems that nations like Malta are facing. NOAH's system is highly flexible and can be used in combination with pre-existing models and methods developed by a utility to augment their management objectives.

The project will explore the possibility of optimizing the current potable water production infrastructure to produce the required volume of potable water and achieve the best water quality possible whilst minimizing costs.

Malta's project goal is to collaborate with NOAH to study the feasibility of integrating their real-time decision support system with WSC's existing models and methods. The partnership and its outcomes may ultimately serve as a paradigm applicable to other European countries facing similar water problems, as well as other water-stressed countries around the world.

"This is a wonderful opportunity for NOAH to further advance our system by collaborating with water experts in Malta. They are on the front-line of some of the world's most serious and difficult water problems," says Emery Coppola, NOAH LLC co-founder and president.

"Noah is one of those companies that we are extremely thrilled about supporting with our incubation program. Dr. Coppola and the other co-founders are working on leading-edge technology with immense growth potential for the company and significant positive impact - in this case on the well-being of an entire nation," expresses Eric Smith, Executive Director of University of Arizona Center for Innovation

Currently Malta obtains approximately sixty percent (60%) of its water supply from three (3) reverse osmosis (RO) plants. The remaining water demand is met through extraction of diminishing groundwater via 100 production wells. The groundwater is extracted from complex limestone aquifers characterized by karst features. These limestone eroded aquifers with preferential flow pathways are extremely difficult to model with conventional physics-based groundwater simulation models. Historical over-pumping of the limestone aquifers has caused significant saltwater intrusion from the surrounding ocean, degrading groundwater quality.

A major challenge will be to identify the optimal trade-off between RO and groundwater sources among multiple conflicting objectives given that the water quality from RO is superior to groundwater, whereas the production costs required to produce freshwater by RO are higher than groundwater. These objectives include water quality and cost, proper targeting of specific groundwater wells to pump and the most effective pumping rates to minimize salt-water intrusion. Individual supply wells also have variable operating costs and water quality conditions; they also are subject to different salt-water intrusion effects on the aquifer that can dynamically vary due to regional pumping and other conditions.

Accurate predictions are essential for achieving superior real-time water resources management decisions. In collaboration with the Agency and WSC, NOAH's will explore the feasibility of applying their system to supplement the utility's existing models and methods to help manage Malta's enormously complex and challenging water problems.

A nation with a storied history and culture, optimal water management is an imperative that will allow this Mediterranean jewel to flourish far into the future.

The 2020 Black Hole Recession – COVID-19 Effect on Metro Denver Home Values

DENVER, Colo. /ScoopCloud/ -- Clear Realty and their real estate technology division Sell-Star released today an in-depth report on how the economic freefall triggered by fear of death from COVID-19 instantly formed the 2020 Black Hole Recession and now affects Metro Denver home values and the safety of 250,000 or so families and individuals wishing to sell or buy a home over the next two-and-a-half years.

This report includes the interactive web-based tool Sell-Star Prophet, which forecasts by neighborhood home values and days-on-market for years 2020, 2021 and 2022 and defines qualities of homes buyers pay the most to attain-exactly what to advertise to attract buyers.

In normal economic downturns deteriorating business activities lead to increasing unemployment over a period of six months to perhaps eighteen months. The COVID-19 induced 2020 recession skipped the entire declining economic conditions portion of the cycle, instead the economy was like a massive sun burning bright, then in a moment collapsing in on itself creating a black hole-the very trough of the economic cycle.

"It's fear of infection from human interaction triggering this economic black hole and real estate sales have a lot of human interaction. Sell-Star Prophet helps reduce unnecessary interaction by showing homeowners how to vastly improve their internet marketing," said Creed Smith, Broker/Owner, Clear Realty.

Unlike most economic reports using national or regional data on Gross Domestic Product and unemployment rates, Sell-Star Prophet displays actionable forecasts for homeowners by specific Metro Denver neighborhoods including:
* Home values for 2020, 2021 and 2022
* Days-On-Market timeframes for 2020, 2021 and 2022
* Rank-ordered list of qualities most desired by buyers for superior internet marketing
* Rank-ordered list of value harming deficiencies owners should correct to maximize home value

"COVID-19 put the brakes, likely permanently, on high personal contact methods when selling a home. Nobody wants the risk of armies of people marching through their home every week, and buyers prefer the safety and convenience of window-shopping homes on the internet. Sell-Star Prophet defines the exact rank-ordered qualities homeowners need to advertise to attract the best buyers, keep home values up and keep days-on-market down," said Creed Smith, owner of Clear Realty and inventor of Sell-Star Prophet.

AutoAccident.com: As Lawsuits Mount, Johnson & Johnson Ends Sales of Talc-Based Baby Powder in the U.S.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- AutoAccident.com: After a century of selling baby powder, Johnson & Johnson has decided to pull the plug on further sales of its talc-based product. Sales will officially end in the U.S. and Canada after supplies already on the shelf run out.

Johnson & Johnson has never admitted blame for its cancer-causing talcum powder and still defends it in court despite evidence to the contrary.

Johnson & Johnson knew its talc-based baby powder was contaminated with asbestos in the 1970s yet hid this knowledge from the public for nearly five decades.

Johnson & Johnson tried to coerce FDA officials to not release reports showing asbestos contamination.

Approximately 19,400 lawsuits have been filed as of Spring 2020, yet Johnson & Johnson continues to defend the purity of its product and has appealed most pro-plaintiff verdicts.

Demand has decreased and sales have flattened for talc-based baby powder as consumers worry about its link to ovarian cancer.

A New Jersey jury hits Johnson & Johnson with a $750 million verdict in favor of four plaintiffs in February 2020.

A New Jersey judge allowed the plaintiff's medical and scientific experts to testify against Johnson & Johnson in April 2020. This gives the 16,000 other cases already field the green-light to proceed.

The distinction positions the TC346 system as the 'go-to' composite material that can help high-performance motorsports programs attain significant performance improvements," says Steven Mead, Managing Director of Toray Advanced Composites. Mead notes that Toray produces the prepreg at its operations in the U.K. and U.S., which will enhance the company's support of the motorsport market in those regions.

Toray's TC346 has excellent compression strength, interlaminar shear strength, in-plane shear modulus, and improved elevated temperature tensile strength. The TC346 system offers a superior surface finish for aesthetic appeal and controlled flow of the resin to simplify lay-up and curing production. Other motorsport component applications that require lightweighting with superior toughness would also benefit from the inherent properties of TC346.

Additionally, applications that require high glass transition temperatures, excellent compression strength, and high fracture toughness could also benefit from this super-tough and flame-resistant epoxy prepreg system. TC346 is available in a wide variety of uni-directional tapes and fabric styles.
