William Cox III Signs with JR Motorsports Late Model Team

RALEIGH, N.C. /ScoopCloud/ -- Young racing prodigy, William Cox III will put his talents to the test with JR Motorsports' championship-winning Late Model team for 2021, while collaborating with 2020 NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series champion Josh Berry.

Cox, a resident of Raleigh, North Carolina, is poised to compete in his first full-time Late Model season. At the astonishing age of 15 he is joining a program with an impressive list of drivers including Anthony Alfredo, William Byron, Christian Eckes, Sam Mayer, and others. He will also be a member of the Chevrolet Driver's Edge Development team for 2021.

Rising quickly through karting and U.S. Legend Car ranks, Cox has arrived at JR Motorsports. A dream he's had since his first brush with speed, when as a small boy he attended a sports car race at Virginia International Raceway with his father. Subsequently after discovering a love for racing he began driving go-karts following a test at GoPro Motorplex in Mooresville, N.C. Competing in the local karting ranks the following year, Cox expanded into the national touring groups in the United States and Canada. After competing three road races, he earned his SCCA license in 2019.

"This is amazing, and I cannot thank JR Motorsports enough for choosing me for such an awesome opportunity," Cox commented. "It's going to allow me to bring my performance up to another level because now I have such great equipment. Instead of it being about relying only on the equipment, I can now focus on improving myself as a driver and enhancing my abilities."

Cox will be working alongside veteran driver, teammate, and mentor Josh Berry, who served as one of his instructors during the Late Model test at Hickory Speedway in North Carolina last season.

"He's got so much experience and has accomplished so much," Cox said of Berry. "With him having helped me from day one, now that he's my teammate, I have a great coach standing beside me."

"I've been around a lot of talented drivers in my career and William is certainly going to turn heads and make statements," offered Chad Bryant, owner of Chad Bryant Racing where Cox formerly competed, "We're proud of his success and look forward to seeing him strengthen his resume not only next year, but down the road, too."

Cox shifted to U.S. Legend Car racing to begin training on ovals on the advice of driver development manager Lorin Ranier. While competing in the Young Lions division around the Southeast, Cox led all 30 laps of the U.S. Legend Car Nationals championship race at Carteret County Speedway in North Carolina to earn the Young Lions national championship. Shortly after that Cox was leading the World Road Course Finals in Atlanta but ultimately finished third due to contact with another competitor. Last season, Cox moved up to the U.S. Legend Car Pro Series and planned a full season but was unfortunately derailed by the coronavirus restrictions.

In April, he tested a Late Model Stock Car at Hickory (N.C.) Motor Speedway. Upon his 15th birthday, Cox competed in the Carolina Pro Late Model Series, moving up to Late Model Stock Car competition following his first victory in July. Cox made his first CARS Racing Tour start in July at Hickory, finishing on the lead lap in 15th.

During his down time, when not racing, William Cox attends online classes through Liberty University's Online Academy.

Cox continues to be a force to be reckoned with, as he is considered one of the youngest rising stars on the track, yet maneuvering himself as a solid racing veteran.

Move For Hunger and FINCOR Construction Partner Up In The Fight Against Hunger Nationwide

LAUREL, Md. /ScoopCloud/ -- FINCOR Construction, a multi-family renovator operating along the east coast, and Move For Hunger, a national relief non-profit organization, have announced a new partnership that will fight hunger and reduce food waste nationwide. Recent reports say that nearly 8 million Americans have fallen into poverty since the summer. It's the fastest rise since tracking began 60 years ago, and food banks across the country are expecting a 60% increase in demand.

Move For Hunger was founded in 2009 by Adam Lowy, the son of a third-generation mover, when he noticed that people throw away a lot of perfectly good food when they move. Starting with his own family's moving company and building from there, Move For Hunger now has a network of over 1,000 moving companies, many of the world's leading relocation management companies, and more than 1,500 multi-family apartment communities, all helping to fight to end hunger by collecting food items and delivering them to local food banks in all 50 states and Canada.

To date, Move For Hunger's network has collected and delivered more than 20 million pounds of food - providing 17 million meals.

The partnership will enable FINCOR to support Move For Hunger's food rescue programs and encourage the multi-family industry clients they work with to integrate the Move For Hunger model into their standard operating processes for customers who are moving. It will also provide the opportunity to continue to expand the Move For Hunger network: a robust community of engaged individuals that want to make a difference in the lives of others and have the transportation resources available to create large-scale change.

The partnership with FINCOR along with their recent fundraiser will also help provide nearly 27,000 meals to those in need.

"FINCOR has been an amazing partner in the fight against hunger," said Adam Lowy, Executive Director and Founder of Move For Hunger. "FINCOR recognizes that the hunger crisis continues to affect this country at staggering rates. We're grateful for their continued support in helping us provide meals to those in need."

"There are people that need help now more than ever. People are facing issues through no fault of their own, and we have the opportunity and ability to help," said Michael C. Finn, President of FINCOR. "We felt Move for Hunger was the best fit for us to do the most good as we specialize in renovating apartments where residents have to clean out their kitchens before we start. We thought it would be a great addition to the community where residents can donate non-perishables while cleaning out their living spaces."

Through the support of partners like FINCOR Construction, Move For Hunger can continue to make a difference at a time when it's needed the most.

Rahoo Baby allows all parents to feel confident about their baby’s developmental milestones with new virtual offerings via ‘Rahoo U’

BOSTON, Mass. /ScoopCloud/ -- Boston startup Rahoo Baby, a baby product company made up by a team of physicians and pediatric therapists, is launching "Rahoo U," an online classroom for parents. Launching January 25, Rahoo U teaches parents the most effective techniques for helping babies master the skills they need at each stage of development, and offers guidance on how parents can incorporate these techniques into their daily routines.

Courses, which cost only $49.99 are led by a team of licensed pediatric therapists with experience from the most competitive hospitals and clinics in the Boston area.

As developmental delays become increasingly more common, today's parents know the importance of learning and overall brain development during a child's first year of life. Unfortunately, though, 90% of parents still don't receive support from qualified healthcare professionals who know how to provide the most developmentally rich early learning experiences for infants.

In the course "Mastering Baby Milestones," parents are taught specific, clinically-validated activities and techniques that help babies master the skills they most often struggle to develop on their own. Topics covered include skills such as crawling, independent sitting, and tummy-time (which 75% of parents report as a stressor at home). Mastering Baby Milestones also contains discussions about the subjects parents don't learn about until it's too late, such as how to prevent flat-head syndrome, and why it's so important that babies learn to move!

"As pediatric therapists, we've spent nearly a decade working hands-on with infants, and coaching parents on how to get the most out of their baby's first months of development," says Co-founder and CEO Matt Breen. "We're focused on bringing this information to parents from all walks of life."

As Americans spend more of their lives online in new ways, the team saw an opportunity to create Rahoo U. "The best part is being able to reach more families without having to leave their homes. Our goal is to make sure that access to early childhood development tools becomes more equitable, and this is just a starting point," Breen adds.

About Rahoo Baby

Rahoo Baby is on a mission to ensure that all parents have access to the tools and information that spark infant development. Rahoo Baby provides uniquely designed, meaningful baby products that have a lasting impact on early childhood development. Founded in 2018 by pediatric occupational therapists Matthew Breen and Erica Costa along with Physician Thomas Quinn, the group of healthcare professionals came together to play their role in making sure babies can have the best possible start in life.

The award-winning Rahoo Baby Learn & Lounge can be found online at Buy Buy Baby, and launches with Target in March 2021. Rahoo Baby plans to launch their second and third products in the Summer of 2021.

CLARKSBURG, Md. /ScoopCloud/ -- The Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA) has recognized Sydney Montgomery, owner and founder of S. Montgomery Admissions Consulting with its inaugural Making a Difference Award. Montgomery is one of only seven independent educational consultants (IECs) chosen from among the association's more than 2,200 members to receive the award.

She uses her platform to regularly offer free Q&A sessions and prayer calls to over 200+ law school applicants through her Facebook group and YouTube channel. "My goal is that nobody feels alone in this application process," Sydney Montgomery said. Montgomery completed the Independent Educational Consultant Certificate program offered through the University of California, Irvine, Division of Continuing Education and along with IECA, is a member of the Potomac and Chesapeake Association for College Admission Counseling (PCACAC).

The Making a Difference Awards were presented by Kristina Dooley, IECA board president, during the organization's virtual Fall Conference, which was attended by more than 650 independent educational consultants and 400 school, program and college representatives.

"Our seven awardees have stepped up to support their colleagues by sharing resources, information, and ideas that have been invaluable to their IEC practices, especially considering how rapidly the pandemic has impacted the school, college, and therapeutic landscape," said IECA CEO Mark Sklarow. The DPF systems, which are verified to the Level 3+ reduction standard by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and have been operated extensively within the refrigerated trailer fleets in California, have recently been retested after years of field use by an independent lab and found to be fully emission compliant.

The Rypos Active DPF is a filter that traps and burns soot reducing particulate matter emissions by more than 85 percent. Unlike other particulate filter technologies, the Rypos system is self-monitoring and completely autonomous ensuring that the filter is continuously clean and able to accept the full exhaust load of the engine in any operating conditions and at any time.

"This important milestone validates the systems original design premise, that it would be an end-of-life compliance solution for the Tier IV interim and less than 25 horsepower engines powering the majority of the installed base," said Peter Bransfield, RYPOS' CEO.

Mid America Mortgage Expands Access to Down Payment Assistance Program to Its Correspondent Partners

ADDISON, Texas /ScoopCloud/ -- Mid America Mortgage, Inc. (Mid America) announced it has added down payment assistance (DPA) to the slate of mortgage products and services offered through its correspondent division. This is an expansion of the DPA program Mid America created for its retail channel in 2019 in partnership with the Rosebud Economic Development Corporation.

"DPA programs are a vital tool for expanding mortgage credit access to creditworthy, cash-poor homebuyers," said Mid America Owner and CEO Jeff Bode. "Given the success Mid America has experienced amongst its retail borrowers, we felt the time was right to expand this opportunity to our correspondent customers so that they, too, could help borrowers take advantage of the market's low interest rates and begin their homeownership journey."

The program combines an FHA-insured first mortgage with a five-year second lien up to 5% of the home's purchase price. Borrowers can use the second-lien funds for their down payment and/or to cover closing costs. Interest does not accrue on the second lien, and borrowers do not need to make monthly payments on the second lien. If the borrower remains in the home and stays current on their first mortgage, the second lien is fully forgiven after five years.

"Mid America began this partnership with Rosebud a year ago to offer its direct borrowers another option to realize their dreams of homeownership. Now, by expanding this down payment assistance program to our correspondent platform, Mid America can broaden homeownership opportunities through our correspondent clients to help even more families make this dream a reality," said Julas Hollie, National Sales Director of Mid America's correspondent division.

This product will complement Mid America's current focus on buying loans not eligible for purchase by traditional investors. Lenders interested in participating in this program should contact Hollie at julas.hollie@midamericamortgage.com.

Children’s Chorus and Rap Artist Tell Maryland ‘Sing a New Song!’

BALTIMORE, Md. /ScoopCloud/ -- The Children's Chorus of Maryland and Baltimore rap artist and a Baltimore rap artist have teamed up with the racial justice podcast Trouble4Good to urge the Maryland General Assembly to change the pro-Confederate Maryland state song.

"We call on the Maryland General Assembly to finally get rid of the pro-Confederate song 'Maryland! My, Maryland' which has never reflected the values of 'The Free State,'" said rap artist and President of the Baltimore nonprofit "Rise with a Purpose" Anthony "Wordsmith" Parker. "On nine previous occasions the General Assembly has tried and failed to change the song. We feel the 10th time is going to be the charm."

Wordsmith and the nonprofit Children's Chorus of Maryland worked with the podcast "Trouble4Good" to create the video "Teach Our Kids a New Song," which urges viewers to contact their Maryland representatives.

The Maryland General Assembly convenes January 13 through April 12, 2021. The controversial song refers to Abraham Lincoln as a "despot," a "tyrant," and a "vandal" and calls a pro-slavery, pro-Confederacy 1861 attack on Union soldiers in Baltimore "patriotic."

VIDEO (YouTube): https://youtube.com/embed/-YHyV9GqlnQ

"We can't have a stage song we are ashamed to teach our children. Let's use this time as a teachable moment so we can come together and agree on a new song our children and all of us can be proud of."

The song includes voices of children from the nonprofit Children's Chorus of Maryland (CCM), whose program seeks to empower children and value diversity. In 1995, CCM was proclaimed by Governor Schaefer to be the official Children's Chorus in Maryland.

"We understand that some people want to keep the song as part of Maryland's history," said David Searby, Co-Host of Trouble4Good. "But the truth is that for too long pro-Confederate symbols like the Maryland state song have rewritten our nation's history to justify secession, violence and white supremacy. Now more than ever after the events of January 6 our country needs to unify around symbols and songs that uplift the spirit."

Trouble4Good is a podcast on racial justice and other issues inspired by the life legacy of the late John Lewis. It launches in February during Black History Month. Learn more at: https://trouble4good.com/

Knoxville eye care provider offers exclusive designer frames under the brand Optique 865

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. /ScoopCloud/ -- EyeCare Optical, a local eye care provider in East Tennessee, can now add the title of "designer" to its list of specialties thanks to the unveiling of a new line of designer eyeglass frames under the brand Optique 865. According to opticians at the practice, this new brand focuses not on only style and high-level quality but affordability as well, all while being exclusive to the practice.

A division of Drs. Campbell, Cunningham, Taylor & Haun, an established Ophthalmology practice serving East Tennesseans for over six decades, EyeCare Optical decided to branch out from its already sought-after services of providing top-rated eye care to Knoxville and East Tennessee residents by offering its very own Optique 865 line to give patients another choice in fashionable, yet affordable eyewear.

John Wolfenbarger is the Optician Supervisor at Drs. Campbell, Cunningham, Taylor & Haun and EyeCare Optical. He says this new line of high-quality metal and plastic frames provides patients with not only the durability they seek in eyewear but also with very unique, fashionable options.

"These frames are very well built, very durable," he said. "These are exclusive to us. So, people know if they select a style from us, there won't be thousands of people walking up and down Gay Street with the same frames. No one else in East Tennessee carries them."

As for the distinctive designs, Wolfenbarger highlighted an interesting fact about the man responsible for producing the Optique 865 fames for EyeCare Optical.

"He was a big part of the success at Charmant, which is a major designer frame vendor for the last 40+ years," he said. "He was their frame designer, and now he designs our frames himself. So there's a lot of experience that goes into this frame design. The frames are handmade and just incredible at a very good price."

Frames and designs were hand-selected by the doctors and the opticians at Drs. Campbell, Cunningham, Taylor & Haun and EyeCare Optical to be the finest available for their patients. Wolfenbarger emphasized that the hinges, in particular, were designed with the utmost durability and functionality in mind.

"They're good quality. To my knowledge, there hasn't been a single pair of them broken yet," Wolfenbarger added. "Great quality. They look good. I think the shapes are outstanding. And they're ours."

Wolfenbarger added that although the frames are backed by a 2-year limited warranty.

Wolfenbarger said EyeCare Optical is proud to serve the entire family's eye care needs all under one roof EyeCare Optical offers a wide range of designer frames in addition to Optique 865 in their on-site optical shops at six locations in East Tennessee, including North Knoxville (Fountain City), Hardin Valley, Oak Ridge, Farragut, Maryville, and Sevierville. For more information on Optique 865 or any of the services available at EyeCare Optical, call (865) 584-0905.

Chelsea Groton Bank and Foundation Together Gave Record $1 Million this Year

GROTON, Conn. /ScoopCloud/ -- This year, Chelsea Groton Bank and its Foundation provided more than $1 Million to non-profit organizations in our communities. The Foundation recently approved $405,820 in grants to 68 non-profit organizations from Connecticut and Rhode Island, which put the full year's giving total above the $1 Million mark for the first time ever.

Earlier this year, the Foundation swiftly responded to support emergency relief efforts as well as needs across all giving categories in the wake of the pandemic, making the unprecedented decision to double the usual amount of total funds granted in a calendar year.

Half of the Foundation's approved funding this fall went to organizations providing Health & Human Services, including immediate critical needs such as healthcare, food, clothing and shelter. A grant donation of $25,000 was provided to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital for urgent needs due to the pandemic, and grants of $15,000 each were given to Salvation Army New London for the Boys and Girls Club of New London and COVID-19 Food Pantry, Salvation Army Norwich for their emergency assistance program and St. Vincent de Paul Place for their food pantry.

The Foundation also granted $30,000 to the Garde Arts Center in New London, enabling them to receive an additional $15,000 through the CT Dept. of Economic and Community Development. In addition, the Bank gave over $80,000 in sponsorships and grants for local teachers to use in their own virtual or in-person classrooms for educational activities with students.

"Our organization's roots are in this community. We knew there was no time more important to figure out a way to help people than in this time of great need. We're fortunate to have a Foundation and a commitment to community giving that can have such a positive impact on organizations in desperate need of support," shared Michael Rauh, President and CEO of Chelsea Groton Bank, and President of the Chelsea Groton Foundation. "We are committed to doing whatever it takes to support the non-profits in our area who make the community the wonderful place it is."

"When faced with these unique times, the Chelsea Groton Foundation Board responded by temporarily adjusting guidelines in order to provide financial support to more organizations in need. Pandemic Safety Training from Academy for Hospitality Arts Helps Make Hospitality Safer Than Ever Before

NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. /ScoopCloud/ -- The Academy for Hospitality Arts (AHA) has launched COVID-19 safety training courses to help hospitality workers prepare for re-openings. Foodservice professionals can now ensure hotels and restaurants reopen and remain open safely. Even while vaccine distribution is underway, COVID-19 remains an issue for dining establishments.

The AHA has been working behind the scenes to:

* educate service industry workers on how to mitigate the spread of the virus

* train front-of-house management with the highest standards of safety, sanitation, and compliance

* make sure restaurants, hotels, and events can re-open and remain open safely

The AHA has overhauled its education to meet the most stringent health standards set by the World Health Organization (WHO), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

There are two specific programs to ensure an individual is ready to get back to work:

1 - COVID-19 Readiness Program (CRC) for wait staff and servers

2 - COVID Hospitality Compliance Officer (CHCO), for management

Both programs prepare hospitality professionals for:

* the increase in new daily protocols from cleaning and disinfecting

* the increase in protection of customers

* conflict resolution protocols

* identifying symptoms, isolation precautions, and much more

"COVID-19 safety standards have raised the bar like never before," says Michael DiPeri, President and Founder of AHA. "These programs will increase the confidence of both food service workers and the customers we serve."

The CRC and CHCO safety training mission is to reinforce a culture of safety for staff and guests and help businesses avoid costly fines.

"People are ready to get back to their families, celebrations, and life as it was before COVID. Caution and compliance will be at the forefront of everyone's mind," says Stephen Ruggieri, Director of Training & Development. "Our graduates serve as the frontline compliance officers to make sure everyone from food servers and bussers to bartenders and management are protecting customers and the safety of everyone."

Anyone interested in learning more about the AHA's COVID-19 safety training courses can register for the live training or visit the AHA website for details. Live online classes begin January 26, 2021, and will be available online and instructor-led through accredited colleges and universities as part of a partnership between Lovegevity University and the Academy for Hospitality Arts.

The Pap Corps Appoints Sally Berenzweig as Chief Executive Officer

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. /ScoopCloud/ -- The Pap Corps' Board of Directors is proud to announce that Sally Berenzweig, M.A., M.Ed, has been appointed the new CEO of the 68-year old South Florida nonprofit which raises funds for cancer research at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. Berenzweig, the co-founder and former CEO of KidSafe Foundation, will use her 14 years of nonprofit expertise to expand The Pap Corps' fundraising base, develop new partnerships, increase membership, raise awareness through social media campaigns and explore grant opportunities.

To learn more about The Pap Corps, please visit: https://www.thepapcorps.org/.

"We are very proud that Sally has joined our organization," said Susan Dinter, Chair of the Board of Directors. "The Board is confident that her extensive experience in the nonprofit realm and her passion for our mission will guide The Pap Corps to the next exciting stage in its evolution."

With nearly 22,000 members in Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties, The Pap Corps has donated more than $110 million to Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, including a historic $50 million pledge in 2016 dedicating The Pap Corps Campus at Sylvester at Deerfield Beach. The Pap Corps' donations support ground-breaking cancer research at South Florida's only NCI-Designated cancer center.

"The Pap Corps is an organization that I have a very strong connection with," said Berenzweig. "My late stepmother (bonus Mom), Bobbi Friedman, was the founder of the Woodfield Country Club chapter and helped raise funds to bring Sylvester to Deerfield Beach. My father Aaron Friedman honors Bobbi's memory annually when he donates to the Woodfield Chapter largest fundraiser the 'Bobbi Friedman Memorial Card Party.' And my mother-in-law, Sandy Berenzweig, is an active member of the Boca Pointe chapter. Through my family, I have witnessed the dedication and commitment Pap Corps members have for this cause, and it's beyond inspiring. And like so many, I have experienced the heartbreaking loss of too many people I love to cancer. The loss of family and friends fuels my determination to find a cure. For me, the Pap Corp Champions for Cancer Research mission was tailor-made for my skill-set and passion as I launch the next phase of my career."

Berenzweig is a very familiar face in the philanthropic world as she was the co-founder and former CEO of KidSafe Foundation and was recognized for her outstanding leadership as a 2019 L'Oreal Paris Women of Worth Honoree. Sally also received the distinguished Jefferson Award for Public Service. After 14 years with the organization, Berenzweig was ready for change and a new challenge. She handed the baton to her successor and began exploring opportunities in the consulting realm until she connected with The Pap Corps leadership, who recruited her to fill the position that has been vacant for several months.

In addition to her stellar nonprofit background, Berenzweig is a former Psychotherapist who has a Masters in Education and a Masters in Counseling Psychology. Sally is the co-author of a parenting book, two award-winning children's books, eLearn trainings and an 8-lesson curriculum for children that has been taught in Palm Beach and Broward County School Districts for over 10 years. Sally is also a member of the Soroptimist International.

The Pap Corps, a grassroots organization, derives its name from Dr. George Papanicolaou, a pioneer in cytopathology and early cancer detection, who introduced the world to the revolutionary 'Pap' test. A small group of women began the organization to support his efforts, and over the decades it has grown into an organization of nearly 22,000 men and women, in over 50 chapters, who raise funds to support all types of cancers.

Childhood Trauma – The Dark Secret 64% of Us Share: Compassion Prison Project with Dr. Vincent Felitti

LOS ANGELES, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- Two years ago this month, film producer Fritzi Horstman, and Compassion Prison Project founder, walked into a California maximum-security prison and sat down with the men who were serving time, hoping to bring them compassion and trauma-awareness. One of the first things she said was, "I was traumatized when I was a child - my mother emotionally and physically abused me. I was neglected and my father was an alcoholic."

Ultimately, she was entrusted with the many stories these men shared, stories of unimaginable childhood abuse and neglect. Statistically the men and women living, and working, within our prison system are amongst the most traumatized members of our society. Prisons, often places of dehumanization, solitude and hopelessness, traumatize them even more.

Two years later, Compassion Prison Project, founded by Horstman, is marking its anniversary by announcing the launch of its unprecedented new podcast, "Compassion in Action."

Compassion in Action gives listeners the unique opportunity to join Horstman and trauma experts as they shed light on ACEs: Adverse Childhood Experiences. ACEs can include childhood physical violence, sexual abuse, emotional neglect, poverty or having a family member in prison. Compassion in Action examines ACEs as they pertain to society as a whole. Topics include the impact of childhood trauma on our overall health, the root cause of addiction and the significant burden of shame. Perhaps most importantly, Compassion in Action guests share insight into healing modalities which promote self-awareness and a willingness to address our collective trauma.

Building on the momentum of the new podcast launch, special guest Dr. Vincent Felitti, MD, co-creator of the original ACE Kaiser Permanente CDC study, joins Fritzi in a new Compassion in Action episode. Dr. Felitti details the crucial importance of the ACEs study, its ramifications for the public and the vital importance of supporting healthy parenting. A graduate of John Hopkins Medical School and Founder of the Department of Preventive Medicine at Kaiser Permanente San Diego, Dr. Felitti's understanding of childhood trauma was gained over years spent analyzing data from thousands of patients.

Horstman commented, upon reaching the organization's two-year anniversary "I am thrilled to share this interview with Dr. Vincent Felitti who is the Co-Author of the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) Quiz - the most important health survey which has changed the lives of so many."

She adds, "Our work at Compassion Prison Project has just begun. We are on track to create trauma-informed prisons throughout the United States and spread our Trauma-Awareness Campaign to all men and women living in their own prisons - inside and outside."

‘Rivals any fiction story today’ – High praise for Christopher LaGrone’s ‘The Delta Tango Trilogy’ one-of-a-kind Border Patrol series from Morgan James Publishing

NEW YORK, N.Y. /ScoopCloud/ -- Clive Cussler, two months before he died, said of Layne Sheppard, protagonist in Christopher LaGrone's dynamic U.S. Border Patrol novels that comprise the new Delta Tango Trilogy from Morgan James Publishing: "His life of trials and sorrows rivals any fiction story today." Book One: "Fleeing The Past" is available now in bookstores everywhere and online.

For the story behind these books as related in the "From Tragedy To Trilogy" video, go to: https://youtu.be/SZVSLJP6sdY.

For more information about The Delta Tango Trilogy, visit https://deltatangotrilogy.com/.

Such high praise from one of the most successful adventure authors of all time is impressive - even more so considering that Cussler was commenting on debut work.

Once a Border Patrol agent himself, LaGrone draws on his own experiences as a recruit, field trainee and border agent to create what Margaret Coel, New York Times best-selling author of "Winter's Child" and more than two dozen other novels and non-fiction books, calls "a heartbreakingly honest tale of the lives that intersect and are forever changed along our bleak and dangerous southern border."

The Delta Tango Trilogy is unlike any previously published immigration-themed novel, in that it looks at border enforcement from the perspective of the line agent, beginning with the arduous training would-be agents must survive. The Trilogy captures the desperation that drives undocumented immigrants to risk their lives wandering in the desert, while also documenting the mixed emotions experienced by those who are tasked with apprehending them.

"These are important novels, not to be missed or forgotten," Margaret Coel added.

In "Fleeing The Past" LaGrone provides readers with an intimate look at the rigorous training Border Patrol recruits must complete just to advance to field trainee status, and introduces Felina Camarena Rivera, one of those so-called "Dreamers," who aspires to become a doctor-if only she can become a U.S. citizen. As Sheppard strives to overcome his own checkered past by becoming a border agent, he falls in love with the very type of person he is training to apprehend.

Succeeding books follow Sheppard through the dangers, boredom and contradictions of field work and the intrigue of Patrol politics, as well as what Clive Cussler termed the "personal problems and challenges" that revolve around his conflicted relationship with Felina, who desperately pursues her dream.

Book 2: "Felina's Spell," and Book 3: "Moments of Truth" will be released at intervals later in 2021.

Gund Gallery Presents ‘The Art of Trees,’ an Exhibition Inviting New Dialogue about Our Relationship to Our Environment

GAMBIER, Ohio /ScoopCloud/ -- The Gund Gallery at Kenyon College is pleased to announce "The Art of Trees," an exhibition on view at the Gund from January 22 - April 11, 2021.

"The Art of Trees" reveals the many resonances, forms, and relationships of trees. Exploring themes of restoration and destruction, community and isolation, location and identity, and fragile temporalities, the 14 artists featured in the exhibition experiment with a range of mediums from painting to digital video, and even use trees as creative collaborators to express our essential and inseparable bond with these guardians of the earth.

"The Art of Trees" invites an interdisciplinary dialogue about personal, local, and global relationships to the environment, while simultaneously drawing attention to interactions between trees themselves, the communities they form, and their resilience despite human interference.

"The sense of community that trees uniquely inspire came to life through the collaborative curatorial endeavor of Gund Associates, Gallery and College staff, and Kenyon faculty," says Dr. Jodi Kovach, curator of academic programs at the Gund Gallery and an important participant in the development of the exhibition. She continues, "By leveraging one another's experiences with nature, modes of aesthetic appreciation, and perspectives on the environmental crisis, they have realized an exhibition that shows us how art can transform our ways of living with and in the natural world."

The participating Gund Associates add, "We hope that this exhibition provokes discussion about the environment and invites a heightened collective consciousness about the intersection of community and place, near and far."

In addition, the Gund Gallery is pleased to present "Nearby Voices." This special section of "The Art of Trees" exhibition offers artistic reflections on the local landscape as a shared point of witness and imagines trees as archives of commonly held stories and experiences that branch across generations of a community. "Nearby Voices" bridges the gap between global and local environmental concerns by engaging with the art and voices of community members. It will also include the work of 2020-21 artist-in-residence Brian Harnetty, an interdisciplinary, socially and environmentally engaged artist who is working collaboratively with community members to create a "sonic map" of Gambier and surrounding Knox County.

"The Art of Trees" is curated by a committee of Gund Associates, Kenyon faculty, and Gund Gallery staff who worked together in a collaborative, multi-year process to bring this project to life.
