Making Sure Kids Get Healthy Food Even When School Is Virtual

TUKWILA, Wash. /ScoopCloud/ -- InnovAsian, a national supplier of Asian frozen food products, announced today a new philanthropic effort that will deliver healthy, tasty meals to students and the broader community though Seattle Public Schools (SPS) distribution sites. Because of the pandemic, schools are teaching remotely, and food insecurity is increasing.

At the same time, more people are buying frozen food to cook at home. The combination of increased need and increased ability to help has resulted in InnovAsian stepping up to pledge food equivalent to 5,000 meals.

This donation will be delivered in partnership with two other Seattle-area organizations: FareStart, a non-profit feeding and food service training program and Gourmondo, a local catering company. InnovAsian will supply the food for operations, FareStart and Gourmondo will provide their chefs, labor and delivery infrastructure to ensure the meals meet nutritional guidelines, are delicious, and get delivered to the 26 SPS food distribution sites set up during the pandemic.

"InnovAsian is fortunate to see our frozen sales rise as consumers are shifting more food dollars to grocery stores as families are staying home. It is important to us to pay it forward and help connect families to meals in our local community who are in dire need of food resources during this pandemic," said Debbie Curdy, vice president of marketing and innovation.

"We are incredibly grateful for InnovAsian's support of FareStart emergency meals," said Matt Gurney, vice president of enterprise development. "Due to COVID-19, food insecurity remains a huge challenge in our community - especially for youth and their families. Through this partnership, we'll be able to provide thousands of nutritious, reheatable dinners for people in need."

"This partnership with InnovAsian and FareStart is extremely important to Gourmondo- it is inspiring to work with both non-profit organizations and other food suppliers to support our community in a time when the need has never been greater. I am proud and grateful to work with both these organizations, to be able to do what we love and help provide meals to those who need them most," said Alissa Leinonen, CEO and founder.

Three brands each bring unique skills and assets to meet growing need

With food insecurity on the rise and reaching historical high levels around the state, emergency food services such as food banks and meal programs like this are more urgent than ever before. The expectation is that the crisis will continue for months to come and according to No Kid Hungry one in four children in the United States could face hunger this year because of the coronavirus.

The three local brands coming together to create this partnership all have a legacy of charitable giving; Earlier this year, InnovAsian raised and matched funds to support Meals on Wheels for a total of $30,000; Gourmondo has a robust, multi-faceted give back program which includes supplying over 200,000 meals since the beginning of the pandemic to our most vulnerable populations, and has previously partnered with FareStart in the SPS program. FareStart has now served more than 1.1 million emergency meals since their COVID-19 response efforts began in March. Amazon has been a consistent collaborator throughout the pandemic with both Gourmondo and FareStart and is partnering here to further provide financial support for the labor.

The skills each brings to this partnership reflect each organization's strengths: FareStart has the relationship with SPS, skilled chefs to design menus that meet children and family nutritional needs, and a cadre of volunteers who help with distribution. Gourmondo is providing their talented chefs, cooking, expansive kitchen space, packaging, and delivery labor. And InnovAsian is donating generous quantities of their easy-to prepare frozen Asian food as the main ingredient to make this all possible.

Food will be delivered every Wednesday for four weeks starting September 23, 2020 to SPS for families and children to pick up at the distribution centers. Anyone in need is eligible to pick up meals.

New Novel Attacks Trump on Climate Crisis

LOS ANGELES, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- In the newly released novel, "Snowflake" (ISBN: 978-1734093506) Arthur Jeon cranks up the climate change alarms while indicting the Trump administration for their environmental destruction. The result is a cli-fi thriller that's a blistering contribution to "contemporary historical fiction," the emerging genre that tackles current issues through fictional characters.

In addition to presidential assassination, "Snowflake" swims through many of America's murky cultural waters, including gun violence, factory farming, social media hate, mental health, and a #metoo subplot.

Ironically, Arthur Jeon's previous books, published by Random House, are nonfiction works that teach ancient mindfulness practices to cope with modern stress. But to tackle the crushing topic of rapid global warming, the writer turned to fiction.

"Many of us feel we are in an existential crisis right now. I wanted to speak to readers at that depth, which is only reached through emotion and story," says Jeon. "If you invest people in the character, then you can sneak in the latest climate science. I hope it appeals both to lovers of fiction and nonfiction."

According to Publishers Weekly Booklife, "the troubled, passionate young protagonist's voice is alluring and immediate." Ben, 18, is an animal lover who's alienated by social media and obsessed with science. After two near-tragedies, the scholarship student starts compiling doomsday headlines in his journal - the entire novel is snappy journal entries - and becomes enraged at the president who's accelerating the crisis. With each global warming disaster, Ben realizes the very survival of his generation is at stake. So, the "apocalyptic Holden Caulfield," as one reviewer calls him, decides on a desperate act of environmental activism, one that explores what it means to be a good American versus a global citizen: he will assassinate the climate-denying POTUS. Ben's journey stress-tests the line between morality and madness. And the novel pushes boundaries.

When asked if he's concerned about publicly excoriating the sitting president, Jeon quoted Ron Charles in his recent article in the Washington Post: "Fictional characters can no more defame a real-life person than they can murder one."

"In 'Snowflake,' that real-life person is Donald Trump," continues Jeon. "And Trump's attacks on our environment that Ben cites are real - you can fact-check them all. It's what compels my fictional character to want to kill the president who every day sells off our natural inheritance."

"Snowflake" is a provocative manifesto for our precarious moment, as one species goes extinct every twenty minutes and seven million people will die from air pollution this year (just two terrifying facts from the book). For those who feel like its young protagonist, angry and helpless as we blow past irreversible tipping points, the novel is an urgent battle cry - if not to take up arms, then to vote.

Arthur Jeon is the author of two nonfiction books published by Random House - "City Dharma: Keeping Your Cool in the Chaos" and "Sex, Love & Dharma: Finding Love Without Losing Your Way." Both books apply mindfulness to the stresses of modern life and love. Snowflake is his debut novel, using fiction to communicate climate fact.

SANTA FE, N.M. /ScoopCloud/ -- Eloquent Light Editions announces a new photography book by award-winning photographer Craig Varjabedian, "The Light of Days Gone By," which was 45 years in the making. It celebrates with stunning imagery the journey of a photographer and the beautiful light he has witnessed and captured along the way. This beautiful hardcover book retails for $34.95 and is available from the photographer's website Studio Shoppe or Amazon.com.

"The Light of Days Gone By" is a testament to Varjabedian's vision and many years of hard work and will appeal to anyone who appreciates fine photography. Varjabedian's photographs from the magnificent red hills of Ghost Ranch and gleaming white dunes of White Sands to more faraway places - from strong Native Americans to weathered cowboys and more - these expansive landscapes and intimate portraits are all presented in this beautifully printed book.

The 48 color and black & white photographs were carefully curated by Varjabedian's long time studio director Cindy Lane, to not only share the breadth of this photographer's career but also to reveal relationships between individual images and from the themes he has explored over the years.

"Working as a photographer has given me the opportunity to constantly be learning something from my experiences behind the camera. For me it's more than just about making pretty pictures-that's nice certainly - but it's more about having the opportunity to observe, to be a witness to the quintessential beauty of it all," says Craig Varjabedian.

"The Light of Days Gone By" includes two essays. In "Past Light in this Present Time," Cindy Lane writes about working and collaborating together for 30 years with the artist and observes that the authenticity of these photographs frequently evokes powerful emotions in the viewer. And in "On the Power of Memory and Trees," artist Myra Bullington looks not only at the importance of photographs as an aid to memory but also shares an appreciation gained from many years of being a creative observer and thoughtful commentator on the photographer's work.

"The Light of Days Gone By" is also being presented as a 3D virtual exhibition by Converge Las Cruces Fine Art. View this beautiful interactive showcase here: https://www.convergelascruces.com/craig-varjabedian-the-light-of-days-gone-by

"Craig Varjabedian's photography captures, with arresting clarity, the ineffable whispers of time and spirit layered deep in New Mexico's cultural landscape. Through the artful combination of his compassionate eye and technical virtuosity, he evokes the past in the present and the holy in the everyday," says Catherine Whitney, Museum Curator.

ACES Quality Management Q1 2020 Mortgage QC Trends Report: EPDs Rising, Critical Defect Rate Hits Three-Year Low

DENVER, Colo. /ScoopCloud/ -- ACES Quality Management (ACES), formerly known as ARMCO and the leading provider of enterprise quality management and control software for the financial services industry, announced the release of the quarterly ACES Mortgage QC Trends Report. The latest report, which provides nationwide loan quality findings based on data derived from ACES Quality Management and Control Software(TM), covers the first quarter (Q1) of 2020.

Noteworthy findings include:
* Overall critical defect rate of 1.56% matched the lowest rate in three years;
* Defects attributed to the credit and income categories rebounded after climbing higher in Q4 2019;
* Increases in the share of refinances (5%) and conventional loans (2%) contributed to the improvement in the overall defect rate; and
* Early Payment Defaults are on the rise.

"The combination of falling interest rates, employment numbers not yet impacted by COVID-19, and steady property appreciation all contributed to increases in the share of both refinances and conventional loans, which in turn drove the continued decrease in the overall critical defect rate observed in Q1 2020," said ACES Executive Vice President Nick Volpe. "However, the last few weeks of the quarter encompassed the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, and given the economic impact of the pandemic on consumers, the number of early payment defaults increased, as one would expect."

"ACES is monitoring this area closely, and the early Q2 data shows the number of EPDs reviewed by lenders through ACES is 75% higher than the average monthly rate of EPD reviews for 2019. Because an EPD review is triggered only when borrowers fall three or more payments behind, this indicates the industry is still in the early stages of the problem, and there is a high likelihood that the number of EPDs will continue to increase," Volpe added.

The Q1 2020 ACES Mortgage QC Industry Trends Report is drawn from nationwide post-closing quality control loan data from over 90,000 unique loans selected for random full-file reviews, as was captured by the company's ACES Quality Management and Control benchmarking system. Defects listed in the report are categorized using the Fannie Mae loan defect taxonomy.

"Amid the chaos and uncertainty driven by COVID-19, data provides a clear path forward for lenders. While the industry's focus has been on managing the near-historic volumes, Q1 loan defect data also indicates that lenders must also turn their attention to the growing problem of EPDs, as this represents a significant operation and financial risk to their organizations," said ACES CEO Trevor Gauthier. "The power of ACES benchmarking functionality is that it allows lenders to utilize their current QC data to see what may lie ahead and respond accordingly to maintain loan quality and manage risk. This kind of trend forecasting can be a powerful tool in lenders' arsenals especially with so much uncertainty remaining at a macroeconomic level."

Mortgage QC Industry Trends Reports are available for download, free of charge, at https://www.acesquality.com/resources/reports.

Saving Lost Kids Celebrates Winning Board Approval to Develop the Largest Care facility in the U.S. for Children Rescued from Trafficking

MEMPHIS, Tenn. /ScoopCloud/ -- Tennessee-based Pastor Brian Callies is the Founder, President, and CEO of the nonprofit "Brian Callies Foundation" as well as head of "Saving Lost Kids." Over the last four years these organizations have built a remarkable reputation for being a powerful force boldly addressing the issues of missing, exploited, and trafficked children in effective ways.

These include helping with education, raising community awareness to these dangers, and taking smart measure to drastically reduce the number of children who fall victim to exploitation. "Saving Lost Kids" recently announced the exciting news that it has received board approval and begun its first steps in developing, what it hopes to be, the largest, most impactful restorative care facility in the U.S. for children facing these dire concerns. The enthusiasm surrounding this new aspect of their project is high and rising.

"Everyone can be a part of the solution to missing, exploited, and trafficked children," commented Callies. "Individually, we all can do a small good. But when we come together - then we can do something truly great."

According to "Saving Lost Kids," its team is working hard bringing together individual, corporate, government, and non-profit efforts and support for the project to bring the facility to life. So far, there are already over 25 companies agreeing to support the project, plus two government agencies, and plans to meet with TN Governor Lee's Office for endorsement.

The location is still being considered with a number of choices in West Tennessee being looked at. Plans are for a 75-100 acre, 18 building, facility, with all services on-site. Ten homes will be open in the first phase and another 10 homes in the second phase. Each home supports five girls, who have their own bedroom and bath, and a full-time house mother. "Saving Lost Kids" and its partners will provide a wrap-around circle of care for the spiritual, physical, physiological, medical, educational and social health of the children. An onsite church, school, medical facility, recreation building, equine therapy, and art therapy facility are all planned for its early stages, covering the essential needs of all the kids who will be getting help from the program.

Callies points out this an opportunity for all aspects of the community to show support for a project that will radically change their lives for the better, "We are inviting every person, company, and organization to become a part of this enormous important effort by pledging to do just 'one thing'. For example, you can sign up for a monthly donation, provide for one construction item, or become a connector to build the support network, etc. By combining all of our 'one things' together, we can create something truly beautiful."

The community continues to be very supportive of "Saving Lost Kids."

A recent supporter remarked on Facebook in a five-star review, "This is a great organization for helping find lost children. Thank you so much for the work you do through your awesome Foundation! You are making a difference!"

Pandemic Stress Can Change Eyesight and Impact Eye Health

DENVER, Colo. /ScoopCloud/ -- Doctors of optometry across Colorado, 2020 Eyes Colorado, and the Colorado Optometric Association (COA) have launched a September awareness initiative to help educate Coloradans on the impact of stress on eyesight and eye health.

"The long-term stress individuals and families are experiencing this year has the potential to impact eye health in a range of ways from mild eye discomfort to vision loss. This is a health issue that is preventable and most related symptoms can be managed at home. If symptoms linger or impact your quality of life, we do recommend an optometric eye exam," says Sheryl Benjamin, COA Executive Director.

Everyone has experienced that familiar moment in a challenging situation when stress takes over the body. This is called fight, flight or freeze and it's where the body moves into protection mode. Initially, the heart may pump faster as adrenaline moves through the body, breathing becomes shallow, and pupils dilate enhancing the ability to see danger. The body is preparing for a physical threat even if the stress is from a non-physical threat like a difficult project at work or a conflict with a friend.

The individual may experience a range of stress from mild stress to high stress. The eyes also experience a range of impact due to stress from mild discomfort to debilitating vision loss.

Symptoms of Stress Impacting Vision Health:
* Tunnel vision - Loss of visual acuity in the peripheral vision. The person feels like they can only see in front of themselves.
* Light sensitivity - An intolerance to light. The person feels like they have to close their eyes when experiencing light and they feel discomfort.
* Eye twitching - Random spasms around the lid of one or both eyes.
* Very dry or very wet eyes - Both of these can be cause by stress depending on the body's response.
* Blurry vision - This is usually mild when caused by stress.
* Eye strain - Fatigue of the eyes may be caused by stress, but can also be caused by too much screen time.
* Vision Loss - The stress hormone cortisol can damage the eye and the brain. Stress is also linked to causing diseases that can lead to vision loss including glaucoma.

It's more likely that the eye's response to stress will be minor, but if any of these symptoms are impacting your quality of life or the symptoms persist contact your optometrist immediately.

Ideas to Lower Stress & Relax Your Eyes
* Reduce your screen time for a few days to reduce eye strain and give eye muscles a break.
* During screen time use the 20-20-20 Rule. Every 20 minutes look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds.
* Participate in a daily meditation.
* Exercise daily.
* Walk outside if possible.
* Eat a healthy diet.
* Get good sleep.
* Join an online social group.
* Consider weekly mental health therapy.
* Connect with your doctor about potential medication if stress and anxiety remain unmanageable.

Outdoor Movement Series Launches in Mequon, Wisconsin Sept. 20

MILWAUKEE, Wis. /ScoopCloud/ -- A pine forest in the heart of a nature preserve in Mequon, Wisconsin will be the site of the first of three conscious dance movement sessions, "The Wisdom of Your Body" series. It is offered by Carrie Branovan, the Milwaukee-born artist-educator who founded "Dance Your Prayers."

"We all remember the joy of dancing like no one is watching," said Branovan. "This 'Wisdom of Your Body' series inspires us to spread our wings and try something new!"

Designed to meet strict social distancing guidelines, the series allows each participant to enjoy abundant space to move. Each session features a 60-minute playlist of organic world beats curated by Branovan and followed by a cool-down, meditation period, and an art project.

Music is listened to using "silent disco technology." This enables participants to dance up to 100 feet from the central DJ table. The event is open to all cultural backgrounds, genders, ages (18+), races, and physical condition regardless of dance experience. If you can move, you can dance.

"Dancing in nature with the trees, wildlife, flowers and sky is a connection that helps us learn how to manage uncertainty of these extraordinary times," said Branovan.

"After conscious-dancing in innovative cities like London, Dublin and the Bay Area in California for more than a decade, I look forward to bringing this healthy practice to my birthplace, Milwaukee."

Branovan notes that "The Wisdom of Your Body" series helps participants learn new ways to enjoy freedom of movement while getting a break from the media and the digital world to be with nature. Participants stretch, dance, play, jump, bend and rest at their own pace.

"The Wisdom of the Body" series meets 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 20 and 27 and October 4, 2020. Exact location is provided after registration. The suggested donation is $5-$20 per session with proceeds going to Ozaukee Washington Land Trust.

Core Catalysts Announces Partnership to Launch New Service of Solving Cloud Sprawl

KANSAS CITY, Mo. /ScoopCloud/ -- Consulting firms Core Catalysts and Smart Factory have announced a new partnership. In response to a significant increase in demand by their Healthcare, Finance, Insurance, and Manufacturing clients, the two companies have teamed up to create a new line of service targeted at solving cloud sprawl. Cloud sprawl can lead to unnecessary spending, inefficient resource controls, and inadequate security and compliance within an organization, and many businesses become subject to cloud sprawl due to a lack of visibility and management of their cloud services.

Numerous companies today are shifting their focus to the cloud and using platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure. These platforms often add unexpected complexity to already overworked technology departments.

"Our clients have seen an alarming increase in computer storage costs and security risks, and they often times require more specialized people to manage configurations and approvals," said Jim Wadella, Managing Member of Core Catalysts.

Cloud platforms often offer "quick fixes" that fail to address underlying issues, and the result is more spend for software enhancements and a growing lack of visibility over time. This makes it difficult for an organization to control cloud costs, resources, and security and compliance, which all contribute directly to the success and direction of a company.

"This new offering is in direct response to an issue we've seen across all of our clients," said Doug Richards, CEO of Smart Factory. "The add-to-cart functionality of the AWS and Azure consoles makes it too easy for IT staff to subscribe to products that start off at pennies but can quickly spiral into thousands of dollars a month."

With Core Catalysts and Smart Factory's new partnership, they commit to solving companies' cloud sprawl. Whether it is a one-time diagnostic or ongoing cloud management, their services deliver easy-to-understand, proven, diagnostic data and processes to reestablish control. Their user-friendly platform makes onboarding easy to quickly gain relevant insights for effective decision-making and continuous improvement to cloud management. As a result, organizations can expect full visibility, immediate financial impacts, and leading practices for security and compliance.

Thousands of Scholars Driving Innovation to be Recognized During 11th National Postdoc Appreciation Week

ROCKVILLE, Md. /ScoopCloud/ -- The National Postdoctoral Association (NPA) announced the 11th annual National Postdoc Appreciation Week (NPAW) will take place September 21 - 25, 2020. NPAW is the nation's largest celebration of postdoctoral scholars who serve at more than 300 institutions, acknowledging the significant contributions these "postdocs" make to U.S. research and discovery. This year, due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, the first virtual NPAW will allow universities to open events to postdocs from other institutions across the country.

"NPAW is a well-earned celebration of the inspiration and perspiration of the tens of thousands of postdocs working to advance early-stage research across thousands of topical areas from finding a vaccine for COVID-19 to reimagining more diverse, equitable and inclusive learning environments," said Tom Kimbis, NPA executive director and CEO. "Postdocs help drive American leadership and competitiveness across all aspects of our lives."

Postdocs are individuals holding doctoral degrees engaged in a temporary period of mentored research or scholarly training to gain needed skills to excel in their careers. These scholars conduct a large share of critical, cutting-edge research across all disciplines at universities, research institutions and industry members across the U.S.

NPAW boosts awareness of the critical work of the estimated 80,000 postdocs in the United States. In 2019, 556 events were held by 121 organizations, spanning 35 states and 98 cities. In recent years, NPAW expanded to Canada, the United Kingdom, and Germany. Popular events during NPAW include professional and career development workshops, networking activities, and social events celebrating the immense contribution of postdocs to our nation's thought leadership.

This year's celebration includes a keynote featuring John Beacom, Ph.D., Henry L. Cox professor of physics and astronomy at the Ohio State University, and Christine Pfund, Ph.D., senior scientist with the Wisconsin Center for Education Research at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, discussing best practices for mentorship, as well as national webinars hosted by key NPA partners -- a National Research Mentoring Network event focused on diversity in mentoring and a Postdoc Academy opportunity to hone leadership skills.

During NPAW, the NPA is also debuting NPA Communities, an online member engagement platform designed to share best practices, encourage communal solutions to common problems facing the greater postdoc community, and assist scholars in advancing their careers. All NPA member institutions are welcome to join the new network. A calendar of NPAW events can be found at http://www.nationalpostdoc.org/2020NPAW. NPAW is made possible by Distinguished Sponsor, Gallagher Insurance, and NPAW 2020 Lead Sponsor, Proteintech.

The week-long celebration sponsored by the NPA grew out of National Postdoc Appreciation Day in 2009 followed by formal recognition of NPAW by the U.S. House of Representatives on September 24, 2010.

About National Postdoctoral Association:

The NPA is a charitable and educational non-profit association headquartered in Rockville, Maryland, that seeks to improve the postdoctoral experience by supporting a culture of enhanced professional growth. At the individual, organizational, and national levels, the NPA facilitates connections, raises awareness, and collaborates with stakeholders in the postdoctoral community. Membership in the NPA is open to all organizations and individuals interested in advancing the interests of postdocs in the U.S.

Affiliate membership in the NPA for most postdocs is free and available at https://www.nationalpostdoc.org/.

DISA Awards By Light Team $198.9M Cloud-Based Internet Isolation Production OTA

MCLEAN, Va. /ScoopCloud/ -- By Light Professional IT Services LLC has been awarded a $198.9M, 5-year production Other Transaction Agreement (OTA) by the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) for the Cloud-Based Internet Isolation (CBII) Program. By Light as the prime contractor for this OTA, with teammate Menlo Security, Inc., are together delivering this next-generation Isolation Platform to protect Department of Defense (DoD) networks worldwide.

Beginning in March 2019, By Light and Menlo worked closely with the DISA CBII Program Management Office (PMO) to design and implement the CBII prototype capability which eliminates most web-based threats such as drive-by-downloads. This technology removes the browsing process from the desktop and moves it to the cloud, effectively creating an "air gap" between the internet and enterprise networks. The successful implementation of this effort will directly enhance military and civilian personnel's ability to defend the DoD Information Network (DODIN).

According to Bob Donahue, By Light CEO, "This win culminates more than 18 months of working closely with Menlo, DISA, and its Mission Partners to shape the commercial application of Menlo's Global Cloud Secure Web Gateway (SWG) to improve DoD's information security posture for those entities conducting business across the Internet. Our CBII solution improves the security posture of the network, will scale to meet DoD needs, is easy to deploy and manage, and optimizes and reduces bandwidth - thereby extending the life of the network."

"This isolation technology allows enterprises to separate their network from the public web while providing users seamless access to the internet with a native browser experience," says Joe Boyd, By Light VP and CBII Program Manager. "Within the cloud native architecture, all components scale horizontally. You couple this with global availability, anytime/anywhere access, always-on cloud with failover between regions, instant on-boarding of users, 24x7x365 operations support, and what you get is an enterprise-class cybersecurity capability virtually eliminating internet browsing threats traversing the Internet Access Points (IAPs) while also optimizing and reducing bandwidth utilization."

"We're truly humbled to partner with By Light on this groundbreaking program with DISA," said Poornima DeBolle, Chief Product Officer, Menlo Security. "Our partnership with the By Light team and the CBII Program Management Office (PMO) is a true testament to the value of the Menlo Security 'Isolation Core' architecture to deliver on their security and scalability needs to help defend the users of the DoD Information Network (DODIN)."

From Murderers to Ministers

TRENTON, N.J. /ScoopCloud/ -- Ministers II Society is a Community Activist organization and Music group, that was formed by inmates in a maximum security prison. Their Name creates a certain culture lure, as does their unified goal of transforming themselves from "Murderers to Ministers."

Its founding members are all serving time for unrelated, violent offenses. James Comer. "King James," Shakeil Price "HYMN," Tyrell Jackson "Tye Jack" are not just glued to a bond that focuses on uplifting the youth around the nation, but they are maintaining this bond as wards of the notorious New Jersey State Prison.

When asked about the venture, Tye Jack stated, "We felt, as the evidence shows, that parents of black and brown children have been crippled by unemployment at a disproportionate rate during this current pandemic; actually, even before Covid-19 struck." He focused on the rapid approach of the new school year, and the CDC's uncertain guidelines about when and how schools should reopen for the kids.

Ministers II Society, in partnership with Sha Bandzz Ent., was able to assist several dozen families in Perth Amboy, Edison & Newark, New Jersey, by donating packages of back-to-school supplies. The packages contain anything from, Backpacks; Refurbished laptops; note pads; pencils; hand sanitizers; alcohol pads; and of course, face masks.

Ministers II Society confounder HYMN is serving a life sentence for his role in a 2008 m. We reached out to Sha Bandzz for comment about his connection to the convicted felon. We also asked him about the overwhelming importance to give back to the youth of his community.

Sha Bandzz stated, "'HYMN' is on the inside, and he's gonna be until the creator or the right people say otherwise. But, even from behind the wall, he's showing people that the 'street life' ain't what it's cracked up to be. The effort that the Ministers II Society is putting forth is as noble as it gets. HYMN, specifically, has been inspiring me for as long as I can remember. Look around, look at what I've accomplished... all of it is because of what he's given back to me. People know him as Shakeil or SHAK' 'HYMN,' but I just know him as dad."

Sha Bandzz Further said, "Everybody gives something back to their communities in their own way, but what they're giving isn't always good. The Ministers II Society are not only showing me how to give back, but they're also showing the importance of why I should give back. And there is no better place to start than to make sure that all children, including the ones that look like me, have the tools they need to stay in school."

The three co-founders faced initial criticism when asked if they forum was just a means for them to possibly regain their freedom.

"Besides the wrongfully convicted, only a desperately dumb person comes to prison," stated cofounder James Comer, "and only a dumber person wants to stay in prison. Of course, we look at this as a means to better our 'incarceration situation.' However, we've accepted our former roles as criminals along with the punishment that came with it. But now it's time to accept our new roles as self-appointed ministers."

HYMN felt compelled to say, "If these bars and walls remain all there is to our lives, then so be it..at least we did something for young people that will help them avoid coming to places like New Jersey State Prison. Can you imagine if the bars and walls were removed?"

For full interviews with the Ministers II Society, visit: https://ministersiisociety.com -- his website serves as the hub where items in support of the activist/ Music group can be purchased. Portions of the proceeds are immediately directed towards their philanthropic work. The Group also accepts donations and is looking for sponsors to assists with their humanitarian endeavors.

To support the movement, hear the latest music or read and engage in their blog of hot topics, log on to https://ministersiisociety.com today.

"The energy we're putting out," Tye Jack says, "is the same energy we need from people in the free world. We changed our perception so the free world could change their perception of us..."

Fort Collins Mayor Wayne Troxell declares September 16, 2020 Holocaust Survivor ‘Joe Rubinstein Day’

FORT COLLINS, Colo. /ScoopCloud/ -- Author Nancy Sprowell Geise announces that on Sunday, September 14, 2020, Mayor Troxell presented Holocaust survivor with the honor in recognition of Joe's 100th birthday. Joe said, "I am so honored and grateful that I'm still alive to celebrate 100 years. I can't believe it. I love life and I love people."

Shortly before dawn on a frigid morning in Radom, Poland, German soldiers forced twenty-one-year-old Icek "Joe" Rubinsztejn onto a crowded, open-air truck. The next day, several around him were dead. From there, things got worse for young Joe-much worse.

Joe arrived at Auschwitz/Birkenau on April 30, 1942, and was imprisoned there for over two years before being taken to several other notorious camps, including Buchenwald, Ohrdruf, and Theresienstadt. Throughout his ordeal, surprising and remarkable events occurred to save his life.

Barefooted when he was seized, Joe would become one of New York's leading shoe designers for legendary companies Herbert Levine, Inc., Nina Shoe, and others. Beth Levine called Joe, "The Man with the Golden Hands." Joe designed some of the most expensive and sought-after shoes in the world. Shoes designed by Herbert Levine, Inc. were worn by first ladies and movie stars alike. While the Nazis took everything else, they were unable to take Joe's love of life and his love of people.

Joe, who is Jewish, met Irene, who is Catholic, in Germany after the war. They married in 1947 and later this month will celebrate 73 of marriage. They lived in New York for over 30 years before moving to California, and then to Colorado in 2007.

When Joe was taken from his family, he had no idea he would never again see anyone he knew or loved. His widowed mother and four siblings, including Joe's identical twin, were believed murdered at the Treblinka death camp along with over 33,000 others from the Radom Ghettos.

Despite having lost nearly everything a person can lose, Joe found a way to live a joy-filled life. He says, "No matter what, we have to love each other."

For over 60 years, Joe never told anyone his story because he did not believe anything good could come from doing so.

Now, nearly every week Joe receives letters from people all over the world who have read about him in the book, "Auschwitz #34207 - The Joe Rubinstein Story" (ISBN: 978-1939919120) by author Nancy Sprowell Geise.

People tell Joe that if he found a way to live joyfully after all the loss and trauma he experienced, then they know they can face their challenges. Joe's life is an inspiration for us all and an example of how to thrive, despite the most difficult of situations.

Fall Trends to Transition into Winter

LAS VEGAS, Nev. /ScoopCloud/ -- Jewelry lovers, the American Gem Society has a message for you: this is your season. This fall, some of the most stand-out fine jewelry you will see comes from members of the American Gem Society, a community of jewelry professionals dedicated to protecting the jewelry-buying public through a high standard of ethics and ongoing education.

According to Katherine Bodoh, CEO of the American Gem Society and AGS Laboratories, these five fine jewelry trends will provide the added detail you need this season to complete your ensemble. These pieces are also instant classics that can easily transition to winter, spring, and beyond. Be Zoom ready with any of these trends.

Medallions: this summer favorite is not slowing down. You can wear medallions alone or layer them or go bold and dazzle with medallion earrings and bracelets. Medallions stun in gold, but silver tones also make an unforgettable impression.

Restored Jewelry: do you need a jewelry makeover? Your local American Gem Society jeweler can work wonders on heirloom jewelry. Diamonds and gemstones can be removed from a ring or any piece of outdated or worn/well-loved jewelry and transferred to a modern piece of wearable art for your ears, neck, wrist, or fingers. If you can think it, they can most likely create it. A number of AGS designers also update older pieces by using recycled diamonds, other precious gemstones, charms, and much more to create contemporary designs.

Big Links, Long Chains: an extra-long chain is sophisticated and helps complete a look, especially one with higher necklines. Plus, let's face it: it also means no fiddling with a finicky clasp. This fall's styles feature big links for a bold statement, an homage to eighties jewelry. Slip it over your head, wear some diamond stud earrings, add a classic watch, and you are good to go. Or go short: choker-style chain necklaces in a high-polished metal provides an edgy yet glamorous look.

Pearls: the popularity of this organic gem endures. Staying with the big links trend, pair a chunky link with a drop pearl and you have a showstopper. Or, layer long strands of pearls with a couple of silver or gold link necklaces for a style that says there is nothing wrong with a wrist party!

Bright Colors. If you are a fan of seventies jewelry, the jewelry gods have smiled upon you. This season, think jewelry painted in enamel or treated in bright hues of red, blue, green, and yellow. Brighten up a dark outfit or enliven your mood on a rainy autumn day. If you plan to invest in one accessory this year...this is it!

Hoppon Announces Launch of Hyperlocal Small Business Platform

CHICAGO, Ill. /ScoopCloud/ -- Hoppon announces a newly launched hyperlocal app and online grocery and food marketplace for shopping online. With the era of COVID, many shoppers are having trouble getting groceries, for example. Using an online marketplace for the Chicagoland area, shoppers can discover new shops and order it for pickup or delivery. The online grocery platform for Chicago provides a necessary service for vendors to list their shops and attract new customers.

Hoppon is looking for new vendors to join the platform. Vendors can sign up for free and list their shop and products to provide pickup or delivery through December 31, 2020.

"Hoppon is committed to helping small businesses during these difficult times. We are also entrepreneurs and understand better than anyone that we must help each other through this period. And we are here to help," said CEO of Hoppon, Shekar Dhandapani.

Recent data released in a GeekWire article reported in March 2020 42 percent of consumers got their groceries online. The data compared to 22 percent in the same 2018 time period. Over 50 percent of those surveyed by GeekWire saw the current pandemic "permanently boosting their willingness to buy groceries online."

Shopping online and utilizing apps had become the most popular way to shop due to convenience. COVID-19 has sparked a trend in online shopping. Consumers who buy their shoes and cars online realize they don't have the time or want to take the time to hit the grocery store. Customers at a physical disadvantage, such as the elderly or handicapped, see the safety in grocery delivery.

Chicagoland grocery stores, restaurants, deli, and other specialty food owners intent on staying in line with the growing trend can list their shop with Hoppon for online shopping. Adding an eCommerce option to a local store is particularly critical to smaller businesses that hope to remain competitive. Shifting operations to accommodate consumer demand will be vital to survival in the market long after the coronavirus is in our rearview.

Hoppon connects businesses, buyers, and consumers with merchants and vendors. It allows for convenient shopping and interaction between vendors and customers. Shops can list their shop and inventory for online shopping. Our platform ensures safe transactions and allows vendors to provide pickup or delivery to the nearby area.

Online marketplaces like Hoppon are a connection that provides a high level of service to consumers and businesses. From finding products to paying for them to getting deliveries, everyone benefits from a smooth, responsible service.

Small or independent grocers, craft food purveyors, specialty food services, and other food merchants in Chicago shouldn't assume they can't compete with their larger competitors. Signing on with Hoppon, a company that focuses on smaller businesses, can make a deli, restaurant, or bakery as accessible as a major chain.

"We also make it easy for vendors to get started," said Dhandapani. "Hoppon connects consumers with small or independent grocers, specialty food stores, craft food purveyors, and other quality food merchants in the Chicago, Illinois area. Grocers can sign up with Hoppon and select easily upload their available inventory through a CSV file or send the information to us, and we add it. Delis, bakeries, and even specialty food markets are using the platform to make shopping more accessible."

Hoppon also offers a variety of features for business owners comparable to large chain stores like order notifications, and email updates. Keep yourself tech-savvy, let valued customers stay in touch, and new customers discover you through Chicagoland's eCommerce supermarket like Hoppon.

Hoppon's features also include vendors' ability to run promotions to customers. Promotions empower shop owners to reach new customers and keep existing ones. We've added this feature to help vendors drive traffic to their online shop and to their physical shop.

"Marketplaces like this ensure that independent businesses can be technologically up-to-date and quick to serve consumers as giants like Amazon, Whole Foods, and Walmart," said Dhandapani.

Hoppon's app is available in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Vendors can register for free to add their shop. Visit Hoppon to list a Chicago area shop here: https://us.shophoppon.com/register-shop/

PayneWest Insurance, a Top 100 National Insurance Brokerage, selects TrustLayer Compliance and Certificate Management Software to leverage next generation technology in their leading Compliance Service Practice

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- PayneWest Insurance, a leading insurance brokerage in the Pacific Northwest, today announced partnering with TrustLayer, Inc., the next generation solution for compliance tracking. PayneWest will leverage TrustLayer to expand value added services within their many Specialty Practices - specifically their Insurance Compliance Service offering to its Construction customers. PayneWest is the leading brokerage in the region to roll out this suite of additional consulting services at scale.

Legacy certificate tracking software systems are often cumbersome and expensive. Industry pioneer TrustLayer provides an innovative risk management system that enables immediate vendor coverage verification. Using a unique robotic process automation (RPA) and AI to automate this manual process allows companies to automatically verify the insurance and licenses of their partners. With TrustLayer, PayneWest is able to elevate and expand its risk consulting services to many more of its customers.

"Small and medium businesses often cannot justify a full-time Risk Manager. TrustLayer gives our brokerage an ability to offer additional risk consulting services to our clients. Most importantly, it helps us better protect our clients from insurance claims caused by their vendors," said Isabel Barichievich, Specialty Practice Project Manager.

Barichievich added, "TrustLayer provides a collaborative risk management platform that allows us to help review and track certificates of insurance (COIs) to make sure our clients' vendors have the correct insurance coverage."

"With the current state of the economy, many vendors are not carrying the right commercial insurance coverage," said John Fohr, Chief Executive Officer of TrustLayer. "By using TrustLayer, PayneWest will be able to automate the traditionally manual process of tracking insurance coverage for their customers, enabling the agency to reduce inefficiency, increase revenue and retain its customer base."

About TrustLayer

TrustLayer is a collaborative risk management application that helps reduce friction between businesses. The company allows their business partners' users to automate the verification of insurance, licenses, and compliance documents (i.e., vendors, subcontractors, suppliers, borrowers, tenants, ridesharing and franchisees). TrustLayer's solution is recognized by the industry and is a member of BrokerTech Ventures (BTV) accelerator, BrushCreek Tech Insurance accelerator, winner of the 2019 R3 CordaCon Insurtech Challenge, and received top honors at The Institutes 2020 annual convention.

‘Finishing Touches’ Closes the Gap Between Estate Plans and the Details of Everyday Life

HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. /ScoopCloud/ -- Katrina Bragg, owner of Task Mania, a leading virtual administrative assistant service, today launches "Finishing Touches," a living document designed to capture and organize an individual's most important personal information.

"Finishing Touches" is the first signature product created by Task Mania to meet the emergent needs of its clients to organize both their business and their life. The product includes the details that loved ones need to know in the case of a life-altering event or death.

Organizing one's thoughts and life details has never been so crucial as during the COVID-19 era, estate planning experts agree.

"'Finishing Touches' is a living document designed to close the gap between your estate plan and the details of your real life. The main purpose is to help your family in the event of a life-altering illness or sudden death." says Bragg.

Specifically, "Finishing Touches" covers the details often omitted from wills or estate planning documents. In the document, an individual records how they want their loved ones to handle personal items, photos, social media accounts and resolve daily activities.

Bragg designed the organization tool to be useful, regardless of age or where one may be in the estate planning process.

"Finishing Touches" was designed to complement, not replace, the estate and will planning process," Bragg says. "Individuals can use it for their own reference, as well as provide a copy to their attorney and loved ones to provide guidance as needed."

As an introduction to the "Finishing Touches" experience, Bragg has also launched a free e-book, "Top 5 Things Not Covered In Your Will or Estate Planning."

The e-book illustrates how some wishes fall outside the formal estate planning process. Those are usually the more personal aspects of our lives.

Ultimately, "Finishing Touches" is both product and service. Clients can choose to print the document in sections or as a whole and fill it out by hand. Or, the more electronically savvy can complete the document in its electronic format. Plus, those who need a helping hand can work with Bragg personally to complete their own "Finishing Touches" document.

"Periodically, each person with a 'Finishing Touches' document will get a reminder from me to update their information," Bragg says. "Regular updates ensure that the document is up to date as a primary resource whenever needed."

About Katrina Bragg

A recognized expert on all things administrative, Katrina Bragg is owner of Task Mania, Hendersonville, N.C., and creator of "Finishing Touches," a living document that prioritizes your personal wishes in the event of an emergency, "Finishing Touches" helps ensure that your loved ones have the information and resources they need to honor your values and life. Sussman-Hoyt PROductions’ Wildomar Movie Ranch Brings A Major Film Production to The Inland Empire

WILDOMAR, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- SAG Production Comes to Wildomar! Surprisingly, in the midst of a pandemic when most businesses are operating in limited capacities or closed altogether, Wildomar Movie Ranch continues to develop partnerships with film producers to bring projects to Wildomar and Lake Elsinore areas of the Inland Empire.

Last month, as a result of Sussman-Hoyt PROductions' efforts, Wildomar and Lake Elsinore became hosts to a tightly controlled COVID-compliant, closed set SAG Hollywood film production. A recognized, award-winning-actress-turned-director, Jamie Anderson, was up against a tight deadline and had exhausted her search for ideal properties near LA to film her sitcom pilot. Along came Wildomar Movie Ranch!

Three properties offered by Sussman and Hoyt created the variety, immediacy, affordability, and privacy needed to complete the large 40-member cast/crew production and prepare it for anxious investors eager to fund the pilot in hopes of creating enough buzz to launch the series.

All this would not have been possible without the accommodating services provided by Sussman-Hoyt PROductions and their Wildomar Movie Ranch.

"They (Sussman and Hoyt) were so lovely and willing to do what it took to just make it work," Anderson said.

The Wildomar Movie Ranch locations were ideal and found in the nick of time plus Sussman and Hoyt offered local resources and amenities for the cast and crew from local restaurants, hotels, and other vendors so the production could continue as planned, on schedule, and under budget.

"We were pleased to have done our part to bring revenue to our local businesses, especially those hurt hard financially this year," said Hoyt.

Sussman passionately added, "And we do whatever it takes to prove that southwest Riverside county has the right stuff for the entertainment industry to produce its next projects right here. Wildomar Movie Ranch has other unique properties like caves, rivers, ranches and historic structures for filming. The region has the affordability and qualified talent. Plus, we have the added benefit of a professionally engineered sound studio and green screen room to create a world of possibilities. What else do you need?"

Endorsed by the local communities and the Riverside Film Commission, Sussman-Hoyt PROductions continues to build upon their one-stop-shop business model and is staking their reputation on being southwest Riverside County's premier, client-based, world-class service entertainment production company - whether small indie film productions, music producers, or as proven last month, top level SAG productions.

From feature and short films, documentaries, podcasts, commercials, vignettes, event commemorations, to set designs and full-scale music productions, recordings, arrangements, mixing, and compositions, Sussman-Hoyt PROductions, Inc. delivers a client-centric approach and multiple service options to accommodate most sized projects and budgets.

About Wildomar Movie Ranch:

Wildomar Movie Ranch is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sussman-Hoyt Productions, Inc. (S-Hp), a California based corporation founded by CK Sussman (CEO) and LE Hoyt (COO) - two seasoned professionals with back lot film studio and LA music studio work to their credits. Both Sussman and Hoyt are experienced musicians and industry professionals, with independent proven track records as successful business owners and entrepreneurs.

Launch Pad Publishing Releases Memoir About Overcoming Cancer

LOS ANGELES, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- Launch Pad Publishing is releasing its first memoir about overcoming cancer using unconventional methods. "Life is a Ride: My Unconventional Journey of Cancer Recovery" (ISBN: 978-1951407292) tells the tale of environmental consultant Chris Joseph, who, at 59, received a diagnosis of stage three pancreatic cancer.

After chemotherapy left him drained and still sick, he embarked on an alternative path to recovery that, against all odds, healed him both physically and spiritually.

Joseph is no ordinary entrepreneur. He's an environmental consultant who decided to create a "borrow and pay back" company for musicians in New Orleans, whose friends started a Go Fund Me to help fund his alternative treatments in Germany, who openly cries out of gratitude without prodding.

Readers have fallen in love with Joseph and his story. "Informative and uplifting," "a testimonial on taking back your life," "moving and helpful," "honest and emotional" and "raw and inspiring" are just a few of the comments that reviewers have made.

Joseph was the first patient to be interviewed by two of the leading pancreatic cancer researchers in the country on The Pancreatic Cancer Podcast and his book has been excerpted by the environmental non-profit NatureBridge.

Experts have also embraced Joseph's tale. "Heartwarming, funny and engaging, Chris Joseph gives us one of the best kept secrets of being a successful cancer patient: take action and become the CEO of your own medical path," says Pamela Varady, PsyD. "Chris Joseph draws a map from one devastating diagnosis to empowered wellness, documenting some of the routes patients can take around the worst obstacles," says Kimberly Kaye, FMHC and patient advocate.

"Chris Joseph is a wonder," says Launch Pad publisher Anna David. "He wrote his book and pursued publication with such a passion that it's no wonder he beat cancer. I'm actually convinced Chris Joseph could beat anything."

"Life is a Ride" is available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble, among many other outlets.

Asheville Cooking Classes – A Fun and Educational Alternative to Dining Out

ASHEVILLE, N.C. /ScoopCloud/ -- After being closed for several months, Cottage Cooking Asheville has re-opened, but classes look a little different now. They're even more intimate and guests will enjoy more of a demo versus hands-on experience.

For the Zoom-weary crowd, these classes are a great alternative to learning online. People are craving more in-person experiences and Cottage Cooking satisfies with everything from bread baking and sushi rolling to creme brulee burning and more. They provide a nice way for couples to re-connect, families to spend time together, friends to have a laugh or two, and kids to learn a new recipe or two.

Prior to the pandemic, classes went up to six at the Cottage Cooking location and strangers would often break bread together. Now, classes are limited to four who know each other. And, if there's a couple who wants to book a class, they'll get a private class for the regular price of $75 versus $90.

"For now, we're not putting people together who don't know each other," Liisa Andreassen, co-owner, Cottage Cooking, says. "We want everyone to be safe and comfortable."

Recently, Cottage Cooking has had several requests from honeymooners, couples celebrating anniversaries and girls getting out of town for a weekend escape.

"People want to do 'something,' but are still not ready to commit to eating out. Our classes fit the bill," Andreassen says.

Cottage Cooking will also take the show on the road and go off-site for groups of six to 12. For all classes, everyone is required to wear a face mask and people will eat outside when weather permits.

The Cottage Cooking property includes two lovely decks, a firepit area and vegetable gardens. There's even a wildlife dining area and 'museum' that's free for all to visit.

For a full property tour, watch this fun video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8mm0l-RLD4

September is National Preparedness Month: Statewide Mutual Aid Network Provides 24/7 Response to Illinois Communities

ST. CHARLES, Ill. /ScoopCloud/ -- Communities are continuing clean-up efforts following the summer's severe weather events, says Illinois Public Works Mutual Aid Network. This includes an Aug. 10 storm classified by the National Weather Service as a Derecho (a long-lived line of thunderstorms and intense winds) that produced widespread damage to trees, power lines, buildings, and vehicles from hurricane-force winds and 11 tornadoes.

Five Northern Illinois communities - Lombard, Oglesby, Villa Park, Spring Valley and Grant Park - received recovery assistance through their membership in the Illinois Public Works Mutual Aid Network (IPWMAN), a statewide organization that offers a standardized mutual aid agreement as a framework for communities to help each other prepare and recover from natural and man-made disasters. In total, 23 other IPWMAN member communities provided aid to those five cities and villages.

Formed in 2009 in response to revised guidelines issued by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) following 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina, IPWMAN provides three primary benefits to members.

#1: Access to statewide resources, including equipment, expertise and people power.

IPWMAN's membership has grown from three members in 2009 to over 400 organizations in 2020 - including counties, cities, towns, villages and townships, as well as a sanitary district and a water district - serving populations that range from fewer than 500 to more than 5 million residents.

#2: Coordinated response.

IPWMAN members receive the first 5 days of disaster support at no cost. Requests for assistance go to an IPWMAN Call Center, available 24/7 and staffed by trained public works duty officers who coordinate requests and assistance to efficiently provide necessary resources.

#3: Training opportunities.

IPWMAN provides training for its members, with opportunities ranging from an annual conference that offers information on a variety of emergency response topics to meeting with others who have worked or will be working with them during emergency responses. Other training provided throughout the year includes participating in disaster simulation exercises with other organizations, offering opportunities to learn about and from those other mutual aid organizations.

Companies and Film Producers in L.A. Are Struggling to Find A Solution to Social Distancing

LOS ANGELES, Calif. /ScoopCloud/ -- Good Heart Catering in Los Angeles is excited to welcome back those slowly returning to offices and film productions in Los Angeles. In preparation for the return of Southern California's workforce, Good Heart Catering has been working with select clients on a new menu to help solve the problem of keeping to social distancing guidelines while still energizing staff with nutritious meals.

Founder Jon Toktas comments that, "Since the beginning of the shutdown, we've been getting requests from large and small employers for solutions that can help keep their employees well-fed and safe.

"The primary concern by management is having employees leaving the building multiple times a day and coming back with an increased chance of exposure.

"On film production sets, the concern is over shared catering stations, which have been a mainstay of productions in the past.

"In the near term, we recommend our individually packaged meals to avoid the crowded catering buffet lines during shoots."

Good Heart Catering's all-in-one solution of delivering boxed breakfast or lunch, tailored individually to each employee, solves the problem.

By cooking and delivering meals using in house staff in a central kitchen, they can limit the number of people involved in the preparation and delivery of the meals. Reducing the number of touchpoints and exposure.

For organizations with in-house cafeterias that have been closed and non-returning due to cost concerns, Good Heart Catering's individually packaged meals can be a single vendor replacement to take advantage of the new menu for daily service.

Delicious, healthy, and individually packed meals include new items such as crusted salmon and spinach, anca beef and asparagus, falafel rabble, and more. These new menu items are in addition to their existing menu of boxed sandwich lunches and individually boxed breakfast offerings.

The full line of new items can be viewed on their website: https://goodheartcatering.com/r/63J

Executives Call for Congressional Action to Prevent Homelessness

WASHINGTON, D.C. /ScoopCloud/ -- Faith Schwartz, President, Housing Finance Strategies, Washington, D.C. and Lee Raagas, CEO, Skid Row Housing Trust, Los Angeles, Calif., issue statement on housing crisis:

With the Congress' inability to come together to pass a COVID-4 relief package, we and those that we collaborate and represent rise to give voice to what we see as an upcoming wrecking ball coming to a community and neighborhood near you. That significant impact is homelessness.

This is not a new challenge; it is one that has been on the radar for multiple years in multiple industries that have been advocating housing as a human right. This challenge spans all "housing" whether it is mortgage and homeowners to market rate renters all the way through affordable housing spectrums. A challenge we posit should have been addressed in the same manner the CARES Act addressed mortgage forbearance.

For homeowners impacted by COVID-19, Congress provided unlimited relief. Troubled mortgagors simply had to raise their hand, attest to a COVID-19 impact, and their federally-backed mortgage servicer was on the hook for mortgage payment relief for up to a year.

We applauded and supported this action for homeowners because it facilitated a process and safety net to ensure that homeowners did not lose their home and "housing." Even as the CARES Act was rolled out to a questioning mortgage industry, we saw the need as urgent and imperative and that mortgage companies needed to take swift action. In record time, mortgage servicers met the challenge and performed in a fastidious manner taking the worry and risk off of homeowners battling COVID-19.

And while we applaud the Centers for Disease Control action last month to halt evictions through year-end, we see this step as a half-measure. Yes, it postpones near-term evictions, but it provides no funding mechanism to support multi-family property owners or owners of rental properties - only the Congress can authorize such payment. This demographic and "housing" group represents a significant amount of our citizens and more importantly, represents those that are struggling due to COVID-19 financial, economic and health impacts.

We are learning with each new unemployment report that the coronavirus is hitting the service sector, retail and food and beverage industries harder than white-collar jobs. The contrast is even more significant when you compare high tech no collar jobs to those lower-income jobs and impacted employees who often pool a higher percentage of income to afford rental payments.

As housing professionals - one from the public policy side, and one from the development side - we implore the Congress to prioritize what we see a looming eviction risk driven by COVID-19 job loss.

The protections afforded to homeowners in the CARES Act must now be allocated to renters, in like size and fashion, especially as we witness the disproportionate job loss in sectors ravaged by COVID-19 week after week after week. That impact has disproportionately affected brown and black individuals and families.

Therefore we join together with 31 national organizations, including the Mortgage Bankers Association and the National Alliance to End Homelessness in their August 21, 2020 letter to Congress; and we support their call for action including their statement:

"Failure to act will put tens of millions of renters at risk of being evicted, undermine the stability of our rental housing system, and needlessly prolong our nation's ability to fully recover from the economic damage that has been wrought by this pandemic."

We understand election year politics is contributing to the impasse surrounding the COVID-4 legislative funding package, yet we implore Members to reach across the aisle and fund federal relief for COVID-19 impacted renters. And while we acknowledge and appreciate the recent action by FHFA and HUD to extend eviction moratoriums, more must be done by the Congress through appropriation to address specific COVID-19 measures that afford rental relief.

With specific expertise in permanent supportive housing for homeless individuals and families, our street level view is that we are on the brink of a health crisis becoming a rental crisis leading to a surge in homelessness. Our vantage point at Skid Row Housing Trust leverages three decades of real estate development and more than 20,000 formerly homeless housed. The cliché of 'drinking from a firehose' is a daily reality for those of us serving growing homeless numbers compounded by a pandemic.

Data and experience from that organization and vantage point is key because it provides a threefold benefit; 1) a data driven verification of what is being communicated today, 2) an opportunity to look back and see what could have been modified to avoid current circumstances and 3) an opportunity to look forward to forecast what could happen if we do not take this combined crisis of how health meets housing seriously and expeditiously.

Fortunately, Skid Row Housing Trust has innovated development models that are replicable across the country, but time is not on our side. Skid Row's pipeline of development projects is like many other real estate businesses where five-year plans and strategic initiatives create a nexus of housing units delivered. Yesterday, as a nation, homeless providers were strapped by funding, resources and demand. Today, those needs are stretched beyond what we could have quantified just months ago. And the trend line is worsening.

It is our goal to avoid the trauma of a national housing crisis. Housing Finance Strategies knows all too well we have too many lessons learned from the 2008-2009 housing crisis not to see this one coming. Both Skid Row Housing Trust and Housing Finance Strategies are working together on proven and innovative resources of bringing together like-minded, solution oriented individuals to explore public, private, for profit, and non-profit entities together to forecast, create and execute on plans to solve housing and homelessness risks.

Please join us in calling attention to the plight of millions of renters perilously close to homelessness ... and join us in calling our Congressional leaders so they hear our bi-partisan voices. Finally, join us in caring for the needs of all of those impacted by job loss associated with COVID-19.

Ohio Veterans Launch Camp Freeman GoFundMe campaign and website to begin construction on their first non-profit Veterans’ Retreat

NEWARK, Ohio /ScoopCloud/ -- Camp Freeman, a Veteran Owned Ohio Non-Profit 501(c)(3) has been established to support homeless, at-risk, disabled, and transitioning veterans. Camp Freeman is launching their fundraising campaign on Gofundme.com September 11th, 2020 with a goal of $2.9 million to build their first regional facility and headquarters right here in central Ohio.

The new organization is currently accepting donations on their website https://www.campfreeman.com, GoFundMe https://gf.me/u/yxtbk6, via PayPal https://www.paypal.com/us/fundraiser/charity/4016569, or by mail to Camp Freeman, PO Box 245, Jacksontown, OH 43030.

Volunteer opportunities are also available for individuals and organizations who wish to support the veteran community.

Services

Camp Freeman is a planned 50+ acre veterans' retreat and the first facility of its kind featuring:
* Veteran's Village (Cabins/Tiny Houses)
* Transitional Housing
* Family Support and Crisis Shelter
* Support Groups
* On-site Behavioral Health
* Nutritional services
* Education & Counseling
* RV Campground & Primitive Campsites
* Recreational Facilities
* Fitness Center & Aquatics
* Art & Equine Therapy Programs
* Auto Hobby Shop
* Designated Quiet Spaces
* & So Much More

Each veteran will go through an initial interview and counseling that Camp Freeman will use to create an individual action plan with easy to reach personal goals. Major milestones will be celebrated to recognize these veterans' efforts for themselves and their community. All programs at camp freeman will be offered at no cost except for campground, Veterans' Village, and transitional housing; but those cabin and site rentals will be offered on an income-based scale so it is affordable for any veteran.

Camp Freeman's mission may best be stated by one of its founding members, Christopher Reynard: "We are tired of watching veterans fall through the cracks of a broken system. Our veterans need real behavioral health support, real community, real comradery, and most of all they need their military family back. With the onslaught of natural disasters, a nationwide pandemic, and a forthcoming eviction apocalypse, we can't wait any longer. The time is now! The place is right here where we can make the greatest impact."

Camp Freeman Board Members

One of their Board Members, Timothy Godwin has already launched a highly successful PTSD Support Group, The Huddle, which is still active today. Another, Jacob Edgell, has spent most of his time in the past couple of years practicing and planning therapy opportunities for disabled Veterans including art, equine therapy, digital veterans' communities, and even volunteers as a counselor for veterans in his spare time through multiple online support groups. With over 15 years of combined experience serving veterans and active military members, the Board Members of Camp Freeman have witnessed what could only be described as Miraculous Transitions.

According to Army Veteran, Specialist Murphy who was homeless with a family of 5 near the onset of the Covid-19 crisis and is now transitioning into his own home in Southern Ohio: "I don't know where I'd be without Tim, Jake, and Chris. . .maybe on the side of the road...probably not good. My family and I got to stay with Chris and his family, and it was different than anything I'd seen. Seeing what they do for others makes it hard not to try every day and be a success story... I can't wait 'til I can come back and help some!"

The Camp Freeman Team has supported veterans in crisis, assisted with housing, provided counseling, sheltered veterans and their families, and most importantly have built supportive relationships with veterans of every background using only their own resources. With the support of local organizations and public/private donors to provide facilities and paid staff; Camp Freeman will make an unimaginable impact on the Veteran Community while providing a benchmark for the veterans' programs of the future.

Board member Timothy Godwin while speaking at a recent board meeting stated: "It's not just Central Ohio...It's not just Ohio, it's all the surrounding states...the whole nation...None of our unsung heroes will be forgotten with time and no more will be abandoned if they come to us. That is going to be our legacy, our brothers continuing on, that is our legacy... Sometimes you just can't do it alone...It takes a village."

Camp Freeman can be operational before the end of the year at a limited capacity with the success of this fundraising campaign then operating at full capacity before the end of 2021. On this September 11th, remember the patriotism and the unity after that great tragedy. With your support now, next year on the 20th Anniversary of this generation's Pearl Harbor (9/11/2021) Camp Freeman will be fully operational and serving veterans from all across the nation. With all of the hatred and discontent spreading today, this gives us all a chance to be a part of something positive that will not only save lives, but give our nations heroes the purpose and opportunity they deserve.

Success, motivation, inspiration and the opportunity to achieve wealth draw an excited and large-scale audience. At the same time, there are a great deal of less than honorable individuals looking to make money off these people without offering much in return.

This has opened a door for a series of less than authoritative and aspiring coaches, multilevel marketing consultants, self-professed success gurus and "certified" life coaches believing that all they need to do to tap into these markets is to get a book out on to those markets.

This is not saying that all coaches, consultants and gurus are guilty of this, but the percentage that are is going up dramatically at a scary pace.

"We have noticed a rise in companies that allow you to purchase what we term as a prefabricated book. These books fall into one of the genres of success or coaching toward business, health, wealth, and sales to name just a few. You simply buy a system that you download which allows you to move some chapters around, change a few words, headers, add a few stories of your own, create a book cover, publish as an eBook or print on demand, and wham, you're an author," says Weisman.

Is it legal? Yes. You have purchased a license to use other people's work that has allowed you to state it as your own, but is it ethical?

Weisman answers, "I see this as permissive plagiarism. A license has been bought, but how does this create authentic authority and a foundation of integrity to trust this new author if the truth was revealed? Would these authors be ok with openly stating that they bought eighty to ninety percent of a book and just added a few pieces to it? I seriously doubt it. So where is the honor and transparency there?"

The take away?

For the readers:

Consider looking a little deeper in to the books you are thinking of purchasing to see if they hold the authenticity and authority behind the story. Take the time to vet the sources and make sure they are resources of knowledge and expertise that can help you.

For the aspiring writers:

Honor yourself and honor those you want to work with. Not everyone has a book in them and that's ok. It is also a whole lot better to not try to fake your validity in a world that is catching up and catching on to the scams and the half truths faster than ever.

Ensure that your messaging is rooted in a foundation of authenticity and integrity that can amplify your authority. If you are a not so talented singer that only lip syncing on stage with someone else's voice, the chances are greater of being found out these days.

Even with all the others using the white label and prefab downloads of books, courses, audios and whatever else... stand out by being true to you and the audience you want to build.
